Does GPS use the internet data connection?

Hi everyone,
I'll be using a German iPhone while traveling all over the world. The data connection is free within Germany (in other words, flat-rate internet) but quite expensive out of the country, 49 euro cents per 50kb block when I'm in the US, for example... I was hoping to use the GPS/map function a lot, but I'm afraid this will be expensive...
Does the GPS/map function actually use the internet connection, for which I'll be charged per 50kb block?
Or is GPS a separate kind of connection?
I was hoping to just casually surf the web while traveling on trains across the globe, but I guess that would be a very expensive pastime...

There is no charge for accessing GPS, but maps data is not stored locally on the iPhone. When using the Maps application, all maps data is downloaded from the internet - via an available wi-fi network you have access to, or via the cellular network. You can access GPS alone without a wi-fi or cellular connection, but it won't do you much good without any maps data.

I have a MDB in which I have created a EntityManager and began a transaction. I have passed this entity manager to all my DAO's via a standard setter method. Now I am wondering if this entity manager uses the same connection all the time until it's commited?

I am injecting the entitymanager into my MDB but it's throwing the JTATransaction required when I am trying to execute any native query? So I have removed the injection and created through the entitymanager factory. Now I am wondering whether it will use the same connection object during one transaction?
Here is the code which is throwing the JTATransaction required exception...

Can I stream music internally through my Apple TV. At the moment, as it uses the internet to connect, my broadband usage is costing me money.Thanks for any ideas! Richard

Is there a way that I can stream the muic in my i-tunes through my Apple TV without the TV accessing the internet? It is costing mt money to play my own tunes, as my broadband allowance is not that high.
I don't mind paying for films, but not for my own music.

Apple TV requires an active Internet connection in order to stream protected content via AirPlay

Can you be on a call and use the internet/data with 4g LTE?

I am not currently in a 4g area so I can't test this out and answer my own question. But with the LTE network can we be on a call and do other things now?

I used the internet data recovery because my mac is stuck with the grey screen + apple logo at startup. When I tried to reinstall the OS, it prompted: you can't upgrade to this newer version of mac os x is installed. What do I do? x

I have no backup of my files because my mac suddenly stopped working.

We have an issue while customizing list using Info-path, we are configured a data connection inside the info-path the connects to SQL and it works fine.
then we decided to migrate it to another site under another web application on the same server, but it does not work, it fires an error as below:
A query to retrieve form data cannot be completed because this action would violate cross-domain restrictions.
If this form template is published to a SharePoint document library, cross-domain access for user form templates must be enabled under InfoPath Forms Services in SharePoint Central Administration, and the data connection settings must be stored in a
UDC file in a data connection library in the same site collection.
If this is an administrator-approved form template, the security level of the form must be set to full trust, or the data connection settings must be stored in a UDC file by using the Manage data connection files option under InfoPath Forms Services
in SharePoint Central Administration.
An entry has been added to the Windows event log of the server.

Under General Applications in Central Admin, go to the InfoPath Settings and Configure InfoPath to allow cross domain connections.

Contact your cell phone provider, that is a carrier feature.

Sounds like a hardware failure.
Make an appointment at the genius bar and take it in for them to look at. It will probably need to be replaced.

Does the iOS device connect to other networks? If yes that tend to indicate a problem with your network.
Does the iOS device see the network?
Any error messages?
Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Power off and then back on your router

- iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections

Yes tried resetting the wifi connection and problem still persist.
Here it is...to make it clear. Connected thru the same wifi at home...
-> emails (yahoo/gmail) and facebook WEBSITES are working fine and fast when using/accessing thru a browser (chrome/samsung browser) - no problem with this.
-> emails (yahoo/gmail) and facebook APP is soooooo sloooww (thru the App). Slow I mean comparing it to using their browser/websites... news feeds/emails refreshing so quickly but not when using the APP installed in Samsung Galaxy Note 4. Slow like - It will take around 5-10minutes just to get your emails and news feed refreshed.
THIS HAPPENS ONLY WHEN CONNECTED THRU A WIFI which has a speed of 10-20mb. It is not happening when connected to the network data/plan.
My wife has the same Samsung Galaxy Note 4 (coming from different provider at&t) - same setup (emails, fb app), same wifi connection, but she's not experiencing anything like it.
Not sure why, I dont want to believe that while connected to a WIFI, Verizon is restricting anything and ******* me off to make me switch to my data plan connection everytime - which is Unfair!
Was there a known issue similar about this case?

IPhone shuts off when I use the internet on the 3G network & I can't upgrade/restore because of network connection error. Any Help?

A few months ago, while on the 3G network, my iPhone 3GS starting turning off randomly when I was using safari or an online app and the battery was somewhere around 5-20%. When this happened the only way to get the phone back on was by fully charging it which sometimes took a few hours even. It wasn't a big deal at the time because it was infrequent and while the phone was at a low battery %. However, in the past few months, around the time I upgraded to iOS 5.1 it started happened more and more often and at higher and higher battery percentages. It is now at a point where my phone shuts off every time I connect to the 3G network regardless of what my battery life is. I have called Rogers several times to complain about this and I have been told it is because of the battery for the most part but I don’t buy it; the problem has got to be more significant than the battery alone because I can listen to music and send texts at anytime and fully use the internet when I am connected to Wi-Fi. I more recently talked to someone in tech support from Rogers who said my phone cannot support the iOS 5.1 software and that is why it is crashing. They also asked if my phone was heating up more now than in the past and it is. They said this was further evidence that my phone was couldn't handle the new software and was basically on overload. I was told to the best solution was to "Back Up" my iPhone then do a full "Restore". Here is where my next problem comes along. I cannot "Restore" my iPhone without doing an upgrade and every time I attempt to "Upgrade & Restore" an error message pops up that says "There was a problem downloading the software for the iPhone "...". The network connection timed out/was reset. -Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, or try again later". I have followed all of the protocol that is readily available online to address this problem but still no success. I disabled my firewall and anti-virus programs, I have ensured my connection is active and stable, I have upgraded to the newest iTunes, I have uninstalled iTunes and all apple programs in the correct order then reinstalled iTunes, I have disabled my DNS cache. Nothing works.
If you have any advise whatsoever please share as it would be greatly appreciated.

I was actually able to upgrade to the newest software, iOS 5.1.1 without connecting to my computer/iTunes but rather directly through my phone when I was home on Wi-Fi. After the upgrade I plugged my phone into a different USB port at the back of my computer and was able to do a full restore. I really don't think the USB port had anything to do with it because I use the same front USB port all the time with my external hard drive and other devices wuth no problems at all; regardless of what the actual solution was, I am now able to connect to iTunes and upgrade/restore without any problems so that half of my problem is resolved.
I have yet to leave my house since doing the upgrade/restore so I am not sure if the problem with my phone crashing when I use the interent on the 3G is still an issue. I will test it today and tomorrow and give you an update.

I updated my LG G3 this week and now it SUCKS! When I'm connected to WIFI, nothing on Facebook works. The photos and videos won't populate. I have to turn off the WIFI and only use the mobile data. Not to mention, I really hate the way it looks now.

I have never done this myself, however I know you can use some computer as the WiFi hotspots. Macs do, and some PCs do.
There is not a way to physically connect the iPod to use the computers Internet connection.

I bought an unlocked 3G and when I try to use the internet, it says 'Could not activate mobile data network'.

I have recently acquired an iPhone 3G 16GB. It is unlocked and I have put my sim card in (Virgin Mobile) and used it without problem when calling or sending text messages. The internet all works fine when connected to a wi-fi network.
In the top left hand corner it says '3G', however if I try anything related to the internet (Safari, Twitter etc.) a message will appear reading 'Could not activate mobile data network'. This is very inconvenient for me. All internet related activities work fine when connected to a wi-fi network.
Is this a problem with all unlocked phones? Is there a solution to this? Or am I simply unable to use the internet without wi-fi on this model?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, all questions may sound silly, but this is my first iPhone and I am very inexperienced with them!

First, you don't have a 3G if you have iOS 6.1.4. The 3G cannot go higher than iOS 4.2.1. That is not related to your problem, but worth knowing.
Let's try the obvious first. Tap the Settings icon. Then tap General. Then Cellular. Is Cellular Data on? Is there an entry for APN? If there is contact your carrier and ask what the APN settings should be. If there is no entry don't worry; the APN is automatic with your carrier.

That depends on the Cellular Plan / package you have for the phone. Some Plans include a certain ammount of data transfer in the cost of the phone package. If you have one of those then you have the specified ammount of data transfer to use the internet. If you go over you get charged extra.
If your plan is a Phone only plan with no Data package, then yes Internet will cost extra to whatever you already pay for the phone service.
Your best bet is to talk to your cellular carrier to make sure what type of Cellular package you have.
