Does emptying cache delete games stats?

This may sound like a stupid question but here goes: On Firefox I am no longer able to load the game Words With Friends on Facebook, but I can load it on Chrome with no problem. One of the trouble-shooting points was to empty the browser cache. I'm hesitant to do that. I have several online games I play which keeps track of my progress. If I empty the cache, will all those stats be deleted? I really would rather not start from levels 1 again.

If you use extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) that can block content (e.g. Adblock Plus, NoScript, Flash Block, Ghostery) then make sure that such extensions aren't blocking content.
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.

  • I accidentally deleted "empty cache" from safari drop down, what are the keystokes for doing it manually?

What are the keystokes for doing it manually? or how do you reload it to the drop down menu?

"Empty cache"  is not available in Safari 6.  (It's not possilble to delete that option from the Safari menu).
    Several workarounds.
One. From your Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Advanced tab.
Select:  Show Develop menu in menu bar.
Now from the Safari menu bar click Develop > Empty Caches
Or, from the menu bar click Safari > Reset Safari.
Select:  Clear History  (that empties the cache as well as deleting history. Deselect all the other boxes, then click Reset.
Unfortunately, Safar 6 omitted the empty cache keyboard shortcut.

  • TS3408 After I update my website, why doesn't Safari reflect this-even after emptying cache? (Chrome does)

After I update my website, why doesn't Safari reflect this-even after emptying cache? (Chrome does). Any help would be great. I am a web developer and need to reload the page constantly to see changes, I can't have it be that safari takes a day to refelct changes-it used to happen instantly, what has changed?

It probably says more about MySpace than Safari but anyway you could try the latest nightly build of Safari's Webkit web browser engine. I always use this now and find it offers greater all round performance.
Try it and see if it helps.
Just click the big 'Download Nightly builds' button on this page.
    http://webkit.org/
In case you don't know, you just run the webkit application instead of Safari but in use it will seem no different than Safari because all you're doing is running an updated version of the rendering engine in Safari. Safari 3.1 remains untouched and you can switch back to that if you wish.

  • Empty cache but save passwords

    how do i empty cache
    while saving my passwords?
    thx
    Deb

Emptying the Safari cache will not delete passwords. Passwords are stored in HD > Applications > Utilities > Keychain Access and viewable from Safari > Preferences > Passwords
With Safari open, press Command + Option + E on  your keyboard to empty the cache.
And there's an alternate way of doing this.
Go to Safari > Preferences > Advanced
Select:  Show Develop menu in menu bar
Now from your Safari menu bar click Develop > Empty Caches

  • Safari question. Empty cache and clear History. Is there more?

I have a slower computer with lousy internet (oh, and I can't find a link to a Safari discussion group; sorry).
I've tried clearing the History and Empty Cache. Is there more I can do to speed it up? Do I have to delete stuff from my hard drive?
    Thanks.

    Yes. Try some of this:
(First, if yours is an Intel Mac, check that Safari is not running in Rosetta, which is enough to slow it to a crawl. If you are running Snow Leopard, try running Safari in 32 bit not 64 bit. Control click the Safari icon in the Applications folder, then click: Get Info In the Get Info window click the black disclosure triangle next to General so it faces down. Select 32 bit mode)
Do you have enough RAM? Less than 1GB can cause slowness. Is your hard drive too full? Less than 15%, or 15GB, of free space can also cause slowness.
If you use a router, does it have the latest firmware installed? Safari 5 introduced 'DNS Prefetching' (Safari looks up the addresses of links on webpages and can load those pages faster) which could strain some routers or modems producing a 'latency' in page loading. This was fixed in Safari 5.0.2, but you may see a benefit from getting a faster router or modem. You can read more about that here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3408?viewlocale=en_US
Adding DNS codes to your Network Preferences, should give good results in terms of speed-up as well as added security:
If you are using a single computer: Open System Preferences/Network. Double click on your connection type, or select it in the drop-down menu, and in the box marked 'DNS Servers' add the following two numbers:
    208.67.222.222
    208.67.220.220
(You can also enter them if you click on Advanced and then DNS)
Sometimes reversing the order of the DNS numbers can be beneficial in cases where there is a long delay before web pages start to load, and then suddenly load at normal speed:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2296
If your computer is part of a network: please refer to this page: http://www.opendns.com/start/bestpractices/#yournetwork and follow the advice given.
(An explanation of why using Open DNS is both safe and a good idea can be read here: http://www.labnol.org/internet/tools/opendsn-what-is-opendns-why-required-2/2587 /
Wikipedia also has an interesting article about Open DNS:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OpenDNS
Whilst in System Preferences/Network you should also turn off 'IPv6' in your preference pane, as otherwise you may not get the full speed benefit (the DNS resolver will default to making SRV queries). If you want to know what IPv6 is:
This is Apple's guidance on iPv6:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.5/en/8708.html
Click on Apply Now and close the window.
    Restart Safari, and repair permissions.
Also, third-party add-ons created for a previous version of Safari may cause problems:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3230?viewlocale=en_US
If that didn't do it, then try this as well:
Empty Safari's cache (from the Safari menu), then close Safari.
Go to Home/Library/Safari and delete the following files:
    form values
    download.plist
Then go to Home/Library/Preferences and delete
    com.apple.Safari.plist
    Repair permissions (in Disk Utility).
Start up Safari again, and things should have improved.

  • Can I reset my search engine to Wikipedia? I don't want any of those default Search Engines anymore they are too intrusive. And I can not Empty Cache any more and Google has taken over the address bar?

Can someone please explain how this now works? And am I obligated to load Mountain Lion. It's a very expensive price to pay for online privacy that isn't even Private anymore. I am old enough that I don't have to pay ransome. I can just quit.
I didn't say and was never asked If I wanted Mountain Lion. I can no longer 'Empty Cache' at the end of a session online and when I do a search now (and this has all changed overnight) the query is typed into what used to be the address bar and when the search results appear, after reading the first result and I want to read the second or fifth or Any of the other results of the query I am forced to resubmit the search in the address bar because the 'Page Back' button has been removed and the Little Red Dot closes the Search Results Page altogether.
What else am I in for with Mountain Lion? I already know that I do NOT want anything to do with iCloud. I am willing to bet a lot of money that a pharmaceutical company one day is going to be holding me for ransome with a new drug that was created out of the symptoms of a once - upon - a - time naturally occuring symptom of aging. At least I can turn my Macbook off and leave it that way and the world will not cease to exist. (Or will it?)

    Computer operation 101.
Get a bootable, external HD (preferably FireWire, since it's 40-50% faster than USB 2 and designed for data transfers), make a bootable backup/clone before updating/upgrading, using something like Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper!, and ensure that it's bootable and works like the original. That allows you to revert to the previous good state without having to reinstall or reset anything. See these for details:
    http://www.macmaps.com/upgradefaq.html
    http://www.macmaps.com/backup.html
    http://www.thexlab.com/faqs/installswupdates.html
    http://www.thexlab.com/faqs/backuprecovery.html
If you only have a Time Machine backup, ensure that you can reliably restore it to another disk/volume/partition before updating/upgrading.

  • Empty cache for DimensionValueCacheTools

    Hi All,
Question regarding "[DimensionValueCacheTools]" not populating map for category.repositoryId and endeca dimension ID [product.category].
We are using default mapping for which /atg/endeca/assembler/cartridge/handler/DimensionValueCacheRefresh has below properties
Key properties of the DimensionValueCacheRefresh component include:
    dimensionName
The name of the dimension in the MDEX. Set by default to product.category.
    repositoryIdProperty
The name of the property in the MDEX that represents the repository ID of the category. Set by default to category.repositoryId.
    dimensionValueCacheTools
The DimensionValueCacheTools component used to access the cache. Set by default to/atg/commerce/endeca/cache/DimensionValueCacheTools.
    navigationState
The component representing the Endeca NavigationState to use to access the MDEX. By default, this is set to the/atg/endeca/assembler/cartridge/manager/UnfilteredNavigationState component, which creates a NavigationStateobject without any refinements or filters applied. This is done so that the set of dimension values returned is not restricted based on the navigational context.
But some how it's not working for us giving error below.

OS X as well as many applications, write the most frequently used data portions into a cache file so as to speed up their operations. For example the windowing system may write the contents of the root level of your boot drive into a cache file so every time you are opening your boot volume it retrieves the information from there. This will make the opening of this volume appear to be much faster.
Some times, however, caches get corrupt. When this happens applications, including the OS, begin to misbehave. In such cases deleting them can bring back your mac to working order.
Deleting caches will not harm your mac per se, however, you may notice that some operations will appear to be slower as applications or the OS are forced to work harder to retrieve or manipulate some portions of data. With time speed will increase again as caches will be rebuilt.
There are three type of caches: global caches, inside /Library/Caches, which deal with processes common to all users in a setup' user caches, inside /Users/username/Library/Caches/, which deal with the processes related to a specific user and system caches, which deal with system processes.
To delete caches you can do manually from the finder, via command line in single user mode or terminal or with the aid of third party utilities such as Onyx or Tiger Cache cleaner (compatible with previous versions of the OS). If you opt for the Finder or terminal approach make sure you immediately restart your mac after deletion.
Bear in mind that cache deletion must not be seen as a panacea, i.e. the solution to all problems. It is not. Deleting them must be a user's last resort and not a maintenance routine.

  • How to empty cache in Safari 6?

In Safari 6, the "empty cache" command is missing from the Safari menu. Does anyone know how to empty the cache in Safari 6?

I have the development menu activated and cannot get caches to clear at all. No matter how many times I ask it to. Like it is completely being ignored. Developing web pages and need them to update when requested. Any suggestions?

  • How do I recover search bar and empty cache function in Safari?

My search bar function is gone from Safari and my empty cache function is gone from Safari after the last update.  I only get the URL bar.  I've tried deleting and then dragging the toolbar items back in.  doesn't work.  Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.  I was afraid of that.  Don't like it.  Any idea why I don't have an empty cache function under the Safari drop down menu?

  • Safari quits with attempt to empty cache

I recently updated to OSX.3.9 and stayed with QT 6.5.2 (need to stay at these versions on this particular computer). Safari v. 1.3.2
The only other change was a recent install of Flip4Mac wmv
Now I can't empty cache in Safari, it quits with each attempt and does not empty cache.
    I'm using a G4 450 single processor.
I've repaired permissions and that did not help.
    Mac G4 450 SP   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

Wish I had read your reply before I dug myself in deeper. I'm now reading Dr. Smoke's articles, which are very good, but I'm getting overwhelmed trying to narrow it down to the simplest thing I can start with at this point.
The details of my now bigger problem are in another post to the Safari discussion, "blue screen, fails to boot". This problem is actually on my other startup disk, but now I can't restart back onto the one that was at least working.
I don't have the drives backed up, so want to avoid doing any "erase" type installs. I'll keep trudging through all the Dr.Smoke info, but if you have any further simple steps you think would help now, please let me know.
BTW, I just today discovered that I can do the "subscription" thing on these boards, so now I can track answers sooner.

  • Safari 6.0 empty cache

Does anybody know how to empty the cache in Safari 6.0, within the new OS. Used to be empty cache was a click under the Safari pull down menu. Now the 'empty cache' is gone. They have the 'reset Safari' click, but that is not what I want to do. Just empty the cache, if that is still possible. I can't think of a good reason why Apple will take this option away. Thanks.

Enable the Develop menu in Safari Preferences > Advanced. The Empty Cache option will be there.

  • Cant close files or quit Photoshop CC!  Also cant delete history states..

I having trouble with closing documents and even quitting Photoshop CC.
I tried the menu, shortcuts and the close button on the document frame.
Photoshop reacts to the shortcut by marking "file"/"Photoshop" in the menu when i push command+w or commmand+q but nothing happens.
I have to force quit photoshop each time. All other buttons work exept when i try to delete history states in the history panel. Nothing happens when pushing the "delete current state" button.
Can someone help me with a fix??

    Boilerplate-text:
Are Photoshop and OS fully updated and have you performed the usual trouble-shooting routines (trashing prefs by pressing command-alt-shift/ctrl-alt-shift while starting Photoshop until the appropriate dialog appears after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved and making a note of the Preferences you’ve changed, 3rd party plug-ins deactivation, system maintenance, cleaning caches, font validation, etc.)

  • Safari does not retain Full Screen state

    Yosemite: version 10.10 (14A389)
    Safari: version 8.0 (10600.1.25)
Safari does not retain Full Screen state when opening, or re-opening, quitting and restarting Safari, or rebooting the computer, even when the last state was in Full Screen.
Under Lion, this did not happen. Safari would always keep the last state used even after quitting, or rebooting the iMac.
    In God's Harmony

navigate to your Users Library folder ( it is hidden , so use Finder's "go to folder" menu ) , then locate inside the Library folder "preferences", search for com.apple.safari and delete the plist you find for Safari.
then restart Safari and it should present all new Lion Options.

  • SUN WS6.0 - empty cache (nsapi, wl_proxy, weblogic)

We are using iPlanet-WebServer-Enterprise/6.0SP8 under Solaris.
WebServer is just a proxy for the BEA Applikationserver, so its configured with NSAPI like ..
    <Object name="default">
       NameTrans fn="assign-name" from="*" name="fsm"
    <Object name="fsm">
       Service fn="wl_proxy" WebLogicHost="bea_appserv" WebLogicPort="7001" Debug="ERR" DebugConfigInfo="OFF" WLLogFile="/applicat/.../wlproxy.log" DefaultFileName="start.jsp" bucket="fsm-bucket"
</Object>The problem is, that loganalyser nsfc shows an empty cache file list (confirmed that with an empty cache temp-directory).
If I request files without goin to bea app (eg files from docroot), cache gets filled up perfectly.
Does that mean .. if i use NSAPI to redirect to a an J2EE application, I can not use cache possibilites of the webserver?
    Advise is very much appreciated!!
    TIA

    Thanks for replys ..
Here is an answer from support:
The iPlanet cache can only work for URLs that iPlanet itself serves. Since a plugin is serving the images, iPlanet doesn't "know" if the image is up-to-date or not.
    Solution:
either a) move the static images out of the web-appliction to under the root directory of the iPlanet and proxy by mime type instead of path so that wls only serves dynamic content.
or b) if both wls and iPlanet share the same file storage, structure the root directory of the iplanet and the structure of the webapp in such a way that iplanet can find the physical image files within the exploded webapp, and proxy by mime-type.

    Hi Blanca rey
You Can try Uninstalling Flash Player using - Uninstall Flash Player | Mac OS
and Use the Offline Flash Player Installer for Mac (Safari and Firefox) from here - Installation problems | Flash Player | Mac
    Hope it helps,
While you try the above suggestion,  can you also share the Version of Mac on which you are updating Flash Player and how are you doing it?
