Does anyone else think that the new update 5.1.1 drains battery life faster than 5.1?

I charged my phone to 100% last night and unpluged it last night before going to bed. 10 hours later, when I got up, my battery had went down all the way to 68% and with no apps running in the background... All while my iPhone's currently running on IOS 5.1.1. I never had this problem with IOS 5.1, when the battery would only drop to around 97% overnight.
Anyone else having this problem?

With Phone, Messages, and Setting apps active and
Celllular data enabled, my AT&T 64 gig, 4S drops about 4-5%
overnight.  Which is about what it was with 5.1.
So, I personally have seen no change in battery performance
and when using the phone I haven't seen any difference either.

  • Does anyone else think that the AppleMac group of products are marketed in a greedy way? I have MacBook Pro 10.5.8 and am now told that I have to upgrade to Snow Leopard to sync my new iPad. Of course there isn't enough memory on the MacBook? I'm angry!

Does anyone else think that the AppleMac group of products are marketed in a greedy way? I have MacBook Pro 10.5.8 with Leopard and am now told that I have to upgrade to Snow Leopard so that my system can download the relevant iTunes upgrade to sync my new iPad and get my audiobooks (which don't appear anywhere on the device right now). Of course there isn't enough memory on the MacBook and Snow Leopard costs more also? I don't have financial resources to pay for all the new memory requirement and related upgrades they say I need just to sync my iPad with my purchases.

Thanks for the reply but I already knew this. $20 for Snow Leopard which asks for 5gb free memory. I can only see that I have 4 gb (which I feel is rather a pathetic amount of available memory for any computer). To upgrade this computer's memory will cost another fee (I haven't researched this yet but gather it's more than $20). Then of course I could also be told that the OSX Mackbook Pro that I have can't be memory upgraded - which means I'm being told to buy a new computer - hence my very frustrated last email. I have been given a lovely iPad 2 as a present and now can't sync at all with anything because of this ongoing upgrade nightmare. How on earth am I going to be able to sync my movies, audiobooks etc to this new device??

  • Does anyone else find that the new firefox 4 sucks? How do I get back the old one?

I upgraded to the new firefox 4 and I HATE it... I tried to uninstall it, and lost all my bookmark tabs, and then I tried to install the old firefox but couldn't, it only allows me to use the new one, which is also slowing down my laptop big time! Has this happened to anyone else?

I've not had any problems with Firefox 4 being slower, but I've never been so disappointed with a program in years. I went back to 3.6.16 and it's much more stable. I'm an attorney and use the Bankruptcy Court websites daily--literally, hourly--and 4 crashes on them repeatedly, will not download mailing matrices, will not print claims registers, or literally do ANYTHING as well as 3.6 did. If a browser won't do that, then it's worthless to me. We HAVE to have stable programs, and everything now in the Federal courts nationwide has to be electronic filing. I've tried all the tricks I know (and I've been a computer user and builder ever since Win 3.1) and nothing saved it. I finally uninstalled 4, did NOT offload my user profiles, and they all picked up again on 3.6.16. I don't plan on going back to 4--ever.

  • Has anyone else noticed that the new update makes your battery drain more quickly?

Ever since the 6.1 update my battery dies as fast as my android did!  :/ usually I can go all day, not since the update. Any thoughts?

Some likely have... this is an issue reported after every iOS upate.
Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide typically resolves the issue.

  • Does anybody else think that the new ios6 music layout is ugly?

UGH! An ugly, cold, futuristic shade of grey. No more color. What are your opinions? Was ios6 worth the update?

  • Does anyone else feel that the iPhone is sluggish after update 1.1.1?

Is it just me or does anyone else feel that the iPhone feels more sluggish after update 1.1.1? I haven't unlocked or hacked the phone in any way and so it must be due to the update. I thought that the sluggish behavior could be due to a recent update and so I reset the phone. But I still feel that the iPhone has lost that responsiveness that it used to have before. Any one else experiencing this?

Yes, without question I thought typing, especially, was sluggish at first. However, after a day it has seemed to speed up and now, I'd say, is back to original performance, or close to it.
Also, I have lots of contacts (2500), and the phone has been very slow to make the first identification of email addresses when I start typing. Specifically, it freezes for several seconds after the first letter is typed. However, I believe that process is a bit faster after this update.

  • Anyone think that the new update...?

I think that the reason the new update makes my iPhone back up really quickly is because it no longer backsup the music and apps installed.
I went yesterday to get my phone checked out because it was acting up and the "genious" restored it. So i went home and noticed everything was wiped out but didnt mind because i had a backup on my pc. After the restoring it from my back up the music still didnt show up and my apps neither so I had to put them all in manually.
Anyone think differently? Doesnt updating the firmware on previous releases on the phone erases everything, even the music and apps? Then after the new firmware is installed the phone restores from back up? Then i think 2.1 no longer backs up music and apps!

I don't think I was clear enough. I have an 8GB original iPhone. It has been updated only twice and both times it was updated on my friends computer. All my the stuff on my iPhone comes from my computer though meaning that my iPhone is never synced to my friends computer. Yet when I updated from 2.0.1 to 2.1 none of my music or apps or anything disappeared it was all there, all though the backup before the firmware update took a lifetime my music and apps showed up afterwards. Now, yesterday my iPhone was restored and was left in it's originall factory settongs and I thought that my back up from the day before would just bring everything back but it didn't. The music and apps were left put and I thinks it's because 2.1 no longer backs up those two things because evrything else showed up. Even pictures and notes showed up but no apps or music.

  • Does anyone else think that

they need to stop making the ipods bigger and start making the terrible battery life better?
15" Black Macbook Pro   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

The battery life in the 80 gig is great. It's smaller than my first gen ipod (battery still works). Sure, I wish they'd turn the screen sideways, but that's neither here nor there. All the ipods have been made smaller and all the screens better.
User replaceable batteries are almost top on my list. Like the first shuffle couldn't take an AAA. Come on. I hope all the batteries for laptops etc do eventually get standardized. Sure, your battery will outlast your warranty...but it won't outlast the time you're away from a way to charge it!
An upgrade to the video capabilities (physical and usability) would be my number one wish.

  • Does anyone else feel that the Photoshop CS5 type tool hates them?

As a general rule I have no problems with PS CS5 and enjoy many of the features. Just struggled through the Classroom in a Book chapter on Typographic Design and find that getting the type tools and the text to behave is just a complete siege. it will not highlight properly, will not format all the selected text. Paragraph, Vertical and Horizontal all behave badly. God forbid you should right-align text and then highlight and the flashing cursor size bares no relation to the size of font to be typed; no crashes though. Complete nightmare. Am I alone? The only program I have found more anti-typography was (shudder) Corel 11 many moons back...a dark, dark time. I am running Windows 7 Ultimate and am all up to date on patches. First time on the forum so apologies for any lapse in ettiquette. Any help appreciated.

What video card do you actually have?  It's possible even the latest drivers are buggy, especially if it's one that's no longer currently being supported or if it's very new.
Are you sure no fonts have been added to your system?  Just visiting web pages can add fonts.  If you'd like to double check the list you have, I have a freshly installed Windows 7 Ultimate x64 test system on which I just did a listing of the fonts in the \Windows\Fonts folder:

Does anyone maybe know why the new Macbook pros don't have iWeb and how i can install it. My Macbook already came with the iLife thing, but it seems to only have iMovie, iPhoto and Garage Band. is there any way that i can install iWeb?

Apple discontinued iWeb. That's the case for over a year now.
Topics in this forum will tell you that in order to install iWeb you have to find a copy at eBay, Amazon and similar places.

  • Does anyone know if loading the new OS will take care of a malware problem?

Does anyone know if loading the new OS will take care of a malware problem with Safari?

You may have installed one or more of the common types of ad-injection malware. Follow the instructions on this Apple Support page to remove it. It's been reported that some variants of the "VSearch" malware block access to the page. If that happens, start in safe mode by holding down the shift key at the startup chime, then try again.
Back up all data before making any changes.
One of the steps in the article is to remove malicious Safari extensions. Do the equivalent in the Chrome and Firefox browsers, if you use either of those. If Safari crashes on launch, skip that step and come back to it after you've done everything else.
If you don't find any of the files or extensions listed, or if removing them doesn't stop the ad injection, ask for further instructions.
Make sure you don't repeat the mistake that led you to install the malware. It may have come from an Internet cesspit such as "Softonic" or "CNET Download." Never visit either of those sites again. You might also have downloaded it from an ad in a page on some other site. The ad would probably have included a large green button labeled "Download" or "Download Now" in white letters. The button is designed to confuse people who intend to download something else on the same page. If you ever download a file that isn't obviously what you expected, delete it immediately.
Malware is also found on websites that traffic in pirated content such as video. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect more of the same, and worse, to follow. Never install any software that you downloaded from a bittorrent, or that was downloaded by someone else from an unknown source.
In the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences, select the General tab. The radio button marked Anywhere  should not be selected. If it is, click the lock icon to unlock the settings, then select one of the other buttons. After that, don't ignore a warning that you are about to run or install an application from an unknown developer.
Still in System Preferences, open the App Store or Software Update pane and check the box marked
Install system data files and security updates (OS X 10.10 or later)
    or
Download updates automatically (OS X 10.9 or earlier)
    if it's not already checked.

  • I just bought the Otterbox Ipad2...anyone else interested in the new bulletproof case?

...anyone else interested in the new bulletproof case?

I have the defender on my iPad 1 and it will keep your iPad much more secure than any other case I have seen.
It does, however, add over a pound to the iPad and that is just too much for me since my 'home' doesn't usually bounce around much. The smart cover coupled with the clear Xgear rear cover is enough for me.
If Otterbox comes out with a reduced weight 'commuter' case for the iPad 2 I will revisit the issue.

  • Does anyone else think..............

Does anyone else think you should be able to import a DVD using itunes? Just like you would with a CD? I think itunes needs to get with the times...

If you're referrring to commercial DVDs, the problem with that is that they're copy-protected. Apple would have to build in decoding of the copy protection into iTunes and get licenses from the DVD producers to allow DVDs to be imported, something they're unlikely to grant, though we can hope that at some point the content owners will be flexible enough to allow it.

  • Anyone having trouble with the new update for 2010 mac book air 10.8.2?

Anyone having trouble with the new update for 2010 mac book air 10.8.2 ? My 2010 Macbook Air has crashed 15times since the 10.8.2 update. Have only once since owning it.

Turned out the hardware was bad.  Apple exchanged it for a new Mac Air and the new trackpad works great.  Thank goodness it was a defect.  If the trackpads all worked like that I would have been bummed.
