  • Why does the new MacBook Pro 13 no longer come with a graphics card?

Why does the new MacBook Pro no longer come with a graphics card?  Or at least make it so you can opt for one.

I know how you feel. Your MacBook Pro has integrated graphics 384 MB or 512 MB. If you are a gamer, creative professional or just want more VRAM get a 15 inch MacBook Pro with up to 1 gig of VRAM or a windows gaming laptop with up to 16 gigs of VRAM (a ridiculous amount!). If you get a windows pc, you can always install virtual box. There is no point in buying a 13 inch MacBook Pro unless you need a lightweight laptop with all of the extra "goodies". There is also no possible way to change the graphics unless you know how to "unhook" the card from the processor and install a new one. Sorry for the inconvenience.

  • Problem with nvidia graphic card, nvlddmkm.sys

I have a HP m9000 , originally it had Vista, it started to fail and display the error nvlddmkm.sys (on a blue screen od death), i intalled Windows 8 in hope the problem get resolve. but the problem still persist. At the beginning on W8 it looks like working fine, but suddenly it started to display "controller not responding", and then it is displayin "Something goes wrong with your graphic card".
I found on internet a fix; expanding the nvlddmkm.sy_ and replace the file in system32. i made it but right now after the windows logon screen the monitor starts to blink between black screen and off screen.
The grapghic card is a NVIDIA 8500 GT. I tested the graphic card in other computer, and at the begining it worked fine, but after the dirver installation it started to fail in the same way.
Ad far i could read on intetrnet it is a failure with NVIDIA.
Is there any solution for this problem? Or i should change the graphic video card? (Maybe for an ATI)

    Hi,
I have used many different NVIDIA cards (including a 8600) on different PCs and never had your issue.
As for drivers, you can always use the original drivers that came with your PC and then do an update if necessary.

Do the iMac come installed with iwork

No. You have to buy the iWork apps separately if you want them. You can see what does come with a new iMac here:

have you connected power cables to the VGA?
do >>Clear CMOS Guide<< with power cord removed.
also make 1st VGA the add-on one, if there is a such option
yes it is connected and in this bios version there is not an option for this
i was looking for a bios update but when i go to msi there is non even with liveupdate 5
but i can also see that it doesn't read the mainboard type correctly so live update is not the rigt solution for this

  • Does iMac come with a program to copy DVDs?

I have some DVD's I'd like to copy. Is there software included with the iMac Or do I need third party software? Thanks

You can download Handbrake for free, it's a great program for ripping DVD movies. BTW here is review Macworld did on it last year.
For copying other DVD's Finder works just fine.

  • Is it possible to upgrade MacBook Pro 15inch iris pro Retina display version to Nvidia graphics card?

    Hi
I purchased a MacBook Pro 15inch iris pro Retina display version (£1599) recently.
Can we upgrade  tit with Nvidia graphics card?
    Thanks

In USA, you can return a Mac within 14 days of purchase and buy a new one with the desired spec.
Retina MacBook Pro cannot be upgraded once bought.
    Best.

  • Bought laptop with no graphics card.

Hi, in June I bought a laptop. I was helped in which one exactly to buy. And when I decided to buy what the empoyee recommended my gaming, it turns out that the laptop didn't come with a graphics card. Now I am stuck with no graphics card..at all. It is a Lenovo V570. I didn't realise this until last week.

Being that the MSRP is only $600, to be blunt, you didn't give them a gaming laptop budget.

I tightened all HD screws and it didn't help. With the machine running and side of the case off, I physically stopped both the video card fan and the front case fan with my finger for a couple seconds and the noise continued. I also took all hard drives out one by one and rebooted each time. Again, the noise continued until I took out the Mac HD in Bay 1, rebooted, and I had a very quiet, silent machine. The issue is the hard drive in bay 1 that shipped with the computer, it's without a doubt causing the hum/woosh sound. I still need to know if I can safely swap the Mac HD from bay 1 to bay 4 without any issues to the operating system. I would like to try that to see if it dampens the noise but I also want to make sure this swap won't screw up my machine at all.

  • Imacs come with a weaker graphics processor than specified by apple

Recently I bought an 24inch 2.8Ghz Imac which really works fine, but i discovered something rather strange when running some benchmark programs in windows XP. Apple advertises that the new 24inch Imacs come with ATI Radeon HD 2600 PRO graphics card, however benchmark software programs like 3dMark06 and Sisoftware Sandra recognise the video card as a ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2600XT; which is a notebook video card and thus weaker in performance.
The video card in the new imacs really are the weakest components, but now apple delivers an even weaker notebook videocard set while selling it as being a desktop videocard. I think it is hard to believe that they mistakenly put a wrong videochipset only in my imac so I was wondering if more people have noticed this and if yes, what action can we take??

    Hi,
What model does System Profiler claim the graphics card is?
however benchmark software programs like 3dMark06 and Sisoftware Sandra recognise the video card as a ATI Mobility Radeon HD 2600XT
How up to date are those benchmarking tools? If they're older than the graphics card in question, maybe they default to the closest they can find.
If it really is the wrong chipset, contact Apple directly via the Apple Store telephone number.

  • Non NVidia graphics card issues with Adobe and Mountain Lion

It took me a while to figure it out, but now I am certain. If using a Mac with a non nvidia graphics card there will be issues in Mountain Lion while using Adobe products. I tested this with Illustrator CS6 for over a year on 5 different Mac computers.
    Here is what happens
As soon as I open Illustrator on a Mac without a NVidia graphics card and I attend to apply an shadow effect, Illustrator crashes. If I do this procedure on a Mac with a NVidia inside, all works well.
I tested this on the following Macs
MacBook Pro (Early 2009) with NVidia 9600M GT - it works
MacBook Pro (Early 2011) with Radeon 6750M - doesn't work
Mac Pro (Early 2009) with Radeo HD 5770 - doesn't work
The same Mac Pro (Early 2009) with NVidia GT120 - it works
MacBook Air (Mid 2012) with Intel HD 4000 - doesn't work
iMac (Late 2012) with NVidia 680MX - it works
Since I owned all these Macs, I could test it several times with different kind of software updates. 10.8, 10.8.1, 10.8.2 and 10.8.3 did deliver the same result. Everytime the same result.
Already got in touch with Adobe
With Illustrator CS5 it worked like a charme, so I assumed it could be an Adobe issue. But Adobe support told me, it's Apple's fault since 10.8 uses different processes for the graphics performance.
What can be done, to resolve this issue? I cannot buy only Macs with NVidia inside, since the small portable front of Macs is only coming with Intel graphics cards. And is there anybody out there, having this issue? I cannot be the only one, using shadows in Illustrator.

A typical response.  IMO it's most likely a combination of Adobe's reluctance to fix the issue combined with Apple's desire for advancement and change.  I've personally experienced several things that've become broken owing to Apple changing fundamental aspects of the OS, and the developers of the third-party software in question have either never fixed their software, or are taking their sweet time.  WireTap Studio and Snapz Pro from Ambrosia are a case in point, though they eventually fixed Snapz Pro.  Eventually…
Frankly, good luck getting either side to do anything about this.  Your best bet is probably getting in touch with AppleCare and seeing if you can get this escalated to Engineering, but I wouldn't hold your breath for a fix from either party.  Or perhaps one of the Apple mailing lists will prove useful.
