Does dm1z 3000 Laptop have an Mini PCI-Express Solid State Drive add on?

Trying to figure out if my dm1z 3000 Laptop has an Mini PCI-Express Solid State Drive add on. I opened the back of my laptop and it looks like it has a slot I can place a Mini PCI-Express Solid State Drive.  But my concern is will that slot work for placing Windows 7 OS on that Mini PCI-Express Solid State Drive. [Personal Information Removed]

As far as I know that slot supports a WWAN module and nothing else.

Do I have to configure BIOS on solid state drive (SSD) on dm1z 3000 Laptop?  Want to make sure my SSD device runs 100% well.

    Hi,
You will not have to make any changes in the Bios - by default, your HP bios will already be in AHCI mode.

Sorry new Imac does not appear to have a Mini dp

The new iMacs also do not have a Firewire port so if you have firewire devices you will need a Thundbolt to FW adapter.

  • MSI GX720 and 32GB MLC Mini PCIe Solid State Drive

I know that there is a spot on my motherboard inside my laptop for 32GB MLC Mini PCIe Solid State Drive,  has anyone tried installing one and successfully installed an OS?  thanks for the replies.

I thought you just put one in where you normally put a wireless network card.  There is two slots for mini pcie on the MB.  This is not a typical ssd drive.  It is one that go in the netbooks.

hello everyone. I have recently installed a Samsung SSD (solid state hard drive) into my destop PC. For some reason Lightroom does not see it ? So i cannot ingest photos from it, or copy photos from a card to it. It is not listed as a drive option. LR sees every other drive. My computer sees it fine, so i was able to create a catalogue there. Im running windows 8.1. Any ideas ? I will also add that this drive became corrupt and was repaired by Samsung. Maybe they didn't do a very good job.. ..

Yes pretty much that, but to clarify sorry
    Opened Lightroom.
    Create new catalogue.
This opened the Windows 8 file explorer window and Windows recognises the drive. So I was able to create a catalogue there and save.
I then inserted my memory card into my card reader which LR recognised. I selected it, chose all the photos within and then navigated to the right side of the Lr import dialogue window to locate this problem drive as on this occasion i want the RAW files on the same drive as the lrcat. However all my other drives are listed but not this Samsung SSD.
In addition this Samsung SSD is not listed a drive to import from in the same dialogue window.

  • Does Pavilion G6-1d71nr laptop supports solid state drive?

I have a Pavilion G6(g6-1d71nr) laptop.  Currently it has the factory installed 500GB HD and 8GB memory.  The laptop had been running sluggish lately, I won't be able to increase memory as it maxes out at 8GB per user manual.  I am wondering
if the laptop supports solid state drive(or even hybrid one), I couldn't seem to find in the user manual that the SSD is supported.  If not, will it support a hybrid?
    Thanks!

  • Does imac 2013 have solid state drive?

Does the iMac (late 2013) come with solid state drive? If not, would you recommend the 'upgrade' to enhance video production apps?
    Thanks

The iMac has not had user upgradeable internal hard drives since the G5.    Until otherwise stated in http://www.apple.com/imac/specs.html or the http://support.apple.com/manuals/# None of that has changed.  The good news is with Thunderbolt, you get fiberoptic performance out of external hard drives.  Furthermore, you can build to order your iMac with specific internal hard drives from the online store. And http://www.macsales.com/ has always offered internal hard drive upgrade kits for those who are adventurous to do out of warranty installations on their own.  And some Apple Authorized Service providers will upgrade the hard drive internally for you within warranty.  Call around to find out if yours is one that will.  Always keep the original drive in event the replacement drive fails, and Apple wants to eliminate hardware issues that were not caused by their devices.

  • HT1661 Problems mounting Imac in target disk mode on retina laptop with a solid state drive as host

I'm trying to use an Imac in target disk mode to copy files from it to a new retina display laptop with a solid state drive, but the target drive will not mount even tho it does start in target disk mode. I have all the proper firewire connection. The Imac will not respond for more than a few minutes before crashing when started from its own system. I would like to salvage a few files from it before I perform a clean install of the system.
Anyone has any idea why it wont mount in Target mode onto the retina laptop? Help!
    Thanks in advance. :-)

Mac OS X doesn't offer a "clean install" option.
I'm assuming your target Mac is running 10.6?
And you setup the target Mac without adding a Firewire cable until after the Firewire logo appears on the screen?

  • Solid State Drive Upgrade Kit v300a with Windows 8.1 on Envy laptop

I am trying to install the Solid State Drive Upgrade Kit V300a in my new HP Envy with Windows 8.1. This upgrade was listed as an option for this model  and was bought with the machine.
The doc lists OS supported, but Windows 8 is not in the list. Is Windows 8 supported?
The included disk labled "Arconis" includes ATIHO user guide pdfs and an HP-Drive-Install-Guide-1.15.13-327pm pdf. The install guide mentions using Arconis. The Arconis user guide says to run "setup" to install Acronis but there is no setup file on the disk. I have chosen the setting to display hidden files and there is nothing on the disk but pdfs. The v300a box claims that it includes Acronis Cloning Software.
How do I install this HP upgrade on my new HP laptop?

  • I have a 13" mac book pro with a 250 gb solid state drive and I would like to put in a larger one is this possible

I own a Mac book Pro 13" it has a 250 gb solid state drive and I would like to put a larger one in is this possible.

You don't need to partition your drive to run Fusion, only if you want to run Bootcamp.
If you have space on your Windows partition, I would suggest you backup your Windows partition, and then, delete the partition using Disk Utility.
You can now restore your virtual machine to a single volume or repartition if you prefer.
I would consider upgrading to a unibody MBP (used, refurbished will do) just to be able to access the HD. Opening the pre-unibody MBP is not something you would want to do.

  • I have an internal 256 Solid State Drive on my MacBook Pro. Can I upgrade it to a larger solid state drive? If so, how?

I am trying to free up space on my solid state drive on my MacBook Pro, but am not having much luck. I have come to the point where I am asking myself, "is it possible to upgrade to a larger internal drive?" Please help. I appreciate the feedback.

Yes you can upgrade it. Unless your MBP is one of the new Retina display models. Is it one of the new models with the Retina display?
If not it is the same as changing a regular hard drive. you buy a new bigger SSD. Take the bottom off, aboput 8 screws. Take the part that holds the SSD drive inplace. Remove the cable connector. Remove the 4 mounting screws on the side of the original SSD and istall them on the new SSD Re-Connect the cable. Slide the drive into the drive area. Replace the hold down part. Then put the bottom back on.
Then connect the original SSD to the compuiter with a SATA to USB adapter. Boot the system and hold down the Option key. At the screen that come up select the USB attached SSD and boot the system from it. Open Disk utility and Partition the new drive as 1 partition, format it Mac Extended (Journaled) giving the partition the name of Macintosh HD (or any name you like). Once that is done exit out of disk utility and get a copy of Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper then install that. Run it and clone from the USB attached SSD to the SSD you just installed inside your system. Once that is done shut the system down, disconnect the USB attached SSD and then power on the system. It should now boot to the internal SSD you install. To nbe on the safe side go into System Preferences, Startup Disk and make sure the internal SSD is selected. You are done.

  • I have a 2008 13" Mac Book and want to put a solid state drive in it

I installed Lion firdt and then Clones my hard drive to the solid state drive but it has issues.
I tried to do a clesn install on the solid state drive but the install will not complete

The macbook originally came with OSX Leopard, which I upgradedto Snow Leopard.
I then increase the Ram to the full 4Gig and then upgraded the OS to LIon OS 10.7.5
I decided to swap the original hard drive with a Kingston SSDNow 100V+.
I used Carbon Clone to clone the original Hard drive and swapped the drives.
The issue I am having is that the sytem freezes and I get the pinwheel and have to push the power button to shutdown. The sytems restarsts but I never know when I will get the pinwheel.
I have taken the SSD out and put the original drive back in.
I did try to do a clean install onto the SSD by reformaytting the SSD but at the end of the install the installer loops back to the beginning, or I get the pin wheel again.
Is it possible that the Kingston Drive is not compattible?
    Thanks for the help.
    Jim

    A 15" mid-2009 MBP RAM specifications are: 204-pin PC3-8500 (1066 MHz) DDR3 SO-DIMM.
As has been pointed out, OWC is an excellent source for Mac compatible RAM.  Crucial is another first rate source for Mac RAM.  RAM from either vendor will work just as well as any purchased from Apple with the bonus of being less expensive and having a lifetime guarantee.
    Ciao.

  • Upgrading laptop hard drive to solid state drive. (i am a noob)

So my laptop (HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC) was running slowly for around 6 months, i had enough so i went to the store and upgraded my ram from 4 gb to 8 gb thinking this would fix the problem but the guy told me that my hard drive was slow because it is dting, we talked about what i can do to fix the problem and he said that i should get a new hard drive, he told me that i should get a solid state drive as it fails dramatically less than a regular hard drive and is much faster. I just wanted to know what kind of hard drive i should get, as i dont want to buy an incompatible hard drive. Also if anyone could reference me to some good online stores that would be awesome, thanks for your time.

Yes the 500 will work fine. Just go to the second link in my post above, for the 250gig Samsung 840 Evo, and over to the right are links to get the 500 gig version and even the 750 and 1 TB. See the little gray boxes? The 500 gig is about $315.
