Does CS6 Bridge apply bogus metadata to DxO output images?

When I use Bridge to examine JPEGs output from DxO Optics Pro 7, the images are randomly cropped and severely over-exposed. They can be restored via Develop settings/ clear.
I am running OS X 10.6.8 on an Intel iMac.
Lightroom 4 does not show this problem, which is puzzling as it likely uses the same CRaw 7.0.
Has anyone else seen Bridge do this?

Hi Stuart,
I received your email with the photo image which looks over exposed in Bridge, thanks for providing the image.
I can reproduce this issue, and I've logged a bug to the ACR team, once there is a solution or fix from the ACR team, I will let you know.
And I am wondering if the exposure +0.55 is added by your mis-operation, if you had edited the Exposure settings to this file by chance, I am afraid it is by designed that Bridge show this file with your ACR changes. If the exposure and cropping setting are not added by yourself, it will definitely be a bug of ACR.
Currently there is a workaround, please disable the JEPG support in Camera Raw Preference (screenshot as below), then your JPEG photos should be displayed correctly.
If you have more questions please feel free to contact me.
Thanks!

  • Does 16 really applies to 4 zeros

    Please see this link http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/fc/eb3cf4358411d1829f0000e829fbfe/content.htm
    Q]      Does 16 really applies to 4 zeros(see output) , & Why should they be  multiple of 4 -
Why ? Could you please explain  the things .

For your first question: filling zeros....
The position is defined in bytes, and the start of the file is equal to position 0. If pos contains the value -1, as of release 6.10 the file pointer is positioned at the end of the file. For all other negative values and prior to Release 6.10, the behavior is undefined.
Please note the following special cases:
If the file is opened for reading and the value of pos is greater than the length of the file, the file pointer is positioned outside the file. If the position is not changed, no data can be read. In a non- Unicode program, if a file is opened for reading and is then written to, the file is filled with hexadecimal 0 from the end of the file to the specified position, and the new content is written after that.
If the file is opened for writing, the next time writing takes place, the file is filled with hexadecimal 0 from the start of the file to the specified position, and the new content is written after that.
If the file is opened for appending, the position specification is ignored and the file pointer remains positioned at the end of the file.
If the file is opened for changing, and the value of pos is greater than the length of the file, the next time the file is written in, it is filled with hexadecimal 0 from the end of the file to the specified position, and the new content is written after that.
The addition POSITION cannot be specified if one of the additions FILTER or BYTE-ORDER MARK is specified at the same time.
For your second question: Mulitple by 4.
Yes ... it should be multiple by 4 only. Because it will be hexadecimal (4 bytes). And from the first answer you can remember postion should given in bytes...

  • Bridge CS6- Thumbnails gone and metadata too!

    Hi everyone.
    I am in panic mode.
I am running Bridge CS6 (5.0.2.4) And PS CS6. I recently updated something Can't remember if it was DNG and/or Camera Raw.
My problem started today when i went to view a folder of DNG images in Bridge. Initially the thumbnails of the images showed up, but then one by one, the thumbnails turned into the Adobe DNG icon. This is happening with tiff files too.
I went to Tools>Cache>Purge Cahe for Folder... That did not help. I simply can not re-generate the thumbnails.
I've also noticed that when I click on almost any image, my metadata does not show up in the Meta Data Panel in Bridge.
Another odd thing is all my images are keyworded. I used to be able to click on an image, and see in the Keyword Panel the keywords I chose for that image. That is no longer the case, however when I open that image in Photoshop CS6 and get file info, I see that my keywords and Metadata is there!
And the very last weird thing: If I go to the Bridge menu>Camera raw preferences, nothing happens. I used to be able to set my TIFF and JPEG handling options there.
This happened as I was finishing archiving about 20,000 images so you'll understand that I am a little bit more than upset....
Your help would be most appreciated.
    Jonathan

After reading a few things online I decided to try re-installing the DNG/CR Update 8.4.0. That did not help.
I then decided to delete the ACR cache files, the Adobe Bridge 256, 1024, and Full cache folders, since there were tens of thousands of them.
I realize that Bridge might have to rebuild and it would take a while, but was wondering if something got corrupted there.
    (I hope this wasn't a mistake).
I relaunched bridge, and as expected, none of my images have thumbnails, but I also see no way to re-generate those!
BTW- All this has happened with my back-up of this archive on a seperate HD.
I am unable to get the CR preference window to show in Bridge but I am able to acces the prefs from within PS CS6!
    Going crazy!

  • Bridge CS6 not displaying complete metadata

I have CS5 and am playing around with CS6.  So far so good, impressed overall.
I like to have Bridge set up to display the Metadata for each image, and when I view the metadata, it is not as complete as what I see in the CS5 version of Bridge.
Specifically, I like to be able to see the Subject Distance, which is recorded for the camera/lens combination I'm using.  In Bridge CS5, the Subject Distance displays just fine, but it is completely absent in CS6.  I have confirmed this to be the case with my Canon 1D Mark IV, and my wife's Canon 7D.
Also, I like to see the ISO as well.  In Bridge CS5, it shows nicely as "ISO Speed Ratings" while in Bridge CS6, it shows as "(ISO) Photographic Sensitivity" - kind of excessive.  If I only check the "ISO Speed" - nothing shows up.
To verify this, I made sure *all* metadata options in the Preferences menu were selected to display, but despite this, the Subject Distance is not being displayed (and the ISO labeling is a bit wordy for my taste).
Also, I posted this in the PS General Forum, and received a reply from one user that for some of his old NEF files, Bridge in CS5 and CS6 displayed the subject distance properly, while for some newer NEF files, it showed in CS5, but not CS6.
I assume this is a bug, where Bridge is having trouble reading the metadata fields for different raw files, but I welcome any advice on how to get it to display Subject Distance, which is contained in the metadata.  And hopefully pointing out this bug will lead to its getting fixed sometime down the road.
    Thanks.

    Curt,
I posted here, since it's a Bridge Function, not really Camera Raw.  Bridge is where the metadata is being displayed, where the Preferences identify the particular metadata fields, etc.
And while I understand the need to do my share of sleuthing in tracking down a problem, to better define it, I think the cause here will be sporadic, rather than systemic.  As you saw with your own files, some old NEF files displayed fine, newer ones didn't.
Some cameras store Subject Distance in the MakerNote fields, others don't.  Some lenses provide the data for Subject Distance in cameras that do record this information, while others don't.  So there is a myriad of factors involved here, and any additional sleuthing would just identify particular instances where Adobe's routines aren't correctly identifying and reading the MakerNote data.
I've identified 2 current cameras, which clearly demonstrate the problem.  Adobe can examine their routines for these cameras and fix them.  And if/when others come forward having discovered their cameras also show this problem, those can be corrected as well.
As I said, I think this is more likely to represent particular quirks in their routines as they're implemented for specific camera models, rather than a systemic, universal problem.
I spent a few hours looking for another program that will find that information, and was amazed to see how difficult it is.  Even Canon's own Digital Photo Professional does not provide Subject Distance, which shocked me.  I tried PIE, Opanda, iEXIF, Irfan, Faststone, and a few others - none of them correctly found/displayed Subject Distance.
The only one I found was ExifTool, using the mod with the GUI.  This displays it in the "MakerNotes" fields, and interestingly shows 2 data points: FocusDistanceUpper and FocusDistanceLower, both in meters.  The single datum displayed by CS5 Bridge is inbetween these 2 values - not quite the mean, but close.  And as documented above, CS6 Bridge displays none of these.

  • CS6 Bridge (PC) does not show adjustments made in earlier Camera Raw, or even its own Camera Raw! PLEASE HELP.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE WILL SOMEONE WHO KNOWS ABOUT THIS CONTACT ME???
CS6 Bridge does not show ANY of the adjustments I've made in previous versions of Camera Raw, and sometimes (intermittently) doesn't show adjustments made in CS6 Camera Raw.
I'm on a PC, I've uninstalled and reinstalled about 6 times. I feel so upset, I've spent literally HOURS going in circles on the Adobe website, trying to get help on the phone (I'll pay!!!) but there seems to be no way to contact anyone. I've posted this problem several times and no one answers.
If you don't know the answer, can you please tell me how to get tech help even if I have to pay for it??

Thanks, Omke. I tried updating, then applying all the same fixes to the updated version. No change.
I can attach a screenshot, but I must block out names and faces. All you'll see is my Bridge interface, not the faces in the portraits. Hope that helps.

Ok, the issue seem to be solved. The problem was this:
The many hundred files (raw and xmp per image) have been downloaded by ftp in no specific order. Means - a couple of files in the download queue - both raw and xmps. Most of the time, the small xmp files have been finished loading first and hence the "last change date" of these xmp files was OLDER than the "last change date" of the raw file - Lightroom then seem to ignore the existence of the xmp file and does not read it during import.(a minute is enough to run into the problem)
By simply using the ftp client in a way that all large raw files get downloaded first followed by the xmp files, we achieved that all "last changed dates" of the xmp files are NEWER than the related raw files. (at least not older)
And then LR is reading them and all metadata information has been set / read correctly.
    So this is solved.

  • MW64,  cs6 bridge when I move or copy files the  context menu does not retain  recent folder destinations after I close the program

W64,  cs6 bridge when I move or copy files the  context menu does not retain  recent folder destinations after I close the program. The context options that show are the ones from original install. The workspace I set up is also gone. I have every explorer box and cleaner checked to save recent. Had to disable nivedia desktop software because of weird display conflict. Have Dell pro support and they cannot fix. Any ideas to help me with this would be appreciated.

Self-solved!  I work in column view in Finder so get there in a Finder window with folders and files appearing.
There really is no problem, just select an ITEM in the COLUMN before right-clicking!
The "old" context menu will appear. If you click in the white space in that column (or anywhere in a Finder window) and then place the cursor over a folder or file WITHOUT selecting it and right-click you will bring up the secondary context menu - Open, Copy, Duplicate, View Options and a greyed out Labels option. No "Move to Trash".

What edition of LR 5? What edition of ACR does PSCS 6 contain. If they are not parallel (same edition number x in [5 or 8].x ), is LR making a tiff or psd rendition of the image?

  • Help! Toning in bridge and once we make corrections to images it does not stay

    Good afternoon everyone -
We are currently processing a wedding in CS5 and Bridge. Once my assistant tones the images it does not retain the information and reverts to a random horrid color setting.
We have never seen this before - in 100 of weddings we have done.
Any suggestions? Some sort of random setting we hit by accident?
    Thanks in advance -

    Stacy,
I was unaware that the Adobe RAW Converter would even launch from within Bridge, as I have never even tried that workflow. Most users launch it from within either PS, or Lightroom.
Just my guess is that like image Rotation, whch first writes instructions to the metadata, but that will only affect how the image is displayed in Bridge, until the file is Saved, and then the metadata instructions are actually applied to the pixels, something is just not transferring in your case.
Maybe another user, who does employ Bridge in this fashion can help, but I only use it as a file manager.
    Good luck,
    Hunt
Yes you can do that. I do it every now and then. But what does happen when opening ACR from Bridge is Bridge is not accessible until you close the ACR window.
I do this mainly to convert RAW files to DNG's so I don't have to deal with the XMP sidecar files. All edits made to DNG files are stored in the DNG.
As to Stacy's problem I have never experienced this. Always any edits made in ACR, whether opened by Bridge or calling up PS, have always bee retained.
I suspect it is a corrupted ACR 8bi file.

  • CS6 Bridge Under Windows 8 Slow Response

When I use CS6 Bridge in Windows 8 (64 bit) it takes about 10 seconds to open a folder.  I select an image from the grid and press the spacebar to see it full size.  It takes another 10 seconds.  If I go to the Menu Bar and click on an item such as Window it takes about 10 seconds to get the drop down list, but if I then slide the cursor over to View and click on it, the menu appears right away and if I then click on Full Screen Preview, the  full size image appears immediately.  When I check the Widows Resource Monitor there is no unusual activity occurring during these 10 second intervals.  It is as if the program is in a wait state pending some event.
When I was running CS6 under Windows 7 (32 bit) everything worked fine.  When I run CS4 Bridge on Windows 8 (64 bit) it also runs fine.  I have purged the cache, and increaed cache size but to no avail.  My system has lots of processing speed, memory and disk space.
Does anyone know what I could do to get CS6 Bridge running correctly in my Windows 8 environment?   Is it possible that there is some kind of incompatibility with
Bridge, Windows 8 and the GPU?

"There really should be no reason that running in Vista compatability mode would change the behavior of the application. Vista and 7 are so similar at the fundamental level that there shouldn't be any advantage.   Really, this is likely pointing to a lack of OS updates being installed, or installed improperly. One person mentioned that a new user account fixed things. I have a feeling that would true of more folks who are willing to try it. I'll run this by my collegues though."
But if it works it is better than the alternative.    curt
Surprisingly the bit about trying it under a different or new user actually works here.  All the aggruvating 5 to 10 second long freezes disappear when used under a fresh account.
Ok, so how can that be parlayed into being able to use Bridge CS6 under my own account?
Does the fact that it works as expected under a new fresh account point to something particular that needs changing or adjustment under my regular account?
The Adobe staff person seems to think it is most likely a problem of  (lack of) updates or incorrectly installed updates, but that would not have any bearing if changing to a new account fixes the problem would it?
PS - How does one run in Vista compat mode?

  • Edits made in earlier Camera Raws are not displaying in CS6 Bridge for PC

All the painstaking adjustments and croppings I've made over the years to my raw files in earlier versions of Camera Raw do not show up in CS6. It's as though I never did any adjustments.
But if I open the files in CS6 Camera Raw and make a tiny tweak adjustment for all files (such as +1 in saturation), then the entire set of previous adjustments DOES show up in CS6 Bridge.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled Photoshop CS6 a whole bunch of times and this never corrects!
Is there any fix for this? Or did I just get a BAD copy of Photoshop CS6 and am stuck, since there doesn't seem to be ANY support from Adobe for this.
I am subscribed to CC and this problem does not happen in CC Bridge, but I want to maintain CS6 because I don’t trust Adobe to keep the CC price at something I can afford.
PLEASE can someone offer a suggestion???

You have thumbnails set to embedded.  They will not show edits unless you opt for some version of HQ thumbnails, but these take up a lot more room and and slower to build.  Your choice.

  • CS6/Bridge doesn't use GPU on Nvidia Optimus machines

    Photoshop CS6/Bridge
    Win8.1 64bit/Nvidia GTX 870M
Is there a way to force Adobe Bridge to using the Nvidia GPU rather than “software rendering”?
The problem: Starting Bridge on notebooks with the Nvidia Optimus (I tested several) in “preferences -advanced”, the option, “use software rendering”, is not tagged which is correct.
But as soon as I open an image and recheck with the preferences, “use software rendering” is tagged and greyed out, hence zooming and all other manipulations suffer from a lack of speed and smoothness, slide-show for ex. is not usable at all.
I’m familiar with the Nvidia control panel and of course the Nvidia GPU is assigned to Bridge.exe there.
Strange enough, in the registry, the Bridge – preferences value for “use software rendering” always stays on “0”, which is correct.
BTW. Photoshop is running fine on the Nvidia GPU.
It is a shame that Bridge performs a lot better on a 6 years old laptop than on a brand new high end gaming machine only because there is Optimus on board.
Does anybody have an idea for a workaround?

Is there any insight here? I can't seem to get my brand new work y70 to use the NVidia graphics card for any external displays! What the heck is going on!? And, moreso, why can't even the crummy Intel onboard graphics push 2560 x 1600 via either HDMI or USB (through a replicator)? I've had a 30" monitor running 2560 x 1600 for 5 years. This is a brand new laptop and can't push out high res?! It's crazy to me!! EDIT: I presently have the Intel display adapter disabled in the device manager. I have video on the laptop display but I can no longer get ANY external displays to work. Which means, to me, it would seem that the NVidia GPU is 100% relegated to the laptop display, ONLY.

  • Does cs6 allow you to select ALL frames in a document?

I am doing a wedding book.  So I have many image frames on each page.
I want to add a border (stroke) to all these frames.  But to my surprise, it appears that the Select All command only selects the frames in the current spread.  I did a bit of research here and on the net and it seems that, at least for the previous versions, there is no way to select all frames in a document.  This seems very odd to say the least.
Does cs6 allow you to do this now?  Or is there a workaround to quickly add a stroke to all frames in a document?
    Thank you for any help.
    LD

Unfortunately no, but there's a trick you can use. Shapes drawn with the sahpe tool DO accept default settings, so you can use the shape tools instead of the frame tools and place images in them, but that probably doesn't help you at this point.
It actually should be pretty easy to apply an object style to all frames by script -- one or two lines I would think. You can ask over in InDesign Scripting
It might also be possible to use find/change. I just checked, and yes, you can search for the [None] object style and change all, so that may be the best approach.
