Does anyone ever have the problem where the iPod won't go to sleep?

i used to have a 4GB nano...and occasionally it wouldnt go to sleep...the backlight would just turn off for a few seconds...i recently got a 30GB iPod video...it is excellent might i add...but every now and then it wont turn off right away...this ever happen to anyone else?

It can just be that the iPod is loading something.
It can happen more on a 5G iPod. For example, if you are listening to music longer the iPod loads it from the HD. If you stop it then, the iPod may not turn off. Usually trying a couple of times or waiting a minute does the trick. If you were watching a video the iPod may still be doing something so won't turn off right away.
With the iPod nano, the same thing may apply. Even though it has no HD to spin, the iPod can be finishing up something (for example if you ended a song or just exited the photo library).
Sometimes the iPod nano won't turn off after syncing it to the computer simply because it is finishing up with notes, photos, etc.
The "problem" usually happens more with iPod's with HDs, simply because it takes longer to "load" something or the HD may be spinning.

The background music I chose was a standard Apple Loop, but on playback it sounds like someone has cut the music, each time the Loop connects to the extended loops I made when I dragged the end of the initial loop out over a short distance? Did I do it wrong?
When you extend the loop by dragging the the end of the loop (you'll see a bracket as cursor), you will extend the loop by silence and hear a sharp cut. To make the loop longer, loop it. Grab it in a way, that you'll see a curved arrow as pointer and not the bracket.

I downloaded and tried EasyFind. It works but it took 30+ seconds to complete finding 3 files that are on One of my Five 25+ Gb partitions of my 130 Gb Seagate Cuda(Really 160 Gb, but my Sawtooth will only recognize 130) I figured that if I ever got a better box, I could reformat it to see the whole 160 Gb. So, as far as I can see, Spotlight's indexing scheme which finds the files instantly is probably preferable. Spot light allows you to rename your files from within it's app window. I've always thought that was pretty powerful. Could my doing so be causing me any issues? As i said it is the inability to Type in the Finder that seemed to be caused from changing file Extentions that were mis-written. Maybe it was a delayed reaction to my renaming files in the Spotlight app? I've done both on occasion.
As for these .DS_Store files. Apparently you can NOT stop them from being written to any folder that you touch/open/view during a days session. But, as a function of the OS, are the essential to have in their respective folders Forever? I've looked at the .DS_Store terminator app briefly and assume that getting rid of these files won't hurt the regular operation of my OS. They will just be re-written if I ever have to go back to any particular folder again. But, apparently, some have said that if the plan on burning a CD or DVD of their data, they delete the .DS_Store files first and then do the burn.
I'm thinking from your having suggested this tremination app that you suspect that my having all of these ,DS_Store files could be a situation where any of them could have become corrupted and terminating them regularly should be part of my regular maintenance.
Does that sound like I'm understanding what I can do?

Ebooks, half the books I have bought have complete sections or chapters missing. Does anyone else have this problem or am I doing something wrong in the downloading of them

You should be able to delete and redownload them via the bookshelf in the iBooks app : tap the Edit button top right of the shelf, select and delete the books, then go into the Store via the button top left of the bookshelf, and in the Purchased tab (bottom right of the store) find and re-download the books.
If they re-download in the same state then try the 'report a problem' link from your purchase history : log into your account on your computer's iTunes via Store > View My Account and you should then see a Purchase History section with a 'see all' link to the right of it ; click on that and you should see a list of your purchases ; find those books and use the 'Report a Problem' link.

I have exactly the same issue as described above : I installed the update 5.1.1 on my iphone 3GS and since then, I can not turn it on anymore. In Itunes, I get an error 37 when I am doing a restauration and it stops.
This error has nothing to do with firewall : I tried to restore the phone on several computers, including in an Apple reseller and it did not work anywhere.
I spent several hours on phone with the hotline from Apple which arrived to the conclusion that it is a hardware issue, but the phone was working perfectly fine until I installed this update!

Try resetting the iPad. Simultaneously hold down the Home and the On buttons until the iPad shuts off. Ignore the off slider if it should appear. This should take only about ten seconds or so. Once shut down is compete, turn the iPad back on.

Location services is NOT running all the time, only when the arrow appears in the message bar. It is not a major consumer of power unless you are actively using it (such as using the Maps app), and even then it is a minor factor in battery life; loading maps is the big user of power in the Maps app. And turning off Location Services defeats Find my iPhone.
There are only 2 heavy battery consumers, cellular data and interactive games. Everything else (bluetooth, location services, WiFi, etc) are tiny in comparison to these and will not make a significant difference in battery life.

I have random songs that a have paid for but they just disappear, or cannot be downloaded and so on. Sometimes they are indexed wrongly, and can't be found because of that, no work around because also the search function of itunes has gotten totally unusable. Not much fun to be an apple user anymore. I once used to be a very loyal user. My first apple was a Macintosh SE and an image writer II.
