Does DVD player support PAL and foreign dvd's?

I am debating on whether or not to purchase a Dvd on ebay because it is in PAL format and I don't know what that means. Will my regular U.S. dvd player be able to play the movie? And will the dvd player application on this computer (i have dvd player version 4.0)?
Thank You

Thanks David,
So, England uses PAL too. Now I know. Where is England anyway? Isn't that an American colony? Or is it an island just north of Australia? - Just playing with ya David We won't talk about the cricket either!
Steven,
You have five chances of changing the region settings on your Mac drive. After that it is locked at that region setting forever. As I said before, America uses NTSC, so your locally bought DVDs will not play on that player unless it supports NTSC playback. If it is region free then there is no issue with regions, but it must have NTSC playback or it is useless in the states.

    Hello,
Does EP 7 supports xHtml and css files?

As I mentioned to Sergio, it was probably when I switched back to flows_010500. When I did
    wwv_upgrade.switch_schemas('FLOWS_010500', 'FLOWS_010600');
I was logged in as FLOWS_010600. However when I switched back using
    wwv_upgrade.switch_schemas('FLOWS_010600', 'FLOWS_010500');
I was still logged in as FLOWS_010600. I believe that's the mistake; I should have been logged in as FLOWS_010500 to switch back to FLOWS_010500. I remember seeing this somewhere in the doc (that you should be logged in as the user you are migrating/reverting to), but it doesn't appear to be enforced.
In any case, thanks Sergio for the quick and easy fix! I'm now going to re-install the flows_010600 user and hope that things go smoothly this time.

  • Can the dvd player support PAL formatted dvds?

    Hi,
I'm moving from the States to France, and I'm wondering of the dvd drive supports PAL formatted dvds. If not, is there an easy, user-friendly way to convert from PAL to NTSC?
    Thanks!

The entertainment industry mafia does not allow commercial DVDs to be "region free". However, a so called "Region 0" DVD can play anywhere, as is the case for most music DVDs. Playing it will not force a region change on the drive. More info on this controversial issue can be [found here|http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVDregioncodes]
Note also that [the VLC player|http://www.videolan.org> can let you play most, if not all, DVD's directly on your Mac regardless of the region and without causing region changes. It also lets you play video/audio files in a great variety of formats.

  • Does Flash Player support 4:2:2 chroma subsampling?

Just a quick question I can't seem to find a definitive answer on...

Here's what I've heard back from our video team:
H.264 does support it, and I believe Mainconcept can handle it too, so we should be supporting it already
    Hope that helps,

  • Does Firefox OS support carddav, and tasks in caldav?

I manage a lot of my day-to-day life on an instance of ownCloud which I access on the desktop using Thunderbird with Lightning, and on Android using various DAV apps. I'm thinking of switching to Firefox OS, but I need to know if the caldav calendar in Firefox OS supports tasks? Also, while we're on the subject, does Firefox OS support carddav as well?

Firefox does support CalDav for the calendars. You can configure the calendar using caldav following these instructions [[Adding calendars on Firefox OS]] . As for CardDav, the support, it is still not available. It is under consideration, and you could request for adding this feature by voting on this bug [https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=859306 CardDav support in FirefoxOS]
    Hope that helps.

  • Qosmio G30: Does Qosmio Player support DVB-T?

The Qosmio television part of my comuter only sets up analogue programs (4 of them). The windows media television works perfectly and tunes in to all (73 of them) free view digital programs.
How can I get the Qosmio to tune to digital t.v. programs? The user manuals and online manual are silent on the tuning.

    Hi
Seems the Qosmio Player does not support the DVB-T.
I found the information that the Qosmio Player Version's 4.3 and older does not support the DVB-T signal. The DVB-T signal can be only used within the Microsoft Operating System.
Seems there is nothing to do! :(

  • Does the Finder support reading and burning blu-ray discs?

Assuming I have an external firewire blu-ray burner (recommendations for this also welcome - which make/model is good, and can I buy an internal model and fit it to a regular DVD external case?)
I'd like to keep a few backup discs of my 1TB ReadyNAS Duo. I could do it using DVDs but it would be quite a stack.

  • Does AirPort Express support fax and scanning?

From the AirPort information on the Apple website there does not appear to be any reference to support for multifunction wi-fi printers and specifically fax and scanning across a network.  I see one image of the AirPort Express device that appears to have a phone line connected and that's all.

The USB port on the AirPort routers will only support a compatible printer.
So, if you have a compatible All-in-One device connected to the USB port on any of the AirPort routers, only the print function will work.
If you need to fax, copy, scan, perform maintenance, etc., you will need to connect the AIO device directly to your computer.

  • Why does apple only support mp4 videos?

It's not really a problem, i usually use my friends computers to convert my videos since mine is so slow.
But why does apple only support MP4 and MOV formats? Why not MPEG or DivX?
I know they cannot use WMV because it is a Microsoft format.
It's just sometimes when i convert videos, the audio becomes out of sync or iTunes complains it's not playable on my iPod.
I would just like to know why?
    Thanks for your time.

If Apple chooses to go with H.264 or MP4 or whatever else they want to support, maybe it would be real nice if iTunes could automatically convert to those formats. So if I dropped my universally standard (and supported by most DVD players) DivX video clip in the library, iTunes would convert and format the video to an iPod friendly format.
So, let me see if I understand this correctly. You want Apple to pirate proprietary codecs from DivX and build them into iTunes QT access. Tell me, does this mean that Apple is working as your agent and you will be the one spending time behind bars or paying the fines. Or, are you saying that Apple should act as an agent for DivX and charge you for a version of iTunes with legal codecs installed. How about Windows Media? Want to double the cost? What about Real? Or maybe Apple should have different versions of iTunes -- one for you and one for the guy who lives next door who uses old Indeo files?
I have tried several 3rd party converters and they all suck.
Perhaps you should be more selective in choosing a converter or invest in a commercial product which is supported by the people selling it.
