Does anyone know yet if the iBook will be available on iTunes?

I ask because I wonder if this will be available for the iPhone, too. I would love to have this portability between devices.

As I said in my other email I kindly disagree with you and, again, ask where in the SDK agreement this is said and noted. I have only seen what you note in a pre-release NDA as would be the case for development for iPhone OS 4.0... were that in the works. I agree before Steve's presentation today, this NDA was in total force upon on developers who had access, but not after.
We will have to agree to disagree. Once the SDK is release, even in beta, it is not an unmentionable. Also, beta means pre-release candidate that is fully usable by folks who wish to try it at their own risk knowing that it is not the final product or release candidate. Beta does not mean what you described. Wikipedia would be a good source for understanding alpha, beta, and release candidates during the software life cycle.

Please guys help me out I preordered it yesterday June 5, 2014 thank you so much I appreciate it

No way to know.  Usually Pre-Orders come up at least a Month in advance of actual release. When you Pre-Order something its with the expectation that you are not getting it immediately. or even very soon after purchase.

  • Does anyone know yet if the new iPad will support a USB microphone plugged into Garageband via iPad's USB Camera Adapter?

    Hi,
I've ordered a new iPad 64Gb which will arrive early April. My hobby is making music, so does anyone know yet if the new iPad (3rd generation) will support a USB microphone plugged into Garageband via iPad's USB Camera Adapter? I am hoping to use such a portable setup to record live performances of voice & acoustic instrument.
    Thank you,
    John.

When in doubt, try it out. I bought the Apple camera connection kit & used it to connect my Blue Snowball usb mic to my new iPad 3rd generation. It works just fine. I made some test recordings in GarageBand on my iPad 3 using my Snowball mic. They sound great.

  • Does anyone know what is the best place to advertise my iTunes Books?  Where can I get the word out?

I have some books out on iTunes and I am wondering if anyone knows great places to promote them?  I have sold a good amount on iTunes with NO marketing at all, and I want to try to beef up my sales.  Anyone got any good ideas or information for me?

What kind of projects (Graphic Presentations, Word Processor Docs, Spreadsheets)? Will the electronic versions have to be read by others? Pages is a good word processor for reports and the iWork suite is ~$79

according to Forum Nokia here: http://wiki.forum.nokia.com/index.php/Nokia_Firmware_Versions 21.0.101 seems to have been released for the APAC region, not quite sure if that include's the HK region or not. though it may be coming soon to the 5800's, its anyone guess. i also noticed on there that v30 for both N85 and N96 were released on time, but v30 for N78 and N79 are stated as having been released but are not available on either NSU or FOTA. also that the 30.011 documented for N79 seems to have changed to 30.019 as in line with the numbering system for N85. either way, i hope the firmware updates come really soon for 5800, N78 and N79, they seem a little overdue.

Does anyone know if my G3S Iphone will sync Itunes on my MAC Power PC G4, OSI0.4.11?  If it will, what operting system does the Iphone need?

My apologies, I read your post the wrong way. I see now that the original poster was confused about the specs and you were simply responding with the appropriate info.
I've gotten defensive after reading the forums. The forums are full of posters just looking to prove someone wrong or stupid, rather than being helpful. I shouldn't have assumed you were one of those people. Sorry.
I did my homework and discovered that my PowerPC will run Leopard. It can be purchased for $129 by calling 1-800-MY-APPLE. This is much cheaper than replacing my laptop.
I hope to upgrade my Mac soon, though! Can't believe this thing is still ticking. I love Apple.

  • Does anyone know if loading the new OS will take care of a malware problem?

Does anyone know if loading the new OS will take care of a malware problem with Safari?

You may have installed one or more of the common types of ad-injection malware. Follow the instructions on this Apple Support page to remove it. It's been reported that some variants of the "VSearch" malware block access to the page. If that happens, start in safe mode by holding down the shift key at the startup chime, then try again.
Back up all data before making any changes.
One of the steps in the article is to remove malicious Safari extensions. Do the equivalent in the Chrome and Firefox browsers, if you use either of those. If Safari crashes on launch, skip that step and come back to it after you've done everything else.
If you don't find any of the files or extensions listed, or if removing them doesn't stop the ad injection, ask for further instructions.
Make sure you don't repeat the mistake that led you to install the malware. It may have come from an Internet cesspit such as "Softonic" or "CNET Download." Never visit either of those sites again. You might also have downloaded it from an ad in a page on some other site. The ad would probably have included a large green button labeled "Download" or "Download Now" in white letters. The button is designed to confuse people who intend to download something else on the same page. If you ever download a file that isn't obviously what you expected, delete it immediately.
Malware is also found on websites that traffic in pirated content such as video. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect more of the same, and worse, to follow. Never install any software that you downloaded from a bittorrent, or that was downloaded by someone else from an unknown source.
In the Security & Privacy pane of System Preferences, select the General tab. The radio button marked Anywhere  should not be selected. If it is, click the lock icon to unlock the settings, then select one of the other buttons. After that, don't ignore a warning that you are about to run or install an application from an unknown developer.
Still in System Preferences, open the App Store or Software Update pane and check the box marked
Install system data files and security updates (OS X 10.10 or later)
    or
Download updates automatically (OS X 10.9 or earlier)
    if it's not already checked.

  • Does anyone know how good the SAMPSON USB mic is compared to...

Does anyone know how good the SAMPSON USB mic is compared to having a dedicated audio interface with lets say a good condenser mic?
I am going to be doing some vocals and need a very good quality recording.
It just seems pretty simple right now to use a high quality USB.....
Rather than getting an interface (which I will be getting down the road)
but how "high" is the quality of the Sampson USB mic? Say even compared to
an AKG condenser?? Will I get 90% of the way there compared to an AKG mic and an dedicated audio interface (like the firepod or m-audio-410)
and also if anyone knows will the difference in audio interfaces affect the actual recording quality by a great difference?
    thanks, technoreid

I have a Samson C01U USB Studio Condenser mic that I use most of the time.
    PRO
To be honest it's really a lot of bang for the buck (about $90 at Sam Ash Music) and incredibly simple to use.
It's well-built (the screen is very rugged, and it has a good amount of heft to it.
Given that GB 3 has a lot of decent vocal presets (and software outboard equipment) in it now (with radio/podcast settings and voice over stuff) you can get it to sound pretty good. In that sense, I think it is an ideal podcast or voice over mic.
It's easy to use, just like GB itself. I am a BIG fan of using equipment that is intuitive and does not thwart the creative process, and the Samson fits the bill. Pull it out of its storage bag; plug in the USB cord into the mic and then into the USB port of your Mac and Voila! you're in business.
    CON
You are limited by the length of a USB chord, whereas XLR cables into a firewire analog to digital piece of outboard gear will have XLR in, and XLR cables are the standard for long distances mic usage.
One track, mono at a time. There is no way (that I know of) to effectively do simultaneous stereo recording. But if you are using GB as a composition tool (as I do) you do most of your instruments in GB and only vocals (and maybe guitars) live and only one at a time.
You get what you pay for. Is the Samson C01U as good as a Neumann U87 into a tube-based Analog to digital preamp? Is it the way I would record vocals for a major record release? No. But the difference isn't like listening to a scratched 78 rpm shellack record versus a digital recording either. For most applications, the difference is minimal. How much? I don't have the testing instruments to quantify.
But then again, there's something to be said for spending $90 versus $3,800 (SRP) for a U87 and $2,300 (SRP) for a PreSonus ADL-600 Stereo Hi Volt Tube Mic Preamp......

You said:  "I've never tried the restore function in disk utility. Would that be the same as cloning the drive?
YES!  See the my old instructions below.  What you might try after step 5 is to restart you MBP holding down the Option key.  Select the new HDD icon and see if it boots.  This way you will know that the new HDD is operable.
    Ciao.
INSTALLING A NEW HDD IN A MB
    1. Make certain that you have backed up all of your important data.
    2. You will need a HDD enclosure.  One with a USB connection will do.  A 9 pin Firewire is better.
    3. Install your new drive in the enclosure and connect it to your MBP.
    4. Open DISK UTILITY>ERASE.  From the left hand column drag the new drive into the 'Name' field.  Make sure that the format is 'Mac OS Extended (Journaled)'.  Click on the 'Erase' button.
    5. Click on the 'Restore' button (on top).  Drag the old drive into the 'Source' field and the new drive into the 'Destination'  field.  Click on the 'Restore' button on the bottom right hand corner.
Depending upon the amount of data you are transferring, this may take a couple hours or more.  A Firewire will speed up the transfer.  This will result in both drives having identical information on them.
    6. After the data transfer has completed, you may swap the drives.  Start the MBP and you have finished the installation.  The initial boot may take a bit longer than you are accustomed to, but that is normal.
    7. When you are satisfied that the new hard drive if functioning properly, you can erase the old drive and use it for any needs that you may have.

  • Does anyone know why my i pod will sync music but not pod casts or audio book (it used to)

does anyone know why my i pod will no longer sync podcasts or audio books when i still have memory left and it will sync music still???

Both Podcasts and audiobooks are synced using a separate tick box from the music. So, connect your iPod to iTunes and check the Device/Podcasts (and Books for the audiobooks) and make sure that the relevant box is ticked to enable syncing.
If you need to change the setting (that is, if you need to put the tick back on), you should perform a sync afterwards to make sure the change has been updated onto the iPod.
