Does B320 support Linux?

I just had a bad experience trying to install linux on a desktop (different brand, not Lenovo), so I'm considering changing this pc for the Lenovo B320, but at the store they won't let me try a live CD before buying.
Has anyone here tried linux on this model? or do you know if it supports linux at least in theory?  What I want is to install Linux Mint and have a dual boot with Windows.
Thanks in advance.

hey brunn,
welcome to the forums,
i cannot say for certain if it will work or not as Linux has many distros and specific needs.
my suggestion is this, check with Linux Mint and if i'm not mistaken... they should have a link/page listing all supported hardware.
use that page and crosscheck with the hardware of the B320 for compatibility.

    Hi Mohamed
    From the SAP Portal:-
The application supports the Microsoft SQL Server database. Additional system requirements are Microsoft Windows Server (2003 R2, 2003 SP1), Microsoft Windows Business Server (2003 R2, 2003 SP1) and Microsoft Windows XP SP2 (standalone installations only) as well as Microsoft Windows XP SP2 Professional (workstation platforms). The application also supports Microsoft Office (2003 SP1, 2007 und XP SP2). Further Windows operating systems will be supported in the future. The open architecture of SAP Business One will integrate with SAP Business Suite, as well as other independent software vendors, allowing companies to realize the extensive benefits of SAP from the largest division to the smallest subsidiary.
So it seems that Linux is not an option at present

  • BEA AquaLogic User Interaction product does not support LINUX

    Hi all,
I realised that ALUI does not support installation for LINUX.(pls see download link at http://commerce.bea.com/showproduct.jsp?family=ALI&major=6.1&minor=0).Does anyone know the plans about this topic? What is BEA's roadmap?

ALUI does currently support Linux (both Red Hat & SuSE) with the the 6.0 SP1 version. The latest version (i.e. 6.1) will support Linux when the first Service Pack for 6.1 is released - tentatively scheduled for the first half of next year. ALUI 6.1 currently supports Windows, Solaris & AIX.
ALUI 6.1 is aligned with how BEA licenses other products where the product is essentially available to download and install for an evaluation period for free. Previous versions of ALUI (including 6.0 SP1) are only available for download for paying customers or partners. Correspondingly, only paying customers or partners can log into the ALUI support site.
The UI Customization Installer for 6.1 (for Windows) is currently available for download and eval from http://commerce.bea.com/showproduct.jsp?family=ALI&major=6.1&minor=0

  • JDev download does not support Linux

It is quite "interesting" that oracle.com annouces that Oracle is marked leader for Linux development, and then you get an error page when you try to download JDeveloper with either Mozilla or Opera from a Linux PC.
Perhaps you should take a meeting with the marketing deparment. They must have missed a point or two
    Flemming

I have made a post in the Members Feed Back Forum, Not, that I do not like to use Mozilla, I just enjoin the freedom of having more browser to choose between, since one-size does not fit all.
Now that I have ported my development to Linux I have a few more Linux related questions:
    1). Tools => Preferences => Environment
I can only choose between CDE, Motif and Oracle, which in my opion all look rather old fashion. Is this changing when the IDE runs on jdk1.4.2 in upcoming releases?
    2) The default font in the Oracle look-and-feel is "slim and skinny". How do I configure the IDE font with one of ny system font sets?
    3) Surprise. I cannot use Code Coach and even worse the profiler under Linux. When will that be possible? Seems a bit strange to me that Linux is Oracles preferred OS and
one cannot take full advantage of the tool.

    Hi,
Based on this, HP does not support, that won't stop you. You have to use other source to get all drivers for it.
    Good luck.

  • Where can I find linux drivers for my laptop? Does lenovo support provides that to download?

    Dear All,
    I purchased a Lenovo G570 (Model Name: 20079).
Where can I find linux drivers for my laptop?
Does lenovo support provides that to download?
    Sincerely,
    Srinivas Nayak

    Hello snayak
Do not worry about Linux drivers for your laptop. All needed drivers for most of the machines are on the Linux kernel. Most hardware are recognized by latest kernel. So all you have to do is install your distro and enjoy Linux.
The best way to check if all hardware are recognized is booting up a distro in live mode and test the hardware.
You can make a test with Linux Mint, and install their new and amazing DE called Cinnamon. I'm sure you will enjoy it.

If the question is actually does Linux support Java, the answer is yes.
    http://www.blackdown.org/java-linux.html
J2EE on the other hand is 'sort of', you will need to download the J2EE DK from sun.

To see which ODBC function DG4ODBC is looking for and unixODBC isn't supporting it would be best to get an ODBC trace file. But as your unixODBC driver (unixODBC-2.2.11-10.el5) is outdated and these old drivers had a lot of issues when being used on 64bit operating systems (for example wrong sizeofint etc). So best would be to update the unixODBC Driver manager to release 2.3.x. More details can be found on the web site: www.unicodbc.org

  • Online Backup of supported Linux VM on Hyper-V 2012 R2 / SC DPM 2012 R2

    Hi,
I'm trying to set up a lab environment:
    Win 2012 R2 with Hyper-V
    running 2 Linux Machines:
Linux2 - CentOS 6.4 with manually installed Linux Integration services 3.4
Linux3 - CentOS 6.4 without LIS (should be already included in CentOS)
Another machine running Win 2012 R2 Server with SC DPM 2012 R2
but both VMs show as "Offline" when trying to back them up via DPM. Tried local Windows Server Backup with the same result.
I am able to backup the VMs "offline" (pausing the VM, taking snapshot, resume VM) but according to MS, SC DPM 2012 R2 should be able to do Online backups for supported Linux VMs (http://blogs.technet.com/b/virtualization/archive/2013/07/24/enabling-linux-support-on-windows-server-2012-r2-hyper-v.aspx)
The only things in the EventLog are these:
A storage device in 'Linux3' loaded but has a different version from the server.  Server version 6.0  Client version 4.2 (Virtual machine ID 4F5CDDD8-B855-41CF-83B2-772C1B99090D). The device will work, but this is an unsupported configuration.
This means that technical support will not be provided until this problem is resolved. To fix this problem, upgrade the integration services. To upgrade, connect to the virtual machine and select Insert Integration Services Setup Disk from the Action menu.
    Any Ideas ?
    Thanks

    Hi,
That list would need to come from the Windows hyper-v group, they are responsible with adding the feature to the integration components for various Linux OSes.  DPM just backs up whatever the hyper-V writer presents to us, if the guest supports
online, we back it up online, if not hyper-V saves the guest before the VSS snapshot is taken and DPM takes the backup from the saved state.
NEW NOTE ADDED 1-29-14: Windows group just released “Linux Integration Services Version 3.5 for Hyper-V”. The
document mentions that some versions of Red Hat and CentOS are now
    supported to do online backup.
    Live virtual machine backup support
    ======================
    RHEL/CentOS 6.0-6.3
    RHEL/CentOS 5.7-5.8
    RHEL/CentOS 5.5-5.6
ADDTL NOTES: If there are open file handles during a live virtual machine backup operation, the backed-up virtual hard disks (VHDs) might have to undergo a file system consistency check (fsck) when restored.
Live backup operations can fail silently if the virtual machine has an attached iSCSI device or a physical disk that is directly attached to a virtual machine (“pass-through disk”).

  • Error : Your CPU does not support long mode. Use a 32bit distribution

    Hi
I was trying to Install Oracle Enterprise Linux on VM ware version 6.
My hardware is Intel 32 bit.
However while booting from the DVD im getting an error as "Your CPU does not support long mode. Use a 32bit distribution."
    Please Advise
    Thanks

I had learned that the free DVD sets that Oracle ships are always for 64-bit systems. Owners of 32-bit systems will have to either download from http://edelivery.oracle.com or copy a distribution DVD from a friend. The 32-bit media can also be ordered from the http://oraclestore.oracle.com site for about $20USD.
Sorry for any confusion this may have caused.

I downloaded 1080p content, not sure why this would not work with the hardware I have.

  • Tomcat7. This parser does not support specification null version null

    Hi guys,

Application is developed on jdk1.6 and on a server is installed jdk1.4-compact and jdk1.7 but I entered jdk1.7 path to JAVA_HOME and JRE_HOME in tomcat/bin/setclasspath.sh file. Any ideas why I am getting this exception?

is null statement is post processed. This means in case of a select ALL records from the remote database are fetched into the Oracle database and the is null statement is then processed locally in the Oracle db.
So thze select will work as it is handled internally in the Oracle database. This also means as But "is null" isn't sent to the foreign MySQL db the update clause will fail with ORA-02070: database PLAZAHOST does not support IS NULL in this context
You need to recode the statement or use passthrough statements.

  • Error -11040 Driver does not support this function- Informix SE db

    Hello,
Weu2019re getting an error -11040 "Driver does not support this function" when trying to connect to an ODBC data source to an InformixSE database. This is with Crystal 2010 and 2008 on a Windows XP sp2 box. Weu2019re trying to use the ODBC(RDO) choice for a new connection.
The Informix ODBC driver has been loaded. We tried 3 versions, the 2.40 and 3.70(latest) ones from IBM, and one that I believe came with Crystal (CR xxxx). I tried turning on the ODBC trace file, but it didnu2019t write anything to the log. We are supplying the same log in credentials as with Excel.
The Informix database we use is Informix SE (Standard Engine) v5.10 on separate machine running Unix (Aix) with the Informix-Net daemon running to handle odbc connectivity. We are able to connect from Excel to the Informix database.
I donu2019t know what ODBC function Crystal may be expecting from the driver that it doesnu2019t seem to support and how to tell Crystal to not need it.
    Thanks,
    Mike

    Hi Mike,
According to the Platforms for DB support we only support these Informix data sources:
IDS (Informix Dynamic Server)     11.50       32 bit       64 bit        Linux               AIX                   Solaris
IDS          IDS Client 11.5                                     Direct     Direct     Not Supported     Not Supported     Not Supported
ODBC      IBM Informix ODBC SDK 3.50             Direct     Direct     Direct             Direct             Direct
ODBC      DataDirect ODBC 6.0 SP2 (10)      Direct     Direct     Direct             Direct             Direct
You may want to try the Data Direct 6.x drivers as a test.
CR in the .NET IDE is running under 32 bit mode so make sure you are using the 32 bit Client.

  • Does JRockit support the volatile keyword?

Does JRockit support the volatile keyword? If yes, since what version of JRockit is it supported? Will it also be supported on JRockit for Linux.

    the Linux builds of JRockit.
However, the actual behaviour of "volatile" hasn't been that well
defined until Java 5.0, so our interpretation of what volatile should
mean may or may not have been consistent with SUN's interpretation of
    what volatile should mean.
Have you been having problems with using volatile? What are you using
it for in that case? Since volatile might not do what you think it
does, using locking could be better...

  • Does arch support " Intel Core i7-920 processor(8MB L3 Cache, 2."

Hi, i'm new to linux as well as Arch .  But would like to try Arch , since lot of linux users says Arch is good. I got my new home pc with  " Intel® Core™ i7-920 processor(8MB L3 Cache, 2.66GHz) " . Does Arch supports this processor to it's full potential. Did a search in the forums . I could not find the answer. Thanks in advance.

As an x86 compatible CPU, why would it not be supported? Newer stuff is backwards compatible; you should worry about older stuff not being supported anymore, due to the new instructions introduced in more recent products.
Also, we've had this kind of questions before: http://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=88585
