Does Elements 11 need psd files from LR4?

In one of the LR4 tutorials, the suggestion is made to select the option that makes it easy for LR files to be used in Photoshop. I have Elements 11 not PS, and am wondering if I should select that option during import. It sounds like it makes the file sizes larger which doesn't appeal to me unless it's necessary. thanks, Mike

Hi Mike
You don’t do anything on import; you only need to do that when taking a copy from the LR library into the PSE Editor e.g. select PSD or Tiff.
You normally make the round trip from Lightroom as follows:
1) Ctrl+E in the Library to export selected image with develop settings (I choose PSD)
2) Edit in Elements; then Ctrl+S to overwrite Lightroom export copy
3) Ctrl+W to close in Elements and update Lightroom thumbnail.

Yes, if you have PSE 11 (not the mac app store version). You will need to go to Help>Updates in the editor to update ACR to 7.3.

iPhoto doesn't like psd files from anywhere. JPEG and TIFF are the way to go. Why are you keeping duplicate copies of all your photos? Eventually you should choose one organizer or another. Aside from making you crazy, you'll run of disk space pretty fast, unless you have hardly any photos.

Can't open psd files from Bridge CS6

Had both CS4 and CS6 installed, CS4 Bridge added itself when I wanted just CS6 Bridge, so uninstalled CS4. Now cannot open psd files from SC6 Bridge. What do I do?.

What is Bridge doing when you try to open the PSD file? Do you get a warning, does nothing happen? Did you open the preferences in CS6 bridge and set the file opening preferences to make sure they are set to PS CS6?

Damaged Psd file from improper usb eject

I was using a somewhat loose fitting usb device to store one of the files I was working on. Unfortunately my mac had "issues" and needed to be manually shut off with the usb still plugged in. Anyway, I go to open the psd file from the device and I get this error message "This document contains photshop data which appears to be damaged. Continue and ignore the photoshop data?" I clicked okay and then I get this message "Could not complete your request because the file is not compatible with this version on photoshop."
I am in dire need of help. Stupidly that was the only device I saved this psd file on. I've been working on it for days. Is there any way to get that file back?
Any help would be great!

If you are (extremely) lucky, you may be able to open the flattened composite or an embedded thumbnail preview in Graphic Converter or in Illustrator, but your layers are most likely toast.

Importing PSD files from PC

I have been trying to import layered .psd files from a PC. When I import them into DVDSP they show up as a QuickTime Picture with only one layer, instead of a photoshop file with multiple layers. Anyone else encounter this issue?

Ask if they're saving the PSD with the compatibility mode selected. I can't recall exactly what it's called, but there's a preference for saving a "compatible" version of the file. What it actually does is save flattened version of the file along with the regular layers, for apps that can' read Photoshop's layers. Perhaps the file's been saved this way and DVDSP is reading the flattened portion instead?

The issue here is myFile. For flex we need to pass this name as paramenter becuase it's not html form item like:

I'm getting an error:
Failed to import the file. The cffile action="upload" requires forms to use enctype="multipart/form-data". Please also make sure the file is not open.
I can't find the way to setup the enctype becuase again i can have html form items in flex, or I can?

Does Elements 11 support ARW from Sony A330.

Hi,
My name is Frank and i have restarted discovering my camera a Sony 330A. I'm really enthousiastic about it and decided to purchase Adobe Elements 11 for editing my pictures.
I discovered that importing my ARW files is not supported is it.
Can anyone tell me if this is correct or better yet tell me what i'm doeing wrong.

I'd recommend using your favorite web browser and going to https://creative.adobe.com/files for uploading from the computer.
Keep in mind tablet capabilities are much less than a computer, so large files might take a long time to download and be very system intensive to work on. Although you can import files up to 12 megapixels I'd recommend something more mid range, like 6 or 7 megapixels, ie 2880 x 2160 or 3072 x 2304.
Also, PSD files are flattened when imported into Photoshop Touch.

Check Safari/Preferences/Passwords to see if the Facebook account is there. If so, select it and remove it. If you are still having problems, Safari/Preferences/Advanced - enable the Develop menu, then go there and Empty Caches. Quit/reopen Safari and test. If that doesn't work, Safari/Reset Safari.

I don't believe you can at this time. The only way to get PS Touch to import a PSD is to upload it to Creative Cloud first (but even then it'll flatten any layers).

Support for Canon 5D MIII RAW files was announced in ACR 7.1 (Adobe Camera Raw 7.1).
The current stable release is ACR 7.2 while ACR 7.3 is still a Release Candidate (Beta).
Starting ACR 7.2, Adobe stopped supplying a manual download link which was available till 7.1. Adobe Application Manager (AAM) is the only way for you to update to ACR 7.2.
However, here is a direct download link that AAM connects to for the download that you can use to grab the .zip or .dmg (Mac) file. Download and install. See if you're able to open your files then.

Why does psd-file from Bridge start as smart object in Photoshop?

Anybody has a solution?
Instead of opening the psd-file normally from bridge into photoshop the file converts to smart object.
I used to work with CS3 where double-clicking in Bridge on a psd-file would open it in Photoshop. Now, when I double click in Bridge (CS6) it opens a "quick time pro" file, which I definitely don't want. When I use the right mouse to "place in Photoshop" it does so, but then automatically converts the file into a smart object, which I don't want either. What need I do to open a psd-file in Bridge as normal psd-file in Photoshop (and to eliminate the silly "quick time pro standard" when double-clicking in Bridge?

sorry, it was getting somewhat late last night (I live in Switzerland) and after having spent already quite some hours on this problems I wanted to dedicate the evening to more pleasant things.
when I go - in Photoshop - to > edit > preferences I only get the following window. there's nowhere "file type associations" (only in Bridge preferences), and I can't navigate anywhere to > Program Files > Adobe > Adobe PS 64bit > Photoshop exe. Hi , I'm using PhotoShop Elements 11. while trying to open NEF files from Nikon D600 I'm getting message "Could Not Complete your request because the files appears to be from a Camera Model which is not supported....." . Now I tried to update but its showing software is upto date. Camera Raw version I can see 7.1.0.354. Please help me to solve this issue.
