  • More battery usage with iCloud?

    Got the iPhone 4 new in October 2010. It could just be a coincidence, but I need to ask this question to eliminate any possibles.  Since joining iCloud my iPhone 4 seems to be losing battery life quicker than usual.  I also find that there are many more menus and coinciding pages associated with iCloud on the phone.  Been doing the iCloud thing for about 2-weeks and ever since my battery seems to be draining down quicker than before iCloud.
    Has anyone been experienced anything similar?  Just trying to eliminate possibles.  Thanks for taking time to help.

    To anyone out there looking with similar woes.  Through a process of elimination, the culprit and 'hands down winner' to the enormous battery drain ended up being iCloud.  I removed everything associated with or using the iCloud on my iPhone 4, and this evening here at 9:31 pm, I still show nearly 65% of the battery life; having disconected it from the charger this morning around 6:45 am.
    Yesterday, I was forced to charge the phone before the end of the work day, it was showing red.  That gave me roughly 5 to 6 hours with a full charge.  Here it is 14 hours after coming off the charger and it has more than 50% life still to go.
    Very surprised how much juice iCloud required on the iPhone.  I won't use it on the iPhone, and probably will shut it down entirely since it makes no sense to have it only on one device; wouldn't be getting any usefulness from the program.
    Hope this helps!

  • Does anyone know what's up with the iPhone 4s' battery life? Some days it last a long time and other days it drains extremely fast.

    Does anyone know what's up with the iPhone 4s' battery life? Some days it last a long time and other days it drains extremely fast.

    Not to point out the obvious, but battery life depends very much on what is running and how much the device is being used.
    If the battery lasts longer on a day you make no phone calls, but lasts less the day you make 5 hour long calls, this is to be expected.
    If however the iPhone has the same level of use on both days, with different power consumption, this would infer a background process (or App) is trying to do something (connecting to server or creating a back up etc).
    I switched off all thrid party apps from being included in my iCloud backup, which saves a huge amount of space on the cloud and allows the back up to take barely a couple of minutes.
    Battery life seems ok so far on my 64GB 4S (Bluetooth on, Wi-Fi on, Location Services on, Push notifications on, Screen set to just under half brightness with Auto Adjust on)

  • Does anyone have more information on the virus disguised as adobe flashplayer

    Does anyone have more information on the virus disguised as adobe flashplayer that was released last Thursday 5 Apr 12.  Can you simply use time machine to reload the entire system from backup to make sure you don't have the virus.

    On ninemsn TECH news: It's called flashback trojan
    The computer security industry buzzed Thursday with warnings that more than a half-million Macintosh computers may have been infected with a virus targeting Apple machines.
    Flashback Trojan malware tailored to slip past "Mac" defenses is a variation on viruses typically aimed at personal computers (PCs) powered by Microsoft's Windows operating systems.
    The infections, spotted "in the wild" by Finland-based computer security firm F-Secure and then quantified by Russian anti-virus program vendor Dr. Web, come as hackers increasingly take aim at Apple computers.
    "All the stuff the bad guys have learned for doing attacks in the PC world is now starting to transition to the Mac world," McAfee Labs director of threat intelligence Dave Marcus told AFP.
    "Mac has said for a long time that they are not vulnerable to PC malware, which is true; they are vulnerable to Mac malware."
    Dr. Web determined that more than 600,000 Mac computers may be infected with Flashback, which is designed to let hackers steal potentially valuable information such as passwords or financial account numbers.
    Hackers trick Mac users into downloading the virus by disguising it as an update to Adobe Flash video viewing software.
    Apple has long boasted that Windows machines are more prone to hacking than Macs.
    Computer security specialists contend that the reason for the disparity was that since most of the world's computers were powered by Windows, hackers focused on systems that promised the most prey.
    As the popularity of Macs has soared, so has the allure of hacking Apple operating systems, according to Marcus.
    "There has been a significant increase in Mac malware in the last several quarters, so what we've seen with the Flashback Trojan isn't particularly surprising," Marcus said.
    "Cybercriminals will attack any operating system with valuable information, and as the popularity of Macs increase, so will attacks on the Mac platform."
    Computer users, no matter their operating systems of choice, need to protect machines with tactics including up-to-date anti-virus programs and avoiding risky habits such as opening files or clicking links from unknown sources.

  • Does anyone having any battery problem?

    i went to the apple store this morning and reserve a genius bar appointment, so i went back a few hrs ago to tell them my problems with my iPhone 4.
    1. my battery dies faster when its not lock.
    he turns off all of my notifications "off" and my turns off my push data for my email. i text my sister a few mins after and she says her notifications are "on" and it doesnt drain her batter at all.
    2. i get drop calls as well
    so he plugs in my iphone to his macpro to analyze the problem with the "drop calls", it shows none the past 2 weeks, but this past Saturday I was getting dropped calls like crazy.
    3. multi-task freezes when i delete apps (so i lock my iPhone to un-freeze it)
    he didnt get a chance to explain cuz i forgot to tell him lol
    im pretty sure this guy didnt know what he was talking about.
    back to the question.. does anyone having any battery problem?

    If you are using your iPhone a great deal, the battery will drain. A combination of things will drain the battery in a rapid pace. Even with the new battery size, it'll drain but at an increased amount of time added.
    * Internet 3D gaming
    * Internet RPG basic
    * Internet browsing with music
    * Texting with music
    * Internet based Videos (YouTube, HTML5 Quicktime, etc)
    * Music and local tasks
    * 2D or 3D Navigation with live-GPS enabled
    * Push Notifications, Push Mail
    * Background, FAS, and file transfer multitasking with every bit of RAM used to continue
    etc
    A handful of combined tasks will rapidly drain the battery. I usually recommend having chargers handy in home, car, and work as I do the same bit.

    You don't describe the problem in great detail.  Is this the issue you are describing?

    If so, then, "Yes."  I have the same problem.  Note that this isn't a tracking speed problem for me, it's a lag between my hand moving and the pointer moving on the external display.

  • Does anyone know how to comunicate with a USB port using labview 6?

    Does anyone know how to comunicate with a USB port using labview 6?

    Unfortunately, there is no way to communicate directly with a USB port before LabVIEW 7.0 and VISA 3.0. With the new releases, there are functions called "VISA USB Control In" and "VISA USB Control Out" that give you direct access to a USB port.
    You can definitely communicate with DAQ, Serial, or GPIB devices that are connected through a USB port, though. This is done seamlessly through the NI-DAQ, NI-Serial, and NI-488.2 drivers.

  • Does LTE use more data usage than 4G?

    Does LTE use more data usage than 4G?

    The question makes no sense.
    LTE and 4G are types of connections. They do not use Data, they allow your apps and services on the iPhone or iPad to use the Data access.
    In most cases 4G is slightly slower than LTE.

  • Z10 - High CPU and Battery Usage with BBM

    I recently updated my Z10 (UK and EE Carrier) to 10.2.1.3062 and every day or so I am getting very high CPU and Battery Usage with BBM running in the background.
    I have never used BBM and have no active or past conversations or contacts.
    This morning, it used around 60% battery in under 3 hours, with 95% of that time sat at 'idle' in my pocket.
    Sometimes its after I have connected it to my car stereo (charging and streaming music via USB) on an Alpine CDA-117Ri, but I dont think thats a cause.

  • HT1947 Does anyone else have my problem with atv3? Plays films in iTunes without any problems but on music every time I use the remote app on my iPhone 3GS it stops playing after around 5 tracks in. Anyone having this problem?

    Does anyone share my problem with atv3 I can play films through iTunes without any problems. When I start playing music using the remote app on my iPhone 3GS after around 5 tracks in it just stops playing and seems to lose my connection. Hoping this is human error on my part?

    I think this is probably a sign that your network could be better than it is.
    Intermittent problems are often a result of interference. Interference can be caused by other networks in the neighbourhood or from household electrical items.
    You can download and install iStumbler (NetStumbler for windows users) to help you see which channels are used by neighbouring networks so that you can avoid them, but iStumbler will not see household items.
    Refer to your router manual for instructions on changing your wifi channel or adjusting your multicast rate.
    There are other types of problems that can affect networks, but this is by far the most common, hence worth mentioning first.

  • Does anyone else have a problem with printers going offline?

    Macbook Pro OS X 10.6.8
    I received a Epson Artisan 730 All in One Wireless printer in Dec 2011 and spent literally hours trying to get the computer and printer to recognize each other.  After about a week of phone calls between Apple and Epson (each saying it wasn't their electronic with the problem) the issue was finally solved.
    In June 2012, the printer suddenly stopped working and once again, hours were spent on the phone with Apple and Epson techs, to no avail.  I found an article online about Reset Printing System and I was able to get it up and running again.
    August 1, 2012, the printer once again stopped working, saying it was offline.  Restarted computer & printer, checked for updates on Apple & Epson, reset printing system again and now the printer does not show when I click the "+" to add a printer.  In fact, nothing shows in the list.  I've pretty much given up for the day, but wrote a letter to Epson and am posting here.  What gives?  Does anyone know why the printer & computer stop communicating?  And why is the problem repeating itself?
