Does FileVault encrypt my files sent to a cloud storage

If I am using FileVault on Macbook Pro are my files encrypted when uploaded to a cloud storage service such as JustCloud, DropBox or SpiderOak?

Just Cloud is a commercial cloud backup that is really a bait and switch scheme - stay away from just Cloud

I'm really puzzled by conflicting information regarding cloud storage. 2GB seems like a really tiny amount. I assume, therefore, that people must only use the package for editing photos and then must use another service to store them in the cloud, as 2GB surely only amounts to about 500 photos, which I'd use in a couple of days. What would people's typical workflow be?
I'd read somewhere that there's unlimited lightroom web storage, but this seems not to be the case.

Does filevault encryption work with time machine?

Filevault under Snow Leopard would allow you to encrypt data on your Mac disk but was not compatible with Time Machine i.e. you could not back it up once encrypted or restore it.
Does anyone know if this has been addressed in Lion i.e. data encrypted in Filevault is capable of being backed up to a time capsule and is recoverable using Time Machine.
The release documentation does not make this clear, although a technician led me to believe it would be fixed in Lion.

According to my experience and to this -> http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1427, FileVault in Snow Leopard was compatible with Time Machine.
The thing was that, as FileVault encrypts your home folder as a disk image in 10.6, Time Machine was backing up that encrypted disk image. So
1. Time Machine could backup your home folder only when you were not logged in your user session and the computer was awake
2. with this system, you could not browse your home folder in the Time Machine incremental backups, but could only restore your complete home folder from that encrypted disk image.
In Lion, however, Filevault 2 encrypts your complete hard drive.
This means:
1. You can use Time Machine with FileVault 2 enabled in Lion (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4811)
2. Recovery HD must be present on your computer's startup volume to use FileVault 2 (not an external Recovery HD) (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4718)
I guess Time Machine, like it used to do with the user's home folder in 10.6, will backup your encrypted hard drive in Lion, but you will not have the ability to browse your Time Machine backup to find specific files / folders in the backup. But this backup can be used to restore your system. (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4811)

You may need a specific version in that very old versions of Reader do not suport the modern encryption methods used with modern versions of Reader. Any modern version of Reader will suffice to decrypt the file if you have the password.

All files have their "native" application. Without the application the file cannot be created.
Once created the file must have the native application to be "opened".
For the application to do that first to open is the software (application).

Spreads removed when Indesign files are posted to Cloud Storage for client review

Although my document is set up with facing page spreads in indesign, when I post it to my cloud for the client to review only single pages are shown. This is going to confuse matters for my client. Any suggestions as to how to solve this problem?

Send them a PDF showing spreads instead of using Creative Cloud previews. They are pretty lame. (They also currently don't show previews for InDesign CC 2014 files.)

How long does FileVault take to encrypt or decrypt?

I have been having difficulty with my iMac (2009) and in going thru each setting, it said that there was a newer version of FileVault so I clicked on the button that said do not use Legacy FileVault. Now my screen is all white with the little wheel going round and round. It has been that way since 10 am this morning. It is now 8:30 pm. All I few ant to know is if I can turn the computer off and go back to the way it was without messing up data etc.. Anybody have the answer?

FileVault encrypts your files when OS X is turned on. This means that your computer isn't encrypting files now, so you can turn off your iMac and turn it on again. The upgrade to FileVault 2 will start the next time you start up

If you want someone to share a file with you so yes it is posible. people can register there email ID as Adobe ID on adobe.com and they can use upto 2GB of free spae for 1 month (Trial period) and upto 20Gb in case if they have purchased Creative Cloud membership and upto 100 in case they have Creative Cloud team account.
After sharing the file by someone you will get an email with the link to download the same on your computer.
If you want someone to upload files in your creative cloud storage then it is not posible because to upload the file on your creative cloud storage CC desktop app or creative.adobe.com website need a Adobe ID and password to login which is not there with the other user.

BTW, I tried moving the Editor app from the support file into the app folder per fixes on this issue in the past.

Does basic membership keep copy of files sent ?

I use adobe send and was looking for receipt of an old file ( or copy ) and did not see anything in my sent folder. Is this only,a service on pay level plans?

Did you use Adobe Send or its predecessor - SendNow?
Files sent through Adobe Send (Paid or Free) are not deleted (unless by you).
With SendNow, files sent with Free accounts were deleted after seven days.

How to restore a file inside an encrypted sparsebundle file saved in time machine

Hi,
On Mac OS X 10.6.6, I use an encrypted sparsebundle file to save sensitive corporate files (not using the Filevault built-in feature), mounting it and using it as a folder.
The sparse bundle is in my Documents folder which is part of my Time Machine backup.
Unfortunately, timemachine doesn't actually see what's inside the sparsebundle file and can't restore only one of the files from it.
I always have to restore the full sparsebundle, which is 34G as of now...
Is there a way to let timemachine index and store the content of the encrypted sparsebundle, without compromising the confidentiality of course?
What other completely different solution should I use otherwise?

Not a good sign. That's the message OSX sends when a disk image is corrupted. Can you restore the whole thing, and still see the contents?
It seems an external drive or partitioning the drive would be required, unless using sparsebundle files would do the same.
A separate drive or partition, each with different passwords, would probably work.
side question, it seems TM saved the entire modified files and not only the modified blocks. Does it behave the same for sparsebundles? it doesn't seem to copy my 34G file everytime.
Do you have a "sparse disk image" or a "sparse bundle disk image"? As I understand it, Time Machine saves the entire contents of a sparse disk image if anything's changed, but only the modified "bands" of a sparse bundle disk image (but only when they're not mounted).
If you use an encrypted HD or partition, it should work normally -- just saving the individual files that are changed, and allowing you to view and restore individual items.

How much protection does Filevault really provide?

I have a new Macbook Pro laptop
I have it set so that it does NOT automatically log me in. My password is required upon bootup.
But I am fully aware that anyone with an install disc can boot up my machine and change my password.
I want to have full protection should my laptop ever get stolen / fall into the wrong hands because of how much information someone could potentially have access to.
I know Filevault encrypts the home folder.....but does this mean it could provide protection for that kinda of a situation, so that even if someone changes my login password with an OS X install disc, that they would NOT have access to any of my addressbook info or files, etc?

Filevault encryption frozen

Hello, I have a 2011 macbook air 1.8 i7, 4 gigs ram, with 130 gb used of the 256 available on the ssd... I installed yosemite a week ago and the filevault encryption process hasn't moved since mid last week, it is stuck at around 70% with anywhere from 2 hours to 450 days left. I have seen others on the forums having the same issue but with no answers that work so I thought I would ask in case someone with an answer hasn't seen the question.
I have tried reseting the pram and smc, verified and repaired disc permissions, gone into recovery mode and verified and repaired the different discs but none of it works. And the encryption process keeps running even when its not plugged in so I am losing upwards of 30-40% of battery an hour depending on what else I am doing.
I have also left the machine to run for over 48 hours straight over the weekend, never going to sleep and never being shut off and the process didn't progress at all. Does anyone know how I can fix this without losing any of my data, my last back up was from a few weeks ago and would like to try and save what is on here since then, if possible.

I'm using OS 10.6.8 and Mail 4.5. When I receive mails with attachments which are visible the save button doesn't work. Some contacts have problems opening files sent by me using Mail too. This was never a problem on pre-Intel. A real Mac **** up !

Can you drag and drop the attachments visible in the email to the Desktop OK or does that fail ?
Re the sending: Are these recipients on Mac's or PC's as the file type could be an issue, if on Mac's then try setting the Mail Preferences Composing setting to Plain Text not Rich Text and see if that improves things.
