Does CREATE_RULE_CLASS work in Standard Edition?

Documentation reads, "Rules Manager is a feature of Oracle Database 10g Release 2, Standard and Enterprise Editions."
However, when I run DBMS_RLMGR.CREATE_RULE_CLASS, I get "ORA-38493: feature not enabled: Exprerssion Filter index".
Cause: An attempt was made to create an Expression Filter index in Standard Edition.
Does this mean I need Enterprise Edition to use Rules Manager?
Thanks,
-Ken

Ken,
There was a bug that prevented the composite rule class creation in Standard Edition. The fix for this bug is available in 10.2.0.3 patch set (bug 5078837).

-Aravind.

    Tom at the Genius Bar told me that Option Delete would work. It does not.
    I had to upgrade to iTunes 11.1.(I26) because it is required with OS7 on my iPod Touch (5th Gen). I have tried shutting down iTunes, then shutting down the entire system. This is the first in many visits that the Genius Bar gave me a solution that did not work.
    This is a big awkward computer locked to my desk. I would rather not unlock it and then carry it through a shopping center to the Genius Bar if i can avoid oit.
    When I installed iTunes 11.1, I discovered that Ihad to resubscribe to virtually all of the podcasts that I had previously been subscribed to. That was a surprise.

    Hello Achates:
    I did not read the rather long post. If you wish to reinstall OS X 10.4, use your software install DVD. Backup is essential. To minimize your risk, I would use an archive and install:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=107120
    In that way, you will have a fresh copy of OS X and your current settings will be preserved.
    Incidentally, I do not agree that the printer problem is best solved by reinstalling OS X. I have had HP printers for sometime and, on one occasion, had difficulty after an upgrade. HP technical support walked me through uninstalling all traces of the HP driver and then reinstalling.

  • Flash Player does not work with Standard User, but will work when browser is "Run as Administrator"

    I don't understand why this is happening, but Flash Player will not work when a Standard User is using the browser. It will only work when the browser is run as an administrator. Any way to fix this? I've tried to uninstall, and reinstall the player, and it still wouldn't work.
    The user is on Windows 7, 64-bit. Using IE 10.
    Flash not working for Standard User - YouTube

    Any update to provide at all here guys?  Again, in my situation, it's very much rights-related as a standard user doesn't even report that the flash player exists when testing it on the Adobe Flash Version Detection website (despite it showing up in Control Panel and under Add/Remove Programs).  I've already tried giving the C:\Windows\System32\Macromed and files/subfolders appropriate permissions for the standard user and still nothing.  If I either give the user in question full local admin rights or logon as the domain admin, then the Adobe Flash Version Detection website says Flash is installed and Flash works fine.

  • Premiere Pro to Adobe Audition Dynamic link does not work. Cannot edit audio in Audition.

    Trying to edit Audio from Premiere Pro within Audition thru the Dynamic link but it does not fire up Audition to edit. Seems like a common problem/bug. But no one has posted a solution. Please Help
    -Windows 7
    -Premiere Pro CC 2014
    -Adobe Audition CC 2014

    You dont understand it was all working fine in the previous Adobe versions. matter of fact you can go on youtube and see a couple of videos that shows the work flow between Premiere Pro and audition by way of Dynamic link. If you edit a video clip in Premier Pro and want to add some music or simply edit the audio that is contained in the video there was a time within Premiere Pro you can just right click "Edit in Adobe Audition" and Audition would open with the audio clip in place. Much in the same way Premiere Pro works with After Effects thru the Dynamic Link. The Dynamic Link is the bridge between applications to work with each other. For some reason Premiere Pro and Audition Dynamic Link is not working properly.

  • Home sharing does not work as standard windows user

    I have two computers in my home network - Windows 7 Professional Desktop and a Windows 7 Professional Laptop.
    Both running latest itunes 11 software.
    Win7 Desktop has two accounts: Administrator and JB (a standard user)
    Win7 Laptop has two accounts: Administrator and JB (a standard user)
    Home Sharing is enabled on both using the same apple ID.
    I can log in on the desktop as JB/standard user and see my apple TV.
    I can log in on my laptop as JB/standard user and do NOT see my apple TV ( the airplay icon is just missing).
    Additionally - I do not see "shared" libraries on either machine.
    On the laptop, if i open itunes by "run as administartor" I am then able to see the other "shared library" and ALSO see the apple tv Airplay icon.
    Not able to figure out why I cant see home sharing or the apple tv Airplay icon unless I run as an administrator on the laptop.

    Our Apple TVs continue to lose connection ever since installing Mountain Lion on the host computer. The only thing that fixes them is to quit and relaunch iTunes, which only works unti the ATV goes to sleep. If a movie is paused for more than a few minutes and the ATV goes to sleep, pressing play again on the remote is greeted with "There are no movies on this computer" or "Turn on Home Sharing."
    If we stop a video on one ATV and attempt to resume it in another room, the error begins again. The other ATV can't connect until iTunes is relaunched.
    My guess is that it has something to do with the new [annoying] security settings. But I still haven't found a fix other than restarting iTunes everytime we want to watch something from our downloads. Fail.

    a) Does someone have any idea on how to avoid the message in red above? ( the message is normal but I just need to not want it to be displayed)
    b) archived files copied can be corrupted therefore preveting the secondary database to recover, my current solution here is to multiplex archived files to avoid a single point of failure.
    My question is to ask you guys if there is another way to prevent archived file to be corrupted before and after being copied?
    c) Technically Logminer can be used to rollback transactions in case unwanted changes were committed, as I'm working on standard edition, there is another way to rollback a change not using Logminer?
    d) I know that it's obvious using Enterprise Edition to fully configure data guard, but as cash flow is not enough, does some one give another disavantage on implementing this techninque(simalating data guard on standard edition)?
    e) What else could you guys advise, base on your experience in this technique?
    I trully need your help as I have never deal with this technique and I need much information to let know my boss in case he decided to go ahead with this.

    What I'm seeing is that you have to automate by yourself the recovery mode through a scripts at OS level every time new archived file is shipped.
    example:
    a script a OS level a script may contain: recover standby database and could be triggered after X time?
    Does some one have any tweak on how to send archive log on remote site without using data guard feature ?

  • Standby Database with Standard Edition

    Hi All,
    I'm attempting to setup a Standby database with Oracle 10g Standard Edition. I must manually copy over the archive logs to my Standby database server because i'm using Standard Edition.
    Once my primary database archive logs have been copied over to the standby location shouldn't the database automatically apply those archive logs? I have issued the "alter database recover managed standby database disconnect from session" so my understanding is that it is in recovery mode and shoudl be finding the archive logs to apply. Can anyone confirm that this configuration should work with Standard Edition and perhaps point me in the right direction, which parameters in the init file to check, to get my standby database to apply these archive logs automatically.
    Thanks,

    To quickly determine the level of synchronization for the standby database, issue the following query on the physical standby database:
    SQL> SELECT ARCHIVED_THREAD#, ARCHIVED_SEQ#, APPLIED_THREAD#, APPLIED_SEQ#
    2> FROM V$ARCHIVE_DEST_STATUS;
    ARCHIVED_THREAD# ARCHIVED_SEQ# APPLIED_THREAD# APPLIED_SEQ#

  • SDK support in Pro and Standard editions.

    Hi,
    I want to convert PDF file into DOCX programatically. I have written the code using Acrobat SDK and tried with Acrobat X Pro trial version, and it works fine. I just want to confirm whether Acrobat X Standard edition supports exporting PDF to DOCX via SDK? and whether my code will work in Standard edition.
    Also, want to know whether there are any differences between Pro and Standard editions in terms of SDK support.
    With regards,
    Pinakin Purandare

    Hi,
    Apologies for missing the code.
    Below is the code:
                AcroPDDoc pdDocument = new AcroPDDocClass();
                if (pdDocument != null)
                    try
                        // Open PDF file.
                        result = pdDocument.Open(location);
                        if (result)
                            // If PDF file is opened then get the docx file name.
                            string docxFileName = string.Concat(Path.GetFileNameWithoutExtension(location), ".docx");
                            docxFileName = Path.Combine(Path.GetFullPath(tempPath), docxFileName);
                            try
                                object jsObject = pdDocument.GetJSObject();
                                Type type = jsObject.GetType();
                                type.InvokeMember("saveAs", BindingFlags.InvokeMethod, null, jsObject,
                                    new object[] { docxFileName, "com.adobe.acrobat.docx" });
                            finally
                                pdDocument.Close();
                                pdDocument = null;
                    finally
                        pdDocument = null;
    I have gone through the feature list of Standard edition on Acrobat site and it mentions that it has feature of exporting it to Word. But since I was not able to find trial version of standard version, I am not able to test the code.
    I want to make the decision on buying the edition based on the export to DOCX feature programatically. Hence wanted to confirm.

  • OIM installation with Oracle db Standard Edition

    The 11g version of OIM, OAM works with Oracle 11g db Enterprise Edition. Will these components work with Oracle db 11g Standard Edition ?
    If this works then I am planning to use only for prototype purpose, where I can use a low end server.

    Thanks Thiago,
    Looks like the Enterprise Edition is required only for OAAM. rest of the components like OAM, OIM, OID and OVD will work with Standard Edition. Is my assumption correct ?
    Thanks!

  • Cluster on standard edition

    Hi,
    I would like to know the oracle cluster environment will be work in Standard edition or enterprise edition?.
    Rgds...

    Hi,
    Assuming you mean RAC, it depends on how many nodes you plan to use on 10G:
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14196/rac001.htm#BHCIHCCD

    The cryptographic libraries for SSL included in Oracle Database 10g are designed to meet FIPS 140-2 Level 2 certification. Oracle Advanced Security makes use of these cryptographic libraries for SSL authentication. Please verify the current status of the certification at the Cryptographic Modules Validation Program Web site address:
    That is the first statement which leads me to believe the manual hasn't been updated for 11G. Please confirm.
    I am not an Oracle employee and so can neither confirm nor deny any statement they make. I'd suggest this is something you probably should be discussing directly with someone in authority at Oracle. Perhaps start with a sev4 (information request) SR.

  • Infiniband support in Standard Edition RAC

    Hi,
    This document states that there is no InfiniBand support in Standard Edition:
    http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/license.112/e47877/editions.htm#DBLIC116
    But I'm able to start Standard Edition RAC 11.2.0.4 with either UDP over IB or RDS over IB as private interconnect.
    So, what exactly does it mean that Standard Edition does not support IB?

    You can run IPoIB (IP over Infiniband) for supporting a standard IP stack. You can also configure it for connected mode (7000 byte MTU recommended). From a TCP/UDP/IP application perspective (such as Oracle), it is just another standard IP stack being used.
    Oracle may argue that relinking the rdbms executable for using RDS as oppose to UDP is a violation of the SE license. But I seriously doubt that they will claim SE prevents you from using IB all together and that using IPoIB is a license violation - as that would just be plain silly.
    But then from an IB perspective - a SE RAC is a really a small minor cluster. Where the performance and scalability provided by IB is pretty much unused and wasted.
    So SE not supporting IB is more a support statement I think from Oracle (not supporting high-end Interconnect with low-end cluster), and not a statement of incompatibility of SE  with IB.

  • MS SQL Standard Edition Produtive use

    Hi SDN,
    I'm installing a SAP EP 6.0 in a produtive host and during sapinst steps it gave me an warning that SAP does not support MSSQL Standard Edition for a produtive use of SAP EP. Well, i've seen in planning and produtive guide that Database instance needs an enterprise edition for MS SQL but, when I installed development portal it doesn't gave me this warning.
    Now, and only by curiosity, how could know sapinst that i'm installing an productive portal, or, in the other hand, why this issue does not appear in development installation (installation DVD's are the same) ???
    Someone know why SAP does support development and QAS environments and not produtive environment?
    Thanks for your enlightments!!
    Regards,
    Pedro Rodrigues

    Hi detlev,
    Thans for quick response.
    The question is that I'll never install anything that SAP does not support, right now i'm waiting for enterprise edition download and I wish to know why this message apears only on Produtive environment installation, i didn't check anything during the SAPinst progress that says to it that it is for produtive use!!!
    Regards,
    Pedro
