Does anyone really use the Dashboard?

I've got a lot of cool seeming widgets but find that using them is more awkward than not.
It seems quicker and simpler just to keep a calculator open and use info on the net. To display a bookmarked page is quicker and easier than calling up a widget and trying to get your info from the tiny window.
It seem to be more trouble than it's worth.
Anyone find it as useful as it seems it should be?

My wife and I LOVE the Dashboard. We use it constantly. The widgets we currently have up and use every day include NotePad, an extremely well designed and useful alternative to Stickies and TextEdit; iCal Events, which is not only a handy way to see whose birthday it is, we also have our favorite shows plugged in so we can see what's on TV tonight and tomorrow; Sing that iTune!, which downloads the song lyrics for whatever song is playing in iTunes; RADMovieTimes, a ridiculously easy way to see what's playing at the local movie theaters; Weather, which is probably the handiest widget of them all; and of course the Dictionary/Thesaurus, because we're terrible spellers.

The screen switches off after 20 seconds, so every time you want to check the time, you'll have to press the button.
Also, you'll have to recharge the iPod every day. Compare that to a proper watch where the battery will last 5 years.

If that's even possible, it would be up to the Apple engineers and programmers. Personally, I doubt that will happen.

I am in the middle of a project where I have to display a linear graph chart which presents the results from a simulation. After som searching I decided to use Cewolf (Chart Enabling Web Object Framework).

Now, I went through the tutorial step by step to make sure I did everything right, but then when it was time to view the results, the jsp page is displayed, but the image doesn't/is blank.

Ok, I moved my JSP page down to the root folder and finally got in touch with Cewolf. But now I've encountered a new problem. I get a long error message instead of a graph:

IIf you export the DVD and then go into the library bundle while the app is still open they should be there. Do with extreme care. Copy from bundle. Don't move them.

Several ways to get similar results. Image > Adjustments > Posturize with low values similar to what you'd use n Cutout. This is the most flexible way I can think of as you keep the image in RGB mode with layers intact. A more radical approach would be to reduce bit depth using Indexed Colour. You'll need to experiment with settings, try changing Forced to Primaries, and Matte to Foreground Color. There's no going back from this route, although you can change the mode back to RGB to re-enable layers, adjustment layers etc.
A nice thing about the Filter gallery filters is that you can change the layer to a Smart object with all the control that gives you.
Now if only this forum could filter out bizarre content.

I downloaded and tried EasyFind. It works but it took 30+ seconds to complete finding 3 files that are on One of my Five 25+ Gb partitions of my 130 Gb Seagate Cuda(Really 160 Gb, but my Sawtooth will only recognize 130) I figured that if I ever got a better box, I could reformat it to see the whole 160 Gb. So, as far as I can see, Spotlight's indexing scheme which finds the files instantly is probably preferable. Spot light allows you to rename your files from within it's app window. I've always thought that was pretty powerful. Could my doing so be causing me any issues? As i said it is the inability to Type in the Finder that seemed to be caused from changing file Extentions that were mis-written. Maybe it was a delayed reaction to my renaming files in the Spotlight app? I've done both on occasion.
As for these .DS_Store files. Apparently you can NOT stop them from being written to any folder that you touch/open/view during a days session. But, as a function of the OS, are the essential to have in their respective folders Forever? I've looked at the .DS_Store terminator app briefly and assume that getting rid of these files won't hurt the regular operation of my OS. They will just be re-written if I ever have to go back to any particular folder again. But, apparently, some have said that if the plan on burning a CD or DVD of their data, they delete the .DS_Store files first and then do the burn.
I'm thinking from your having suggested this tremination app that you suspect that my having all of these ,DS_Store files could be a situation where any of them could have become corrupted and terminating them regularly should be part of my regular maintenance.
Does that sound like I'm understanding what I can do?

Your Desktop Picture settings and Dock items are stored in the files
/Users/your short user name/Library/Preferences/com.apple.desktop.plist and
/Users/your short user name/Library/Preferences/com.apple.dock.plist
in the "Preferences" folder in your user library. This looks like the system has trouble to write to these files. Check the permissions on your user library and remove the above files from your user library, then log off and on again.
Your user library is hidden in Lion and Mt. Lion. To reveal it, use the Finder's "Go" menu. Select "Go" in the Finder's main menu bar and hold down the alt/option key, until you see the "Library" in the drop-down menu. Double click it to open a Finder window, so you can browse the files inside.

Thank you for the response. Typically this error is caused by installing an older verison of iTunes than you had prior. When you installed iTunes did you download the program directly from iTunes.com, or did you use an older copy of the program on your computer? If you used an older version or are unsure, uninstall all the components one more time and download a new copy of iTunes via the link below.
