Does Apple support UVD or PureVideo

Both video cards available for the new iMacs support H.264 GPU decoding (UVD for ATI and PureVideo for nVidia) - does the quicktime player take advantage of them?

The word on the street is that the nVidia and ATI drivers supplied by Apple do not support Purevideo and UVD respectively. Unfortunately this means that any software that runs on Mac OS X can't support it either.

Not sure where you are located, but what ever apps you see on the main menu. Apart from that you can use airplay (if the developer has enabled) or mirroring via a compatible IOS device/computer.

Yes - in Safari Preferences>Security tab, make sure there is a tick against 'Enable JavaScript'. There's probably a similar preferences setting if you run another browser.

Admittedly, RIM, the makers of Blackberries needs all the support it can get at the moment. However, I haven't heard that Apple is contributing. Though, I'm sure Apple could afford to buy the company if it wanted to.

Does apple support mpeg 4 player? If so where can I find it?

This is not an issue with Firefox, your message actually confirms this by the error you listed. "There was an error on the server" Firefox is only an internet browser basically, the connection to the internet & such local configuration is outside external from Firefox, the server is on the host side of the connection. It sounds like you have a bad connection between the server & your computer which Firefox has nothing to do with, rather it is your local network. I would actually check out Windows 7 VPN support, you need to setup a virtual private network VPN which is basically a secure connection stable enough to support the bandwidth required to facilitate the meeting.
This is why you are also having the problem with Internet Explorer as you need to correctly configure a VPN connection via windows if your connection supports it.

    Hi,
You will notice that this Article is dated 20th November 2008
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1643
Despite it pointing out Netgear Routers only, you will see from this Thread that the Issue was being discussed here much earlier than that
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=1020028&#1020028 Dated 24th Aug 2005
    An Aside
I have been running my website since 2004 and iChat 2
This section originally dated 2005 as well also has the info
    http://www.ralphjohns.co.uk/page4.html#_mactodo (Item 4)
It is not so much about what Apple do right away or answer in the Discussions it is about what they do to get the info to a wide an audience as possible.
The upshot is that they do Monitor the Discussion in various forms.
Some info finds it's way in to Articles like the first link.
Other things get tested for future releases of the OS that Developers and others can try out.
The issue with that is that whoever is doing the testing concentrates on the bits they want to work and know how it works before any changes.
There are of course other examples dotted about.

  • What brand of RAMs does Apple support or approve?

I understand that by default Apple supplies Hynix or Samsung RAMs with the new iMAC Intel Duo Cores (and older iMACs).
My question is does anyone know if Apple supports or approves of the following brands:
    1. Crucial
    2. Corsair
    3. OWC
    4. ATP
    5. Jetram
    iMac Intel 17" Mac OS X (10.4.6) 1.83GHz

Yeah, I am thinking of upgrading my iMAC 17" Intel. I just bought it online and am already thinking of adding another 1GB. Am afraid that the additional 1GB may have issues with the original.
I have a PowerBook 15" G4. Upgraded the memory with a Samsung 1GB that I bought from a local authorized dealer. Though every thing seems to work I can't install Intego VirusBarrier 10.4 or 10.5. Or rather I can install it but can't run it! I suspect it could be the memory.
I have surfed around and it seems the general consensus is that Crucial Memory is pretty reliable and are manufactured by Micron (an Apple authorized supplier?).
    Thanks for the feedbacks!

I read somewhere that apple does not support calendar or contact sync between iphone running ios7 or above with outlook 2013. jsut looking for some confirmation so i know whethere to stick with 2010 or not.

    Hello Murphy410,
Thank you for the question.  You can use iCloud Calendars with Outlook 2007 or later (Outlook 2010 Personal Edition is not supported) according to the following article:
    iCloud: System requirements
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4759
You can enable the iCloud Calendar in the iCloud Control Panel as outlined in this article:
    iCloud: Change iCloud feature settings
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2613
If you are experiencing issues with the iCloud Calendar syncing properly, I recommend following the steps in the section titled "Troubleshooting on Microsoft Windows (Microsoft Outlook)" in the following article:

  • DOES APPLE SUPPORT FLASH OR IS THERE A WORKAROUND?

Hi, we are new to the Apple products having just purchased in the last month an IPHONE4 and an IPAD2 3G.
We had occasion today to post up a message on a funeral home's website and found we were unable to access to do this because Apple does not support FLASH.
Is there an app in the works or presently out there that will enable the Apple products to do this?
(We've updated both devices to the latest applicatioin updates and ICLOUD)
    Appreciate your response on this.
    Thanks in advance!
    Mary

We have a lifetime of experience in the work world in the Windows environment and since retirement decided to migrate to the "best in class" Apple products.  We DO like the quickness and intuitiveness of Apple's approach to doing things but frankly think we should be able, using these new Apple devices, to access legitimate websites.
Respectfuly, you are talking about Windows computers environment and comparing them to a phone and a tablet.
Not a fair comparison at all.
There are phones and tablets that run Flash, but speaking of hot button topic, read some of those stories.
I do want to give a +1 vote to melvins suggestion. iSwifter, though not polished to an Apple standard, does work very well on Flash content web sites. I don't play Flash games, but I rarely have any problem with it when visiting Flash intensive sites.

  • Why does Apple support print those "Hello" booklets that came with my new iMac in super small fonts?

Yesterday I purchased the latest available 27inch iMac from my local Apple only dealer.     ( It sure beats my very first Mac which was an LC520. )
The included in the box printed quick start guide named "Hello" was printed using a font size very close to zero.
Who are these people at Apple support that can read such small fonts with using 20X powered magnifying lenses
    Are they somewhat...
What a waste of mony Apple!

I think it's a point worth making.  It is virtually unreadable.
On reflection, I'm wondering if there is an obligation in some countries to provide such information with a device.   This could be Apple's way of complying while spending the absolute minimum.

  • What browsers and what versions of those browsers does Apple support on the iPad?

I need to be sure I can get help if I need it. Other big companies (who shall remain unnamed at this time) have a policy of what they test with, and how many versions back they support. Is there anything like this for Apple? We're getting our team iPads and I want to make sure everyone can get help if they need it as I won't have control over what the download, etc.

The only browser that Apple supports for OS X and iOS is Safari. On a new purchase, you'll get free support from Apple for 90 days.
You get support from us iPad users 24/7. Unless an iPad is jailbroken (you don't want to do this), the only place where you can download apps is Apple's app store. Apple has verified that the apps don't have a virus or malware, so you don't need any antivirus app on the iPad.
One thing that iOS doesn't have on the iPad is Flash for viewing some types of videos,
Adobe has not made a version of Flash for the iPad.
    Kappy explains why. https://discussions.apple.com/message/19446567#19446567https://discussions.apple.com/message/19446567#19446567
