Does Garageband add compression when it mixes down?

I was wondering if, when you've finished your recordings and you export to an .aiff file Garageband does any default peak-level compressing (or indeed low-volume-level upping) as part of the overall process?
I've never noticed any in terms of the difference in sound between a song in Garageband prior to mixdown, and the same song playing in .aiff format in iTunes. But I thought I'd better check, as I'm going to get some recordings of mine professionally mastered, so I want the overall mix as untampered with compression-wise as possible.

In the past, and still in the present, you can mount a VHD[X] file directly in Windows, if you have the required version. By "required version", I mean that Windows 7/Windows Server 2008 R2 won't mount a VHDX file, but they will mount a VHD file.
It's a right-click option in Windows Explorer or with the
Mount-VHD PowerShell cmdlet or under Action -> Attach VHD
in the Disk Management MMC console or with the ATTACH VDISK command in DISKPART.
Once the VHD[X] file is mounted, you can copy files to/from it just like any other disk. Once you're done, you can dismount it and turn its owning VM back on.
In case it's not obvious, this is a potentially dangerous operation.

I am having problems with Firefox. When I click on the shortcut, or the .exe file nothing happens. I check task manager to see if it is running and it does not show Firefox is running.

IMac does not power off when I shut down

I have an iMac with 10.7 as the operating system. When I power down the machine the screen goes gray and just stays in the gray mode until I hold the power key down manually. It starts up normally, just a "shut down" issue. I recently upgraded from 10.6 to 10.7 and had the same problem with 10.6 (not sure that means anything.) I am pretty sure this is not a good way to shut down a Mac. Any ideas on what might be going on here? Thanks.

Why does Flash add points when I "Undo"?

I converted a bitmap to vector. I am removing all the useless extra points which get created in that process. Occasionally I will mis-click and end up moving or deleting a shape. When that happens I want to use "undo". But ctrl-z and undo from the menu do not simply undo the last action. It also goes and adds useless extra points all over the place. Why? Is there a way to make it quit doing that? It looks to me like it is a very bad bug.

Has anyone else even seen this?
1) Import a graphic.
2) Do Modify > Bitmap > Trace Bitmap
3) Remove some of the extra points
4) Press ctrl-z OR do Edit > Undo Undefined
5) RESULT: the last action is undone, but several more extra points are added at various places in the graphic
Please let me know if it happens or not.

Slave does not automatically authenticate when master is down

We are running MFA in a dual server master-slave configuration. When the master MFA server is down the slave does not automatically take over. You have to open the GUI and promote the slave server to master to get it working again. I expected the slave to
authenticate without administrator intervention. Is this by design? We are running latest version 6.3.1.1.

someone mentions the same problem. The reply goes as follows:
"Regardless of the UI, if an authentication request is sent to the slave, it will process it"
If the master server is offline, it does not.
it is also mentioned that

thanks for your reply! I had already dug through the link you gave me. For your information: we are using MFA to secure a sharepoint site via IIS. I understand about the 'no updates without the master' thing but in the link it is also said:
"A slave can process authentication whether the master is up or not"
It can, but you have to promote it to master manually. It does not process authentication requests from remote users on its own.
"The slave will only do work when the master is offline"
What work? It appears to not include authentication request from remote users. At least, not automatically. You have to promote it to master first.
Finally, it is being said:
"The on-premises Azure MFA Servers don’t do any kind of failover on its own"
So, if I am understanding this right you WILL HAVE to promote the slave server to master manually when the master is offline. I am wondering if I can use the MFA API to write a custom script which checks if the master server is offline or not and promote
to master if needed. If so, I would expect this functionality to be already there with MFA itself. What's the purpose of an MFA cluster if it requires manual user intervention for failover?
Edit: I am now looking into the powershell module obtainable at http://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/downloads/ but
none of the commandlets seem to support managing the multi factor auth providers via powershell.
Also, the Azure AD module obtainable at https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/azure/jj151815.aspx seems to be focused at user administration and no support
for Multi-Factor Auth providers.
Also, the command line tool obtainable athttp://azure.microsoft.com/en-us/documentation/articles/xplat-cli/ also does not seem to have support for managing multi factor auth providers.

Startling error messages when trying to bounce my final mixes down.

Friends, Im nervous about this one as I've logged in 100+ hours and dropped a little bit of $ for off-site recording.
When Im ready to "send songs to disk", an error message pops up saying "GarageBand found 2 audio files in 8-bit format" "This format is unsupported and can not be played back" with an OK" option. After pressing OK, it proceeds to mix down but saves nowehere on my comp (or drive).
After restarting and trying to reopen the session, Im given this error message: "This file type is not supported and gives me the truly horrible option of "abort". Then it gives me the error message again.
It then gives me the original error message once more: "GarageBand found 2 audio files in 8-bit format" "This format is unsupported and can not be played back" with an OK" option. After I press it, it gives me that same message again for good measure and now the session is up.
But I cant save it and I cant send a mix anywhere. So Im pretty screwed?
We did a little off-site recording and imported those files Sunday, but Ive been working on it for a few days before these glitches came through.

So I went to the contents of the file and took the problem files out.
It immediatley pops up a error saying that a track was not found. "Audio File "guiro.wav" not found"
Obviously, since the track for guiro is still there.
But as I tried to move on, I still got a ""GarageBand found 1 audio file in 8-bit format" before I could get to the session and start deleting them.
As I began doing just that, that same ol' error message popped up fpr every move and then when I finished, it still wouldnt save anything saying..."The document 'SongFour.band' could not be saved.

Mixing Down Analog Tape mixes to Garageband

Just wondering if anyone has tried to mix down songs from analog tape (4-tracks, reel to reels, etc.) to Garageband. I've been trying to do this but for some reason after saving as an MP3, the mix sounds overly compressed, dull, and quiet. I am not using the compression in Garageband. I'm just plugging into the line in from my eight track and mixing down. If any on out there has any tips on this I'd greatly appreciate it.

Make sure normalize is not checked in GB and you're happy with the levels.
Then, try sharing it to your desktop (and when you share it make sure it's shared at CD quality sound). Then open it up in QT. If you do share it to iTunes, make sure your iTunes preference settings are not impacting the sound at all (e.g you don't want the enhancer or anything like that).

Three basic steps to get you started:
You set the tempo and Rhythm when creating your project:
Launch GarageBand and and select "New Project" from the panel: Pick a suitable template, for example "Song Writing":
Then, in the next panel that opens "New Project from Template" select a folder and a name to store the project and set the basic parameters: Song key, tempo, signature; for example for a song in C-major, 4/4, 100 beats per minute set it like this.
If you later want to speed up the song or slow it down, use the LED display at the bottom of the window. Click on the leftmost icon to change it to show the metronom for "Project View" like this. Then you can change the basic settings:

What does the "add more sounds" in app purchase cost in GarageBand?

I ask because there is no indication of the cost when Apple asks for my ID and Password. In IOS completing that would mean I own it.

Yes, I have set my options to "show windows and tabs from last time".
No, I did not check "clear memory on shut down" or "start private session"
Also, it saves my tabs when I restart the browser, but when I shut down my computer and start up again, Firefox does not show my tabs from last time. The same thing happens with sites I've logged onto before; it logs me out after I shut down my computer.

Did you check the "Clear Recent History" settings to be sure cthat you do not clear the Browser history and the cookies?

Error message when mixing down audio

Hi gang
I occasionally get an error message when mixing down audio on a FCP 5.1.4 project. Message sez: File error: the specified is open and in use by this or another application.
I've never seen this before. No other applications are open at the time this message comes up.

If the center portion of the monitor is flickering then your GPU on the logic is bad or (unlikely given this symptom) that your monitor cable is pinched/damaged.

Here's something I found out in the meantime, maybe this is interesting for somebody or maybe - problem's not totally solved - enough info for any of you to give me further advice.
When I start Logic Core Audio driver de-activated, I can open old songs. Then I save them in a new folder with all audio files and a new name. And I remove all EXS24 instruments as well as the Space Designer. I quit Logic, re-open with Core Audio activated and I can open the song.
Problem no.1: EXS24 instruments don't find the appropriate samples, but EXSMananger Pro did help me with this. Same problem with Space Designer, which doesn't find the impulse responses, connected to a certain preset.
Two questions, every idea would be great!
- Is there any way to teach Space Designer Presets where to look for impulse respones. I can load IR samples directly and create a new preset, but I can't use my old ones.
- Is it possible to install Logic from scratch over an existing version? Or how should I de-install everything connected with Logic and then install a fresh version from CD?
