Does FC Pro X support native edition of AVCHD lite format?

The Apple site mentions AVCHD support not AVCHD lite so I'm not too sure...
If the answer is Yes, does it mean there is no need to convert this format into the AIC format anymore on my hard-disk... In other words will the files be kept to their initial size which is much smaller than the size they would have after AIC conversion (x5 ratio in my experience)?
Thanks

The codec shows as H.264, Linear PCM, Timecode from the 'Original Media' folder and I just created a test clip which was a few seconds, it's about 10Mb and the original stream file on the camera is about 9Mb.
Since I have Create Optimized Media turned on I also get a ProRez version that's about 4x that size.

    Yes, it's PC only. And it can export a FW file to favicon

  • Does New Mac Mini Support Native Command Queing (NCQ) Hard Drives?

    I have noticed the NCQ spec present in certain hard drives, like some Seagate drives. Does Apple support this in the 2009 Mac Mini?
    Info available through Googling "Native Command Queing." Thanks.

    Hi,
    In most cases, if NCQ is enabled with a direct connect RAID configuration (like the internal Mac Pro bays) it does not provide significant additional performance. With some hard disk models having NCQ turned on will actually provide slower overall performance. You can see this when testing the HighPoint and Areca RAID controllers in the Mac Pro as they allow the user to turn NCQ off or on.
    If you read the NCQ spec, it ibdicates performance will be significantly higher with NCQ enabled. I have grown to believe that most of this is in theory, as in real use NCQ usually provides overall negative performance results with a direct connect RAID set.
    The one configuration that enabling NCQ provides a slight overall performance increase is with port multiplier (PM) enclosures.
    While the Apple Mac Pro will support a hard disk with NCQ turned on. I have found hard disks with NCQ enabled will not provide measurably higher performance results than if the HD has NCQ turned off while mounted in the Apple Mac Pro.
    Have fun!

  • Does Premiere Pro CS5 support Smart Rendering

    Please can anyone tell me if Premiere Pro CS5 supports smart rendering for H264/AVCHD or is it still required to by the Mainconcept plugin.

    Bill,
    Usually when one participates in a beta program, like I did with PerfectDisk 11, one has to sign a NDA, which prohibits people from talking about the intricacies, features or capabilities of the program untill the NDA is lifted. Adobe has the same approach, so the old adagio still holds:
    Those who know don't tell, those who tell don't know.
    The one exception on beta programs that I'm aware off is Pixelan SpiceMaster, where I at least did not need to sign a NDA, but even then I will definitely consult Michael before I will utter anything on a forum. RedGiant, Synthetic Aperture, Minnetonka, and similar companies all require NDA's, so those participating in a beta program will have to keep their mouth shut till the NDA is lifted.
    I understand the interest, jeez, I would like to know all the ins and outs as well and see benchmark results on the impact of MPE, but I think we better not behave as pre-school youngsters that want a candy. Wait a couple of weeks and everything will become abundantly clear. I mean CS5 is not expected to ship before mid May, so what is the rush now?

  • Does Macbook Pro Retina support non-Apple optical drives?

    So, Im facing the decision of which Macbook to invest in. I understand the new Retina Macbook Pro does not include an optical drive, which is a problem for me as I am a gamer usually using Bootcamp. I see that Apple offers a "superdrive" though it only supports CDs and DVDs and if I am to buy a seperate optical drive I believe I should go for one that also has Blu Ray support. So my question is if I get a third party drive will it work with my Apple computer?
    Thanks for your time

  • Does Logic Pro X have spectrographic editing like Adobe Audition?

    I'm an actor who needs to be able to record my voice and then clean up the audio to remove extraneous throat and tongue noise from the recording. The best way to do this is using spectrographic editing. Adobe Audition has this feature, but it's much more expensive than Logic.
    Does anyone know if Logic Pro X has that spectrographic editing capability?

    This is very true - the synths in Logic are good.  You may need to spend a little time getting the best out of them, but there are hundreds of videos on Youtube showing you how to do this.  Sylenth is awesome, I use it myself, but I also use all the synths in Logic too.
    There's a wider point here though.  There's a common feeling (and can apply to musicians of all ages, skill levels and genres) that if they get a particular piece of software, or kit that everybody else uses, they'll be able to make music just like those other people.  It's why guitarists (like myself) spend ages and a lot of money buying exactly the same model of guitar and amp as their musical hero.   But guess what - you still have to learn how to play!  And when you do, you end up sounding unoriginal because everybody's heard that tone a thousand times before.
    So my advice is, watch some tutorials and put them into practice - have a good play with what you've got in Logic first.  That'll take a while, so start saving now and then, if you really decide you need other sounds, you'll have a good head start.

  • Does Acrobat Pro 9 support "page-break-before" CSS tag? ie Pagination issues

    Hey there
    Converting a whole stack of html files to PDF and having some pagination issues.  Titles not staying with images and tables getting chopped in half by page breaks etc.
    Thought i could solve it by using carefully placed "page-break-before:always" tags where i wanted the page break.  Works as expected in Safari when i go to print but not when i "File:Create PDF: From File" in Acrobat Pro.  They get ignored.
    Here's how they should work:
    http://www.w3.org/TR/CSS21/page.html#x3
    This is a major hassle. I've got over 600 webpages to convert to PDF's and manually entering <br> to force items onto the next page is getting old.
    Here's some sample html, paste it into a file, save, open it in Safari and then go to print.  It should print 7 pages.  Open it in Acrobat Pro 9.1.0 and you get one page.
    <body>
    test0
    <p style="page-break-before: always">
    test
    <p style="page-break-before: always">
    test1
    <p style="page-break-before: always">
    test2
    <p style="page-break-before: always">
    test3
    <p style="page-break-before: always">
    test4
    <p style="page-break-before: always">
    </body>
    The really nice thing is this would be so useful.  You can attach the tag (page-break-before:avoid)  to a Caption style and always be assured that it will stay with a following graphic when you print the webpage. Or use it to make sure a table doesn't get cut in half.

    Jeremy

    Nope.  Did the </br> thing.
    Cost me some serious cash.  Very annoying.
    I haven't tried it with Safari 5. Acrobat allowed me set page margins, something that Safari 4 didn't allow (didn't support margin css tags).  But acrobat didn't support the pagination and Safari 4 did.
    Like i said annoying
    I'll see if Safari 5 supports the print margins css tags.
    I'll prob get asked to do this again so would like to sort it out

    I want to buy a control surface to work in STP 2, my first choice is Euphonix MC Control but only if STP2 supports the EuCon Protocol ... to get the full functionality. if i will have to use the Mackie Control Protocol with the MC . I prefer to Get Mackie Control Universal Pro for a lower price.

    According to the [Euphonix website|http://www.euphonix.com/pro/post/eucon.php] it supports the Mackie controls for STP (see the boxes on the right). Logic appears to support the EuCon controls.

  • Does Premiere pro CS6 let you edit footage in After effects CC?

    I was thinking about buying after effects cc but then i wonder if you still can have a good workflow between adobe after effects cc and adobe premiere pro cs6?
    /Ted

    Well, if you want just After Effects CC 2014, it is $20 per month. To get After Effects and Premiere Pro would be $40. But getting everything, almost all of the Adobe products, is only $10 more for a total of $50.
    If you are in the USA. Otherwise it can be much more expensive.
    To buy After Effects CS6 to work with your Premiere Pro CS6, it would cost around $900.

  • What does the Pro App Support 4.0 do for Aperture?

    The description of the update is kind of cryptic, I was wondering if someone could shed some light on this.

    After loading my Aperture slowed down a lot. When using the loupe and mousing over thumbnails on the light table I now get the spinning beach-ball and dialog saying "loading image" which I never got BEFORE loading this update...and that's with NO other change to Aperture.. not even any additional image files.
    Not happy.
    Shades of Microsoft updates!

  • Does 10.5.6 Support Dual displays for Radeon 9800 Pro Mac Edition cards?

    Does 10.5.6 Support Dual displays for Radeon 9800 Pro Mac Edition cards?
    And is there driver updates for anyone using the all-in-ones HP printers...has anyone been able to use their scanners since the update? and has the dual screen support been added to avoid the blue screen on startup?

    The ATI Radeon 9600 PC/Mac edition 256 MB should work in the MDD G4. It has two DVI ports (one is dual-link and can support a 30" display). You will need adapters for ADC displays.
