Does Apple offer any sort of trade-in program?

I think it's silly that they release a new model every year, but I guess that's just the way the industry works. Unfortunately, I don't have the money to buy a new model every year, so I want to know if Apple has any sort of trade-in program where iPod (touch) owners can trade in their old model towards the new model.

Technology moves fast, which means many capable gadgets go from daily use to trash heap fairly quickly within a yearly basis. What was worth months ago becomes an obsolete technology as with Ipod upgrades every fall. I hate to bring bad news, but there is no trade-in program that apple offers to recycle your old gadget for cash. However that doesn't mean that other companies offer that same service for apple Ipods. Let me give you the information you need of those online service trade for old gadgets.

  • Is there a way to add memory to an iphone 4s or does Apple offer any kind of trade in/upgrade?

I bought the 16G iPhone 4S thinking that it would be plenty of memory since I had an iPod and was never close to using that much.  I had no idea that all of the apps and phone aspects and such took up so much room.  Now my phone is full and I was wondering if Apple had any kind of option to trade in your old phone and pay to upgrade to more memory.

You can't install more storage space later.  You get 30 days (I believe) to decide if you are unhappy with a phone and return it for a refund.  After that there is no trade-in option.  You have to see if you can sell it (tricky) and buy a new one.

  • Does Apple have some sort of Trade-In program at any of their local stores?

I bought a Mid-2010 27 in. iMac from a producer friend of mine, it has the newest OS X, a 2TB hard drive and 16 GB of RAM. I'm wondering if I could go to one of their local stores and put my current iMac towards a newer model.
If anybody has the answer please let me know.
    Thanks everybody!

No, Apple do not do part exchange. You can sell your iMac on eBay and put the money towards a newer one.

  • HT4623 Does apple offer any "trade-in" for Ipad 1....are we stuck forever at OS 5.1?

Does Apple offer any trade-in value for those of us early-adopters who bought the first version of ipad???    Are we forever stuck at OS 5.1 as OS 6 is not supported on the original Ipad?

Your only option is to sell the iPad and buy a new one.

  • Does Apple offer any software that will allow you to download and markup pdf documents

Are their any less expensive programs that one can use to markup a downloaded pdf document.  Adobe wants $399 for their programs

Preview does limited marking up, but that may or may not be printable or exportable to e-mail depending on how
well written the PDF document was.
You can export a PDF from Preview to TIFF or JPEG and edit with http://www.lemkesoft.com/ 's GraphicConverter.
You can always ask the publisher of the said PDF to offer a simple HTML editable form online.
There are services for many tax bureaus that offer online editing of one's taxes without ever having to buy Adobe Acrobat Pro.

  • Does Apple have any future plans to add the 8x DL SuperDrive to the 15.4"?

Just as the thread reads: Does Apple have any future plans to add the 8x SuperDrive (DVD+R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW) to the 15.4" MacBook Pro? I'm very interested in this unit for college, but I need to have DL burning capabilities.
    Thanks!
    Randy
      Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Actually it's not a question of when Apple feel like it.
The old Powerbook was 1.1 inches and had an 8x drive. The drive from the PB was too tall for the MBP. The 17 does not have the problem as it uses a "wider" drive, one too wide for the 15
So until someone manufactures an 8 speed drive as thin as the 4x drive Apple can't offer it.
I hope that helps somewhat - it may be an idea to look at what the major drive manufacturers are coming out with. Also the timings for Blue Ray and DVD HD may mean that Apple decide to skip going back to 8x drives anyway - of course that depends on the size of those drives and Apples MBP form factor staying the same.
Totally agree with what Rachel said also.
    Best of luck.

I do backup with iCloud.  I can't wait until the new iMac is available so that I can once again have my files in more than 1 location without needing to rely solely on the cloud.
I also rely on iTunes and my MacBook and Time Machine as well as backing up to iCloud. I know many users know have gone totally PC free, but I chose to use iCloud merely as my third backup.
I assume that the restore would result in my ability to open Pages and Numbers and fix the problem with deleting apps, but this would also mean that if my Numbers documents still exist solely within the app and are just not on iCloud for some reason that they would be gone forever.  Is that right?
In a word, yes. In a little more detail.... When you restore from an iCloud backup, you must erase the device and start all over again. There is no other way to access the backup in iCloud without erasing the device. Consequently, you are starting all over again. Therefore, it would also be my assumption that Pages and Numbers will work again and that the deleting apps issues would be fixed as well.
If the documents are not in the backup, and you do not have a backup elsewhere, the documents could be gone forever.

  • Lync 2010 client does not offer any NON-direct UDP Candidates in its SIP Invite' SDP - why?

    Hello.
We have a customer, experiencing the following issue.
They have big multi-continental Lync Server 2010 Enterprise Edition deployment, with non-NAT'ted Edge Pool.
The call scenario is simple: peer-to-peer video (A/V) call between external Lync client and Video system, Cisco VCS
in this case but does not matter, which (video system) only supports media over UDP (which is nothing strange). The VCS has a lot of video endpoints all over the Globe, Lync clients are also everywhere, so call can be any "distance", not predictable.
All video endpoints are registered on this single VCS.
The video call, as I suspect, only succeeds IF direct peer-to-peer UDP connection works and fails otherwise.
I skip the overall design, keeping here only what is relevant.
Video system offers only its own local IP as UDP candidate (type = host), which in this particular
case is expected, let's assume there is no TURN etc expected on video system' side, it is directly Internet-facing.
Now the main bit. Lync client offers ALL proper TCP candidates: both local AND non-local, using external
public IP addresses of both A/V Edge Hardware LoadBalancer VIP and public IP address of one of Edge servers.
Those candidates are enlisted perfectly fine (I checked carefully), so SIP INVITE has them all offered.
Now: the Lync 2010 client ONLY offers direct/local UDP candidate (type = host) with its own IP address,
but does NOT offer any NON-local UDP Candidates at all (while, again, for TCP candidates the full set of non-local (A/V Edge) ones is offered).
    WHY this can happen?
Again my guess on where to dig is: TCP candidates (which are completely useless for such video call)
are all offered fine with A/V Edge's public IPs, both VIP and particular node ones. Does this fact make sense?
WHAT can be the reason why the same or similar remote/Edge Candidates are not being
offered/enlisted for UDP while for TCP they are offered?
What I already found, to be excluded easily: the whole client sign-in and in-band provisioning is OK, all about
certificates is Ok, and all about MRAS URI and MRAS Credentials (looking sign-in traces) is also fine. Client gets proper MRAS username/password and ALL about signaling before SDP is also fine (no TLS or MRAS related errors).
I cannot rule-out potential DNS issues at the moment, however unlikely: otherwise how it would get proper list
of NON-local TCP candidates and all SIP signalling with the Edge working Ok if it would be DNS-specific issue?
What, however, I have not confirmed is: UDP port 3478 is most likely NOT opened on/between all of the involved parties (Edge's private and public interfaces, Hardware LoadBalancer's interfaces and client),
and/or UDP 3478 communication is most likely getting blocked completely (when the client is external), however for instance TCP 443 is everywhere opened.
Can THIS be somehow related to why it properly allocates non-local TCP but none of
    non-local UDP Candidates?
What traces show on call negotiation is ICE Connectivity Failed and/or ICE Warning - I have real it carefully, did WireShark'ing, what I suspect is: simply ICE Connectivity Checks fails on direct P2P UDP which is of course expected, and because no non-local
UDP candidates are offered and TCP is not allowed on video system' side - it fails. WireShark shows the following: millions of outgoing UDP from the client to Cisco VCS and not even one INcoming UDP back from VCS.
Sometimes, depending on the external client's location, call, however, succeeds. I guess (guess)
this is because SOMETIMES direct UDP flows Ok, while in vast majority of the cases it expectedly does not.
    Big thanks.
    /roubchi

    Hi,
    VideoendpointsonlysupportUDPmedia.ICEusuallyoffers3candidates: Host(privateIP), ServerReflexive(outsideIPaddressoffirewalllocaltothemediasupplyingagent–B2BUAorLyncClient),

You can refer to the link of “Cisco
VCS and Microsoft Lync Deployment Guide (X8.1)” to check the configuration of Lync integrated with Cisco VCS.

I use Pro Logic 9.1.8.  and see that to upgrade to Pro Logic X I need to buy the full package again. Does apple offer special conditions for their Apple clients ? Are users of apple care protection plan better served ?

Old saying applies here most of the time......
"If it ain't broken, don't fix it"
I choose to use LP9 with Snow Leopard myself (10.6.8 and 9.1.6) for most of my commercial work simply because I find that combo very stable and provides the best overall performance for my setups here... but I am also using LPX with Mavericks as part of my client support and that works fine too although with a drop in performance due to the heavier demands made on the hardware by the newer OS X and LPX graphic routines for example..

My iphone plus is bending, what does Apple offer regarding this issue?
I am trying to get to contact with Apple Customer Care, but not clear to me how to do it beside this channel of communication. I bought the phone from kosovar carrier which is under Slovenian ownership. This means that the original warranty comes from Slovenia, bit complicated but still I would like to get an urgent answer how to proceed with this issue, thanks

Maybe i should have only asked if anyone is aware on apple's policy
regarding bending. I took the point that this seems not a proper forum to
pose Q's to apple thanks to both

I appreciate your repsonse, but the irony is that Apple is still scheduling "One-to-One" & Joint Venture training on iWeb knowing that it all will end next June. ..
Just to add this : iWeb -- the app itself -- is still supported, updated only months ago and as part of the ilife '11 DVDs still widely spread even though it is not sold on the AppStore it is official part of iLife. It runs in Lion and there is zero issues with the app. So a training makes sense, doesn't it ?.
They would only to exclude the "publish to me.com" part to be up to date for courses and trainings :-≠

  • Does Apple sell any speakers compatible with the iPhone?

I looking to buy some external speakers for my iPhone. Does Apple sell any speakers that work with the phone? In particular I've been looking at this one:
    http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPLE/WebObjects/AppleStore.woa/wa/RSLID?mco=D91 CB922&nplm=TK199VC/A
Do you think it will work?

I too am looking for a set of speakers I can use as a dock on my nightstand. Most speakers currently available will work, but you'll have to put the iPhone in Airplane mode to avoid the AT&T GSM buzz interference on the speakers. As far as I've seen nothing has been released yet that is "made for iPhone" w/ shielded speakers to avoid the AT&T GSM buzz.
I did find this last week and hopefully these will be available soon -

Looks like the JBL Series 3 are being "made for iPhone".

Does Apple have any plan to add Persian writing support in iWork?
    like in the next updates?

There is support, OSX has 3 input methods for Persian:
    Menu > System Preferences… > Language & Text > Input Sources > Persian/Persian - ISIRI 2901/Persian QWERTY
but OSX has general problems with placing cursors in the right position in R to L languages.
Mellel is currently the best solution for all the R to L languages.
