Does Apple sell MacBook Pros with matte screens?

Do the non retina MacBook Pro's or MacBook Airs come with  matte screens?  I have read that their was an option for this, but have been unable to find it.

Not any more.  That was available on the 15" and 17" non retina models which are lo longer offered.
I have read that the current retina MBPs  have displays that are 'in between'  the old glossy and matte displays.
Ciao.

  • Last model Macbook Pro with matte screen (not anti-glare)

    Hello,
Does anyone know what the model number for the last produced 17" MacBook Pro with a true matte screen is? Alternatively, what was the last 15" model number, if it was later?
    Thank you,
    SB

To answer your question, we'd need to know how you are defining "true matte screen". Have you looked at the current MBP displays and decided they aren't a "true" enough matte for you?

  • Why doesn't Apple Retail Store sell MacBook pros with SSD?

I have read that it is because they only sell MacBook Pros with the most reliable technology and because SSD still needs to be proven.
So many rumors Out there make the purchase decision really tough.
And, why doesn't apple offer a 7,200 rpm drive for the 13" mbp? According to the forum, the 13" can take it???

If you are interested in SSD reliability, that is not a very simple question to answer, given that there are many factors involved in the idea of "reliability" and if you start to do some research in the area, the idea of "reliability" will likely extend to questions about performance and cost. These questions can then get rather technical, and would likely extend to "performance under specific conditions of use" and "cost versus perceived and actual benefit".
Apple currently lacks TRIM support for SSDs, but various SSDs vendors have addressed this issue in one way or another. This is typically through a proprietary implementation of the SSD controller, and, in general, how it handles garbage collection to offset the lack of TRIM support.
Although rumors may lend to the difficulty in making a decision about whether to wait for a certain technology or not, "off the cuff" user experiences also flood the posts. ABC is super fast, XYZ is faster. It is great to hear about user experience, but sometimes it is useful to go beyond these. Benchmark tests can actually size some of this up into quantitative values, but then often times benchmarks, by their inherent nature, are addressing a very specific set of circumstances. So, what their results might show don't necessarily always carry over to a use case with different parameters.
The market for SSDs is relatively new and currently there is no market standard for many of the sub-technologies that go into making one. In this sense it is a little like the "Beta and VHS" battle of old, but less delineated since even within the distinction between TRIM vs No-TRIM support, their is no shortage of proprietary endeavor to produce an SSD that does not require TRIM. And then while all of that is going on, the SSD market - aside from the TRIM / No-TRIM issue is still evolving at quite a rapid pace.
And just to wrap the whole thing up into the larger context, HDDs have obviously been around for some time now, but there is still no shortage of debate on which is the "best". Although, I will say that given their relative market maturity, HHD debates do tend to have less of the current "hoopla" and fanfare and that many SSD vendors may actually be counting on to catch your attention.

Should I get a macbook pro with 256gb ssd and 8 gb ram for € 1.407,23, or a macbook pro with 8 gb ram and 128 gb ssd for: € 1.314,06..

I suggest that you contact the department at the school where you will be studying and pose that question to them.  Understand that at the present time, there are no third party storage options available allowing you to increase storage.  If you exceed the storage of the MBP, you will be forced to rely on an external HDD.
    Ciao.

  • Macbook Pro with external screen

    Hello guys!
    First my setup:
    Macbook Pro 2011 13" Low-spec.
    Acer 24" FullHD external screen.
    Apple keyboard.
    Wireless mouse.
Now what i want to do with this is, i want to have my macbooks lid open, but the screen shut off, so i can use the great resolution of my Acer screen.
    What i've been trying:
Have both open at same time in mirroring mode - MBP's resolution is "default" but my Acer screen turns to a REALLY REALLY bad resolution. Even though it's still set to it's default as 720p it's really bad. Now if i turn it to another resolution on my acer screen, it's just still bad.
Because of that, i've been trying to close the lid - This gives me a really great resolution on my Acer screen, and it's all sharp and nice. But as soon as i open the lid of my macbook pro, it goes back to the really bad resolution. Now you may wonder why i can't use it with the lid close - Because i want to use the inbuilt microphone for "Ventrillo" maybe the trackpad too, and being able to use the webcam too would be perfect.
So the question is: How do i turn the screen of my macbook of, so my Acer screen can have it's great resolution, and still be able to take advantage of the macbooks inbuilt luxury stuff.
Any help would be highly appreciated.
    Over and out.

You don't have to turn off the built-in display to use the Acer at its maximum resolution. Just turn off Mirroring in Displays Preferences, and you can set each display's resolution independently of the other. In Mirrored mode, both displays always operate at exactly the same resolution.

  • Can apple release macbook pro with nvidia Geforce GTX 760

can you please add macbook pro a nvidia GTX 760 graphics card

No, we can't. We are users just like yourself
Seeing as how the nvidia GTX 760 is a graphics card for the PCIe bus structure which the MBP does not have, I think you chances of getting Apple to do that are right up there with the snowball in you know where.

  • Older macbook pro with broken screen and secondary monitor

So I have an old 2007 macbook pro that was upgraded to mountain lion (I don't remember what version of it though). The screen broke and I'm trying to hook it up to my tv to use it as a screen as a quick fix for now. Of course, it's opening on the second desktop but I need it to open to my normal desktop without being able to see my main screen. Is that possible, and if so, how? Ps. The disc drive doesn't work either so that can't be used.

If you intend to install Leopard, I suppose you have an old MBP, right?
On mine (2007 Core2duo alu, grey keyboard), I can use F7 key to switch display when using an external screen. Does it help?
I'd advise you not to use an external drive, but install your external drive (provided it's 2.5") in your MBP.

  • External monitor for macbook pro with dead screen

Macbook pro built in 2007 has a dead screen but is otherwise ok. Connected external monitor displays only the astral starburst screen on all macs. How can I get the monitor to display my desktop if I can't see the macbook screen?

Connected external monitor displays only the astral starburst screen on all macs.
Then it is working as designed.
By default, the external screen is combined with the built-in screen into an Extended Desktop, as seen in the Arrange tab below. You need to (Gather Windows) to get all controls on all displays, then drag the tiny white MenuBar to the display where you want it to appear. Then things will begin to operate as you expect.

  • Sell MacBook Pro with fresh Mavericks install

    Hello everyone
About 5 years ago I got my first Mac, a MBP late 2008. A few weeks ago I got a new one and have decided to give the old one to some family in England (I live in Denmark myself). So I deleted the data on the harddrive (7 pases cause why not) and booted into the recovery mode in order to reinstall Mavericks.
So I needed an Apple ID in order to do so. No problem, the family gave me theirs but the installer complained about the country of the ID and hence the request couldn't be completed. Oh well, I tried again in order to somehow get a clue on what's going on.
Now I'm met with a "This Apple ID has not purchased Lion". The original OS on the machine was Leopard, but I upgraded to Snow Leopard right away so I still have that original disk. However, the CD-drive is not working (whenever any kind of disk is inserted it's ejected after a few secs. That's a problem that's 3 years old or so, and I didn't bother to fix it because I've never used it and the warranty had expired) so I can't just install a fresh copy of that.
I can't use my own Apple ID and install Mavericks, because they can't change it.
I can't use the original install DVD and install an old version of OS X (not to mention that they'd have to pay for all updates up to Mavericks).
Mavericks itself is a free install, so I don't quite get why this has to be such a hassle.
I'm considering using an USB-drive to install a copy of Mavericks. I'd download the installer by logging into the App Store with their Apple ID and then dd the file into a generic flash drive.
Any ideas to make this easier?
TL;DR how to change ownership of MacBook Pro including fresh install of Mavericks, can't use the original installation DVD.
