Does Final Cut Pro X support TS.BUP, RM.BUP, and TS.VOB Video Files

I would like to know if I can import the named files in my question into Final Cut Pro X.
Thinking about buying it, but want to know before I do.

Thanks again Tom Wolsky. I did however download the trial version of Wondershare Video Converter Ultimate for Mac, and it worked very very well. I just discovered that it also supports three professional encoders, Apple Intermediate Codec, ProRes and DNxHD—ensuring maximum editing quality and efficiency when working with iMovie, Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere or Avid Media Composer, respectively. For what it's worth, it also can convert a broad range of video formats to these three professional encoding formats easily and quickly. This means an advantage over Apple Compressor 4, which only supports conversion to videos in QuickTime format.
I only tried it because I viewed a video by Chris Pirillo (former TechTV host) and CNN tech correspondent who highgly recommend it for my issue. It's a lockergnome review. I pasted the page link at the bottom if your interested in hearing what they have to say. It's on YouTube, just type in WonderShare. Again thankyou for your time and expertise.

I'm looking at a pro/broadcast project that I'll be shooting in RAW Cinema DNG.  Does Final Cut Pro X support this format?  I can shoot in ProRes, but I don't want to for this particular project.

  • Does Final Cut Pro X support all video files as did its prior version Final Cut Pro Studio?

    Hi,
Use to have a Mac Pro and had Fina Cut Pro Studio. Now I have just got a new Macbook Pro (Lion), and have just purchased the new Final Cut Pro X from the App store. I am having problems importing 3gps files into FCP X. I never had a problem with the $1000 version of studio. Does the new FCP X have limitations on what video files are compatible with it? do I need to purchase additional plug-ins etc???
    Ta
    Zeb

Really depends on the specific file type you want to work with. FCP X does not support every single flavor of video FCP 7 did, so it's not a huge surprise if the file you're using is not supported. That said, there's plenty of free third party tools you could use to convert it to a regular QuickTime ProRes file that FCP X would accept. For example- http://www.squared5.com/ would most likely be able to load it. Try and let us know. And if that doesn't work please provide more details about the 3gps file you're using.

  • Does Final Cut Pro X support two displays?

Is there a download or update that allows Final Cut Pro X to support a second display to play video out?

You can place the viewer on a second monitor but you cannot spread the interface across two monitors. The same thing goes with Motion. Using a second 27" monitor just to show the viewer is a humongous waste of resources.
With previous versions of FCP and Motion I could place a group of panels on the second monitor so that I did not have to dig through tabs to find what I wanted. Everything I needed was right there. Nothing was hidden. After upgrading to the latest version of Motion it felt like my elbows were tied together and things slowed down considerably. FCPX takes a similar approach.
The ability to break apart the default arrangement and spread out the interface is a tried and true approach. I can't imagine how awful it would be if Adobe forced its flagship apps into such a restrictive model. I know that the docking tabs thing was an ongoing source of litigation between Adobe and Macromedia back in the day. I assume that Apple didn't feel like paying a royalty or something. I don't care if I have to pay a few bucks more. When FCP and Motion resumes an open interface approach, I will happily make the jump back from AfterEffects and Premiere Pro and will upgrade to FCPX.
For a video pro, everything hinges on productivity and in a high speed environment, every minute counts. If everything I do in an app requires digging through tabs, this becomes very expensive and it affects the fluidity of the creative process. It can also make the difference in whether you can have the content ready in time for the broadcast, which means you have to dumb down the result. Either way you go, you lose: you either get a reputation for taking too long or for turning in a second rate project. It doesn't just affect productivity, but it has an impact on salaries and promotions.
My recommendation to Apple is that they consider that not every video pro in the field works in the same way as the Apple's product manager does. Apple's previous approach to interface design recognized this and it worked wonderfully. During the Samsung thing Phil Schiller specifically stated that Apple doesn't listen to its customers when designing products. I would think that if the opposite were true, the customers would be happier and more productive. Just a thought....

  • Does Final Cut Pro 5 support 24F HDV

Just wondering -- I'm about to install a version of Final Cut Pro 5 on my old non-Intel G5. I know FCP5 natively supports HDV. But would it support 24F HDV from a Canon XH-A1? If not, would there be any workaround?
    Any help appreciated!

5.1.4 has this setting. Don't remember if 5.0.x did though.

  • Does Final Cut Pro offer native support for DVCPRO HD 720p25?

I would like to online a DVCPRO HD project on a Final Cut Pro suite with an HD i/o card, but I just wanted to make sure that the latest Final Cut Pro offers support for DVCPRO HD 720p25 before making the jump.

Thanks for the info. I will check if the production company's Blackmagic HD card supports DVCPRO 720p25.
Just for your information, we have offline edited on an Avid MC Adrenaline. We have had the biggest problems ingesting the media since we shot on a Varicam at 25p and the Avid wouldn't accept firewire. So we ended up cutting in 30i. Which now ***** since the online is a pain.
It seems like we will export an EDL per video track from the Avid, then hopefully find a company or a person who will convert our 30fps EDL to 25fps via the software EDLMax24. Then import the EDLs into a Final Cut Pro HD suite with a Blackmagic HD card via HD-SDI, and online from the HD AJ-1400 deck. And hopefully that will work.
The only outstanding thing is to find someone with EDLMAX24 since it retails at 600USD.

  • Final cut pro X is supposed to accept AVI. Yet the AVI files my client gave me don't work. I know there are softwares that can convert AVI to APPLE PRORES, but does that affect the quality of the media ?

Final cut pro X is supposed to accept AVI. However the AVI files my client gave me cannot be imported in my Final cut pro X. I know there are softwares that can convert AVI to APPLE PRO RES, but does that alter the quality of the media ?

There are apps that will give you tech specs on files. I think Media Info is one. Most likely it's in done delivery codec like DiVX. AVI is a piece of **** as a container anyway and should have been completely abandoned years ago.

  • Final Cut Pro System support folder missing

I downloaded a cool plug in for a aged film look but I cannot find the "Final Cut Pro System support folder" in which i have to place this plug-in.
    Any Ideas?

*Hard Drive/Library/Application Support/Final Cut Pro System Support.*
Your plugin goes into the Plugins folder.
You will need to authenticate with an Admin password to modify the folder.

  • How does final cut pro x export a file if it has not finished rendering?

How does final cut pro x export a file if it has not finished rendering?
So today I finished a project: Share >Export > as a pro res 422 and I'm now burning with iDVD as we speak. FCPX is still doing background rendering! I hope my DVD turns out ok....

You don't need to render before export.
    Rendering is for playback.
If your project plays OK from the storyline, you can safely turn off rendering in preferences.

  • Does Final Cut Pro X Utilize Multiple GPUs if more than one is installed?

For example, does Final Cut Pro X utltize both GPU's to help in rendering if you went with the two ATI Radeon 5770 option in a Mac Pro? Thanks for any help!
    Dan

    - NO - kind of but not really - take a class - watch some basic videos on you tube...
    - YES - multicam is excellent
    - YES - you can switch it off - but you probably won't when you get used to it - after about 5 days
    - YES - very much so in the browser where it counts
    - YES... I think.
Really go watch some basic entry level FCP X vids - the answers are all there. I recommend watching the latest from 2014 on YouTube. There are plenty.

  • Does final cut pro work on Macbook air.

Does final cut pro work on Macbook air.
I know it works fine on my Macbook Pro, but considering getting an Air for travelling, and like to import and do some basic editing while away.
Used to have a Macbook, and FCP wouldn't load on that.
Understand the Air's limitations on disk size, but only wanting it as a travelling editor.
    Thanks

"Traveling editor" could imply dedicated offlining. Shane, do you think that could work with a low rez ProRes codec?
I don't think anyone has tried to use an AirBook for FCP. Anyone bother to search?

  • Does Final Cut Pro import 24 fps video?

    Hi,
I've been working with Final Cut Express for about a year, and am thinking about upgrading. I know that Final Cut Express does not import true 24 fps video, but am wondering if Final Cut Pro does. Also, does Final Cut Pro require more hardware power than FCE? (I currently have a dual core MacBook Pro with 4 gigs of ram. Will that suffice for FCP?)
    Thanks,
    Vic

Yes, FCP can handle 24 (or, more commonly, 23.98), and no, it doesn't require additional hardware (though certain apps inside the suite will certainly benefit from it).
