Does FCP HD 4.5 work on Leopard? also, is it UB for Intel machines?

I have FCP HD 4.5 on my PPC G5 running 10.4.10
but is this version compatible with Leopard?
also, I'm thinking of buying a macbook pro
is v4.5 a universal binary compatible on the new intel machines as well?
or will it at least function well in rosetta?

Honestly...
If you were going to be keeping 4.5 - I'd just dedicate this machine for editing and buy a nice new mac for your fun office work.
FC 4.5 is NOT UB and will run in rosetta... but function well?? Hard to tell...

  • Does anyone know if Fusion works with Leopard?

I have a new 20" iMac, 2.4 ghz., with 3 gb ram. I'm running Fusion now in order to run some PC programs not available on the Mac. Fusion runs great in Tiger, so I'm wondering if anyone yet is running Fusion or Parallels in Leopard?
I played around yesterday with a 24" iMac running Leopard and I was very pleased with the performance and the features. I know according to Fusion, the program suppose work with Leopard, but I thought I would check with some of the users here. BTW, I already ordered my new OS from Amazon waiting for it to ship.
Thanks in advance for any help or information you people can give.

Thanks for your quick reply. Are you using Fusion with Leopard, or are you just quoting their website? Also when I get Leopard from Amazon I am just planning on doing an upgrade install. Will I have to reinstall Fusion and my windows programs or will they be left untouched?
Fusion DID in fact work on the pre-releases of Leopard, I've seen screens of it in action.
Also, Windows is placed on a seperate partition from OS X, so it should remain untouched, BUT I'd be prepared to reinstall Windows in case something goes screwy.
    Hope this helps you out.

  • NetInstall dosen't work for intel machines

When booting the machines in my lab while holding down the OPTION key, only the G5 and earlier machines are giving me the icon for NetInstall. NetInstall works great on the G5 and earlier, but dosen't work at all on any intel machine I've tried. The image is marked as "Universal" in Server Manager, and is an image from an intel MacBook.
    Leopard Server 10.5.1
I have 20 new iMac's in route. I really need NetInstall to work for them. Any help would be appreciated.

You say that your NetInstall was taken from an Intel MacBook. Was its OS Leopard? If it is Leopard then you do have a bizarre problem on your hands as it is Universal. Tiger client, on the other hand, is not Universal.
How new are the target clients? Could they have been shipped with a build of Leopard newer than the one you've based this NetInstall on?

  • Does FCP 10.2 it work with OS X 10.10.3

I would like to update to the newest version of Final Cut Pro and I just updated to Yosemite 10.10.3. Is the newest version of Final Cut Pro 10.2 compatible.

The latest version of FCP X, 10.2, requires 10.10.2 or 10.10.3 to run.
I have been running on 10.10.3 without incident.
This was a substantial update, and I am very happy with it, but a number of problems have been reported - some with plugins and more acutely problems with mostly Panasonic cameras.
As always, two important pieces of common sense advice for any update:
    1) Don't update if you are in the middle of an important project
    2) Have a complete and confirmed working backup.
That said, the improvements in this version are awesome. Most people will probably talk about 3D titles (and they did it sublimely well, in my huble opinion), but that alas has a tremendous potential for abuse (as in bad taste 3D for no reason). For me, the masking capabilities available consistently for *any* effect are amazing. The library-wide smart collections, an important help in organization. Plus many little things.
Of course, all is moot if you are one of the (few) people for which the update meant a lot of grief. But as long as abide by 1) and 2) above, you'll be safe (and Murphy's law says that problems are then *less* likely :-))

  • Top 2 inches of the window does not respond. tool bar works fine, just nothing below the toolbar for about two inches, can't log out of email or facebook. can't click to new links in that area. Explorer works fine, just started yesterday 10-25-11

no responses to any hyperlinks or buttons in this area. any button or hyperlinks that scroll into this area go dead as well, and when you scroll down they work fine. reduced the window but still does it.

  • I have 2 iPhone 4S's, one is personal, one purchased by work for me. Can I use the same iTunes account to sync both phones while keeping the contacts that are synced as separate lists for personal phone and work phone, but also allow same apps for both?

I'm hoping someone out there knows if I can use 1 apple ID and 1 iTunes account to sync 2 different iPhone 4S's  - one for personal use, and one for work use. I would like to be able to sync with the same music and app's on both, but need to keep the contacts and calendars completely separate between the 2 phones since I don't want personal data on the work phone or work data on the personal phone. Can you help me figure this out?

    Yes!
Luckily, if you be very careful and pay attention to what you have selected in itunes, you can separate these things
Basically, in iTunes, there are tabs at the top for Summary, info, apps, etc..
These tabs control PER DEVICE what syncs between itunes and the device.
Therefore, you can plug iPhone 4S #1 in, and select to sync contacts with address book, then do so.  Then plug iPhone 4S #2 in, and not choose to sync with address book.  iTunes will keep these settings separate. However, in that situation for music and apps, you would check to sync both on both, in order to get all music and apps on each.
The only thing to watch out for, each computer 'user' has only one set of address book and ical, meaning that if you want to sync both phones to the computer, but dont want to mix contacts, only one phone will be able to sync contacts and/or calendars.  Basically, each category in the Info tab will only hold one device's information, so you CAN do contacts with iPhone 4S #1, and calendars with #2.

  • Working Windows 7 BIOS not yet provided for G530 machines

I am mentioning this on the general Windows 7 forum, because we have waited months, and had several dropped promises on the machine-type forum.
G530 machines can use the BIOS from last June that is supposed to be proper, and become unable even to control screen brightness, as well as many other features of the machine.
As the G530 is a laptop, this is a critical failure on the screen brightness side alone, and so we have no proper approved BIOS for Windows 7.
Our alternative is to use a BIOS that appears on the 'consumer' website, which we are told not approved for G530 even though it says it is for them.
This 'consumer' BIOS fixes the control problems, proving Lenovo knows how to do it for System 7, and knew last May when this BIOS was made.
This 'consumer' BIOS also adds ONE to TWO_MINUTES_ of BLACK SCREEN WAIT to the power-up boot process.
It must be very clear this is not satisfactory, and not a solution as promised to give Windows 7 on G530s.
Of course we have paid for the Windows 7 upgrade as well. Mine was delivered with this charge clearly billed and 'no charge' for shipping, which after all was from only 100 miles away.
Please, Please, give us what you promised now.  Let us put one part of the saga to rest.
Here is a link to the months-long discussion about this:  G530 No System 7 BIOS that works.
    Thank you.

  • Does FCP 5.1 work on a G4?

    Does FCP 5.1 Suite work on a G4 with OS X 10.3.9?
i have a G4 that im going to put as a secondary computer, and i would like to put FCP 5.1 with DVDSP 4,

There's two things you should be searching for regarding this matter:
The first is the technical specifications of Final Cut Pro 5.1 found here:
    http://www.apple.com/finalcutstudio/specs.html?finalcutpro
The second (and more importantly) is the Software License Agreement found here:
    http://images.apple.com/legal/sla/finalcutstudio51.pdf
As you can see by the license agreement you can only instal FCP 5.1 on one desktop computer and one laptop. Given this fact I hope the G4 you want to install the software on is a laptop or else even though you might be able to install the software on it technically, unfortunately you won't be able to legally. Unless, of course, you uninstall it first from your G5.

  • Does Apple Broadband Tuner work with Leopard?

Does anyone know if this works with Leopard? I didn't want to install it if it would screw up the OS. My speed seems bottlenecked at ~5Mbps on a 30Mbps FIOS connection. My speed patched XP box gets ~2.5MB/sec on a download while Leopard gets ~500KB/sec on the same download. Apple should have tuned Leopard's networking better than this.
    Message was edited by: ch0b1ts2600

My speeds in my leopard have not changed and have not needed to use the broadband tuner my adsl2+ connection just flies.
That being said the broadband tuner just changes some tcp values and is not recommended for airport connections.
The system parameters are sysctl variables that are set as follows:
    net.inet.tcp.sendspace: 131072
    net.inet.tcp.recvspace: 358400
    kern.ipc.maxsockbuf: 512000
    The package installer works.
Once installed you can check to see if the tcp values have changed.
in the terminal use the command
    sysctl -a
scroll through the list of values until you find
    net.inet.tcp.sendspace: 131072
    net.inet.tcp.recvspace: 358400
Then you can see the pkg installer did work.

  • Will my copy of FCP run on the Intel machines

I currently have a G5 with a PowerPC chip and I am looking at purchasing one of the new MacBooks. However, I heard a rumor on the internet that my copy of FCP, which was purchased a year ago, will not run on the Intel machines.
    Is this correct?

    http://www.apple.com/universal/crossgrade/
Ok I found the link. So I have the entire Final Cut Studio Production Suite that I bought this Spring. So that means it will just cost me $49 for the upgrade?
Does the crossover effect any other applications?

  • FCP not working with Leopard

Every time I try and launch FCP5 Studio 2 it gives me the "This application Final Cut Pro quit unexpectedly." Anyone have a solution to this? Anyone else experienced this?
Do I just have to wait for an update?

Having same problem with FCP v 6.0.1 and tried the FCP Rescue 6..... Also does not work with Leopard.
I am just about to try this proceedure.
    Delete the User Preferences
You can resolve many issues by restoring Final Cut Pro back to its original settings. This will not impact your project files, but you should verify your Scratch Disk location setting after doing this. To reset your Final Cut Pro user preference settings to their original state, do the following:
In the Finder, go to ~/Library/Preferences—the tilde (~) represents your Home folder.
Remove the “com.apple.finalcutpro.plist” file from the Preferences folder.
Remove the “Final Cut Pro User Data” folder from the Preferences folder.
    Will report shortly.

  • Photoshop 7 DOES NOT WORK with Leopard ( OS 10.5 )

If you are not prepared to upgrade your Photoshop 7, DO NOT UPGRADE TO LEOPARD.
Photoshop 7 and OS 10.5.x (Leopard) are not compatible. When Adobe released Photoshop 7 in 2001 as a Universal Binary for OS9 and OSX they had no idea that Apple would be switching to an Intel chip in 2006. As the release of Leopard is also the end of the Classic environment, this may be the reason Photoshop 7 does not work in Leopard.
As of the release of CS4, Photoshop 7 can no longer be used as a path to upgrade Photoshop. A full version has to be bought now. But Photoshop CS or later can still be used as an upgrade to Photoshop CS4.
It is recommended that Photoshop 7 owners still looking to save money on upgrades stay away from eBay, as, unfortunately, much of the software listed is pirated or misrepresented and you will still not be able to upgrade to CS4.

Can't seem to get to work because it says leopard does not support classic. Does this mean to use office with leopard you have to go to office 2004? Help.

Suggest that you re-post over in the Leopard Forums where the majority of the Leopard users hang out.
