Does ds 52 run as 64 bit app under linux?

does ds 52 run as 64 bit app under linux?
Under 64 bit RH 3 AMD64 V20Z?
Under 64 bit RH 3 on Dell or other x86 64 bit hardware?
I've searched all over the public Sun site with no conclusive answer.
Thanks, Mike

No. 32 bit on Linux.

  • Running a 32 bit app on a 64 bit server issue

Please help! I have been trying all of the fixes on the internet and nothing seems to work. I am trying to use the Oracle OLE DB Provider to run a 32 bit application on a 64 bit server - tried on a 2008 R2 and a 2003 SP2, both fail. I have tried with Oracle 11g 11.1.0.6.0 client and the 10.2.0.4.0 client - both fail.
It keeps installing the bin and inventory directories into the Program Files (x86) folder and I am assuming it is trying to run the 64 bit dll's instead of the 32 bit Oracle OLE DB provider DLL's. I have made a new installation and had it install into C:\ProgramFilesx86 but it still installs the bin and inventory files into C:\Program Files (x86). I have tried moving the contents and editing the registry, all I can find is that the inst_loc is pointing to C:\Program Files (x86)\Oracle\Inventory so I change it to the file I created and restart the computer, still get an error when trying to test using a udl file.
Error shows: "Provider is no longer available. Ensure that the provider is installed properly."
I have also tried unregistering the OLE DB dll's located inside C:\Program Files\Common Files\System\Ole DB for oledb32.dll and oledb32r.dll. It only lets me unregister the oledb32.dll. For oledb32r.dll it says the entry point for dllregisterserver was not found. I then register the oledb32.dll file inside of C:\program files (x86)\common files\system\ole db and then restart the server. Still get the UDL error and when i try to connect the application it just say DNS is not reachable. In the tnsnames.ora file there is no reference to the Program Files (x86) directory.
Does anyone have any idea how I can get a 32 bit application using Oracle OLE DB provider to run on a 64 bit server?
    Thank you!
    Jeff M.

    Hi,
Can you please let me know how you resolved it? I am facing the same issue.

  • Why won't 64-bit capable apps run in 64-bit mode under 10.6.8?

have application called Spartan '10, and it is 64-bit capable.  i have set it to run in 64-bit mode in the app's preference pane.  yet when i use Activity Monitor, it indicates that the app is running in 32-bit mode.  is this because of the OS?  will upgrading to lion/mtnlion make any difference?  thx in advance to all knowledgable responders.  btw, the iMac is late 2009, has the 64-bit EFI, and the OS and all related subroutines are running in 64-bit mode, according to Activity Monitor.  the Spartan application is about the only thing NOT in 64-bit mode.  why is this?

Yes.  You have a 64-bit ROM since your model will run Mountain Lion. So, what you want to do is install Mountain Lion which will boot the 64-bit kernel by default. Otherwise: 32- or 64-bit Kernel Startup Mode Selector 1.6.
Note you may have problems in 64-bit kernel mode. Main worry is video drivers that are 32-bit and will not work in the 64-bit kernel. But give it a try. I would just ugrade OS X:
    Upgrading to Mountain Lion
To upgrade to Mountain Lion you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Purchase and download Mountain Lion from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mountain Lion is $19.99 plus tax. The file is quite large, over 4 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
OS X Mountain Lion - System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mountain Lion
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.

  • Safari 7.0.1 doesn't run in 32 bit mode  under Mavericks

    iMac (27-inch, Late 2012), OS X Mavericks (10.9.1)
Safari 7.0.1 -> get info, Open in 32-bit mode checked
    Launch Safari
In the activity monitor -> Disk ->Kind : still  read 64 bit
Testing 32 bit mode with another app:
Logic Pro- 9.1.8 -> get info, Open in 32-bit mode checked,
    Launch Logic Pro
In the activity monitor -> Disk ->Kind  read 32 bit
A bug or Safari can't run in 32 bit under Mavericks ?

So that means that even in 32 bit mode, it has to run some code in 64 bit and that's why it shows 64 bit in the activity monitor even if it is set to run in 32 ?

  • Font problems running a swing app under Linux

I have an application running well under the Win family (NT, 2000, etc.)... and it also runs well under a Linux Red Hat os... but in the linux environment I've observed the folloowing font errors displayed in the screen:
Font specified in font.properties not found [--symbol-medium-r-normal--*-%d-*-*-p-*-adobe-fontspecific]
this is a unexpected issue because I'm not setting any font in my code... How can I solve it ?
It's a Java or OS configuration problem ??

    Here is a solution:-
Copy SYMBOL.TTF to /usr/java/jdk1.3.1_01/jre/lib/fonts or wherever.
Note the copy should have lower case name!
    Do a chmod 444 symbol.ttf
I don't say where to get a copy from but you can imagine!!
Modify the file fonts.dir in the same directory as follows:
Change the first line by 1 ie if its 72 change to 73.
    Insert the following line:
    symbol.ttf -monotype-symbol-medium-r-normal--0-0-0-0-p-0-abode-fontspecific
You have to do the above as root of course.

  • 32-bit apps on x86_64

Hello, im a new to Arch
I have a very newbish question and I guess it has been discussed many times already, but i was not able to find answer, so here i go
I installed the 64-bit Arch linux (x86_64). It seems to run well except for that i have trouble running 32-bit apps.
At first i tried a simple 32-bit app that only uses glibc. It said "no such file or directory" or something similar.
After a bit digging i installed a 32-bit glibc. Fortunately the 32-bit glibc did not produce any file name clashes with the 64-bit glibc.
The whole system continued to work and the simple 32-bit application now worked too.
Then i tried some more complex 32-bit app, which uses other 32-bit libs (lile libX11).
This time it did not say "no such file or directory" but complained about wrong ELF type or something like that.
From that i comclude that now it finds a library with the wanted name, but it is 64-bit instead of 32-bit.
So maybe if i try to install 32-bit variant there will be file name clashes.
Is there a way to run _any_ 32-bit apps on x86_64 Arch linux? Maybe some compatibility package?
If you suggest that i recompile my 32-bit apps to 64-bit, that is not that easy and sometimes it is impossible.
For example i have some binary-only apps that are not open-source. Like, say, the game doom3.

Xyne wrote:What system can run 64-bit and 32-bit apps natively at the same time? If you think another system is doing that for you then it's probably because it hides the 32-bit libs from you.
If no distro can do what i want, then i guess i will have to stick to 32-bit linux for now. I'd hate the thought that half of my CPU stays unused tho
Ranguvar wrote:Arch'll work fine. If you don't want a chroot, then just run the 32-bit app you want, look for its error message, and install that lib32 from the AUR. If there isn't one, make one - it's very simple.
I think the problem with this is that both the 64- and 32-bit variants of some libs use the same name.
Maybe if i put the 32-bits in a different dir (like /lib32 and /usr/lib32) and somehow explain to the 32-bit dynamic loader where to look for them (or patch it)?
It would be best if it was possible to build the libs in a way to permit both 32-bit and 64-bit apps to link with them at the same time. Maybe provide 2 entry points for each exported function - one for 32-bit apps and another for 64-bit.

  • 64 bit noob wants a 32 bit app... [SOLVED...for now!]

I got the following when trying to install Google Earth:
Uncompressing Google Earth for GNU/Linux 5.1.3533.1731...............................................................
./setup.sh: line 216: setup.data/bin/Linux/amd64/setup.gtk2: No such file or directory
./setup.sh: line 216: setup.data/bin/Linux/amd64/setup.gtk: No such file or directory
The setup program seems to have failed on amd64
Fatal error, installer failed to run at all!
Is this just a question of trying to run a 32 bit app on a 64 bit OS?  And, if it is, how do I solve it?  Can I just install 32 bit libs (and which ones?) or must I do a 32 bit chroot for this...that seems rather a drag!  I've read the 64 fit FAQ, and can manage the chroot if I must...but it just seems like a lot of trouble.
    thanks,
    dave

The chroot method is generally regarded as cleaner, but the lib32 method also works.
I'm guessing you're not yet familiar with the AUR? Read up about it, then install this.
    Thanks, tomk,
I'm almost there.  Have read up on AUR, installed all the dependencies (I thought...at least, I installed all those on the page you sent me to, I was still missing
    Targets (2): lib32-libxfixes-4.0.4-1 lib32-libxdamage-1.1.2-1
) downloaded the tarball, unzipped it, ran makepkg...and exit with "no permission to create directory src in bin32-google-earth...etc."
this was makepkg -s, with my password for sudo to work...no luck.
so I checked up on fakeroot...and found that it appeared to be enabled in makepkg.conf...so ran makepkg without "-s" and got the same error....
Thought I would be smart and just go ahead and make the directory /bin32-google.../src myself...and obviously didn't give it the right permissions, since when I ran makepkg again...still no luck, though the error has changed from can't create directory to can't download files into this directory...I can change that, too, but why is the fakeroot trick (or sudo, for that matter...) not working.  (It occurs to me that I may not be in sudoers...but I can fix that...and fakeroot ought to work anyway, shouldn't it?)
many thanks, we're almost there and I'll be a little smarter for next time.

  • Does Java 7 run on only x64 bit MAC OS X?

I want to deliver self-contained application packages on Windows, Linux and Mac so I have build my JavaFX application on all three platforms. I will allow my users to download these native bundles from my application's download web page but I have a confusion regarding MAC users because For Linux and Windows, JDK/JRE 7 comes in two download options
    1. for x86
    2. for x64.
but for MAC we have only option for x64.
Java Download Page shows Java/Jre is not available for 32 bit MAC OSX to run JavaFX application. Does it mean JavaFX will run on only x64 bit MAC OSX?
If it is so, then my issue has been solved, as I have already bundled my Javafx application as a "Self-Contained Application Packages" after run custom build.xml script on x64 MAC OSX but if it is not so, the user can also run JavaFX application on x86 MAC OSX but in that case my "Self-Contained Application Packages" for mac would not run on x86 MAC OSX.
So I am planning to give an additional zip file that either contains app (without copy of jre) or a plain self executable jar. But I'm bit worried regrading - what exactly I need to bundle into that zip file with self executable JAR so requirements must be met to be able to run my JavaFX application in following conditions?
    conditions are : -
    1. If user has x86 MAC OSX.
    2. If java is already installed on user's system. And he would not like to download the "Self-Contained Application Packages" from our download page.
    3. Big download size.
So what among the following two options suits if user have x86 MAC OSX or if he has already installed java on his system or he would not like to download "Self-Contained Application Packages" from download page due to big download size?
    Option are -
    1. APP ( without inbuilt copy of JRE)
    2. Or only a self executable jar.
I am not sure that Mac OS X 10.7.3 (Lion) or later version can run on x86 system. So in case of #1 option the user may have trouble if he is using x86 system. Then he may need to change info plist file and replace the JavaAplicationStub.
In case of #2 option I think is better as the user need to download the JRE only and the JAR should run using "java -jar" command.
Please suggest which option is better in case if JavaFX application can run on x86 bit MAC OS X?

JavaFX will run on only x64 bit MAC OSX?Yes. There is no 32 bit JavaFX 2.x+ build for OS X.

I keep getting message "This page requires a plugin that can only run in 32 bit mode" what does this mean and how can I fix it? It seems to come up randomly, but I'm fairly ignorant.

Previous versions of Firefox were only 32 bit, Firefox 4 for the Mac contains 32 and 64 bit versions. If you want to always start Firefox in 32 bit mode, open up Finder and go to the Applications folder. Control-click the Firefox app and click "Get Info", then select the "Open in 32-bit mode" option.

  • 64 Bit Photoshop CS4 running on 64 Bit WIndows 7 - does it work for anyone?

    Hi,
Is anyone running 64 BI Photoshop CS4 running on 64 Bit WIndows 7 without any problems?   Mine is totally unusable due to wild erratic brushes (clone, healing, eraser and more).  I have had zero success with Adobe.  Two weeks after posting a support incident, they finally responded with an answer that had absoutley nothing to do with my support ticket.  Unbelievable.  SO maybe I'll get another response in 2 more weeks.
I have another thread that explains my problems, but that is not the purpose of this post. For this I am interested in what configurations people are using with 64 bit CS4 and 64 bit Windows 7, especially, what graphics cards are you using in the situations where there are no problems.  I will even buy new graphics cards, because I have to.  I cannot work as is.
Is anyone using dual graphics cards successfully with 64 bit Win 7 and 64 bit CS4.  if so, what cards?
    Thanks

PS CS4 does not support dual cards (or dual GPU cards) so the other card in the case is not being used.
    Set up is simple:

  • Upgraded to 64-bit MBP do I need to reinstall apps to run in 64-bit?

Sorry for my ignorance on this. I was on a 32-bit first-gen MBP, just upgraded to a 64-bit MBP and chose to transfer all Settings, Users and Apps from my Time Machine backup.
Since the old machine was 32-bit will I need to re-install any 64-bit capable applications to actually run in 64-bit on my new machine or will they do it automatically?
Also, is there any way to tell what apps would be 64-bit capable if I do need to upgrade/reinstall?
    Thanks for the help guys!

No you can leave your apps alone and there is no need to worry. You can easily tell what apps are 64 bit by going to Activity Monitor (Applications-Utilities-Utility Monitor) and it will show in the column labeled Kind.
There is much confusion about the 32 / 54 bit applications. At this writing there are VERY few applications that are 64 bit and Snow Leopard boots in 32 bit. Even if you force booted in 64 bit you would NOT see any performance increase.

  • Safari is running as a PowerPC app instead of an Intel 32-bit app

Exactly as the title says, my Activity Monitor says that Safari is running as a PowerPC app. There is some web content that seems to lag compared to other MacBooks. Any solutions?

    HI Zack,
*"There is some web content that seems to lag compared to other MacBooks. Any solutions? "*
Depends on the MacBook's configurations. Not all are the same. You are running Leopard.. others Tiger or Snow Leopard.
Safari should run in 32-bit mode.
Right or control click the Safari icon in the Applications folder, then click: Get Info In the Get Info window click the black disclosure triangle next to General so it faces down. Select 32 bit mode. Also, (in that same window) make sure Safari is NOT running in Rosetta.
