Does Apple Messages app work on OSX Lion ?
I can't see it and i can't see how to install it ?
Thanks,

Messages was released as a beta on 10.7, however when it was released as a full version Apple dropped support for 10.7 & made it require 10.8 & higher

  • Is "Messages" app working properly for your Nework users?

    I'm seeing a very odd issue where the new 10.8 "Messages" app not acting properly for users with a networked home directory.  If logging in on the server, the users' Message app works just fine.  When logging on from a client mounting their home directory over the network, the Messages app can send messages fine, but does not receive messages.  What is odd is that the app does get the signal that the person is responding to an outgoing message showing their avatar and "...", so something is being recieved, but no message ever shows up.
    Anyone else seeing this on client systems?
    Thanks,

    I've got messages server running on Mountain Lion Server (fresh install) and both 10.7.4 and 10.8.0 clients are able to message each other, the 10.7.4 clients are network home users but I was forced to change the 10.8 user to a mobile home account because everytime they opened Mail all there contacts would get deleted.
    Assuming your client are on 10.8 you have probably found another network home bug, consider switching to mobile homes until it is fixed

  • Why does apple allow apps in the App Store hijack your Internet when certain websites? Why doesn't apple remove their products from the App Store?.

    Why does apple allow apps in the App Store hijack your Internet when certain websites? Why doesn't apple remove their products from the App Store?.

    Apple saw it as their responsibility since the redirection took me to the App Store. They assisted me in stopping the redirection which is occurring on many peoples iPhones. It's a have java script problem that adking is using to get you to buy their games. The websites work normal and then all of the sudden the website is taken over by adking.com.  You can no longer use the website as it immediately takes you to the App Store without ever showing a popup to cancel the redirection. They were very helpful fixing the problem should others experiencing this specifically with adking.com.
    No need to get defensive. I'm not the only one experiencing the problem Apple said.

  • How well does the TomTom app work?

    Let's hear it, how well does the TomTom app work compared to a dedicated GPS device? Are you using TomTom's special cat kit? Is there a way to load TomTom binary files (POIs) onto the iphone?

    I have used a Garmin Nuvi760 for about 2 years and have been very pleased. When TomTom had a sale for $50 and now seems to be $60, I bought it. I also bought a kensington car mount. (http://us.kensington.com/html/17546.html). I like it. with my 3GS, there is no need for the amplified TomTom car kit. The speech quality could be better but it's loud enough. I do like the on screen presentations a bit more than my Garmin. I'm still getting used to the interface. It's a real good thing that I can use my contacts file to set destinations. My next step is to go on an 800 mile trip this month and compare the two systems side by side. So far, TomTom has not always made the best route choice and once sent me to the right address in an adjoining city. (This is southern Cal) Not good, but these are map issues which will always be evolving. Is it worth it? Yes. At $100, maybe. The good thing is that my phone is always with me and so is my GPS. I does put a drain on the battery, so it should be on charging while using in a car.

  • What apple email program works with OSX 10.6.7?  I have Apple mail 4.4, but it doesn't work with OSX 10.6.7?

    What apple email program works with OSX 10.6.7?  I have Apple mail 4.4, but it doesn't work with OSX 10.6.7?

    The reason you're seeing this is that you have somehow gotten an outdated copy of Mail on your system.  One possible reason is that you moved Mail out of the Applications folder (or into a sub-folder inside the Applications folder), in the process preventing it from being updated.  You'll want to put Mail back directly in the Applications folder if this is the case.  The other possibility is that you have somehow installed, restored or copied an old copy of Mail on your machine.
    In either case, as long as Mail is in the right place, applying the combo updater will update Mail to the current version.  Software Update cannot do that because Software Update sees that you are using the current version of the OS and believes there is no need to update, while the combo updater "forces" installation of all updated files.

    Does Apple Airport Extreme work on 220 as well as 110 volts?

    The AirPort Extreme operates on 100-240 Volts and 50/60 Hz, so it will work just about anywhere in the world if you have the right AC wall adapter.  A voltage converter is not needed.
    However, wireless standards are different in different countries, so you may not be able to use certain channels legally in some countries. The document below illustrates what wireless channels are authorized in various regions.

  • HT204003 does the passbook app work on the iPhone4 because I downloaded the apps for it but I continue to see the original screen for the app and I can't find passbook in my settings.

    does the passbook app work on the iPhone4 because I downloaded the apps for it but I continue to see the original screen for the app and I can't find passbook in my settings.

    Some time in the future (Starbucks Tweeted the other day "by the end of the month") the Starbucks app will be Passbook enabled. When that time comes, you will log into the app with your credentials, select your Starbucks card, and you should be given an opportunity to add that card to Passbook at that time. From there, whenever you walk into a Starbucks the alert will be displayed on the lock screen, just slide your finger across the the alert and show your card to pay.
    Now, I have not seen the new app, of course, so I am just speculating based on how the Walgreens, Fandango and Target apps work. Also, I am not sure yet if this will work in any Starbucks, or just the one that you consider your favorite, or primary location. Again, that is just based on how the other apps seem to work. We'll see.

  • Why does my messages app on the iphone put 6/7 random contacts who I haven't messaged at the top of the list of people to message?

    In my messages app, let's say I sent a text to my friend 'John'. By right, his name and text should appear at the top of the list of messages, right? But instead, my phone decides to put let's say 'Mary', 'Sophie' 'Luke', 'Paul', 'dan' and 'Michelle' all on the top of this list instead. All the messages to/from them are and have been empty/deleted with weeks and i haven't contacted them in weeks either. But my phone still puts them at the top of the list, and the time stamp usually state the current time on my clock at that time. So Even though I texted john seconds ago, these people all remain above his name in my messages, why is this does anyone know?

  • I cannot access the Verizon Messages app from any computer.  The message   app works fine across my phone and tablets but I cannot use it on my desktop.

    I get the following error message whenever I try to access the Web App for messages:
    This mobile number does not have permission to send messages and cannot sign up for this service. Please contact the account owner for this mobile number to change permissions.
    I tried Online Chat support but they could not solve the problem and suggested I post in the forum.  All I am trying to do is access my text messages on my Desktop.  I pay extra each month for Messages+.  Works fine on my phone tablets, but not on my desktop or laptop.

  • Does apple reject app load pages from web?

    Hi,
    We are developing an iOS app, which loads the pages developed in web side. Web pages are created by HTML 5 and jquery mobile framework. We loads that pages by using UIWebView Component. We have controlled the web pages thru Objective C. Our App is also using push notification to alert the user on certain events.
    My question is, Does Apple reject this sort of app? Since most of the pages loads from web side.
    Thanks!

    that's why above codes are not work.
    BufferedInputStream in  = null;
        ServletOutputStream out = null;
        String contentType = "image/png";
        try{
         in = new BufferedInputStream(getServletContext().getResourceAsStream("WEB-INF" + filename));
            response.setContentType(contentType);
            response.setHeader("Content-Disposition", " inline; filename=" + filename);
            out = response.getOutputStream();
            byte[] buffer = new byte[4 * 1024];
            int data;
            while((data = in.read(buffer)) != -1){
           out.write(buffer, 0, data);
            out.flush();
          catch(Exception e){
            e.printStackTrace();
        }You can ask then how above code is working. That is running in server side. that's why you are getting.
    If you want work with first code, you have to move your docs directory to under the root directory.
    Prior that read the directory Structure of Web application.
