Does Firefox 12.0 work with Norton Identity Safe?

I recently updated to Firefox 12.0 and wanted to take advantage of Norton offering for free their Identity Safe app. I am running Mac OSX 10.7.3 and when it took me to the mac app store, it uploaded the extension in my Firefox ribbon on the top, but when I click on it, it opens in Safari. Is it not compatible yet with Firefox?

After you run "Live Updates" from the PC Security Section contained in the Norton Security Suite, do the following:
'''1.''' Click on "'''Tools'''" ---
'''2.''' Click on "'''Add-ons'''" ---
'''3.''' Click on "'''Extensions'''" ---
'''4.''' Click on "'''''Enable'''''" to the right of the "'''''Norton Tool Bar 2011.7.7.5'''''" ---
'''5.''' Click on "'''''Enable'''''" to the right of the "'''''Symantec Intrusion Prevention 10.1.1.8-4'''''" ---- Then restart your system if needed.

  • Does current version (6)work with Norton identity safe?

I don't want to upgrade to version 6 if it does not work with Norton 360 identity safe. I know there was a problem with one of the earlier upgrades.

Norton IDS works with Firefox 7, which was released this morning. See Norton support for details.

  • Does Firefox 7.0 support Symantec (Norton) Identity Safe?

The Firefox 6.X does not support the Norton Identity Safe, does the new 7.0 support it? In order to keep using Firefox I reverted back to an earlier version - I use Identity Safe all of the time so it is absolutely needed.

A Norton compatibility patch for Firefox 7.0 is available as of 09-27-2011. <br />

Go to Tools|Options|Applications. The first 4 entries relate to Adobe. Make sure that the association is for your 9.1 version. If it's not, click the association that is showing. You will get a downward pointing triangle at the right. Click on it and see if 9.1 is listed. If so, select it. Do the same for the other Adobe items.
You might also want to check "Folder Options" in the Windows Control Panel. In the "File Types" tab you will find all of the file extensions and the programs they are associated with. Scroll down to the PDF extension and insure it's associated with an "Adobe Acrobat Document. If not, click on the <change> button and find adobe in the program list.
Just to let you know, Adobe Reader is now up to version 9.4. You can go to Adobe's website to download the latest.

  • Firefox 11 is screwing with Norton ID Safe on Paypal

With FF11 when I go to Paypal my Norton Internet Security's Identity Safe fills in my username (which is an email address) as it should. When I go to "Send Money" I have to fill in the email for the person the money is going to. I do this. Then I select "|Continue", which should get me a page asking me to verify the transaction. Instead, NIS ID Safe replaces the email for the person I want to send money to with MY email, and I get a Paypal notice saying I cannot send money to myself. When I go to Paypal using Internet Explorer, the ID Safe fills in the initial Paypal login info (my email and password), I log in and go to "Send Money", I fill in the payee's email, and when I select "Continue" that email IS NOT changed by the ID Safe and I DO get the "confirm transaction page". This problem with the ID safe changing the payee's email to my email is obviously endemic to Firefox, and is not a problem with either Norton's or Paypal's code.
As it was the ONLY thing I could do, I tried deleting cookies. As I suspected, that had absolutely no effect on the problem. I ALSO noticed that the "clear cache" option in Tools - Options has disappeared from FF11. Smart move, people.

Nope, the problem isn't in Firefox's password stuff, it's in Norton's Identity Safe, that's what's removing the payee's email and replacing it with my email when I try to submit a payment thru Paypal. I tried Norton support, and it turns out it was a waste of time. Although I was originally sure it culdn't be the browser, they insisted it wasn't Norton, and had me try IE instead of Firefox, and it worked OK, and uninstalling FFX 11, then cleaning out the registry to make sure noithing was left there, and installing FFX 9, everything worked OK then, too. So I gave in and agreed with them that it must be Firefox, specifically FFX 11. But then today I found FFX 9 had the same problem, and sao did IE. It sems that the first time a browser is used after install, there's no problem. But after that the Norton Identity Safe replaces email addresses with my own email address at Paypal as well as some other sites that have my email as my username. So the problem IS Norton's ID Safe, which was recently updated". The "improvements" have rendered it useless, at sites that need you to fill in an email someplace after you've already logged in, the ID Safe will overwrite the address you typed in with your oen email when you try to submit the page. I should have known better than to believe one of the idiots at a 3rd party "tech assistance" outfit in India. I did some more research today and discovered that others are having the same problem with the ID Safe, some of them using Norton Internet Security and some using Norton 360, both of which have the ID Safe.he only way to0 fix things is to go back to the ID Safe version 5, which I can only do by going back to Norton Internet security 2011. Which I also can't do. To go "backwards with NIS, you have to uninstall the one you have and reinstall the older one. Luckily, I do have the setup files for NIS 2011 (which can't be gotten from Norton now), but..... If you want to keep all your usernames and passwords, you have to save them into a separate file, then reload them when you've installed the version of NI you want to use. And Norton has made THAT impossible. NIS 2012 saves the info in a .dat file, and NISs 2011 uses a .npm file. And, of course, NIS 2011 cannot read or even recognize a .dat file. So even saving the file FROM NIS 2012 onto the desktop before uninstalling it, and then placing that file manually in the right folder after installing NIS 2011 doesn't work. WHY do we pay people like this so much money just to let them screw things up and then provide "tech assistance" by people who don't even understand what you tell them half of the time, even if they DID pass some English language exam? Hell, I once passed a linguist exam that got me an official linguist classification in the Army, and my German language ability was about what a typical 9 or 10 year old German kid would have. Less than that, actually, where proper grammar was concerned. It's not as hard to pass a language exam as it is to actually do anything useful using that language. Oh, yeah, when I called Norton back today (actually yesterday, now) and demanded to talk to the next level of support the guy
"transferred" my call to that section. I'll admit they have better "hold" music than just about any I've ever run into, but after being on hold for OVER 2 and a half hours I finally hung up. And I'm paying these A..holes $89.99 a year for their wonderful service. My recommendation: If you have ANY other reasonable option, DO NOT use Norton software, if you already have it look for a replacement and buy that instead when it's time to renew the Norton subscription.

  • What Firefox versions are compatible with Norton Identy Safe

Norton "Identity Safe" functions with Firefox version 3.6.20 with Windows. Last report was Identity Safe will not function with newer versions of Firefox.

Norton has actually tried to get a update patch out for Firefox 5.0 back on Tuesday (versus taking some six weeks) when Firefox 5.0 was released. However I think some say the toolbar may not work if patch was installed before Firefox 5.0 and not after.

  • Would like to get an alert for Firefox 6.0 compatibility with Norton Identiy Safe add-on before install

I am aware that vs. 6.0 is incompatible with the Norton Identity Safe add-on (as it has been on the previous update when I found out only after I updated, grrrrr). Thank you for the heads up this time so I didn't automatically hit that button. Can you inform me when this problem is resolved so I quit getting those install pop-ups every hour or so? I really don't want have to use Chrome or Opera in the meantime like I did last time because this is becoming extremely annoying!

Funny, in the notes for the install it said specifically that Norton Identity Safe was NOT compatible at the time of release.

  • Before I updated to Firefox 4 I had my Norton Identity Safe on top of my toolbar for easy access and now it's gone. How do I get it back?

I can't get my Norton Identity Safe Toolbar to shows up .

Maybe extension are broken? Norton community can assist you further.:)

  • Does Firefox password manager work with Yubikey?

I'm considering using a Yubikey and need to know will it work with Firefox browser and password manager.

What do you mean "will it work with?" In what way? Do you want to use it as the master password, do you want to use it for two-factor, do you want to save keys and then use them later? What are you asking?

  • My Firefox don´ t work with Norton 360. I can`t see the toolbar!!

I ´ve installed Firefox 4 . Now i Miss the Norton Toolbar from Norton 360. I`m afraid that Norton 360 don`t save me!!!

Symantec need to update their Firefox add-ons so that they are compatible with Firefox 4. They have indicated that for Norton 360 they plan to release an update to Norton 360 to support Firefox 4 in early May - http://us.norton.com/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_type=public_web&docurl=20100720113635EN&ln=en_US
The core functionality such as antivirus and firewall will still work, it is the add-ons that will no longer work. If you want to use the Norton add-ons you will need to downgrade to Firefox 3.6.
To downgrade to Firefox 3.6 first uninstall Firefox 4, but do not select the option to "Remove my Firefox personal data". If you select that option it will delete your bookmarks, passwords and other user data.
You can then install the latest version of Firefox 3.6 available from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html - it will automatically use your current bookmarks, passwords etc.
To avoid possible problems with downgrading, I recommend going to your profile folder and deleting the following files if they exist - extensions.cache, extensions.rdf, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite and localstore.rdf. Deleting these files will force Firefox to rebuild the list of installed extensions, checking their compatibility, and reset toolbar customizations.
For details of how to find your profile folder see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Profiles

  • Why does Firefox no longer work with Slate or AIM?

    1. On Slate.com I allow all scripts to run; however, even though most links on the pages work, I can no longer view comments in articles -- the function to open the comments simply does not work.
    2. When I load the standalone desktop AIM program, until Firefox 37 I was able to click the mail icon and go directly to my AOL mail; this no longer works, but instead logs me out of AOL and I have to log in again.
I don't know if these are related, but both appeared when I allowed an upgrade to version 37.

  • Firefox will not work with norton security suite... when is the fix going to be available?

since upgrading to firefox 5.0 I have not been able to use norton security suite....
I was told that it would be upgraded to work in a couple months.... It has been more that that...
Are you ever going to have a fix for this????

Firefox 5.0 was released 4 weeks ago tomorrow, not a "couple of months ago".
I have heard that Norton released an update patch for Firefox 5.0 on Tuesday 06-21 when Firefox 5.0 was released. ''(versus taking their normal six to eight weeks)'' Some Norton users have reported that the toolbar may not work if the Norton patch was installed before Firefox 5.0, instead if after Firefox 5.0 was already installed.

  • When will you have a fix so Norton Identity Safe will work?

Firefox upgraded today and now Norton Identity Safe (Norton toolbar) no longer works. I have spent several hours moving bookmarks to I.E., because Norton works there. I prefer Firefox, oh well, "Que sera, sera".

hello kirtbell, according to norton the toolbar is already compatible with firefox versions including the current release version. please run the norton liveupdate utility repeatedly & until all components are up-to-date. in addition make sure that the toolbar is enabled under ''firefox > addons > extension'' afterwards.
