Does dragging transitions to timeline work in Premiere Elements 11?

Hello,
If you drag a transition in the timeline between two clips, before you release the mouse button, you can place it at the left, centered or at the right of the clips  (the cursor looks like a kind of flag and changes depending on the position between clips).
Theorically this should be the same than changing Alignment in Transitions Adjustments dialog box but it doesn't work to me, wherever I release the mouse button it selects Between Clips Alignment.
I'm reading Adobe Premiere Elements 11 Classroom in a book and in chapter 7 Creating Transitions it says "In the test software used while writting this lesson, where you dropped the transition did not affect the alignment shown in the Transition Adjustments dialog........".
It seems that this functionality hasn't been improved since Premiere Elements 11 was being tested.
Does anybody can tell me if this option works correctly, please?
Thanks

marcos
I should be ready soon to post my links to very detailed information on Premiere Elements video and audio transitions.
But of immediate report..
If I have two trimmed video clips on the Premiere Elements 11 Timeline and I drag the Curtain video transition to either Left Clip, Between Clips, or Right Clip, the Transition Adjustments Pop Up will appear. I find no case yet where I can stop it from appearing with the placement of the transition. And, under the circumstances described (2 trimmed clips), the auto "snap to" will be to Between Clips, and that alignment will not be changed when I click Done on the Transition Adjustments Pop Up.
All of that is in accord with the Adobe Guidelines that it has published for what to expect for transition alignment for trimmed and untrimmed clips.
If I wanted Left Clip or Right video Clip alignment, I would have had to have selected that option before I clicked Done to the Pop Up.
Do you see anything significantly different from that when you are doing the same with trimmed video clips and video transitions in Premiere Elements 11?
Thanks for the follow up.

  • Does ARRI RAW footage even work in Premiere Pro CC?

Does ARRI RAW footage even work in Premiere Pro CC? After importing, some footage just says "media pending", and some just appears as a black video. The interface is also extremely sticky. I am working on a current generation Mac Pro, so I don't think it can be performance issues.
The footage seems to work fine on my old PC in Premiere Pro CS6. I was wondering if CC lacks the ability to process ARRI RAW.

OK. Think I've got it now thanks to looking at the short keys and searching for "Full Screen".  The upper left key is "`" which looks like a grave - a slightly angled single quote. But when I look at the "Application" setting for Toggle full screen it is set to "'" - a "normal" single quote.  Sure enough, if I hit the normal single quote key the toggle works.
I have not been anywhere near the hotkeys and can't imagine why anything would change it from a grave key to a single quote - especially as they look almost identical on the screen.  I'm guessing that Adobe changed this (maybe only for international users?)
Anyway I now know how to toggle full screen, although it makes the "Premiere" keyboard with its big purple key for "Toggle full screen" redundant.  Does make me wonder what the shortcut key of "'" or CTRL + "'" gives that I'm presumably missing since it appears to have been remapped.

  • Camcorders that do not work in Premiere Elements 9

I would like to compile a list of camcorders that people are not getting to work in Premiere Elements 9.
I ONLY WANT TO HEAR FROM THOSE WHO ARE HAVING PROBLEMS WITH A PARTICULAR CAMCORDER AND PREMIERE ELEMENTS 9.
I just want to list the camcorder make and model to see what camcorders are not working in the program. I am not looking for help and for those who are having problems you need to post a new thread about them.
I would like to use this list so those that have a specific camcorder will be able to see if others have had problems with getting the same model to work with the program.
PLEASE DO NOT POST HERE WITH TROUBLESHOOTING STEPS OR TO QUESTION WHY I AM DOING THIS, ONLY POST WITH CAMCORDER MODEL AND BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF PROBLEM.
I have not been able to get the Genius G-Shot HD520 to work with Premiere Elements 9, video just does not show when capturing or importing.

    Hi Adobe-annoyed people
I recently installed PE9 but only tried to use today. For downloading, I have a couple of older Panasonic NV-DS60's. Neither of these camcorders worked and I thought it was a problem with the way I downloaded the software. But I get a driver error and a message informing me that camcorders used with PE9 must be capable of streaming video. Therefore I cannot load any video onto PE9 at all, so buying it was Adobe mistake No.3!!
I have uninstalled PE9 and re-installed PE7, which, although constantly crashing, at least allowed video to be downloaded. Anyone want a new version of PE9? It's as-yet unregistered.

elements 12 organizer has stopped working and premiere elements 12 gets msvcr80.dll missing errors

First deactivate the product(s) and then uninstall it from the machine using the procedure specifically for your OS.  If in Windows and I suspect it is then uninstall from the Control Panel.
To deactivate the product you need to go Editor and then:
    Help >> Deactivate
Please also make sure that you have your original CDs and /or DVDs handy including the necessary serial number as you will need them to install the product(s) again.
After uninstalling the products, you need to restart the machine before you start to install again.
You have created the backups of your sentimental photos, right?  You need to just in case the machine causes more problems down the line.

  • Image Mask Transition.... Premiere Elements 10... Someone please help!!!!!

I have followed the instructions to the letter on p136 of the "premiereelements_10_help.pdf" and somehow the image mask transition just does not seem to work.
With a Black & White one colour should be transparent to one clip and the colour to the other clip, but instead I just get the Black & White image thrown on the screen.
Just like a pasted inage into the joined clips.
Please can someone help as I'm sure there must be a step missing.
Using WIndows 7 x64 with the 64 bit version of Premiere Elements 10.
    Thanks.

No worries. Thank you so much for your reply. I thought I was going MAD!!! ( I slowly was!!! )
Will Contact Adobe about this tomorrow.
In the meantime if you're reading this and also are using Windows 7 x64 with the 64-bit version of Adobe Premiere Elements 10,
please try using the "Image Mask" transition using the following steps (as per page 136 of the Premiere Elements 10 manual)
<------------------------------ From Adobe Premiere Elements 10 PDF Manual - Follow these steps to the letter. Play your clip back... watch it fail on Win 7 x64 ---------------------------------------->
    Create special transitions
    Create an Image Mask transition
You can use a black-and-white bitmap image as a transition mask.
The first clip replaces the black area in the image, and the second clip replaces the white areas in the image.
If you use a grayscale image for the mask, pixels containing 50% or more gray convert to black, and pixels containing less than 50% gray convert to white.
    Apply an Image Mask transition
In the Tasks panel, click Edit, and then click Transitions .
From the menus in the Transition view, select Video Transitions from the first menu, select Special Effects from the second menu, and locate the Image Mask transition.
Drag the Image Mask transition to a cut between clips in the Timeline.
In the Image Mask Settings dialog box, click Select Image.
Locate and select the image file you want to use as a transition mask, and click Open. The image appears in the Image Mask Settings dialog box.
    Click OK.
    Cheers.

  • Cannot get "Edit / Duplicate" to work in Premiere Elements 13

Hi.  I'm using Premiere Elements 13 on Windows 8.1.  I've created a title template and placed it above a movie clip. I have several other movie clips, and I want to duplicate the title template I created to use with the remaining movie clips in my project, but with different text. According to what I've read, Duplicate under the Edit menu will permit me to do just that. The problem I'm having is that I cannot accomplish this as, no matter what I do, the Duplicate feature remains grayed out and is not usable. I can't copy and paste my title template because any text I edit will apply to all of my title clips. Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks, Jeff

    Jeff
If you want to duplicate a text title created in the opened Titler or a title template opened in the Titler, you close the Titler and go to Project Assets and right click the thumbnail for the text title or title template and then drag that file to the Timeline. Double click it on the Timeline to open the Titler if you want to do edits on the duplicate.
Expert workspace Edit Menu/Duplicate is not the place to go. Expert workspace Project Assets and right click/Duplicate is the place.
Please review and consider, and then let us know if the above worked for you.
    Thanks.

  • How do I configure the custom external editor to work with Premiere Elements 13

    Situation
I own Lightroom 5.6 and I'm experienced. I've just bought Premiere Elements 13 and I'm a video-editing virgin (be gentle with me). I've spent a day experimenting, reading, watching videos, I've tried asking my question in Premiere Elements forum, and I'm still stuck (i.e. I've tried reasonably hard to solve my own problem).
    Problem
I've tried to set up the custom external editor in Lightroom 5 to send photos to Premiere Elements, so that I can incorporate images into movies. Having set it up, when I use it by selecting Photo/Edit In/Premiere Elements 13/, there is an exciting lull as a copy of the image is created and appears in LR, then Premiere Elements launches, then what??? There is no clue as to what has happened to the image regarding its import into Premiere Elements 13. It doesn't appear on the screen, it doesn't appear in the Organizer, it's no-where to be seen, other than in LR!
    Resolution sought
    Can anyone tell me:
    1. Is it possible to use Premiere Elements as an external editor in LR5 ?
    2. What are the precise settings for each field (I've played with the various field options but obviously haven't yet found the right combination)?
    3. If I configure it correctly, what does good look like: what should I expect to see happen in Premiere Elements when I squirt photos over from LR5 via the 'Edit In' option in LR5?
I don't know if this is relevant: MacBook Pro 16GB 2.8Ghz i7, 750GB SSD (i.e. plenty of space, plenty of horsepower), OS X 10.9.5
I'm hoping the answer isn't 'sorry, it can't be done' because if it is possible, it would be a real contribution to my video editing workflow.
    Thanks
    Phil

You don't have to buy an Apple keyboard, but you probably need at least to buy a keyboard that connects via proper USB instead of through some Windoze-world adapter, which probably requires a driver that's not available for the Mac OS.
The Apple Bluetooth KB and Magic Trackpad make a fabulous combination for use with any MacBook Pro that spends a lot of time in clamshell mode, because the trackpad works exactly like the built-in trackpad. So there's no transition adjustment to make when you pack up your MBP and go portable with it.

  • How do I add a transition between every clip in Premiere Elements 11?

    Greetings -
Folks, I'm looking for a feature that even the cheesy old Windows Movie Maker used to have.  I'm trying to figure out how to get Premiere Elements 11 to add a transition between every clip via some shortcut/quick means.  I find it obnoxious and inefficient that I need to manually drag a transition between every clip.  If I import 200 short clips that I took with my point and shoot camera, it'll take me over an hour alone just to put the transitions in place.
Is there any way to select a transition and have Premiere Elements add it between every clip?  I've stumbled on the fact that you can click a transition and make it the "Default" but have not been able to figure out what that does for me.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Thank you.

I think trying  Edit > Preferences > General > Video Default Transition Duration will fix it.  Mine came with 30 frames set at installation.

  • Audio Effects not working in Premiere Elements 7

I am trying to apply some audio effects (DeNoiser, etc.) to the audio clips in my project, but when I select a clip and select and audio effect, I can't apply the effect.  They "apply" button is greyed out, and if I try to drag and drop the effect onto the clip I get the universal "no" symbol on the mouse cursor.
The audio clips are linked to video clips (footage from an HD camcorder that was imported into the project).  However, I also tried this with the audio and video unlinked, and the effects won't apply then, either.
    Can anyone help?

I have been reading your thread and its responses with interest.
What is the brand and model of the camcorder that you are using? And, what is the file extension for the video with this 5.1 channel sound. Is your video AVCHD or HDV?
    Some thoughts:
    1. Premiere Elements 7 File Menu/Export/Audio will not export the Timeline video as 5.1 channel sound to Audacity, rather Stereo (2 channel).
    2. I do not have an AVCHD file (or any file) with 5.1 channel sound. I have those that list 6 channel. I have found problems when I tried to export the audio from Premiere Elements when the file extension of the Timeline content was .m2ts versus .mts. For the audio derived from the .mts saved to Desktop..no problem for Audacity importing the export as .wav....for the audio derived from the .m2ts saved to Desktop, Audacity shutdown. In the latter case, Audacity seems to import the audio from the .m2ts saved to Desktop, IF the export from Premiere Elements is "Audio Interchange File Format" rather than .wav.
Also, if you have not found out already, regarding MP3 encoding Audacity, when you go to export as MP3 from Audacity, you may get the message "Audacity does not export MP3 files directly, but instead uses the freely available LAME library to handle MP3 fiel encoding."
I am looking forward to your results.

  • Drag and drop Picasa Album Into Premiere Elements 10

I tried to drag and drop videos from an album I made in Picasa into Premiere Elements.  No dice.  I tried to drag and drop files from windows explorer into Elements.  No dice.  I have 200 files from various folders all over my machine, assembled in a Picasa album, and I have no way of importing those files into Elements from what I can see.  Anyone know how I can do this?
I even tried to be clever, grabbing the Picasa XML file that contains the full paths of each file and then creating a space delimited list (with Quotes around each path) and pasting it into the OPEN FILE dialog.  But there seems to be a maximum string length.  No dice.
Your help would be appreciated.  Thank you in advance.
    Keith

Yes, the PREL (Project) file is XML, however it is structured for PrE to be able to read (and write) it. If PrE can read the Picasa XML (the structure makes sense to the program), then it just might work.
Unfortunately, I have never used Picasa, so have no idea of its Album files structures. I also cannot recall anyone mentioning working with it, and PrE, but maybe missed that/those thread(s).
Other than the general observation, offered above, I have no useful knowledge on what might, or might not work. However, as you experiment, please update this thread, as it might prove very helpful to others - and I get to learn something!!!!
    Good luck,

  • New JVC GY-HM100u won't work with Premiere Elements 4...?????Help

Does anyone know if, and why Premeire Elements 4 w
ill not work with JVC GY-HM100U camera?
The video uploads into premeire 4, but I have no audio. Please help.
    Eric

    Eric
You really need to define what you are recording with that JVC camcorder and trying to edit in Premiere Elements 4. Are you recording AVCHD (represented as MPEG4 AVC/H.264) and frame size 1920 x 1080 30 frames per second OR 1440 x 1080 30 frames per second OR what might be AVCHD Lite (MPEG4 AVC/H.264) but with the lesser resolution of 1280 x 720, 30 frames per second?
AVCHD is not supported by Premiere Elements 4. AVCHD support for Premiere Elements exists for versions 7 and 8. There is a special case where, with certain Sony Vaio and Sony Add On, you end up with AVCHD support for your setup. As I recall, in the days of Premiere Elements 4 users who did not have this special Sony Vaio, they needed to convert the AVCHD to a non AVCHD format in order to work with it in Premiere Elements 4.0 (with 3rd party software).
To avoid the speculation, best to download and install the first utility named gspot and give us a read out for Video Codec: Name: Status; Audio Codec: Name: Status; frame rate, frame size, etc. Be sure to indicate what the file extension is for these videos (.mov, .mp4, .m2t, .mts, .m2ts, or other.
    http://www.headbands.com/gspot/v26x/quick_start.html
From what I have read this camcorder does not record SD, but is probably recording AVCHD and HDV. If I am on the right track with this one, have you taken time to look at Premiere Elements 4 with other JVC formats, like HDV, besides whatever you are using now?

  • Time stretch has stopped working in Premiere Elements 13.

I've downloaded the latest Adobe updates. I am using a Windows 8 64 bit computer. I have previously (in the last few weeks) used time stretch to speed up and slow down without any problems but now I can't get it to work in any of my projects. All video files shot with an iPod Touch or iPhone. Has anyone else had this problem? Any ideas on how to fix it?

    Chris
As a point of reference for your Premiere Elements 13 question, I have a iPod Touch 4th generation (H.264.mov 1280 x 720 @ 24 progressive frames per second), and I have no problems using Time Stretch or Time Remapping in a 13/13.1 project or other versions.
I would invoke the interference of a possible variable frame rate rather than a constant one involved with your particular type of video (from iPod or iPhone) and Time Stretch, but I am not having any problem with my iPod Touch video (with minimal variable frame rate) and Time Stretch in Premiere Elements. If you want to explore that idea further, you could convert your video's variable frame into a constant one using the free HandBrake program. Then import HandBrake's  H.264.mp4 export into your Premiere Elements 13/13.1 project and determine if you can then apply Time Stretch to that clip.
Have you applied the Shake Stabilizer to your clip before trying to apply the Time Stretch? For that matter, what effects, if any, have you applied to your video clip before trying to apply Time Stretch to it?
All of the above is based on Time Stretch no working for you in a new project with new source media.

  • Organizer Not Working in Premiere Elements 10 - Help?

I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium, 64-bit, 6 GB of Ram and installed Adobe Premiere Elements 10 a few days ago.
The Adobe Organizer is completely not working. Initially it hung when trying to import a clip, even a short clip, even after giving it several hours to do so.  Tried this multiple times, including after a full uninstall then reinstall. Now when I start organizer, it won't even fully load.  I get the icon in the taskbar, but the app won't open.
Interestingly, I can open a clip when working on a project without issue so far.
    Two questions:
    1.  Anyone else running into these problems using Organizer.  Is there a fix?
    2.  If I can't fix this, can I just ignore Organizer and just go straight to projects always.  Am I missing out on signficant functionality if I do this? . I am still within my return period.  If so, I can return and go back to Pinnacle (ugh - was hoping Adobe wasn't as buggy as Pinnacle).
    Thanks!
    Haus

If you have not done so yet, I would also post to the PS Elements Forum, as subscribers there might have some additonal tips for you. Barb__O, in that forum, knows about as much about Organizer, as anyone, who I have seen. Also, post the details of your computer, your OS, and the problem that you had with Shutterfly. Might be some useful details there.
I'd wait to let Steve Grisetti and Neale weigh in here, as I do not use Organizer, and really do not know that program.
    Good luck,
