  • Does Lync Support Viewer Remote Control of Video Cameras?

    Hello,
I was wondering whether Lync has the following functionality:
    1) Does Lync have the ability to allow meeting viewers to control the videocameras that are being used by a presenter?  So assuming I have the proper pan tilt zoom camera/hardware, if I was a "presenter" in a meeting, could I allow my "guest"
viewers to control my cameras? (Up, down, left, right, and zoom)
    2) Does Lync allow for a single user to transmit multiple videocamera feeds at once?

    1) No, not natively, but with third party help possibly.
    2) Not really, but there are some specialty devices which might be interesting...  Check out the Polycom CX5500

  • Does anyone have the Sony HDR-XR500V video camera??

Does anyone have the Sony HDR-XR500V video camera??
Is it compatible with a G5 PowerPC? Any pros? or cons? Please advice.

I'd stay away from Sony unless you are buying pro stuff, but even then...
Sony software is only compatible with windows & their mac support is pretty much non-existant.
plus, hard drive camcorders are a terrible idea! if you start having problems, poof, there goes the hours of footage. Even the Sony cams that use flash cards are a bad choice - you usually have to buy their magic gate cards.
I'd stick with Panasonic or Canon cameras that are SDHC+Internal or just SDHC. AT least this way the cards can be replaced, you can expand the memory, & it's SD - much cheaper to buy than the magic gate cards.
check out camcorderinfo.com for more info & reviews.
Now, to import your footage, you will need an app like Voltaic as importing AVCHD with Apple's video apps is only supported on Intel machines. You can still edit with iMovie or Final Cut - the versions that support HD, but the initial import from the camera will have to be done with the 3rd party utility.

  • Iphoto does not support the resolution of my dslr camera...how do i upload full resolution photos?

iphoto does not support the resolution of my dslr camera...how do i upload full resolution photos?

You actually need to give information to get help - just stating an abstract problems (which is most certainly not a problem at all) gives the volunteers hearer nothing to work with to help you
What version of iPhoto? Of the OS? What exactly is the problem (iPhoto does support the resolution of your camera so that is NOT a problem)? what exactly are you doing? What error messages do you get? why do you incorrectly think that iPhoto does not support full resolution?
At this time your question is like my car won't start - why not? Could be anything from you did not put the key jun to being out of gas to having the engine stolen - no way to tell anything - except that the problem you claim is not true (at least in my example I would know that the car did not start)

  • Does JMF Support multilingual absolute paths for video playback?

    Hi everyone,
I hope I can find some answer here.
Does JMF supports multilingual paths for videos? E.g. I have a video located by the following URL:
    G:\video\Stürmische\video.mp4
When I try to open this video by JMF, I get the following Exception: Problem playing video+
    javax.media.NoPlayerException: Cannot find a Player for :file:/G:/video/Stürmische/video.mp4_
When I use the same video.mp4 file with path containing only simple latin letters, it's played normally.
Is there any problem with JMF regarding to multilingual paths?
    Many thanks,
    Armine

I assume that it's a JMF cons. and IMHO, multilingual support for video paths/names should be added in it.Several things...
    1) JMF is designed to play both local files and RTP/RTSP file sources. As such, it uses URLs as resource locators. It makes perfect sense to make that design decision.
    2) URL encoding only allows alphanumeric characters and a handful of special characters. Considering the internet was invented by the United States army and our keyboards don't have those symbols, it makes perfect sense to make that design decision.
    3) Most importantly, JMF hasn't been updated since 2002 and development has been completely discontinued... so "multilingual support" won't ever be added to it.
And it isn't multilingual support you're asking for, it's support for non-ASCII characters.
It is my understanding that you can take a path like:
    G:\video\Stürmische\video.mp4
Run it through some encoding procedure, and come out with a usable URL like:
    G:%5Cvideo%5CSt%FCrmische%5Cvideo.mp4
Which I got by using the encoder on the following website:
    http://www.blooberry.com/indexdot/html/topics/urlencoding.htm
Coincidentally, had you done the research that I suggested you do, you might have learned that Java already has something built in to handle encoding non-compliant URLs for you.
    http://download.oracle.com/javase/1.5.0/docs/api/java/net/URLEncoder.html
So, I'd expect you could use the URLEncoder class to implement suggestion #3 from my previous post.

  • OS X does not see my Sony DCR-PC110 video camera?

I just got the new all in one 27" MAC and could not wait to start editing my videos. Then a problem, I hook up my Sony DCR-PC110 with fire wire and nothing happens. The camera does not show up in the system at all, and of course Final Cut Express 4.0 show "No Comunication" instead of "VTR OK".
Is this camera no longer supported?
Is there anything I can try to get it to work?
Last but not least, if there is a compatability problem how can I get my collection of the kids video from the digital tape into Final Cut Express?
Thanks in advance for any guidance on this.

    Hi
As I see it - it should work.
See my list (most should apply)
    *NO CAMERA or A/D-box*
    Cable
    • Sure that You use the FireWire - USB will not work for miniDV tape Cameras
FireWire - Sure not using the accompany USB-Cable but bought a 4-pin to 6-pin FW one ?
    • Test another FW-Cable very often the problem maker.
    Camera
    • Test Your Camera on another Mac so that DV-in still works OK
    • Toogle in iMovie pref. Play-back via Camera (on<->off some times)
    • Some Cameras has a Menu where You must select DV-out to get it to work
Does Your Camera work on another Mac ?
Sorry to say it is to easy to turn the 6-pin end of the FW-cable 180 deg wrong.
This is lethal to the A/D-chip in the Camera = needs an expensive repair.
(Hard to find out - else than import/export to another Mac ceased to work
everything else is OK eg recording and playback to TV)
    Connections
    • Daisy Chaining most often doesn’t work (some unique cases - it’s the only way that work (some Canon Cameras ?))
Try to avoid connecting Camera <--> external HD <--> Mac but import directly to the Mac then move
the Movie project to dedicated external hard disk.
    Mac
    • Free space on internal (start-up) hard disk ? Please specify the amount of free space.
    (Other hard disks don't count)
I go for a minmum of 25Gb free space for 4x3 SD Video - and my guess is 5 times more for 16x9 HD ones
after material is imported and edited.
    SoftWare
    • Delete iMovie pref file may help sometimes. I rather start a new account, log into this and have a re-try.
    • Any strange Plug-ins into QuickTime as Perian etc ? Remove and try again.
    • FileVault is off ? (hopefully)
    Using WHAT versions ? .
    • Mac OS - X.5.4 ?
    • QuickTime version ? (This is the heart in both iMovie and FinalCut)
    • iMovie 8 (7.1.?) ?
    • iMovie HD 6 (6.0.4/3) ?
*Other ways to import Your miniDV tape*
    • Use another Camera. There where tape play-back stations from SONY
but they costed about 2-4 times a normal miniDV Camera.
    • If Your Camera works on another Mac. Make an iMovie movie project here and move it
over to Your Mac via an external hard disk.
(HAS TO BE Mac OS Extended formatted - USB/DOS/FAT32/Mac OS Exchange WILL NOT DO)
(Should be a FireWire one - USB/USB2 performs badly)

Hi Bengt W, I tried it all, but nothing worked. Your answer has been helpfull insofar as all the different trials led to the conclusion that there was something wrong with my iMovie software. I therefore threw everything away and reinstalled iMovie from the HD. After that the exportation of DV videos (there has not been any problem with HDV videos) to my Sony camcorders worked properly as it did before. Thank you. LKN 1935

Thanks for all your suggestions. What I learned is that I had a software problem. I had something called "Nikon Transfer" on my Mac that was recognizing my Canon camcorder as a still camera and was preventing iMovie from working properly. After uninstalling Nikon Transfer and doing a reboot, everything worked great.
I never liked the Nikon Transfer software anyway--I guess I'll get a cheap card reader and use that to transfer photos in the future.

  • Does this support AVCHD files straight from the camera (Panasonic)??

Does the new final cut pro X support AVCHD files from the camera?  I record with a Panasonic AG-HMC40.
    Thank you

FCPX doesn't import AVCHD files from my Panasonic GH-2, even though importing works perfectly into iMovie.  So just because camera X imports natively into iMovie, it isn't certain it will import natively into FCPX.
iMovie archives will always import because the AVCHD has already been converted to ProRes on import.
In FCPX the AVCHD files from say a GH-2 can be edited natively if you don't want to re-render into ProRes, but to date I can't import them to test this.

  • Why does Apple support print those "Hello" booklets that came with my new iMac in super small fonts?

Yesterday I purchased the latest available 27inch iMac from my local Apple only dealer.     ( It sure beats my very first Mac which was an LC520. )
The included in the box printed quick start guide named "Hello" was printed using a font size very close to zero.
Who are these people at Apple support that can read such small fonts with using 20X powered magnifying lenses
    Are they somewhat...
What a waste of mony Apple!

I think it's a point worth making.  It is virtually unreadable.
On reflection, I'm wondering if there is an obligation in some countries to provide such information with a device.   This could be Apple's way of complying while spending the absolute minimum.

  • Using a Panasonic HC-V500M video camera with an iMac?

Does Imovie 08 (7.1.4) support a Panasonic HC-V500M video camera? Have been able to transfer movie to Imac with Imovie '08 but audio doesn't transfer. Why? What should I do to get audio?

From what I've found through reading the topic in several digital movie
forums, you should be able to use iMovie and have it import the file
from the camera for use and editing in the Mac.
This path may be version dependent for best results; and I am not
sure which versions of iLife's iMovie would be best for use with the
digital camera and also may be compatible with the older Mac iBook.
Some Panasonic digital video cameras are also seen by iPhoto and
in some cases, that can find the movie file and import it for iMovie.
And there are other Panasonic video devices which create the same
kinds of files, and there is a free or shareware software out there to
help use them. This may include players by third parties and others
which may be able to edit digital movie files.
In some digital movie forums, there is an awareness of Panasonic
    products not necessarily being the best supported for Mac OS X;
while many pro users of Panasonic products have Macs, among
them are newer Intel Mac users with Parallels, BootCamp, etc
and they can run XP or Vista-ready software. If this is (still) true,
then Panasonic may be missing out; since modern products
should have support in their retail box for both major platforms.
Some Panasonic products have shipped with Mac software for
several years now; along with Windows software. Some didn't.
Hopefully iMovie can see the Panasonic digital movie files; if the
iBook can support the feature set of iMovie. Some aspects of
this part of iLife require the ability to record to DVD media and
also may require more system assets & resources than you have.
    Good luck & happy computing!

Welcome to Apple Discussions, Photo Booth Isight Camera
Here are some common solutions that help most avoid a visit to their Apple Service Technician for the "in use..." or "no camera connected" errors.
If you are still having problems after you get your system's software completely reinstalled and updated, try the following, even ones you may have tried before you reinstalled your software. None of the suggestions is complicated, but the only way to find which one will work for you is to try them one-by-one until you find which fixes your Mac.
    (0) Disconnect any unnecessary peripherals while you do your testing to rule out possible conflicts.
    (1) Restart your Mac. Sometimes that is all that is required.
    (2) If you use VMware Fusion to run Windows on your Mac, consider disconnecting iSight from your Virtual Machine as recommended by user "The.VCI" in this post.
    (3) If you use an HP printer/scanner with your Mac, consider the "daemon" suggestions from user "parkersal" in this post.
    (4) Check for any running applications, Login Items, or widgets that can use your iSight. (It is easy to forget widgets like Mirror in your Dashboard.) As explained in Apple's iSight "Your camera is in use by another application" message, iSight can be used by one application at a time.
    (5) Try every suggestion re: Built-in iSight in How to Troubleshoot iSight. Be sure to include the checks for whether the problem is "application-specific" and "user-specific".
Click here if you need help creating a new user account to check whether your problem is "user-specific" during Troubleshooting.
    (6) If resetting or the other troubleshooting suggestions do correct your problem, try the following:
    • Backup your Home Folder, or at very least, your important files.
    • Repair permissions. (Click here if you need help.)
    • Then download and apply the Mac OS X 10.4.10 Combo Update v1.1 (iNtel).
    • Finish with another Permissions Repair, and then check your iSight again.
Users have reported fixes to a variety of audio, video, connectivity, and software conflicts and unreliability issues after properly applying Combo Updates.
    (7) Some iNtel Mac laptop users have also reported success after unplugging their Macs and leaving the battery out for half-an-hour to overnight. You might want to try disconnecting EVERYTHING, including both power and peripherals, for a few hours to see if it help you.
    (8) If none of these suggestions work, contact your retailer, Apple, or your Apple-Authorized Service Provider for professional help.

  • Does the later 2009 MacBook support the Apple DVI to Video Adapter (s-video). I want to connect it to an old tv which does not support HDMI. Any suggestions?

I have a late 2009 MacBook which I want to connect to an old LG tv. The tv does not support HDMI it only has the (red, while, and yellow) ports. Sorry I dunno the exact name for it.
So I was thinking of using the Apple Mini DVI to Video Adapter (s-video), link below...
    http://store.apple.com/Catalog/dk/Images/M9319_screen.jpg
But I'm afraid that the MacBook might not support the adapter.
Can anyone give me a solution for this? Is there an alternative way of doing this? I'm kinda new to apple display adapters.

The Late 2009 model 6,1 has a Mini DisplayPort not the Mini-DVI. To see which model you have go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info. When the System Profiler comes up check the Model Identifier.
Composite is the name for the red, white and yellow RCA plugs on your TV or red, white and S-Video plugs. If you want to use the Composite input on your TV there’s no Mini DisplayPort to Composite. You’ll have to get a Mini DisplayPort to VGA adapter http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_1_19?url=search-alias%3Delectronics&field -keywords=mini+displayport+to+vga&sprefix=mini+Displayport+to and a VGA Adapter to TV S-Video RCA Out Cable for PC Video. http://www.amazon.com/VGA-Adapter-S-Video-Cable-Video/dp/B000Y7T5UU/ref=sr_1_7?s =electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1316369974&sr=1-7
Only the Yellow plug or the S-Video plug for video will work. For sound you'll also need audio cables to the TV using a 3.5mm stereo headphone jack to RCA sound plugs. You attach it from the headphone jack of your MacBook to the appropriate input plugs on your TV  http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=min i-dvi&x=9&y=13#/ref=nb_sb_ss_i_2_19?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=macboo k+audio+cable&sprefix=macbook+audio+cable&rh=i%3Aaps%2Ck%3Amacbook+audio+cable

  • "Your computer does not support video chatting." Sometimes.

Hi, I'm on a MacBook late '08 and my pal has some earlier macbook.
We are on each other's bonjour list. The problem is that sometimes we can have a video conference no problem, and at other, random times, the option is grayed out, and if I go to preferences, the iSight green light goes on, but the window says my computer does not support video chatting, and that's the end of the story. How do I troubleshoot that? Thanks.

    Hi,
In the 5 years since iChat 2 came on the scene I have only managed 3 Video chats with people on Satellite connections.
The Issue is the time it takes to bounce the Signal Up and back to the Host server.
When you send for a Web page you send little data packets of requests.
Your computer does not send the next until the first is acknowledged.
It tends to improve once it is started and you may notice any downloads you do seem to get faster the longer they are going.
iChat requires for Video chat that the packets are almost Instantly responded to/acknowledged and most domestic modems do not do this.
Some commercial servers provide a Buffer at one end or the other that acts like the acknowledgement was sent speeding up the process and effectively getting the fastest service you can get out of the connection.
Speed testing your Connection tends to take long enough for the Acknowledgement issue to be reduced and will tell you the max speed you will possibly get
http://www.speedtest.net/ but not the start up speed.
With some services you can pay for the Buffering (I forget the actual name for it)
