Does 'dual voltage' on my iPod charger mean I can plug it in where system is 220V?

When I travel to countries where voltage system is 22V, can I plug my charger in the wall plug, without a converter (realize I will need a plug adapter)?
thanks!

Yes. It can take anything from 100 to 240 volts.

  • 6288--dual voltage or not?/charging using PC

    Hi,
I am trying to charge my 6288 handset using my PC but it doesn't work. Problem is--I brought the phone to the US from Australia, where the voltage is 240v. Is the 6288 dual voltage or do I need to buy a voltage converter?
Also, if anyone can tell me how to charge the 6288 using a PC it would be even better...
    Thanks

It's only the chargers that differ between regions, the phones are the same inside.
It can't be charged by a PC's USB port using the data cable. You need to purchase a USB charger that connects to the phones chager socket.
Nokia make a USB charger called the CA-100 but alternatives are available.

  • I bought a usb power adapter for my ipod nano so I can plug inti a power outlet. Will this take less time to charge my ipod or same amout of time if using the computer?

I bought a USB power adapter for my ipod nano so i can take it camping and use an outlet. Will this take less time for charging or the same amount as the computer?

    Hi, Atcandela.
I've a Macally external fire/usb enclosure that powers up and mounts directly on to my PB Aluminum 1.67 laptop but the USB portion doesn't draw power.
Do you mean it mounts and works OK when connected via FireWire, but not when connected via USB? If so, that's unsurprising. I would be surprised to hear that it doesn't mount when you use the FireWire connnection, because most drives are able to get enough power from that port.
Does MacAlly not offer a cable for your drive that allows it to draw power from both your USB ports? Some manufacturers of external drives or enclosures do offer such a cable, and it's well worth buying because it's much smaller and more portable than an AC adapter. Have a look at this one from Western Digital — it might fill the bill for you.

  • What does errror 2003 on my ipod touch mean

i have an older ipod touch i think like a 4 gen and plugged it into another computer and all of a sudden it has the screen with the usb plug and arrow to the itunes symbol and ive tried to restore it but keep coming up with a error code of 2003 .....can anyone plkease help me

You can try this but Apple does not list an error 2003
    Check your USB connections
    Related errors: 13, 14, 1600, 1601, 1602, 1603, 1604, 1611, 1643-1650, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2005, 2006, 2009, 4005, 4013, 4014, or "invalid response."
If the USB connection between your device and computer is interrupted, you might not be able to update or restore.
To narrow down the issue, you can try different equipment:
Use the USB cable that came with your device, or a different Apple USB cable.
Plug your cable into a different USB port directly on your computer. Don't plug it into your keyboard.
    Try a different computer.
Solve other issues with the USB connection, then with your security software.
If you still see the error message, check for hardware issues by following the next section.
    Check for hardware issues
    Related errors: 1, 3, 11, 12, 13, 14, 16, 20, 21, 23, 26, 27, 28, 29, 34, 35, 36, 37, 40, 1002, 1004, 1011, 1012, 1014, 1667, or 1669.These errors mean that your device or computer might have a hardware issue that stops the update or restore from completing.
Check that your security software and settings aren't blocking your device from communicating with the Apple update server.
Then try to restore your iOS device two more times while connected with a cable, computer, and network you know are good.
Make sure that your security software and settings are allowing communication between your device and update servers.
If you still see the error message when you update or restore, contact Apple support.

  • Will iPod Charge via USB without.....

Will iPod charge via USB without the computer being on? It was a question I had because if the computer does not need to on... then I can plug it into any computer that has a USB port. I would like to know if the computer is needed to be on... because to be honest, I don't want have to turn on my computer everytime to just charge my iPod.
Right now I am using an old adapter from my previous iPod to charge it... but the problem is me, my mom, and my bro all need to share that charger and tonight, my brother needed the cable to transfer more music but he couldn't because I was using the cable... :-\

Ok... Um... I had an old iPod with the buttons still... not on the click wheel. Back then they came with chargers... so I just use the cord and charger that came with that. But when I got my new 5G I gave my old iPod to my bro... and thats his cord he needs to use for his iPod... to transfer music and what not. I should just buy a new adapter that compatible with the USB Cord, that way me and mom just use that since she has a nano... and my bro can just keep his cord.
    Thanks for your response.

  • Iphone with 3G ipod charger?

Can I use the charger brick for my 3G ipod with my iphone?
The 3G brick is bigger than the phone brick, has a firewire connector instead of USB, and is marked with a different output voltage.
(Reason I'd like to do this is that I already own a dock cable with a dock connector and both USB and FireWire connectors. This would let me have plug-in charger power for when the computer is off (overnight) and constant USB connectivity when it's on, without having to swap cables. My computer has no FireWire inputs to let me use the FireWire for connectivity and USB for charging. I could buy a FW card but I'd prefer not to, my motherboard seems very picky about PCI cards)

NO. You noted that the iPod charger has a different output voltage than the (iPod) charger that came with your iPhone. You will be guaranteed to damage your iPhone if you use it.
    You have two choices:
    1. Use the wall charger at night. (Buy another one, which comes with another dock, and use the iPhone as an alarm clock.)
    2. Set your computer to not go into standby and let it charge the iPhone overnight. Check the battery level before you retire, if you haven't used the iPhone heavily during the day, and you have had it connected all evening, chances are it will be fully charged. Then you can put the computer on standby.

  • What does it mean if my ipod charges only when its off

ok my ipod charges only when its off , ex.i plug my charger in while its on but it doesnt charge at all, not even if i put it in the pc  usb ports. However wheni put the chargerr in the ipod and turn it off, then come back an hour later or so it is charged up.Anybody knows what does it mean when it does that.keep in mind the ipod doesnt charge whille its on.

It means that when your ipad is running with your charger connected, it is using about as much electrical energy as your charger is supplying to your battery.  When your ipad is shut down there are no apps or programs running so all of the charger's output is devoted to recharging the battery.  Your ipod battery may be running down a bit because of age, or you could possibly have too many apps running at the same time.  Running gamming applications uses quite a bit of power.  I'm making the assumption that your charger is functioning properly.  Also, charging via the USB port on your computer is not as efficient as using your wall charger since the charging current provided by the computer usb port is a bit less than the wall charger.  If you use an iPad wall charger it will provide more charging current and therefor would be more effective.

  • Is a voltage converter necessary for charging an iPod in 220v countries?

I'm heading for New Zealand and Australia.  Do I need a voltage converter for my iPod and iPad or just adapters?

The wall charger is dual voltage. You only need a plug converter for the iPad wall charger. The iPod does not come with a wall charger.

  • Is the iPOD classic dual voltage

I have an iPOD classic 80G with video and a bought a charging kit i806 that plugs directly into the wall. My question is my iPOD dual voltage? Will it auto sense the voltage or is there a setting I have to modify? I am vacationing in Ireland and do not want to drag my laptop along. If anyone knows the answer or where I can find it please let me know.
    Thank
    Alex

Thanks for your reply. I realize that the iPOD charges up through the USB and does not directly interface with the electricity coming from the wall; however I am sure the electronics inside would be sensitive to a power surge. Usually dual voltage autosensing is labeled as 110~220V. The voltage on the charger reads 110-240V 50/60 Hz which suggests there is a setting somewhere that needs to be changed. The charger is actually i108 not i806.

  • Why does my iPod Charger keep breaking?

Hi, my iPod charger has broken 3x. The first one lasted for a year, the second on lasted for a week and the third one lasted for 3-4months the last two have looked in just about brand new condition, but they have suddenly broken. I am very frustrated about this! and I was just wondering if you know why the have done this.

Are they Apple chargers, or a. n. other brand? If they are another brand, are they really cheap ones, that could possibly be less durable??
Do you mean broken physically? Perhaps you're being too rough with them.
Or does it simply stop producing power? You are sure it's the charger and not the cable, aren't you? If it's not the cable, then perhaps your power supply to your house is faulty and casuing them to fail.
It seems unlikley that three separate power supplies all "just fail", especially if they are Apple, or any other well known and reliable brand.

  • My computer crashed. So does this mean I can not add any more music to my ipod from a different computer without all the songs being erased? Can I sync my ipod to a new computer if I allow all the songs to be erased?

My computer crashed. So does this mean I can not add any more music to my ipod from a different computer without all the songs being erased? The ipod works fine and now i got a new computer. So it seems like my only options are leaving my ipod in a state where i cant add anymore songs or erasing all my songs and trying to use my ipod from my new computer. Can someone please inform me on how to have my ipod work from a different computer, even if i have to erase my songs. Thanks.

Yes, if you choose the Erase and Sync option (or restore your iPod) you will be allowed to sync your iPod with the new computer.

If after you charge it for about three hours and it only last about five minutes the battery is probably dead or there could be another hardware problem.  I would go back to the Apple store and ask them specifically how can it be OK if the fully charged battery only lasts five minutes.
