I live in India.Some days ago my younger brother purchased an i phone 4 (MC603B/A- 16GB Black) from one of his friend who lives in UK. His cellphone operatorwas Tmobile.Initially he said this phone is factory unlocked, later my brothercame to know through other friend that its not factory unlocked. Before sellercoming to India he unlocked this phone through Tmobile (by providing a fee totmobile and giving restore in itunes according to tmobile suggestion). Socurrently he doesnot face any problem using any local sim. Later on he came toknow that after returing to UK his friend claim to insurance that he losthis iphone in India and he already got a new one from insurance. My brother's friend cheated with him. Now my question is that, does apple again lock his phone if he update his current ios?

Your brother's friend has committed insurance fraud, and technically, the insurance company owns this phone. As to the phone being re-locked to the carrier it was originally locked to, that won't happen, but you need to address the fact that this phone is now "stolen property".

If My Headphones broke does apple pay for this for me?

Keys getting dirty look--paint wearing off! What does Apple do for this?

This is dismaying. I received a brand new MacBook Pro (early 2008 model) from Apple only a few months ago and the silver paint on several keys is already wearing off! They're getting that dirty look. See http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=451259
I went through something similar with an old iBook G4... On those, the keys' lettering wore off. Apple service was responsive for sure, although it was pretty silly that they kept sending me replacement keyboards Instead of individual keys or decals. After pushing by me, they even sprung for one of those iSkin plasticky keyboard covers (which turned out it interferes with typing and some say can cause a heat problem). Eventually, they sent me a 4th keyboard that didn't wear out at all. So, it seems that they fixed that issue.
Has Apple solved this paint wearing problem for the MBP's? Do I just go the Apple Care route--again-- and do they send out an entire keyboard? What have other people experience and done?
In this case, obviously, they can't send decals as this keyboard is the backlit (underlit) kind!

This is a known issue with the Early 2008 MBP (as well as earlier models). It has nothing to do with dirty hands, or lotions or hands or anything else. Just from plain old use, it wears down the paint on the keys.
The MBP keyboard keys are no longer removable one by one on that model and onward -- you have to bring your MBP into an Apple Store (or call Apple Care) - they will take it in, change it out for a new keyboard (its under warranty for one year, and if you have Apple Care for two additional years). If you are beyond the one year warranty and did not purchase Apple Care, then you will have to pay to have it replaced (probably a couple hundred dollars plus shipping).
The turnaround for something like that is usually about a week if you have to send it in, and a day if you go to the Apple Store. The Apple Store, after deeming it a repair issue, will order the keyboard. Then they will call you to bring in your MBP and leave it for the time it is required for them to fix it -- usually an afternoon, or overnight.
But this is a well-documented and much discussed issue over the years -- it occured to my old MBP as well. Luckily, I have three apple stores all within a half hour drive of me, so I don't worry about those sorts of things. But it's annoying if you have to send it it.

Iphone 4, back side shattered... does apple care cover this?

So I am wondering if apple care protection would cover the back side of my Iphone 4 being shattered. The screen and front side are fine so the phone is not hindered at all, but I would still like to get the back side of it fixed as I have this phone on contract for another year and a half. Please let me know!!!

If you previously bought AppleCare+ for it, accidental damage is covered. Regular AppleCare doesn't cover accidents.

Does Apple Works do this?

I'm looking for a simple application that will alphabetize a list of things as I enter them into said list. I would also like a search funtion so that I can search this list. I play a couple online games and am a collector and seller of things. I would like to be able to add recently acquired items into a program that will alphabetize and sort these items by name and price, then be able to check my list by alpha to see what I have and what they sell for.
Does Appleworks do this or is there an application that will do something like this.

In AppleWorks, create a new database and define at least three fields, named according to the content they will contain. To add a new entry, press the Command and R keys simultaneously, and enter your data into the fields; the records will not be alphabetized automatically, but you can sort them by name. To sort the records by name, choose Sort Records from the Organize menu, click on the Name field, and click Move. Click OK. To do a search, choose Find from the layout menu and enter the search criteria in the available fields; a blank criterion will match any field.

Hey there... I've had my macbook for about a month now. I love it except for ONE thing. In the area where my palms rest on the Macbook the white is turning slightly brown. Yes if you call Apple or take your MacBook to an Apple store then they will replace your cover with a new cover which is a different kind of plastic.
I had discoloration about 3 months ago and I called Apple and they sent me a box to send my MacBook to them and then they replaced the cover and had my MacBook back to me in 2 days looking good as new!!
If you don't want to wait that long and need your MacBook daily then you can take it in to an Apple store and they should be able to replace your cover the same day or if not the same day then the next day. It all just depends on how busy they are and if it is not major Apple store because some Apple stores that aren't that big can't do in store repairs.

Does Apple Ever Fix Anything Based On A Forum Post?

While I'm a great fan of forums, and sharing the knowledge and experience of the community, I've known some companies that monitor forums and actually help fix problems posted. Does Apple ever do this? Or are they just too busy makin money...

My observation is, I see a few technical employees post right after a new release when dozens of folks post about having the same problem.
Like most companies, they prioritize bug fixes so the ones affecting the most customers get fixed first.
But for the most parts, discussion moderators only watch the forums to make sure the TOS are followed.

Why does Apple not support GiffGaff?

GiffGaff allow you to tether and use your standard data allowance, but Apple don't even recognize GiffGaff as a network - so you can't enable any kind of tethering. The only workaround appears to be to jailbreak your phone. Why does Apple not support this network?

My iTunes appleID is an old defunct e-mail address - it does not have to be functional.
Do what Winston says to ensure you keep getting correspondence related to that ID.

since upgrading to OS lion, my mac book pro (2010 August) keeps freezing (non responsive, requires restart) when i turn on my mac and the system is trying to open apple mail. while apple mail is attempting to collect new mail, the macbook pro freezes. this happens every 2nd time i try to start up my computer. this only started happening after i upgraded to OS lion. please let me know what I need to do to fix this. being forced to restart every 2nd time i turn on my macbook pro has been very frustrating. not sure if apple mail is also the cause of my macbook pro for being very slow during start-up (on the occasion the computer doesn't freeze).

I am having similar 'freezing' problems with many programs (Mail, Safari, iTunes, etc.). I have done a clean install of Lion instead of an upgrade when it came out. Perhaps something went wrong with my install? I'm thinking about wiping and reinstalling.
