Does iCloud work with Snow Leopoard?

I have Lion on my iMAC and my devices (iPad, iPhones) are all IOS 5.0.1; and all our email accounts have been transferred from MobileMe to iCLOUD.
But my Macbook Pro still has Snow Leopard because I have an older processor. Right now, my emails are stil syncing; how can that be if I moved all my email accounts to iCloud?

Thanks for the link. It has taken a great load off my mind. I've been previously informed that I could set up an iCloud account with my recently purchased Sony laptop with Windows 7 Professional. But I’ve been extremely apprehensive that I’ll lose access to my @mac and @me email accounts on my Macs running Snow Leopard and Tiger. Now I see that I’ll continue to use those addresses.
I’ll continue to hold off jumping on the iCloud bandwagon. Maybe someone at Apple with second thought as to the course that they are now taking. After being a Mac Head since December 1998, I now feel alienated.
I simply refuse to upgrade the Lion capable iMac to Lion. The five other Macs can not be upgraded. But they’re still too good enough not to be added to a landfill site. I have absolutely no use for an iPhone or iPad. As for my two iPods, I only download music from oldies stations found on the Radio selection of iTunes. I have no use for syncing. I actually have it turned off on my Macs.
I’ll miss both Gallery, which I use extensively, and iDisk. Looks like I’ll be heading off to greener pastures in search of replacements. But as with my email, I’m holding off until the bitter end. I can only hope that saner heads will prevail and put a stop to this madness.
I’m now wondering if Apple’s future plans are to discontinue building Macs.

  • Does icloud work with snow leopard

    Please apple!!!
Make a snow leopard update that includes icloud.
Then itunes match will work properly and then all my macs with sync music, photos, notes, mail and most importantly contacts. I want to have any contact i add on my iphone to pop up on my imac or macbook pro and visa versa between all three instead of having to sync one computer then go sync to another to share the contacts.
I don't want to download and install lion becuase alot of my music sequencing software and synths are working great with the current system and if i swap to lion alot of them wont work or do not have updates yet. Additionally lion did away with multiple desktops which i use all the time.
Additionally i don't want to have to buy a new computer.
PLEASE.....just make a snow leopard 10.6.9 that includes icloud

    No.
The iCloud services require 10.7.5, or higher.

Does iCloud work with Windows 8?  If not, when is it anticipated that it will?  I want to sinc Microsoft Outlook between my computer and SmartPhone.

iCloud is not currently supported on Win 8, some have got it to work but many have not, I would wait until it is supported.

According to Roaring Apps, there is a version of Protools compatible with Lion.  But you may need Snow Leopard 10.6.8 to buy either Lion or ML on MAS.   It looks like you need to get up-to-date with your OS and the apps too.

I have a Powerbook G4 (don't laugh) with iPhoto '08. How does iCloud work with my computer. I have a iPhone 4 that has iCloud. Is iCloud pushing my phone's PhotoStream to my computer if it doesn't have the latest OS? Thanks so much for whoever can help!

iCloud will not work with your computer because iCloud requires Lion. Lion requires an Intel Core 2 Duo processor or better. For you to have iCloud and PhotoStream you would need to buy a newer Mac Intel model meeting the requirements for Lion:
    Lion System Requirements
Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
    2GB of memory
    OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
    7GB of available space
Some features require an Apple ID; terms apply.

  • Does LiveType work with Snow Leopard?

I recently updated to Snow Leopard and the latest Final Cut Studio. When I went to open LiveType, I got the following message:
    LiveType quit unexpectedly.
Click Reopen to open the application again. Click Report to see more detailed information and send a report to Apple.
Does LiveType work with Snow Leopard? Do I trash my preferences or reinstall the program from my original version of Final Cut Studio?
    Any ideas?

Am I the only one who feels like that is ridiculous? Apple provides the possibility to upgrade to the new Final Cut Studio from the original version of Final Cut Studio, but in so doing, disables a program that was working fine before the upgrade, and doesn't provide any avenue to fix the problem? Is that really the way things work in the world of Apple computing? Does that compute?
I hope that this is not right...
For some reason this reminds me of Thoreau...
    "Simplify, simplify."
This seems to be the antithesis of "Think Different" doesn't it?
Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes.
The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can praise them, disagree with them, quote them, disbelieve them, glorify or vilify them.
About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They invent. They imagine. They heal. They explore. They create. They inspire. They push the human race forward.
Maybe they have to be crazy.
How else can you stare at an empty canvas and see a work of art? Or sit in silence and hear a song that’s never been written? Or gaze at a red planet and see a laboratory on wheels?
While some see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.
But in Apple's world, if you missed update number two then that's all you're going to get is an empty canvas, because the program used to put print on your canvas is no longer available. And if you go looking for another option, like for instance if you take their slogan literally:
    They’re not fond of rules.
Then what is Apple going to do about it? I think if you read the news it's pretty obvious what Apple's going to do about it.
Is it any wonder that they dismissed their slogan, because it did not fit in with their business plan.
    Any comments?

  • Does Airport work with Snow Leopard?

I have a Mac Mini which has to keep running Snow Leopard (10.6.8) in order to use some legacy software.  Does the basic Airport router work with Snow Leopard?

THANK you.  That's exactly what I was trying to ask.
If I had a Mavericks laptop, would I be able to set up the router that way, even if I could only connect wirelessly via the laptop?  (it's a Macbook Air)  And then plug the Snow Leopard mini into the router once it was set up?
I'm guessing I would have to download the Airport utility to the Macbook Air before replacing my current router with the Airport, right?

  • Canon MP620 print driver does not work with Snow Leopard

Bought a Macbook & bundled Canon MP620 printer in Dec 08. Two days ago upgraded to Snow Leopard, and I can no longer print (the printer is not recognized), it only sees "Bonjour scanner" (the printer is a multi-function printer, copier, fax, scanner). Spent more than two hours with two different Apple tech support people over the phone; talked to Apple personnel in store. My printer is connected via Ethernet cable to a wireless modem, and I connect to the wireless modem via Airport. The phone tech person insisted that this printer is supported by Snow Leopard, but we reloaded the print driver from the Snow Leopard installation disk with no results. Finally my last resort, which worked, is to go to Radio Shack and get a cable that has a USB-A (printer) to USB-B (Mac) attachment. I was able to print. It is unacceptable for Apple to have this problem, as I went into the store four different times to discuss whether I should upgrade to Snow Leopard, and was told on every occasion that Snow Leopard will make everything run faster, more smoothy, etc. NOT! I want Apple to post a notice on their web site to a) confirm their print driver problems with Snow Leopard and b) to confirm WHEN new print drivers will be released.

Have a look at my last posting re Canon network printing.

i got my MP980 working via Ethernet and wireless. The same procedure should work for your MP620.

  • Does icloud come with Snow Leopard?

I just recently upgraded to Mac OS X Snow Leopard and there is not an icloud icon in my system preferences.  What to do?

The minimum requirement for iCloud is Lion 10.7.5 (Mavericks preferred): the iCloud Preference Pane does not appear on earlier systems - the MobileMe pane appears on Lion and earlier but is now non-functional - you cannot now open or access a MobileMe account.
To make use of iCloud you will have to upgrade your Mac to Lion or Mavericks, provided it meets the requirements.
    The requirements for Lion are:
Mac computer with an Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
    2GB of memory
    OS X v10.6.6 or later (v10.6.8 recommended)
    7GB of available space
Lion is available in the Online Apple Store ($19.99). Mountain Lion (10.8.x) is also available there at the same price (though it's reported to have been removed from sale in some countries so may well cease to be available generally) but there seems little point as the system requirements are the same for Mavericks (10.9.x) - which is free - unless you need to run specific software which will run on Mountain Lion only.
The requirements for Mountain Lion and Mavericks are:
    OS X v10.6.8 or later
    2GB of memory
    8GB of available space
      and the supported models are:
    iMac (Mid 2007 or newer)
MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer)
MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer)
    Xserve (Early 2009)
MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer)
Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer)
Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer)
It is available from the Mac App Store (in Applications).
You should be aware that PPC programs (such as AppleWorks) will not run on Lion or above; and some other applications may not be compatible - there is a useful compatibility checklist at http://roaringapps.com/apps:table

  • Really imovie HD6 DOES not work with snow leopard

I was planning on buying a new computer a mac pro quad
Does imovie HD 6 work on the new OS?
    please help
    thanks
    scott

"..Does iMovie 06 use QuickTime?.." ..I understand that iMovie uses some elements of QuickTime for display, for transitions, etc. (..Maybe you don't remember that until QuickTime was altered, a while ago, you could specify the duration of a transition in PAL in iMovie, but the timing matched only NTSC frame rates..)
"..I have QuickTime Pro 7.6.4 for OS 10.5.." ..I had - still have - QuickTime Pro 7.6.3 for 10.5 (Leopard), but I chose to keep that while installing 10.6 (Snow Leopard).
"..Should I back it up somehow?.." ..erm; d'you mean Backup using Retrospect or Time Machine, or d'you mean 'back up' as in revert to an earlier version? I'd think 7.6.4 is perfectly OK, and I always Backup to a separate disc before doing a big installation (..e.g; Snow Leopard).
"..I thought that 10.6 included QuickTime X, and deleted the older QuickTime.." ..It does include QuickTime X, but at installation it offers you the opportunity to keep your older QuickTime version, too. It doesn't necessarily delete the older QuickTime.
"..So it looks like iMovie 06 and 10.6 are "Good", but is the compatibility of QuickTime X also an issue here?.." ..Dunno. No compatibility problems seem to have arisen for me, but then I haven't used iMHD6 a lot since upgrading to 10.6. I notice you've posted repeated queries about whether still clips continue to play properly in iMHD6 with 10.6 ..I've had no problems with still clips: they run for the correct duration, and accept transitions before and after, etc. Maybe I have no compatibility problems because I still have QT7. Both of them - QT7 and QT X - work happily along with each other, and both can be open simultaneously.
"..(I STILL hope for a iMovie 06 upgrade someday.).." ..I don't think that day's gonna come. Steve looks forward, not back.

  • Does icloud work with windows XP?

    i don't know how it worhs ...

You can hack iCloud control panel to work on Windows XP to give you synced access to Contacts, Calenders, Reminders and Bookmarks. It also can be used to set up your me.com mail.
I found a solution here, have written it up in clearer english and added details re IMAP support for me.com addresses here:
    http://xlii.be/s/1ii
    In summary:
    Requirements:
    iTunes 5.10
Unpacking program e.g. 7-Zip or WinRar
    Orca MSI editor
The iCloud setup hack for Windows XP:
Download iCloud Control Panel for Windows.
Open iCloudSetup.exe file with WinRar or 7-Zip and extract.
Navigate to and open the iCloud.msi or iCloud64.msi (for 64bit systems) with Orca.
In the left table select LaunchCondition. Then change in the right table “VersionNT> = 600” to “VersionNT> = 200” and Save.
    Run modified iCloud.msi and install.
Run iCloud Control Panel, located in the Windows Control Panel, and set up as you want.
    Have fun!
