Does FireFox 4 have a traditional menu bar (File, Edit, etc)?

I was looking at the screenshot on the opening page about FF4 and it looks distressingly similar to Chrome and Opera. Does FF4 have the traditional controls available as an option? Call me old-fashioned, but I hate these new browser designs. I want a normal menu bar and tool bar.

@joeya19 - Joey understand that this isn't meant maliciously, but the world is not about *you*. That *you* don't see a need for it, doesn't mean that the OP isn't without merit for wanting it, nor that their personal tastes are any less than yours.
I'm with the O.P. on this.. I prefer having my standard File-Help menu layout. They've been with us since before windows was windows, and only in recent years has there been this big push to get rid of menuing systems as if they were the plague ... the problem will come, when people are frustrated by not having several quick drop down "menus" to get access to a few things they want, and want easier access too, than a "one for all" button. Its the single biggest reason I won't use Chrome ... that G.D. "cog" thing ... having to click it, then click a sub menu and then getting to click the option I wanted.. very aggrivating when before it would be two clicks max, or an ALT+Keystroke to open that menu, and so forth...

    Hi Ernestprinter,
Check if you have multiple Java versions installed on your computer.
    Try clean boot http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135
Also i would suggest uninstall security software and install it back.
Currently you may use F9 key to restore Menu bar.

  • My macbook pro does not have an itunes menu bar

i need to authorize my MacBook Pro but it doesn't have an iTunes menu bar, what can i do??????

    Hi veriveri!
Here is an article that will help you authorize your computer for iTunes purchases:
iTunes Store: Authorize or deauthorize your Mac or PC
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1420
To authorize a computer, follow these steps:
    Open iTunes.
Choose Store > Authorize This Computer from the menu bar.
You may need to show the menu bar to see this option in Windows. In earlier versions of iTunes, you can access this option from the Advanced menu.
Thanks for being a part of the Apple Support Communities!

  • Why does Firefox jump to the menu bar when I type single letters - b, f, e, t...

The letters are acting as shortcuts to the menubar making it impossible to type in google search or other fields.

Alt does not appear to be stuck. I am back to 3.6 now and it is working fine. But when I hold down the alt key and press b or t etc.. it goes to the menu bar in the same way it would before. So perhaps that had something to do with it. Firefox 3.6 is working much better - including no flash update bs on youtube. Thank you.

  • I have lost my toolbar for file, edit, etc. and I have also lost the toolbar for the internet address. How do I retrieve these?

I lost the file, edit toolbar when I tried to retrieve my active bookmark tabs toolbar. Last night I needed to print an airlines boarding pass and naturally I was very annoyed. While trying once again to find the toolbar, the internet address bar disappeared. Please help.

Firefox 3.6+ versions have a feature to allow the user to hide the Menu bar.
Hit the '''Alt''' key to temporarily show the Menu bar, then open View > Toolbars and select Menu bar, so it has a check-mark. <br />
The F10 can also be used on most PC's to temporarily reveal the Menu bar.

    newbie Thanks

    thanks JIM

    You are welcome,
Yes it is an apple "trade mark" since early Mac OS, at least that what I obbserved since I start to follow Mac from OS 6.x.x.
Here is link to understand better if you want to know more:
    http://developer.apple.com/documentation/UserExperience/Conceptual/OSXHIGuidelin es/XHIGMenus/chapter16_section4.html
It actually for developer that want to create application for Mac, but it explain the basic rule of menu bar.
Thank you for the star and peace out.

  • How do I change background color on menu bar (file, edit,...) so I can see the items?

Current background is dark gray and print is black which makes it almost impossible to read the menu.

You can revert to the Default theme (Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
See [[Using themes with Firefox]] and http://kb.mozillazine.org/Themes (Lightweight theme)

  • I updated to Firefox 4 and there's no orange Firefox button and the Menu Bar is still there (File, Edit, View, etc.). Can anyone tell me why this is happening?

As the question states, I tried updating from Firefox 3 to Firefox 4 two different ways and though I see a difference, it's definitely not all of Firefox 4. I updated with the auto update installer and downloaded the exe and installed and it's still not right. I don't have the new Firefox style or the Infamous Orange Firefox button. My Menu Bar (File, Edit, View, Etc...) is still there as well. The only thing that has really changed is the tabs going above the URL bar. Can anyone tell me how to fix this?

To get the new style UI you need to hide the menu bar. To do that in the View menu select Toolbars, then click on the "Menu Bar" entry.
If you need access to the menus you can press either Alt or F10 to temporarily display them.

Downloaded Mozbackup & backed up all bookmarks, extensions, passwords (not settings)
Uninstalled Firefox completely (Using REVO Uninstaller)
    Reboot
    Re-install Firefox
    ...Ran MozBackup & restored profile
    Woo HOO !!
The problem was an add on: Hide Caption Titlebar Plus
Once I uninstalled that - the menu returned

  • Google Chrome has Incognito, does Firefox have a similar software?

Web pages that are opened and files downloaded while in "Incognito" mode aren't recorded in browsing and download histories. All cookies are deleted after Incognito windows are closed.
    Does Firefox have anything similar?

    Yes,
If you look at the top right of the browser next to the search bar click on the Firefox Menu (the symbol with 3 grey lines) and then click 'new private window' a new window will then appear with a purple mask (I've attached an Image below)
Or another way is to press (CTRL + SHIFT + P)
(My OS is Linux and may be different)
