Does Find My Friends need to be installed to work?

Hey all,
I have a problem with something that happened Monday. My fiancee was in the hospital sunday night but went to work monday anyways, and her sister picked her up from our house and dropped her off from work. So she didnt have a car all day. She works at a main campus but there is another smaller campus about 15 minutes drive away. We were texting all morning and then at 10:45am she stopped texting. No problem. After 45 minutes I got conerned because she was in the hospital a few hours before. I texted her "are you OK?". Nothing. I called her. Nothing. Another 30 minutes go by and being so concerned, I login to Find My Friends and she pops up as being at this smallar campus. Let me make it clear, she has nothing to do with this other campus and has no need to be there.
After a total of 2 hours of no responses, she texts me back and tells me she was in a meeting at her boses office (which is in the same biulding and floor as her own building). Confused, I login to Find My Friends again and now I see her at the shuttle stop at the smaller location. I watch it as she appears to have gotten onto the company shuttle that takes workers from the main campus to the smaller campus. So it appears FMF was 100% accurate as it was stationary at the smaller campus for 45 minutes, then jumped to the shuttle stop and then I watched the shuttle drive to the main campus through the city.
Now, the only saving grace is that her mom also has an iPhone. However, sometimes her mom would be logged into her Apple ID account (but never her iCloud account). Her mom updated her iPhone about 6 days ago to iOS 5. She created an iCloud account and verified it, but never setup the iCloud section in her settings and never installed Find my Friends on her iPhone. Her mom does work at this smaller campus. So, my question is could her moms deivce have replaced my fiancees device for Find My Friends? Even though she never setup the iCloud settings on her phone and Find My Friends was not installed??
Thanks all for your help. This was an caring and innocent discovery that I cannot stop worrying about.

No, Find my friends would need to be installed, you change the device being followed from the find my friends settings. It could be either device being followed depending on the settings, not which was last logged in, you can choose any device to follow from any device, the chanes are then synced across all devices.

  • HT201493 Does Find My Friends need an internet connection?

or will it work on just a telephone connection.  I'm presuming that it needs to be able to access iCloud but can someone confirm that please, thanks

It will work with just a cellular signal too.

  • Does find my friends usa data of the people you are trying to find

does find my friends usa data of the people you are trying to find

The find my friends app uses the locations of the people you are trying to find. First you send them a request to be on your find my friensd and they must accept. Next their device must be on and connected to wifi.

  • Does Find My Friends notify friend when you set up a geofence alert on them?

If I selected to be notified when my friend leaves a location, do they also recieve any sort of notification or push that I set up the alert on them? Or when they leave the location?

Your questions are asking whether the person being located is being NOTIFIED. The answer depends on your definition what a notification is, but the short answer is NO.
The device being located does not display any notifications: banner, alert, badge or otherwise.
The device does not receive a text or iMessage alert.
When an app is using Location Services, a solid location services icon is diplayed next to the time at the top. This includes Find My Friends' attempts to provide the device's location to the service.
Please see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4487 and http://support.apple.com/kb/TS4008 for more information on Find My Friends and Troubleshooing Find My Friends.
*Solid location services icon is the small arrow icon. This is different from the outline of the arrow meaning an app will be triggered when a location or 'geofence' is entered or exited.

  • Why does Find My Friends keep going back to log-on screen in mid-use?

During use, Find My Friends quits and goes back to a log-on screen, which tells me I'm logged in, and tells me that I have passcode lock activated. The only way to get back into the app is to log in again. Then I use it for a few seconds and it goes back to that screen. Very frustrating.

    Hi Writ736!
As a step for basic troubleshooting, you may need to force quit the application and re-launch it to see if the behavior is affected:
iOS: Force an app to close

You may also want to try a simple reset on your phone, which is explained here:
Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset

Can I see location of a friend with a non iPhone phone!?

Kappa.. That seems not to be true
Cloud and find my friends work on all devices including iPod
Here is a quote fro apple site
"Comes with every new Apple device.
Every new iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch comes with iOS 5. And every new Mac comes with OS X Lion. Which means the new Apple devices you purchase are all ready for iCloud, right out of the box."

  • Does Find My Friends Require Push To Be On?

I know that Find My iPhone requires that Push be enabled on that device for it to be located. I tried turning it off because I actually don't want my emails pushed to my phone but then my phone/ipad showed as either location services disabled or device off line so I've had to keep push on for that. That's why I'm wondering if Find My Friends also requires that Push be on.

Find My Friends also requires that Push be on.
    No.

  • Why does 'Find My Friends' show arrival time based on PCT rather than GMT

Both my iPhone is set on GMT (British Summer Time) my Macbook Pro is set as GMT (British Summer Time) and the location I have arrived at is in the UK. Yet the 'Find My Friends' alert shows I arrived several hours before I did in fact the same time that it would have been on the West Coast of America.

I have never gotten this to even send me 1 email.   Sorry for the useless comment but I'd like to get notified on updates for this one.

  • Does "Find my phone" need Push?

I just tried "Find my phone" and it works fine but it appears that it will only work if Push is turned on. I don't use Push to save battery life. Does anyone know for sure if Push is required?
    gbs

Ok, played with it a little bit more. I was able to figure out that if I went to Settings>Mail, Contacts, Calendars>Fetch New Data>Advanced and set my Contacts, Calendars to Manual and Mail to Fetch and then went back and set Fetch to Hourly in the previous menu and shut off Push I could still locate my phone. I'll have to keep checking to see if this really continues to work or not but maybe it will conserve battery life a little more.

Yes, you need to install the Creative Cloud app first. It acts as your central hub for installation, sync and licensing.

  • Why does each Creator user need their own install?

Seems to break the Unix paradigm, install one copy of software and all the users can use that same set of executables.
Over 600MB per user is a little heavy, don't you think? That's before doing anything.

    Hi curmudge1,
The source of the issue is in the installation of our PE as we create the domain within the installation directory. This will cause problems when multiple users run Creator, as the Application Server cannot be modified by your users.
I believe there is an RFE filed on this. Several people have requested this in the past, so hopefully we'll have it fixed in the next release.
If this fix is integrated in a future release, you should be able to run multiple instances using a single installation directory with different user directories, etc.,

  • HT201493 How much data does find a friend use?

I can I gauge how much data I am using for its app

You would have to be running iOS 7 to do that.  If you were, you would go to Settings>Cellular, scroll to the bottom and tap "Reset Statistics", then use the app for a few days and to back to Settings>Cellular and it would show how much data that each app had used underneath the app name (in the "Use cellulare data for") section.

  • Does "Find my iPhone" need to be on all the time?

For it to track. Should I not "kill" the application in the multitask bar?

    repo1234 wrote:
How so? If I'm on facebook, for example and I kill the app on the "Recently Used" bar, I have to logon again. If I just hit the home button, it runs in the background, and when I open FB again, it logs in.
It's not running in background. It is asleep. When you launch it again iOS wakes it up and it continues from where it was put to sleep by pressing the Home button. If you remove it from the quick-launch bar (got that name? It's quite descriptive) it is awakened by iOS long enough to shut down. So when you next launch it the app must start from the beginning.
