Does Cisco Media Services Interface mark RTP and Signaling packets regardless of Cisco Prime Collaboration/MediaNet Deployment?

Hi there,
I'm deploying Cisco UC Integration Lync 9.2(5). There's a QoS portion which states that you can install Cisco Media Services Interface on the user's PC and is to be used with Cisco Prime Collaboration or MediaNet:
http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/cucilync/9/CUCI_BK_C0545A41_00_cisco-uc-integration-for-microsoft/CUCI_BK_C0545A41_00_cisco-uc-integration-for-microsoft_chapter_010.html#CUCI_CN_IDBE72E9_00
If we don't have Cisco Prime Collaboration or MediaNet, does Cisco Media Services Interface mark RTP and Siganling packets on the outbound regardless? Or do I have to manually set the DSCP values for the PC?
Thanks,
John

When you were placing the internal test calls, where was your phone located?   The RTP streams are usually only set up between the two endpoints (assuming no transcoder or MTP is used).
Have you have already checked calls between IP phones at your central site (where Unity is located) and IP Phones at site A?   Are these working fine?   If not, then it's likely you do have a QoS issue over the WAN to Site A.
Have you confirmed whether or not calls from the PSTN gateway at site A experience any voice QoS issues when transferred to an IP Phone at the central site?
Is the same codec is being used for the MGCP gateway as for IP Phones at that site (check the Region settings for the Device Pool it's in)?
If these things have all been checked, then you may want to consider collecting a simultaneous sniffer trace from each end of a single call, and comparing what's seen at the two endpoints.
Kind regards,
Craig

  • Does Azure Media services support storing images?

    Hi,
We are planning to store the media files in azure cloud, initially we planned to use the Azure blob storage and after deeply investigating we found the Azure media services has some outstanding capabilities  like streaming offline viewing etc. compared
    to azure blob storage.
So here my question, does this supports storing the images as well? Please confirm this ASAP.
I read the some article about media services, there it has been given like below, but Just i want to confirmation about this.
Supported file types in Azure Media Services
Various video, audio, and image file types can be uploaded to a Media Services account, with there being no restriction on the types or formats of files that you can upload using the Media Services SDK. However, the Azure Management portal restricts uploads
to the formats that are supported by the Azure Media Encoder. These import formats include MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, and Windows Media Video encoded video, MP3, WAVE, and Windows Media Audio encoded audio, and BMP, JPEG, and PNG encoded images. The Azure Media
Encoder can export data as Windows Media Video, Windows Media Audio, MP4, and Smooth Streaming File Format.
For more information about the supported file formats see "Supported input formats" and "Introduction to encoding."
    Thanks,
    Kiran

    Hi John,
    One more Question here.
As of now we are planning to store and retrieve only the images and audio files with media services, so can I avoid encoding and packaging and use it?Will it work?
Can I access the  images and audio files without encoding and packaging?
In future, we are are planning to add the videos as well.
I think encoding and packaging will come into picture when streaming the videos.
    Thanks,
    Kiran

  • Ask the Expert: Integrating Cisco Identity Service Engine (ISE) 1.2 for BYOD

With Eric Yu and Todd Pula
Welcome to the Cisco Support Community Ask the Expert conversation. This is an opportunity to learn and ask questions  about integrating Cisco ISE 1.2 for BYOD with experts Eric Yu and Todd Pula.
Cisco Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) is an end-to-end architecture that orchestrates the integration of Cisco's mobile and security architectures to various third-party components. The session takes a deep dive into the available tools and methodologies for troubleshooting the Cisco BYOD solution to identify root causes for problems that stem from mobile device manager integration, Microsoft Active Directory and certificate authority services, and Cisco Enterprise Mobility integration to the Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE).
Todd and Eric recently delivered a technical workshop that helps network designers and network engineers understand integration of the various Cisco BYOD components by taking a deep dive to analyze best practice configurations and time-saving troubleshooting methodologies. The content consisted of common troubleshooting scenarios in which TAC engineers help customers address operational challenges as seen in real Cisco BYOD deployments.
Eric Yu is a technical leader at Cisco responsible for supporting our leading-edge borderless network solutions. He has 10 years of experience in the telecommunications industry designing data and voice networks. Previous to his current role, he worked as a network consulting engineer for Cisco Advance Services, responsible for designing and implementing Cisco Unified Communications for Fortune 500 enterprises. Hi Antonio,
Many great questions to start this series.  For the situation that you are observing with your FlexConnect configuration, is the problem 100% reproducible or is it intermittent?  Does the problem happen for one WLAN but not another?  As it stands today, the CoA-Ack needs to be initiated by the management interface.  This limitation is documented in bug CSCuj42870.  I have provided a link for your reference below.  If the problem happens 100% of the time, the two configuration areas that I would check first include:
On the WLC, navigate to Security > RADIUS > Authentication.  Click on the server index number for the associated ISE node.  On the edit screen, verify that the Support for RFC 3576 option is enabled.
On the WLC, navigate to the WLANs tab and click on the WLAN ID for the WLAN in question.  On the edit screen, navigate to Security > AAA and make sure the Radius Server Overwrite interface is unchecked.  When this option is checked, the WLC will attemp to send client authentication requests and the CoA-Ack/Nak via the dynamic interface assigned to the WLAN vs. the management interface.  Because of the below referenced bug, all RADIUS packets except the CoA-Ack/Nak will actually be transmitted via the dynamic interface.  As a general rule of thumb, if using the Radius NAC option on a WLAN, you should not configure the Radius Server Overwrite interface feature.
    Bug Info:  https://tools.cisco.com/bugsearch/bug/CSCuj42870
For your second question, you raise a very valid point which I am going to turn into a documentation enhancement request.  We don't currently have a document that lists the possible supplicant provisioning wizard errors that may be encountered.  Please feel free to post specific errors that you have questions about in this chat and we will try to get you answers.  For most Android devices, the wizard log file can be found at /sdcards/downloads/spw.log.
As for product roadmap questions, we won't be able to discuss this here due to NDA.  Both are popular asks from the field so it will be interesting to see what the product marketing team comes up with for the next iterration of ISE.

  • Server 2012 SMB 3.0 file cluster issues with Streaming media services 2008 R2

So I have a file server setup with the always available feature turned off on this brand new cluster. Everything seems to function normally and I can hit files from the shares no problem.
My issue I built a brand new 2008 R2 machine and created an on-demand publishing point to point to my 2012 file share cluster. I created a windows account for my windows media service to run as and applied read only to my video share. Media services see
the video files on the server in the GUI so I know its got connectivity, but when I go to test locally or externally it will not play the stream at all. It complains of access even know I know that is not the issue. I have verified the setup and the ACL
stuff is turned off on both the root and the publishing point. I can login to the Media server as my service account and play files from the share no problem. IIS media services can stream the files with no problem and yeah everything seems more like something
possibly with SMB 3.0 and something in media services.
I have a country rule where my data is not allowed in other countries so I have multiple video services on a domain with tunnels and what not my US Streaming services is working great but has a server 2008 R2 file cluster server. If I take that one to my
out of the country publishing point to test it streams great as they use the same services account. If I take my out of the country file share to the US I get the same result just will not work. I have poke prodded and banged my head and since I get this result
I have concluded it must be something with the new security of SMB 3.0.
Does anyone have this working or tested? Also I am using the exact same video file to test all of this. Or is there secret I missed to either make smb 3.0 even more compatible or make streaming services play nice.
Anything helps please let me know.
    Thanks,
    Adam

I'd recommend calling in for support on this one.  Things aren't adding up.  Probably the most useful thing to do would be to do a network trace of the WMS server connecting to the remote server over SMB.

Does Azure Media Services support file format such as rmvb or 3gp ,and so on.I want to know what file format I can play with Azure Media Services exactly,Thanks.

The encoding for Windows Azure Media Services is currently based on Expression Encoder.  Expression Encoder's supported list is at

  • Cisco media subsystem - im totally confused. Please shed light :)

I have been googling on Cisco Media subsystem. Everywhere I see the below statement.
    Cisco Media
Configures Cisco Media Termination (CMT) dialog control groups,                     which can be used to handle simple Dual Tone Multifrequency (DTMF)-based dialog                     interactions with customers
Im confused. What exactly is the role of this subsystem.
    - In call control group configuration, I see that there is an option to enable it or not. So Im assuming that it is not mandatory to configure it.
    a) So in my script If I have a menu step, obv we use DTMF to make the seletion in menu step. So does CMT dialogue channels come into play in that part? What exactly is the role of this subsystem.
    b) When i use another applications like MRTS or TTS, does this media subsystem has any role?
    c) What are the scenarios in which this subsystem kick in. What is the role. When all can i disable the Media Termination support in CC group.
Please give me a detailed description. Cisco documents are just beating around the bush. Your help will be highly appreciated.

Have you read the UCCX Admin Guide section on this topic?  It does a pretty decent job of explaining it.
Your assumption here is incorrect.  The radio button simply indicates whether or not you want a new CMG to be created to match up with (I.e., have the same number of channels as there are ports) this CCG.  A "yes" means it will create it, and a "no" means it will not.  Regardless of what you select here, the CMG is actually assigned to the Triggers, and will always default to the Default CMG.  It's always a good practice to select no here, and then define your own CMG with a 10% overhead.  The reason why is explained in the Admin Guide link provided above.
Nirmal Issac wrote:a) So in my script If I have a menu step, obv we use DTMF to make the seletion in menu step. So does CMT dialogue channels come into play in that part? What exactly is the role of this subsystem.
Correct.  It's role is explained in the Admin Guide link above.
Nirmal Issac wrote:b) When i use another applications like MRTS or TTS, does this media subsystem has any role?
Yes.  You would create a new CMG for thos applications, and you do not want to assign them to every trigger.  Only those who need it.  The reason is, an ASR license is consumed for the duration of the call using that CMG.  TTS on the other hand releases the license as soon as the Prompt has finished playing.
Nirmal Issac wrote:c) What are the scenarios in which this subsystem kick in. What is the role. When all can i disable the Media Termination support in CC group.
It kicks in for every call to your JTAPI triggers.  HTTP triggers on the other hand do not need CMG's.  You cannot disable the support of CMG in the CCG.  This goes back to your misunderstanding of the Yes/No radio button in the CCG configuration.  Also, you cannot have a trigger with 0 CMG's configured.  The AppAdmin page will throw an error telling you that you need atleast one.  Therefore, you cannot use UCCX inbound JTAPI triggers without a CMG.  They are a requirement.
Nirmal Issac wrote:Please give me a detailed description. Cisco documents are just beating around the bush. Your help will be highly appreciated.
This is laid out quite nicely in the Admin Guide link provided above.
In summary: CMG's are for media termination support (E.g., DTMF reception [I.e., Get Digit String Step] and transmission [I.e., Send Digits Step]) for your JTAPI triggers.  You should always manually create a corresponding CMG for your CCG's, and with 10% more channels than your CCG has in ports.  E.g., CCG has 100 ports, your CMG should have 110 channels.  Configuring which CMG your Trigger uses is an extra step: click Show More, remove the Default, Add the new, click save.

If an ABAP proxy is to be developed then all the messages included should be of one type i.e. either the included messages should be Message Type, External Message, IDOC or RFC Message. This behavior can be observed when a Service Interface is created and then subjected for a check

  • Mixing multiple audio files using Windows Azure Media Services

    Hi,
I'm trying to "mix" multiple audio files on the server, e.g. I have 4 different .wav files for each instrument in my song: vocals, guitar, drums, bass.  I want to create a new stereo "mix" from these, but I want to change the relative
volume of one of the tracks, say vocals, or mute it altogether.  I can use libraries such as NAudio to achieve this, but I'm wondering if Windows Media Services can do this, and if so, can it do it dynamically, i.e. create a live stereo stream and allow
me to add/drop individual tracks on-the-fly.  I've been looking through documentation on Azure Media Services and Expression Encoder, but haven't found the answer.
    Thanks,
    Alan

    Hi Georgios,
There is support for using audio overlays in our service - see http://azure.microsoft.com/blog/2014/08/21/advanced-encoding-features-in-azure-media-encoder/ for examples. It may be possible to perform pairwise overlays to implement your scenario.
However, it's currently not possible for us to integrate customer-built processor code into our service.

  • NAC-L2-802.1x (EAP-FAST) and Cisco Secure Services Client 5.0 in wired net

    Hi!
(Sorry, if this is a wrong forum.)
Does anybody have any success with Cisco SSC and EAP-FAST in the wired network?
I'm going to use NAC, so I'm trying to set up EAP-FAST. I see the pop-up window on the client to enter user credentials and I see a lot of "debug radius" messages on my 3750 12.2(44)SE switch:
    Access-Requests with User-Name="anonymous"
Access-Challenges (I see certificate is sent from ACS)
    Access-Reject
CS ACS Failed Attempts Report shows "ACS user unknown" failure for "anonymous".
So far as I understood, EAP-FAST is a tunneled method and it uses "anonymous" to protect user's identity during phase 0 / phase 1 transactions. The actual username is sent in phase 2 transaction.
The following is excerpt from the CS ACS documentation:
"EAP-FAST can protect the username in all EAP-FAST transactions. ACS does not perform user authentication based on a username that is presented in phase one; however, whether the username is protected during phase one depends on the end-user client. If the end-user client does not send the real username in phase one, the username is protected. The Cisco Aironet EAP-FAST client protects the username in phase one by sending FAST_MAC address in place of the username. After phase one of EAP-FAST, all data is encrypted, including username information that is usually sent in clear text."
SSC 5.0 is indeed set up with "Unprotected Identity Pattern"=anonymous and "Protected Identity Pattern"=[username] using sscManagementUtility.exe
So, the question is: Why is ACS 4.1 trying to authenticate username "anonymous" if it knows that the user is fake? Does anybody have working configuaration for EAP-FAST in a wired network?
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

Correct, ACS database wasn't selected on the NAP Authentication page. It works now, but I constantly get the following message in the Windows event log: "The Cisco Secure Services Client service hung on starting". This is Windows 2000 Advanced Server system with SP4. SSC was set up with no domain authentication, no machine authentication, single sign-on. After some time the SSC service starts, but at that time my PC is already put into the guest VLAN by the switch (the tx-period is 10 seconds):

Is there a Cisco lab available for ASR 9000
we have "XR4U" stations coming available soon when XR 511 comes alive. The plan is for a downloadable play image like that. In the interim we have 2 demo systems available, and they can be booked via your account manager representative.
How will MOD160 perform with multiple 9000NVS?
very well. the mod 160 has 4 NPU's, 2 per bay. So if you have a 4x10 MPA to serve a satellite, you effectively have a single NPU per 20 1Gigs from the satellite. The pps performance will be stellar. However it might be price technically more ideal to connect satellite with a 36x10. Since the MOD-x has native MPA's with 1G also.
         2. Is there a shortcut for a Bundle-EthernetX interface, such as port-channel interface (poX), in Cisco IOS® ?.

         3. What  is the revolutions per minute (RPM) on these hard disk drives (HDDs)  compared to the solid state drives (SDDs)? Will the spinning drives be  slow?
depends on the type we had avaialble at time of production, you will see different sizes and disks on the RSP2. the rpm of the HD is not so much an issue as much as the buffered writing we used to do in XR. This is fixed up with XR43 where the disk writing performance is much better. the HD/SDD is used for logging storage only (and maybe your pictures) but other then that we're not that concerned with write perf of the HD.

  • MS Word Web Service Interface: bad format of date and currency fields

    Hi,
I am using MS Word Web Service interface to create contract documents. However, my date and currency fields show in a strange format. Date is in"YYYY-MM-DD" format, while currencies always have "." as decimal separator (probably technical values). My user settings are "DD.MM.YYYY" for dates and "n.nnn,dd" for decimal numbers.
My workaround is to create a Z structure for WS interface with char fields and then do conversion through CRM_WST_RT_BADI->OUTBOUND_PROCESSING method. This works, but requires a lot of custom development.
Is there a way to "tell" the interface to use correct formats in MS Word without doing it all manually through custom fields?
    Thanks!

I create the service interface for the data service enabling these operations: Create, Update, Delete, Merge, GetByKey and Find. However, there are two additional operations that Muench does not mention: Process and ProcessChangeSummary. These are the operations that I am asking about and have not been successful finding any documentation at all.
