  • NLS_LANG value that suits Forms 10G and Database 11G wanted !

    I can't believe how bad is to install Oracle Database and Oracle Forms on the same Windows Vista machine!
    I had a problem in Oracle Forms 10g that prevents many items in the Form Builder menu from appearing in English Language and also prevents anything in the web-based forms runtime from appearing in English. I searched the forum for a solution and found that I have to set a NLS_LANG value in the environment variables equal to the following: AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8MSWIN1256.
    I did this and my Forms builder looked great. Everything in english with no problems. But now what ?! The Oracle Database itself refused to connect from all clients! It refused to connect from Forms Builder, SQL Deeveloper, and even from SQL PLUS! The error given is: ORA-12705: Cannot access NLS data files or invalid environment specified.
    It seems that what I exactly need is a NLS_LANG value that will satisfy both Oracle Forms 10G and Oracle Database 11G that both are installed on the same Vista machine. The question is: What could this NLS_LANG value be?!
    Thank you in advance

    If you have connected to the database on which the form is based, prior to running the form from the Builder, the uname and password will automatically be passed in at startup and you will not be prompted.
    If you would rather hard code a username and password, enter it in formsweb.cfg. For example:
    SYNTAX:
    userid=<USERNAME>/<PASSWORD>@<DB NAME>
    EXAMPLE:
    userid=scott/tiger@orcl
    Remember that this change will only impact runtime and have no effect on the Builder.

  • Mac plugin - what versions to support?

    Hi,
    We are making a photography related Photshop plugin (www.proxel.se) that currently runs on Windows only. Now we have started to port it to Mac. The problem is that Code Warrior is terminated (due to the switch to Intel) and the only development environment is gcc based - and the gcc based environment only supports CS2 and forward.
    Is it reasonable to make a Mac plugin CS2 only?
    It is going to be OS-X only. And the two other OS-X versions are 7 and CS.

    Basic idea:
    Load MachO bundle from PEF code and call bundle-entry point with parameters from glue-entry point.
    Don't forget to wrap photoshop callbacks in FilterRecord via CFM<->MachO glue fragment

  • Can I view video in analog form from Audition? and if so what version?

    I am using Pro 1.5 and Audition 1.5 and I would like to use the multitrack audio out along with the (analog) video output to a projector. I can't see it in Audition and from reading I thought there might be a way to link PRO and AUD to get it done. Is there a way?

    Well, you've found all I was hoping for you and better.  Those upstarts over at Reaper...  so much less programming overhead (and probably no free time either!).  Hopefully Adobe will "catch up" someday, but one thing Reaper can't do is offer inter-program compatability between Premiere, Audition, etc.  That's the sort of features that slow down direct-to-monitor previews but strenthen the larger picture.
    Anyway, glad you found that and good success to you.

  • MS Word smart quotes don't paste the same into Forms 10g as Forms 6i

    Hi all,
    I have users who write text in Microsoft Word and then cut-and-paste it into Oracle Forms.
    After some prodding by the developers, the users have switched to using the 10G version of their application instead of the 6i version.
    As a background you should know that Microsoft Word uses Smart Quotes by default, which you can turn off. Smart Quotes are different ascii characters than the ascii 39 single quote and ascii 34 double quote.
    When the users cut-and-paste the Microsoft Word text into the Forms 10G field, the single apostrophe smart quote does not convert to ascii 39. I wouldn't be surprised about this except that in Forms 6i the form does convert the single apostrophe smart quote into ascii 39.
    So if the users use the 6i Form they can cut-and-paste and the form/database has the character as ascii 39. If the users paste into Forms 10G then the database shows the character as ascii 191 (hex 0xBF), which is an inverted question mark.
    Does anyone know of any settings in Forms 10g to revert back to 6i functionality for this?
    Thanks much,
    Troy

    I am afraid that Jan is right.
    And this might be a bit of a hassle, since it might affect your forms. If you are using some standard Windows lettertype in your forms, though, you should be OK.
    Bare in mind, that you the NLS_LANG.characterset will have to be compatible between database and forms (the latter at both compiletime and runtime).
    Good Luck!

  • How Connect Oracle Forms 6 With Database 11g R2

    Hello every one:
    I'm Have application made by Forms 6 and Oracle 10g, now i'm make upgrade to my DB to 11G
    but have problem when make connection between Forms 6 and 11g
    ORA-02248: invalid option for ALTER SESSION
    pls help me !!
    Thnx

    Oracle Forms 6i is not certified with Oracle RDBMS 11g and the last I read - there was no plans to certify Forms 6i with RDBMS 11g. If you search the Forums you can find some workarounds to make Forms 6i work with RDBMS 11g, but these are not Oracle Supported workarounds.
    Your only real options are to leave things as they are or upgrade both your Forms application and the database. If you opt to upgrade your Forms application, you need to upgrade your Forms application to at least Forms 10g R2 (10.1.2.0.2) to be supported.

  • Upgrading from Forms 6i to Forms 10g

    Does Forms 10g support direct upgradation from 6i to 10g version or have to go step wise from 6i to 9i and 9i to 10g. Also suggest ways of handling the run time errors arising. Does Oracle provide some patches to facilitate a smooth transition fromo 6i to 10g.

    Thanx Grant,
    Can you also suggest as to what complications can arise as many built-ins in 6i have been discarded in 10g. Does the pathes available take in most part of the work in upgradation. I have around 1000 forms in 6i on a complex finance & insurance sectar. Will be pleased if you can suggest the best way of migration.
    As suggested the bath mode will be the likely option as individually compiling each .FMB would be combursome.
    Are there some specific de-bugging tools available.

  • Is it possible in forms 10g.

    Hello All Gurus,
    I have a question in forms 10g and database 11g.
    Is it possible to know how the user is navigating between the forms by mouse. For example in a form I have 3 blocks. According to the objects Navigator block1, block2 and block3 are the sequence for the blocks. Also in the layout editor it is synchronized with the object navigator.
    Same the items in the block. My question is if I am in the item1 of block 1 and clicking in the item5 of block 1 then here I am moving forward and if I am in the item 5 of block 1 then click in the item 3 of block 1 then I an moving backward by mouse. Is it possible to know in forms?
    Regards
    SUN

    Let's say you have 5 Blocks named block1 to block5.
    In this five blocks you have 5 Items named item1 to item5
    when moving from block1 to block3 it's foreward; otherway it's backward. (same with the items)
    So in the when-mouse-click trigger:
    check, if the current block is the same as before.
    If so, check if the current item is higher then the last item (substring the itemnames).
    if substr(:global.previous_triggeritem, -1, 1) > substr(:system.trigger_item, -1, 1) then
      moving_backward;
    elsif substr(:global.previous_triggeritem, -1, 1) < substr(:system.trigger_item, -1, 1) then
      moving_foreward;
    else
      position_not_changed;
    end if;If the last block is another then the actual block do the same with the blocknames as you have done with the item names.

  • Storing an Excel File in the Oracle Table through Oracle Form (10g)

    Hi,
    We have the below requirement in the Oracle Forms (10g).
    Database: 11g
    Application: R12
    We need to provide an upload functionality to the user, so that he can upload an excel file into the form (from the local system), this is achived.
    Now what we need to do is that we need to capture the path of the document (in the local system) and we need to store the document in a Oracle table.
    Next we need to validate the records that are being loaded and the error records should be written into one more file and that file also we need to store in an Oracle table, this is because, i need to query this error file from the table later and need to send to the user as an e-mail.
    Basically i started off with the below code just for the POC. but iam facing the error. Please help. I did not put this code in my form.
    Create Table Email_Attachments(Id_Pk Integer Primary Key,Fname Varchar2(50),Image Blob);
    Create Or Replace Directory Temp As 'C:\';
    Create Or Replace Procedure Load_File(Pi_Id In Integer, Pfname In Varchar2) Is
    Src_File Bfile;
    Dst_File Blob;
    Lgh_File Binary_Integer;
    Begin
    Src_File := Bfilename('TEMP', Pfname);
    Insert Into Email_Attachments (Id_Pk,Fname,Image)
    Values (Pi_Id,Pfname, Empty_Blob())
    Returning Image Into Dst_File;
    Dbms_Lob.Open(Src_File, Dbms_Lob.File_Readonly);
    Lgh_File := Dbms_Lob.Getlength(Src_File);
    Dbms_Lob.Loadfromfile(Dst_File, Src_File, Lgh_File);
    Dbms_Lob.Close(Src_File);
    Commit;
    End;
    begin
    Load_File(1,'test.txt');
    end;

    ORA-06512: at "SYS.LOAD_FILE", line 10
    ORA-06512: at line 2
    How to capture the Path from which he has loaded the file?
    How to Write the error records it to the file and store it in an Oracle table?
    Will the below table be of use to me?
    fnd_lobs_document
    fnd_lobs
    fnd_documents
    Please share your ideas as to how to acheive this.
    Thanks and Regards
    Srinivas

    When you want to process the file, them it depends on the format. "Excel file" is a term that is used for a variety of file formats, mostly simple CSV, binary (true) XLS and XLSX.
    So to get help you have to give us more information. Since the file is already in the db you might get better answers at {forum:id=75}. The forum has a FAQ that has a whole section {message:id=9360007}.

  • Forms 10G equivalent of FORMS60_PATH

    Hi:
    In Forms 6i C/S we can put things like pll's, object libraries etc... in the FORMS60 path in the registry which is one of the places that forms looks when a form that has such modules attached to it, is run.
    I have specified my menu module in the form module property, but it cannot find it when I run the form.
    Does forms 10g have a similar location ? If so what is it ?
    I also need to customise my icons where does it look for icons in 10g ? UI_ICON Registry setting ? like 6i ?
    Any advice would be appreciated.
    Thanks,
    N.

    In Forms 9i and 10g this is called FORMS90_PATH.
    You should set this environment variable in the default.env file or your own (application specific) .env file.
    You can also set the WorkingDirectory variable (in Formsweb.cfg) to point to your directory with executables (WorkingDirectory has priority over FORMS90_PATH)
