Does HP update Nvidia drivers?

Hi, I have an HP Envy 15, and I noticed that apparently the drivers from Nvidia's website will not work, and I have to download them from HP's website? Does HP update the drivers? It seems that the drivers on HP's website are a much older version than the newest on Nvidia's website. Is there a 3rd party that makes them compatible for HP notebooks? Thanks!

Welcome to the HP forum, General.
Commentary
HP provides extensive testing, retesting, and more testing for drivers and software used in its consumer and commercial computers.  The drivers must work with HP software, hardware, and in a variety of situations.
The revision process is a long one, and the driver versions that are deemed compatible and tested are those that are available for HP notebook computers and other devices.
This is not only true of the NVIDIA drivers, but for other drivers as well.
This is true for all computer manufacturers -- each provides testing for their own systems so a given version of the software will work on that manufacturer's computer.
Because the drivers and software must be tested and proven to work in a BUNCH of (HP) systems and under a bunch of different situations, the versions available to the customer are might be behind (older) than what is available at the hardware manufacturer's website for the same product line.
I do not know if HP outsources this testing -- at one time, at least, I am pretty sure it was all done in-house.
Disclaimer:  I do not work for HP.

  • Cannot update nvidia drivers after installing bootcamp drivers

    Hi everyone,
I'm sorry to start again a topic that in my view has been treated many times, in many forums but HAS NOT been solved so far...I looked over many forums over the week end and tried a number of "tricks"
I'm running Windows 7 Pro Sp1 32bits on a MacbookPro 17 - intel core duo with two graphic cards but for better performance running the Nvidia GeForce 9600m GT
I have installed Windows 7 this week and then Bootcamp 4.0 - thus i have now Bootcamp drivers, ie 261.41
I have installed Battlefield 3 which asked me to update drivers to at least 285.27
I downloaded them from Nvidia site 285.27 AND 285.38 (m version - notebook) but when i start the indatllation i get the message "hardware not comptatible"
    So far i have tried 1) to install non-beta older versions but higher than 261.41 (which is by the way only available on bootcamp) - it does not work 2) uninstall nvidia drivers, restarting windows with VGA driver and install newest nvidia drivers - it does not work;
What i have not tried (as it was not clear on other forum): 1) replace an INF file? - i did not understand what i have to do here 2) update other drivers? mobility? ATA? - i'm not sure what people were talking about here?
SORRY MY MESSAGE IS LONG BUT I REALLY NEED YOUR HELP - and want to play battlefield 3 that i pre bought by the way... ;-)

    Hi,
I make this post as I found a way to solve my issue and this could be interesting to other people:
    1. Download the latest nvidia drivers (285.38) on nvidia website: http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?
    2. Launch the .exe it will unpack the package in one folder: most likely NVIDIA/DisplayDriver/285.38/WinVista_Win7/International
    3. Your installation will be cancelled through "hardware not compatible" - no worries you still have the unpacked stuff.
    4. Go to http://laptopvideo2go.com/drivers/win7x32/285.38/disclaimer and click on "Click here to download the modified INF file." on the bottom - this will download a file called nvwi.inf - copy it
    5. Go to the unpacked folder and go to the folder named Display.Driver - paste the nvwi.inf - it will replace the actual one
    6. On the root folder (International) click on setup and you will be allowed to install the drivers - note that i have accepted during installation two times that it install drivers not "allowed by windows" (different topic)
    Hope this helps.

  • Update NVIDIA drivers for 9600 GT M?

    Hi,
I have a MBP Unibody late 2008 and am trying to update my nvidia drivers in Bootcamp (Win7) but the nvidia site doesn't refer to the cards as 9600 GT, it refers to them as series and I don't know which one is the corresponding one to my card!
Can someone please let me know which to select?
    Thanks!
P.S. I have already tried going into the hardware manager and updating the drivers directly there. They appear to update but then games tell me there is an update required from nvidia site.
    Cheers!

Here's the link for the Dox release if you are running 32bit windows vista or win 7 http://files.laptopvideo2go.com/Dox/Vista/VistaWin7x86_185.85.exe
Here's the link for the Dox release if your running 64bit windows vista or win 7
    http://files.laptopvideo2go.com/Dox/Vistax64/VistaWin7x64_185.85.exe
Download the file that applies to you and run it in windows and follow the onscreen instructions. When it asks you which configuration you have select hybrid sli, as hardware wise that is what you have despite apple not activating it.
    Hope this helps.

  • Updated Nvidia Drivers? (W510)

Can I get updated Lenovo approved NVidia driver somewhere for the W510?
Basically the installed version is 268.24 and the version on NVidia's web site is 296.70, which is about if not more than an year old...
Can someone also tell me, what functionality will I lose (if any) if I install the driver from the nvidia web site? Also will I see performance/graphics improvements when doing casual gaming with the newer drivers from Nvidia? (diablo 3, starcraft 2)

I recently updated my W701ds to the 296.70 version (rom NVidia's websie) without any issues. I don't know what functionality, if any, I lost.
I didn't notice any performance gain.
    W530, i7-3820QM, FHD, 32GB 1600Mhz RAM, Quadro K2000M, 1024GB RAID-0 (2 Crucial 512GB SSDs), 256GB mSATA (ADATA SX300 SSD), Ultimate-N 6300, Bluetooth, Backlit Keyboard, BIOS 2.50

    Hi there @Daveita84
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand your concerns based on your past experiences. Unfortunately it is not possible for me to give you a guarantee that a problem would not happen again. If the updates are being offered in support assistance you can try them if they are necessary for you to do what you need. Most updates are entirely optional, and some only apply to certain issues.
The reality is that a computer is a mix of components often from different manufacturers, and each component is supposed to meet a set specification for that part, but in every device there is a certain error tolerance. It is always possible to have two identical models of computer perform the exact same updates and have one work perfectly and the other have trouble, because of these variations. It is why we make it possible for drivers and BIOS updates to be rolled back to a previous version, and we provide the older versions on the support website. There are far too many possible combinations of software, devices, drivers and operating systems. Some do not always play well together.
All I can suggest is to  try it out, or if you are really nervous try calling in to phone support, and have someone do it with you. They have tools that will allow them to echo your computer and walk through the process with you, and help if a problem were to occur. Most of the time there will not be a problem, but as the famous sage Murphy would say... "If anything can go wrong it will".  but you do have help available to you if it does.

  • Updating nVidia Drivers -- straightforward?

Hi all, newbie here.  I just downloaded what I believe are the latest chipset drivers from nVidia, because I've read here that it's a good idea to update them.  The file I downloaded is:
    6.86_nforce_win2kxp_international_whql. exe
    1) Are these what's refered to as the "chipset drivers", and did I download the correct file for my MoBo?
    2) is there anything  special I need to know before I install this file?
    3) are there any other drivers I should download and install before I send this computer off to its new owner?
    Thank you,
    Blaine

Just run the exe file and install on-top of what you have now .
I recommend to answer no to question to install the nv/sw ide driver and network management (nv firewall) .
If you have nv/sw ide drivers installed with previous drivers , answer yes to have them updated.

  • Can't Update nVidia Drivers

I have the latest version of the 24" iMac with the nVidia GT 130. I can't seem to upgrade the drivers though under Windows Vista after booting with BootCamp. With my old Mac Pro I could easily install updated drivers, but now when I run the update I get an error stating that "The NVIDIA Setup program could not locate any drivers that are compatible with your current hardware. Setup will now exit." I've double checked under Device Manager and I do indeed have nVidia GT 130 listed.
Any ideas why I can't upgrade the drivers?
UPDATE: On a whim I tried installing the notebook drivers and that worked. I was under the impression that the GT 130 wasn't a notebook card, but I guess I was wrong.

iMacs do not have actual video cards. They have mobile versions of the GPUs integrated onto the motherboard. I suspect that's the reason for what you see.

  • Updating nvidia drivers

I got nForce4 drivers from nvidia version 6.39 installed now.
How do I upgrade to the lately released 6.53 drivers? http://www.nvidia.com/object/nforce_nf4_winxp2k_6.53
Do I uninstall 6.39 first, and if yes, how?

    Just install over top.

  • Nvidia drivers keep loading

I just installed Vista on my MBP, got the drivers all up and installed, everything is working great.
The concern I have is that each time I boot into Vista, it tells me that it still needs to install my Nvidia driver, or do like one last thing to install it, and then it does, and then it's business as normal.
Is the Nvidia driver installed, or not? Why is it finishing the install with each reboot?

Really? That's your suggestion? Uninstall the latest nvidia drivers and install the factory MSI ones from 3 years ago?? There has to be a better solution to this because it's constantly happening to me too. We can't roll back to those old drivers since most current games require the updated nvidia drivers to even operate properly. I'd supposed the next suggestion would be to just buy a new laptop with a newer video card, right? lol

  • Updating video drivers in Boot Camp

I recently installed Windows 7 on my 24" '08 iMac (3.06 dual core with Nvidia 8800GS) using Boot Camp 3.0. Everything is working quite nicely but I'm wondering if I can get updated Nvidia drivers directly from Nvidia's site for their 8800 series of cards.
In the Windows driver update update it says I'm up to date and the Nvidia system utility says that newer drivers aren't available. There are more up to date drivers, however, and I'm wondering if there's any issue downloading new drivers from Nvidia and installing them? Has anyone had experience with this?

The guide on drivers heaven tells you all you need to know, disable the UAC in vista and reboot. Download the ATI driver package which is now 8.6, extract the package and then cancel the install. Use the mod tool and then navigate to the ATI folder and double click setup. It should run perfectly and all is well, I did it the other day with my iMac which has the ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT chip. The simple way to say what the mod tool does is that it changes the driver to recognise the apple signature on the chip.

  • JRE 1.3.1_02 does not work with new Nvidia drivers - HELP!

I am a user and not a developer but this problem really does bite the big one. I have had installed JRE 1.3.1 and have used it to run LimeWire file sharing program for a long time (LimeWire is a java program from www.limewire.com) and also use it to see java applets on web pages in IE 6.
I have since upgraded my Nvidia video drivers to version 2.8.3.2 which is the latest official release at this time from Nvidia. Since doing this I have no java at all anymore. Limewire refuses to run at all and there is an error report generated in it's resident directory. If I go to http://java.sun.com, IE hangs and then dissappears, leaving a bug report on my desktop. It seems that JRE does not like the new NT OpenGL dll at all in the new Nvidia drivers and will not run at all. The dll that causes the problem is:
    C:\WINDOWS\System32\nvoglnt.dll
I upgraded JRE to version 1.3.1_02 because Sun says this is the latest version and runs on XP which is what I have. Still java does not run at all anymore and I get the same bug reports. Has anyone found a workaround for this problem? This really stinks because now I cannot use LimeWire at all and if any web page has java on it, it dissappears right away and there is no more browser on my desktop. The only way I can even visit http://java.sun.com is if I use a Java blocking applet to filter out java applets on web pages.
Please address this issue in JRE development and release a patch for it or a workaround.

    Chuck,
I stumbled in here looking for help, I am a PC user,
not a coder or developer (How sad. <g>). I checked for
updates to the Nvidia driver (none), Windows XP (not
at this time), and DirectX 8.1 (not at this time,
these come on the XP updates page so far as I know.)
    Not too suprising...
I have no idea of how to implement your suggestion on
how to disable the JMV use of DirectX overal in my XP
envornment. I guess that using Internet Explorer 6 to
see web pages with Java on them are pretty much out of
the question for now but I would be happy as a clam if
I could get my LimeWire application going again.
LimeWire is called via a desktop or Start menu
    shortcut in this fashion:
    Target Box: C:\WINDOWS\system32\javaw.exe -cp .
    RunLime
    Start In (directory): "C:\Program Files\LimeWire 1.7"
So it appears that java is called via the javaw.exe
file and passes a cp argument (whatever that is), then
there is a period separator (dunno why) and then the
"RunLime" statement that calls up the LimeWire
program.to implement the suggestion, simply add -Dsun.java2d.noddraw=true between "javaw.exe" and "-cp" separating it from them by a space on each side. Your result should look something like this:
    c:\windows\system32\javaw.exe -Dsun.java2d.noddraw=true -cp . RunLime
    >
I cannot see any need for fancy graphic acceleration
or DirectX being called to play for this application
since it is basicly a file manager that shares.
Nothing fancy about it.It's not the application choosing to do this, but Java itself. Java GUI applications specifically those who use the Swing GUI classes (like LimeWire, if I recall) automatically leverage DirectX. This is really valuable for Swing applications since they emulate Windows (or Mac or Motif) GUI widgets rather than using them, making fast access to display buffers important to ensure best performance.

Do you have any idea of how to pass your
    "-Dsun.java2d.noddraw=true" statement to disable
DirectX into the above call to start java and
    LimeWire?See above.

Hanging by the edge of my seat, waiting for more input
on this. Thank you for your time and suggestions.

  • NVidia drivers updates - G10-100

    A couple of questions:
Are Toshiba ever going to update the display drivers for the G10? The ones they list on the downloads page are a year old! The regular nVidia ones won't install so I've had to resort to using the Omega drivers, and while they more or less work the TV-out on my G10 is now disabled.
Failing that, does anyone know if the drivers for the G20 work? Normally nVidia drivers are the same for all cards, but I was wondering whether a) the G20 drivers will even install on a G10, and b) whether the TV-out will work again.

I've now answered my questions. By default the G20 drivers won't install on a G10, but by copying parts of the NVTS.INF from the G10 drivers into the same file in the G20 drivers solves the problem.
    The bits you need are:
    * Copy the two lines from each of the [NVIDIA.Mfg.NTx86.5.1] and [NVIDIA.Mfg] sections -- this is the hardware ID of the FX5700 Go, and without these bits the drivers won't even attempt to install.
    * Everything from [nv4_NV36_M3.CoInstallers] to [nv4_NV36_M4_WinXP.GeneralConfigData] (including the two lines in the last section) needs to be pasted between [nv4_MEP43_LSR_3Lc.GeneralConfigData] and [nv4_EventLog_Inst]
Save the edited file, and you're good to go. You'll be warned that the driver isn't signed, but other than that the installation is trouble-free and offers a noticeable performance increase in some games. I've not tried the TV-out yet, so that's still an unknown quantity, but I'll report back when I've given it a bash...
(Why Toshiba didn't release the driver so it works on all models is beyond me; nVidia's UDA means that all cards use the same core driver components, so I'm guessing it's either just laziness or they figure that a 1-year-old machine isn't worth supporting properly any more.)

  • 24'' iMac (White) Nvidia drivers need updated for games

I have the Nvidia GeForce 7600 GT 256MB graphics card in my iMac. Apparently the GeForce 7 series drivers for Mac are really buggy, so some developers have blocked access to the games.
First is Steam, which recently came out with a Mac version. I was excited to play Half-Life 2 and Portal on my Mac instead of having to use Boot Camp, until I saw that they don't support my graphics card.
Next is Starcraft II. I was lucky enough to get invited for the beta testing, but like the Steam games, Starcraft II is not allowed for the Macs with the GeForce 7 series. Once again, I had to use Boot Camp instead.
Obviously, my graphics card can handle these games, because I can easily play them in Boot Camp.
How can we get Nvidia to update the drivers so that we can play games in Mac OS X?

You'd have to check with Nvidia; also, you might want to send feedback (suggestion/request) to Apple here:

  • How do I update Nvidia 9400M GeForce drivers on MacBook late 2009?

How do I update Nvidia 9400M GeForce drivers on MacBook late 2009?
I've got a huge fps drop problem on my mac, and i've called apple support, they told me to update Nvidia Graphics Card or something. How do i do this?

Nope, I'll do that, but since I've seen you here before, can I ask you something regarding my HD?
I've been transferring about 1.6 GB from my USB stick, and when it is going on with the transfer, my computer just freezes, i can move the mouse but not click anywhere. then after some time i can click again, but then it freezes again. And it takes like 10 times longer to transfer.
And also, would it work to transfer a windows xp.iso to my usb stick, and then install windows using boot camp?
And also, would it work if I purchase 4GB or 2GB + 4GB (6GB) RAM to my Macbook unibody late 2009?
And also, would it work if i purchased RAM memory originally from a macbook Pro?
