Does anyone remember Qix?

Does anyone remember the arcade game Qix (or better still, currently have access to one)?
I'd like to write a version of that game - I always really enjoyed it when in my teens. However my teens were SOME time ago and I cannot remember some of the important details.
E.g.
1. Did the fuses get lost if you managed to build a rectangle round them?
2. Were there stages with two Qix's on-screen (I think there were)?
3. Any idea of the scoring used? I remember that you had a choice of two draw speeds and the slower one got you more points.

Yeah I remember Qix!
That game was hard core!
1. The fuses were not lost, the just followed the path of the box around until reaching the open again.
2.Yes, I think there were.
3.I think the slower one gave more points, something like twice as many. I also think that there was a bonus depending on how much % of the screen was covered, but amybe I'm remembering another game like JezBall or something.
Let me know if you get it up and running,

  • Does anyone remember the CrossGrade thing that Apple did a few years ago?

Does anyone remember the CrossGrade thing that Apple did a few years ago? My understanding is that it brought academic versions of FCP and Studio up to retail versions. Now I'm trying to upgrade to Studio 2 and the guy at the store who initially agreed with me that this is what the program did and then he went in back of the store to do some research and when he came back says that crossgrade only filled out the disks in the set i.e. if you had FCP 4 Academic and did the CrossGrade you would have Studio 1 Academic... If I misunderstood the program I can admit it but I have been under this belief for so long... So the big question is... Does or did the CrossGrade program bring academic software up to retail/ upgradable versions???

The crossgrade only exchanged Power PC versions of FCP/FCS for Universal Binary (Intel compatible) versions. The software on Retail and Academic versions is identical. The difference is in the license -you would need a completely new serial # to go from Academic to Retail.

  • Does anyone remember the old "quasi-arpeggiator" Logic feature?

I seem to recall that I was able to hold down a note (or chord) and Logic would automatically record notes according to a quantisation value such as 16th notes, with note velocities equal to channel pressure.
I know about the arpeggiator in the environment set to "ALL", and I realize that I could build a transformer to map mod wheel or pressure to note velocities, but I think there was another way to do this.
Maybe I'm thinking about Studio Vision? Does anyone remember how to do this?

Someone asked here ( I thought) and someone responded with a good tutorial on how it could be done. Does anyone remember that thread or save a copy of that tutorial?
    Thanks,

    I'm sorry I don't remember, Stan.

  • Does anyone remember the Apple II Computer Desk?

My first Apple product in early 1981 was an Apple II+ with twin disk drives and a color monitor. My boss was so impressed with it that he bought me an official Apple Desk, complete with sidearm. It was such a nice piece I  kept it all these years and recently gave it to my son for his iMac. Here is what it looks like today. Anyone remember this item? [It was expensive, on the order of $800 if memory serves me well!]

    NN2RL et al
Apple was always  into branding stuff back in those days. Any way to make some $$. The desk became known as the MacTable
and went through many design phases
GoogleImage "MacTable desk" for some interesting pics.
Plain Google has a top hit on eBay for one like yours.

  • Does anyone remember that SIDS workaround?

Someone posted an idea for a SIDS workaround. There's an option to keep samples and other items loaded when closing a song. The idea was to close and re-open the song with this option enabled so that it would happen quickly. That would make it practical to close and re-open a lot- maybe even with a macro before each time you play the song.
I have searched the forum, the manual, and the user interface, and I just can't seem to find where you set that option to keep samples loaded when you close a song.
Anyone remember where it is? Any success with this trick?
    Thanks!

it seems that logic songs are becoming corrupted more easily.
a recent situation for me was when i was trying to copy and paste settings into an existing song (autoload). after that i stumbled on to ischwartz's undo bug. THEN the click wouldn't work in record. it would in playback but not in record despite hunting all over logic for the cause.
i created a frsh song from option->new, copied everything across and all was well. until logic crashed trying to record midi in real time with the score editor up. repeatedly. i restarted and repaired permissions. i haven't had a crash since - and hammering my computer with 2 seperate massive orchestral projects with plug-ins working day and night.
i beginning to be of the opinion that logic files corrupt more easily than they used to.

  • ADDRESS CARDS of yesteryear does anyone remember the old version system 2.0

    Howdy.
I'm looking for a simple filing system similar to the old address cards of years ago.
A simple one where you can add multiple people's details and notes and just hit a search for their surname and up would come the details?
    Is this available for Panther?

    Hi Tracy,
You have Address Book in your Applications folder. I think it does what you want.

  • HT2240 does anyone remember the url to the old apple page for retrieving license keys?

I cant find my old Quicktime 7 license key. I can't get it from the Apple Store as the link for downloading software license keys was removed a while ago. So Apple did have a page where you could look up your previous software license keys years ago, but the Apple Store design of the present makes that next to impossible to find. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Look at the link on the top of the second page of http://www.google.com/search?q=app+store+lost+quicktime+license  It seems to mention something about QTP codes but you have to log into Apple.

  • Does anyone remember streamvideo and sprites?

I have an old website handed down to me. I believe it was
produced on 2004 or earlier with embedded video(streamvideo). It is
called a sprite not movie. I have isolated the video and it will
play back when i play it but it wont compress it or i cant make an
flv...not sure i have thr right terminology here. i want to be able
to make an flv and use it in a new site. is this possible..how can
i salvage this video?...the original "tape" is lost.
    thanks

You can select the disk from the Finder and then select "Get Info" (command-I) from the file menu. That will show the capacity, what's used and the available space.

  • I'm currently signed onto my home network and want to go on with another computer but don't remember my password for my network.  Does anyone know where to find this?  It's a password that I set myself, not the one that came with my router.

I'm currently signed onto my home network and want to go on with another computer but don't remember my password for my network.  Does anyone know where to find this?  It's a password that I set myself, not the one that came with my router.

It's in your Keychain on the computer you usually use to connect to your network - the "kind" will be "AirPort Network Password".
Your Keychain can be opened by using the Keychain Access program. It is in your Utilities Folder.
Open Keychain Access, and type airport in the search field. You will see a number of entries. Choose the one with the name of your wireless network, open it, and check the box next to "show password". Before it reveals itself you will be asked for your login password - the one you use to log in to your MacBook.
The network password will appear in the box.
    Quit Keychain Access.

  • I used to be able to pull photos from my iphone into my itunes but something has changed. I dont remember how I did it before but I think an option is missing. Does anyone know what the process was for moving pics from your iphone to your itunes?

I cant download the new iTunes soflware on my PC because I have not yet been able to sync my photos from my phone to my itunes. If I update to the new software on my pc, for some reason I can't then update my phone software. What Ive had to do the past few times is go the the Apple Store and have them load the new iTunes on my phone for me but then that means I lose all my pics. I dont remember how I used to get my photos from my phone to my itunes but i know i used to be able to. I think I lost some of my options. Does anyone know what this could be?  PS: I have the iphone 3g and Windows XP on my PC

  • I could swear that I had my droid "speak" replys to my texts but don't remember how.  Does anyone know how?

I could swear that when I first got my Droid, I somehow got it to "speak" replys to text messages but I don't remember how I did it.  Does anyone know how?

    Hello cuemagic,
Having your device read your text replies is a neat feature.  On your device you can enable voice readouts by navigating to Settings>Accessibility>Check Accessibility and Voice Readouts.  However, this feature will enable the device to read every action the phone participates in.  You can speak your responses by pressing the speaker icon on the virtual keyboard in the text application, but in order to have your device read the text replies you receive and only that feature you may look into downloading a 3rd party application to assist you such as Handcent.  Please keep in mind Verizon Wireless does not support 3rd party applications and if you download an application this is at your discretion.  Please let me know if you have any additional questions.  Thank you.

  • TS3276 I just upgraded to 10.8.2 and Mail is having a problem. It won't remember my password for getting mail; but it does remember the password for sending mail, i.e., smtp. Does anyone know of a fix?

I just upgraded to 10.8.2 and Mail is having a problem. It won't remember my password for getting mail; but it does remember the password for sending mail, i.e., smtp. Does anyone know of a fix?

The solution surprised even me, and we've been using Macs since 1984 (still have an original 128K).
I contacted Apple support, and because we had just upgraded yesterday, clicked on the "exception" button as opposed to paying the $19.99 one-time support fee. An Apple tech called and the problem was solved in two minutes.
Somehow during the installation of OS 10.8.2 (over 10.6.x) the key chain data for my email ISP login password got corrupted. The solution was to delete both the POP mail and SMTP entries in my keychain.
Back to Mail, it asked for the POP password, I entered it and bingo, mail got busy downloading. Interestingly, the password was also entered into the SMTP panel.
So, that's it. Thanks for you response, Mr. Hoffman, and regards.
