Does Deployment Optimizer need a separate server?

We just finished blue-print and came to a conclusion to use SNP Heuristics and Deployment Optimizer. Since we are not using SNP Optimizer, my question is that should we need a separate server?
I did not find any quicksizer document for Deployment Optimizer however, I could see for SNP Optimizer though.
Any help would be appreciated.

Any Optimiser (SNP / Deployment / PPDS / TPVS / CTM) will need Optimiser Server connection as the Optimiser Routines are .exe files requiring a Windows-based hardware with sufficient Main Memory (RAM).
Deployment Optimiser will be part of SNP Optimiser Engine.

Hi Frob,
If you want to be able to move workflow manager to another environment, then you need to install the workflow manager in a separate server.
When you want to use the workflow manager in another environment, you need to leave the workflow manager from the existing farm.
And then join the workflow manager to the farm where you want to use the workflow manager and also re-register the workflow service.

When creating a connection key in cs5, does each user need a separate connection key?

I am setting up multiple users to access a site in contribute (cs5). Does each user need their own connection key or can 1 key be sent to multiple users?

If all the users belong to the same role (like all users are Publishers or Writers), then, you can send a single connection key for all the users. But, if users belong to different roles, then, you will have to create connection keys for each role and then send it to the users.

Does SBS 2003 need M$SQL Server?

I have just picked up a new customer with SBS2003. (I can not tell if it is R1 or R2.) He is using it primarily as an Exchange Server and to share files with Quick Books. The server has M$SQL 2005 installed on it. The server is "refurbished".
His backup is horrible and he does use RAID.
The original consultant has moved to another state. For backup proposes, I inquired of him as to why he had M$SQL installed. This came back from him:
"Exchange does not use SQL. however, SQL is a core service in Windows Small Business Server (SBS). It holds databases for sharepoint and performance metrics for components of SBS. It's a major piece and SBS would be unstable without
it. "
Huh?
"Sharepoint" is a web development tool. Is it even part of SBS 2003?
What "Performance metrics"?
Since when is SBS2003 "unstable" without any SQL server installed?
Am I missing something? 2005 sql server only came with the more expensive version of R2. If this is R1, M$SQL 2005 was not invented yet!

You can still order SBS 2011 from legit sources on the web and rumor has it from HP. But you don't have to purchase the hardware at the same time as the software. I don't think the sky will fall in April, but it is definitely time to move on in a planned
way. I see SBS 2011 for less than 1K USD on the net. Compare that to replacing with standard Exchange and Server at a cost of 4K and up.
SBS 2011 will be supported until 2020 giving you and your customer time to plan for the next round.
Alternatives are Server 2012 Essentials (Role or SKU) and hosted email.

His current system works. He sees no economic justification to upgrade to a slower, buggier, more complicated server. He also can not afford it. If his current "refurbished" server dies, it would be better to put him on Zoho mail
at about $30.00 per month. If he still wants his own hardware, Zimbra or Open Change on Scientific Linux / Cent OS would be only the cost of the hardware and the set up fee. It would give him a lot more stability and software that can be easily
upgraded. If he really wants to stay with Windows Server, I do like your sbs2011 idea. Better all around if he goes with Zoho or gMail. (I am surprised he hasn't been eaten alive with spam.) Thank you!

Does each runner need a separate sensor?

I have an ipod touch and my husband and I are thinking of getting the nike sensor. Do we each need to have our own sensor?

My spouse and I have separate sensors because of our very different running styles. My spouse has a gazelle-like stride, which is significantly longer than mine. We didn't want to confuse calibrations.
I'm not sure if you really NEED to have separate sensors, but I've read other posts that suggest a separate sensor for outdoor vs. treadmill running, so my guess is you'd probably want to do the same for one person vs another.

Does CCM need separate server?

we just started implementing SRM 4.0 (will go with 5.0 once it's released). we are wondering if we need to put CCM on separate server as SRM server. do people normally put SRM/CAT on one server and CSE on another or put SRM on one and CAT+CSE on separate one? what's the pros and cons and how to decide?

Yes, you can very well install both the components i.e. EBP and SRM on single server.
The installation on single or different server depends upon the load of catalogs to be handled(this is one criteria , there may be others)

Problem deploying bpel process to oc4j_soa container on separate server

Hi - after searching for a solution both here and on Metalink for some time, I've reached the point where I think I need to post my problem:
(This might be an application server/BPEL related issue and perhaps more relevant there than JDeveloper. If so, my apologies in advance.)
On client; Windows XP with JDeveloper 10.1.3.4.0, on server Windows Server 2003 with Oracle SOAsuite 10.1.3.
Created a very simple bpel process (ftp get a remote file -> write locally) that I want to deploy on the dedicated SOA-server.
From JDeveloper, the "Application Server and ESB Server connections checks out fine. But the "BPEL Process Manager Server" check failes with the error:
"BPEL Identity Service: Failed" - Details: "oracle.xml.parser.v2.XMLParseException:Whitespace required."
I have not found any postings/info on the "Whitespace required" error anywhere... mighty strange....
I'm therefore unable to use the BPEL Process Deployer, it states that "Server Mode: Server is unreachable".
I've triple-checked all ports etc. The Integration Server Connection is using port 80.
I'm able to access and open the BPELConsole (& EM & ESB) on the server from my JDeveloper workstation.
A "opmnctl status -l" on the SOA-server gives:

I cannot find the "deploy_service" as a separate service on my server however. Only the hw_services are up and running, but it contains a "deploy" web module.

Does Crystal Reports need to be on the web server?

Hello,
here's my scenario. someone who left us moved a .Net web application from server 1 to server 2 and didn't leave us notes of what he did. The report came up on server 2 fine but was not getting the right data so we changed the datasource to get the data correctly. Now we deployed the fixed version on server 2 and refreshed the web server. Now we see the correct results BUT the Business Objects icons (e.g. BO image, print icon, forward and back icon) are all "X" meaning that they could not be found.
We took a look at server 1 and it had the full version of Crystal Reports installed on it. On server 2 it looked like the DLLs were dumped into the GAC and that's all.
We're a bit perplexed by why it was working on server 2 with all the Business Objects icons even though Crystal Reports was not installed on it until we restarted the server with the fixed code. We were thinking maybe it's some sort of caching?? I've never seen this before so I'm a bit perplexed.
Any ideas on why this happened?

no virtual directory to crystalreportviewers115 and Crystal reports is not installed on the server (except for seeing only a few CR Dll's)...so how the heck did he get it working
You're essentially saying something like;
The car has no wheels, no engine, yet somehow it managed to get from point A to point B.
Sorry to say, but it ain't happening...
The only way to get a project that includes CR to work is to deploy the CR runtime. Either via MSI file where a simple double click will install the runtime and configure the viewer directory under the default app pool, or via a setup project you build using the CR MSM files. Again the files will be installed and the viewer directory configured under the default app pool. If your app is under a custom app pool, you need to configure the viewer folder under that pool as the install has no idea about non default app pools. Do we need to copy server.xml while deploying for the first time

I have create a project in JDEV9 EBS 11i.
While deploying/migrating, do i need to transfer server.xml also. is it required
and also there is another sub-folder server/common, schema/server/common in which there is a file bc4j.xcfg? do i need to transfer these folder and files also.
Please reply if any one came across the same situation. appreciate your help.

Deploying adf application to WebLogic Server Version: 10.3.6.0

hi i have develope application in adf using jdeveloper 11.1.1.6.0 i have deploy the application to weblogic 10.3.6.0
this is what i have done
1. i have created a new Managed server in my weblogic=under Environment->Servers
2.the state of my new server is shutdown
3.deployment method
-in my jdeveloper i click application->Application properties->Deployment->new->Archive Type->EAR FILE->applicationName->OK
TO deploy from jdeveloper to weblogic server
in my jdeveloper i click application APPLICATION->Deploy->applicationName->Deploy to Application Server-applicationserver i choose the new server i created in my weblogic->weblogic Option->deploy to selected instance->i select the name of the server i created in my weblogic->next->finish
after that the deployment configuration screen pop up than i click deploy then screen MDS CONFIGURATION invalid pop up with message MDS CONFIGURATION information appear invalid metadata Repository not found in target server.deploy anyway then i click yes
