Does DW recognize default.htm / index.html?

I'm new to Dreamweaver and am working on an existing web
site. Web servers typically load up a "default.htm" or "index.html"
page when you give it a URL with just the directory name, e.g.
http://foo.bar/about/. Most of
the links in my site are set up that way. How can I get Dreamweaver
to recognize that <a href="/about/"> is not a broken link? Or
does it automatically know to look for default.htm?

He is gaining a URL that never changes, according to

  • Webservice default file index.html

    Dear all,
I had created a webservice for my application and i put to serve a index.html when user accessing the webservice. In my development laptop, i deployed and i managed to access my webservice using localhost:8080\webservice . When i build an installer with my application and webservice and installed it on another new computer, i cannot access the index.html by default. It returns Access Error:404 -- Not Found. I need to use localhost:8080\webservice\index.html. In webservice build setting, serve default index.html for static document folders is checked. The file index.html also inside the webservice folder of C:\ProgramData. My application still working in the new computer , just i need to use localhost:8080\webservice\index.html instead of localhost:8080\webservice. I am wondering why i cannot access the webservice index.html by default in my new computer but i can access when i deployed on my development laptop. Maybe i missed include some additional installer? Here i attached all the addtional installer that i included in my application installer.

Sorry that i gave wrong information about my problem. I just notice that i cannot access to localhost:8080\webservice even is in development laptop. I am accessed  to localhost:8080\webservice\ before this. So now my problem is i cannot access to index.html using localhost:8080\webservice but succeed with localhost:8080\webservice\ or localhost:8080\webservice\index.html . Before this project, i had done some webservice projects but all works well. I had compared the configuration with my previous projects but i cannot found the different. Then, i notice there is service alias in service setting so i added "webservice" into the service alias. Now i available access using localhost:8080\webservice already. Maybe there is some insignificant different so i didt notice when i compare with previous project.  Btw, thank you for your answer.

  • Adobe Reader X standalone client does not recognize default browser.

Adobe Reader works fine if I'm on a webpage and open a PDF. It opens in the browser as it should.
I have PDF files on my hard drive. I can start up Adobe Reader from the desktop and read them, but if I click a link inside the PDF, it opens in Internet Explorer which is not my default browser. I use Firefox as my browser.
Reader 9.4 works great but this new one doesn't cut it and Adobe doesn't provide any support for it that I can find.
I am using Firefox 3.6.18 on Windows Vista. I have reset my default browser several different ways now. I've made IE the default and then Firefox again. I've gone into Firefox options and told it to Check to be sure it is default. I've gone into default programs and re-chosen Firefox. Nothing has worked.
    I have 2 questions:
    1) Does anybody know how to actually contact Adobe about Reader?
    2) Does anybody know a setting for Reader anywhere that I can tweak to fix this? I'm not afraid of the registry but I'm not going to experiment in it either.

I was able to resolve this by disabling Protected Mode at startup.
Go to Edit > Preferences > select General tab > uncheck "Enable Protected Mode at startup" > restart Reader.
I do not consider this a fix since I have now disabled some of the security given to us with the upgrade. This is merely a work-around.
I submitted a bug report to Adobe. Who knows if they'll respond to it.

  • Can't change default index.html on 4.5.2

Nope, this doesn't work when the default is a html file. It may work for a
jsp but I'm starting with a default html file.
Also, if I change the filename to something other than index.html (start.html)
and make the appropriate changes as below:
    weblogic.httpd.indexFiles=start.jsp,start.html,start.htm
    weblogic.httpd.register.file=weblogic.servlet.FileServlet
    weblogic.httpd.initArgs.file=defaultFilename=start.html
Works fine ... but not when the defaultFilename and indexFiles refer to a
index.*. If I try using "index" I always get the default weblogic start page
which seems to be coming from a jsp; I say this because none of the
index.html files in the document root match what is being displayed.

I've tried overwriting the default index.html in
...\myserver\public_html with my own but it never comes up; Weblogic's
http server continues to default to some other index.html. The page
looks identical to the README.HTML but the url reads,
    "http://localhost/index.html".
I've tried changing the following two properties and moving my html and
jsp pages but I still get the Weblogic's default index.html:
    weblogic.httpd.initArgs.file=defaultFilename=index.html
    weblogic.httpd.documentRoot=doc_root
If I change the name of my default html file and specify by full name in
the URL, the page is displayed as expected.
Why am I having trouble overriding the 4.5.2 default index.html? I had
no problems like this on 4.5.1 (no service packs).

  • How can I have a default servlet and an index.html?

    Hi,
I writing a small webapp to test/understand the 2.2 Servlet Spec. I am deploying this as a WAR to Orion, Tomcat and Silverstream.
    The app's name is: "myapp"
My application has an index.html, which is listed as the sole welcome-file in the welcome-file-list element in the app's web.xml.
The interesting thing is that, after adding a default Servlet (<url-pattern>/</url-pattern>), I can no longer access the app's index.html either implicitly or explicitly:
    1. Implicit:
    2. Explicit:
All of these invoke the Default Servlet in all 3 app servers.
Question: How can I have both a default Servlet and an index page?
    Thanks in advance.
    Miles

you can define it in the web.xml file
look at the dtd, element "welcome-file-list"

  • When I try to click on a download link for a .pdf file Firefox does not recognize the MIME type and tries to download the file as "index.php"

When visiting a site I frequent I tried to download a linked .pdf file. Previously I've used Firefox 7.0.1 to download the link with no problem. Using Firefox 8 however I the browser does not recognize the .pdf link's mime type. Instead of recognizing the download link as a .pdf file Firefox 8 tries to download it as "index.php". Firefox 8 does this with .doc files and .txt files as well. When I downgrade to 7.0.1 again the problem disappears.

    Hi hakmacpace,
I'd try starting Firefox in [[Safe Mode]]. If you don't have the issue while all of your add-ons, extensions, and themes are disabled, you can try adding them back in one by one until you find the culprit. You should look at the [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Troubleshooting-extensions-themes Extensions and Themes troubleshooting guide ] and the [[Troubleshooting plugins]] article as well.
You could also try [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/Managing-profiles?s=create+a+new+profile&r=2&e=es&as=s#w_creating-a-profile Creating a new profile].
    Hopefully this helps!

I bought Lr5 only because I got present - my new camera Cannon 70D and because my older Photoshop CS5.5 raw plugin does not recognize. cr2 files.
    Many thanks for your help.

  • In Dropbox, mobile index.html file does not open in Ipad with ios7

Before upgrading to ios7 the index.html file opened to text.  Ios7 was to correct this, but the file will not open in a browser.

I don't think this is a Flash Player problem, but possibly something wrong on your website.
Try asking in the Dreamweaver forum.

  • Reader 11 does not recognize the default MAPI application Outlook 2013

I am having repeatable issues with Reader not being ablet to pop open an email from the Send File command in the File Menu.
All of the other applications such as QuickBooks and Word seem to open an email window and prepopulate it with the attachment as expected.
    Here is the screen cap:
Note that Outlook is open and that it still does not recognize.
I can get the webmail interface to work with the Office2013/Office365 combo, but it only dumps a blank email with the attachment in your Drafts folder.
This problem has been shown to exist on both 32 and 64 bit versions of Windows 7 and both 32 and 64 bit versions of Outlook 2013.
This is a growing issue amongst my Office365 client base, which is a growing client base. Any help would be considered a blessing!

Ok sorry I've taken so long to respond.  The reply button wouldn't pop up for me to reply!
There was never a dialog box asking for me to select the program from installed programs when I open the pdf from outlook express.  But when I opened a pdf from my desktop it asked that question and I had it "always use this program to open this type of file." So I assumed that it was would work when opening from outlook express.  But it doesn't.
I've tried unclicking the protected mode button under the preferences general section.  And finally I'm not sure how to post screenshots of the attachment thumbnail and dialog.  I'm looking all over my keyboard for a button to push I don't have a clue as to what to do!  I do have a print Scr button but when I click on it nothing happens.  I've tried holding down the shift key and the button and the alt key and print scr button but nothing happens.
Could it be that somehow it's not recognizing ARCO.EXCH.DOCUMENT as that's what it thinks the type of document is?
I've already created an association for pdf files and it'll open them on my desktop, just not in outlook express.

  • ADVICE needed --- use  301 Redirect or revert to HTM   from  HTML  ?

Due to ignorance, I now have two versions of the same website online, the only difference being one is all HTM while the newer one is HTML
The original was built using DW MX2004  with all pages having an HTM extension while DW CS5.5 has all pages with an HTML extension.
Obviously I want to replace the old with the new but don't know how to.
Should I use a 301 redirect in the new folder and upload it with the relevant details ie.  Redirect 301/index.htm http:// www.cumbria-dog-training.com/ index.html    OR   rename the new pages with an htm extension and hope that they've not been crawled yet ( they were uploaded 2 hours ago)
I'd be very grateful for any good advice as I'm staring into a rather dark hole at the moment.
    Paull

    Hi
Go into your dreamweaver preferences, (Edit - Preferences) and select the 'New Document' category, there you will see your default extension, change this to .htm and change any documents you have already created to the htm file type, (don't forget the dot before the htm file type).
On new sites you create, I would recommend changing this preference back to html for those sites.

  • MSI x48c platinum does not recognize 2 PCIe boards

    Hello,
I had the same recycling boot problem as others have noted.
It occured with the Antec Phantom 500 power supply and the Antec Signature 850.
Swtiched to a Cool Master Pro 650 and no more recyling boots.
However, I have 2 PCIe cards that this system board does not recognize in the POST (quick boot disabled) and no new hardware is found under win XP.
    Boards are:
Black Magic Design Intensity (HDMI board)
    http://www.blackmagic-design.com/products/intensity/techspecs/
United Audio UAD-2 Quad (audio DSP)
    http://www.uaudio.com/products/uad/uad2neve128/index.html
Does not matter if they are together, alone or which PCIe slot.
These bpards are needed for my work.
anybody else have baords that the x48c can't see?
These same boards are fine with other motherboards.

i just remember     i had once similar problem with a sata driver. the issue is this you can not adjust everything in bios in one go and expect mobo to know about it. what i mean is this for instance you disable the raid then you save it and exit and then when it reboot you go back to bios and reset another another parameter,  you save and exit and on reboot you go back to bios and reset another parameter. i got round the prob that way and it worked and mobo saw the sata HDD. give this a shoot good luck and finally make sure raid is disabled
this is what i would do
1- make sure the jumper setting on your IDE Hdd is correct (Y may have to try this twice as there are two different setting on jumper setting for Master)
    2- connect the sata HDD
    3-click on power
4-go to bios and disable raid save exit
5-on reboot go back to bios
6--on first option click on it then you should see all devices that can be seen by mobo if you do not see sata HDD you have to click on enable for the auto to see the device once it sees the device save and exit. REMEMBER THE JUMPER SETTING  ON IDE HDD CAN CAUSE PROB . SO try the other jumper setting for master, repeat this procedure once more hopefully you get it right

  • Can I delete "index.html" from URL as it appears in browser?

    Hello,
I notice websites often appear in the browser ending in just ".com" with no "index.html" after it.
Is there any way to not have that appear?
    Thanks,
    Jane

Which version and build # of DW do you have?  You'll find it under Help > About Dreamweaver.
Also, which preferences have you specified for new documents?
Go to Edit > Preferences > New Document.
The default extension should be either  .htm or .html, .shtml or .php -- depending on the type of files you work with most.

OK, so you don't understand my original post. I installed the card and software two days ago, 12/16/14. The problem was present at that time. Then today at 1:47pm, I installed the Windows update. The problem persists, that means I still have the problem. The problem exists BEFORE and AFTER Windows update. I did follow your suggestion and uninstall and re-install the Audigy FX software and STILL have the problem.

  • What happened to the firefox icon on htm and html document files?

Today I have noticed it for the first time.. The icon use to look like a blank page with a mini firefox icon on it.. Now the htm and html icon looks like a blank white page that is bent on the top right hand corner.. I tried a firefox reset and it didn't help.. I don't wanna do a reinstall of firefox because I want to keep the old firefox download manager and not the new one that is on the right of the search bar.. ( I saw it on my ubuntu linux computer) BUT my computer with the html file icon problem is Windows 7 x64

It didn't solve it for me. I have tried the switch icons, uninstall and reinstall, making IE default and then back to FF, file association (there is no Program group in Control Panel in XP btw, the earlier Contributor poster is thinking only of Win7) and scanned other forums without any solution.
mhtml and html files save fine, but are tagged with the Windows default icon for a program the o/s does not recognise. This causes constant irritation because while quickly browsing data files, my eye falls on the unrecognised file icon and I pause wondering what is the problem before realising it's the Firefox error yet again.
There are FF users on other forums with the same problem too, some devising solutions which work for them but not for others, probably because computers are so individual.
I am a recent convert to Windows XP 64-bit sp2 on a new build. With my previous 32-bit machines, I had no problem. I think, like Apple, Firefox has not come to terms with 64-bit despite it supposedly being "the future." I use FF v12 because I can't stand the look of its successors. However, from browsing forums, I gather it makes no matter what version is used. It seemingly happened after v11 and continues throughout.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

  • Captivate 4 modify the display layer in Default.htm

In Captivate 1, 2 and 3 I was able to modify this file:
    \Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Captivate 3\Templates\Publish
    SCORM.htm
In doing so I could totally eliminate any blank areas bordering a published project. (The project flash files were wrapped in a table. I merely changed thos tags in the source file and instead used an absolute positioned DIV tag.)
This was desirable because when launching the course through our LMS we wanted to have as much usable space as possible. Additionally, I could “float” a Player Control over the project rather than adding the player control to the bottom or top of the project.
All this allowed a lot of flexibility for the Instructional Designers.
I have been working with Captivate 4 off and on for several months an am not able to replicate the modifications.
In Captivate 4 I am now working with these files:
    \Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Captivate 3\Templates\Publish\SCORM\1_2\
    Default.htm
    Custom.htm
Is there anyone with experience with doing these types of modifications with Captivate 4? I seem to remember posts of this nature to this forum many months ago when Captivate 4 first came out. Is this modification possible at all?
Lastly, in previous versions of Captivate I was able to "float" the Player control over the slide, I am now limited to having the player outside the boundries of the slide. Is there any work-around for this? Is this still not doable?
    Thank you,
    TPK

    Hello,
If I do understand your question all right (sorry, am not a native English speaker), I do believe you are mixing up two things. If you want indeed to publish to PDF (and not to SWF or EXE), you'll get a multimedia PDF (in which a SWF can play) but in that case the user really do need the Adobe Reader 9, previous versions do not support multimedia PDF.
What seems a bit contradictory is that you start with mentioning an issue with a PDF that should be called from a CP-slide. The problem there could be that you were linking to an absolute path on your PC when browsing, can you check that? If you introduce simply the name of the PDF and you make sure that the PDF and the CP-published files (normally HTML, JS and SWF) are uploaded in the same folder, the CP will find the PDF. I think you now have a 'broken link' because of an absolute path reference for the PDF.
