Does iMovie 11 work with iDVD 6? - sharing issue

I recently upgraded from iMovie HD to iMovie 11 instead of purchasing the entire iLife 11 bundle in order to import AVCHD files from my Panasonic TM90. However, once I finished creating a project on iMovie 11 and shared it to my iDVD 6, the project would not show up in iDVD. iDVD does start up, but my project doesn't appear. iMovie 11, however, says that the import completes successfully and I can see it loading during the sharing process.
So I'm wondering if my iMovie 11 is incompatible with iDVD 6. I've thought about using my imported video files from iMovie 11 in iMovie HD instead, and attempting to share it to iDVD from there, but I'm wondering if there are better solutions.

It should work fine.
I use iMovie 06 with iDVD 11 all the time. I also have iMovie 11 but I don't use it very often.
There was a quality upgrade from iDVD 06 to iDVD 08 - 11, (and a quality downgrade from iMovie 06 to iMovie 08 - 11).   I like to use iMovie 11 when sharing movies on the web but for making DVDs I get better quality with iMovie 06 and iDVD 11.
Starting with iDVD 08 an option called “professional quality” was added.  If you're making DVDs I would purchase iDVD 11.
If you purchase on iLife 11 on disc, you will have the option of selling it in the future.  Presently, iLife 06 sells for about double the price it cost new.

  • Does iMovie 06 Work with iLife 08

I have a PM G4, PM G5 (SP 1.8) and a PB G4 1.25. From what I have read, I am convinced that iMovie 08 will not install on any of my macs.
    See this link:
    http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/imovieHD6.html
I'm curious to know if iMovie 06 will work with the various components of iLife 08. If so it would be worth it for me to purchase iLife 08 since I only do SD video, have no interest in HD video and that way I could use the iPhoto, iweb etc components of iLife 08 with iMovie 06.
If it dosen't work with the other components of iLife 08 then I'll not but it. I'll wait until after Leopard is out in October and then buy a new iMac with Leopard and iLife 08 installed. Also by then the bugs in iLife 08 should also be documented and even some updates released..
    Anyone know?
    Thanks,
    Bob

Thanks Len and everyone who has provided input!!! I'm feeling much better that those of us who have older but still fine running macs with the ability to run leopard when it is released will still be able to use iLife 08 via iMovie 06.
Here is one final question before I mark this solved. I understand that when you install iLife 08 it leaves iMovie 06 intact. But does it upgrade the remaining components of iLife 06 to iLife 08? I have been in the habit of saving my current iLife suite as iLifeXX old and then doing an install of the new version of iLife. This way I would still have the old version to revert to and also have it available if I still had some old iMovie/iDVD projects that were still in the works.
It is very encouraging Len that you were able to successfully import an iMovie 06 project into iLife 08.
Just want to be sure before I do the install and all (except iMovie) of my iLife 06 apps have been replaced with iLife 08 apps.
Again, thanks for all the good news.

  • Does iMovie '09 work with a the Sony HDR-HC3E on a Macbook

I have a Macbook (2.2GHz Core 2 duo with 2Gb RAM), and someone has offered me a Sony HDR-HC3E camera. I have seen that there are various incompatibilities, but wondered if there was one with this combination.
Has anyone any experience with this hardware combination and achieved success?

    Hello, FulmerSR,
    Welcome to the discussions!
I looked up some specs on the CanonZR 700 for you, and this is what is stated:
The Canon ZR700 does allow for audio dubbing, analog to digital pass-through/i]
so you should be fine with it. Set it up just as you described, and you should be able to import from VHS to iMovie easily.

  • Does iMovie '09 work with 06 and 05 on your system?

    Hello.
I've posted this in the '09 forum with no answer yet...
I have iMovie '05 and '06 on my system and am thinking of installing '09 but I do NOT want to lose the other versions I have. Basically cause I have LOT of plugins that are not compatible with '09. Will '09 install alright without overwriting the other versions? Will I still be able to access '05 and '06 alright?
    Thanks much!
    Mike

    Thanks for the response...
Glad to hear that 06 wont be bothered but I have been using 05 with 10.5.8 with no problems. I must be one of the lucky ones...

  • Yes or No ... Does iMovie'11 work with LION ?

I've upgraded to it, but it can't even get it to import clips to start a project?! I also tried dragging clips to the Project Library. It won't open a project that I started in iMovieHD.
What I NEED to do is create a side by side video comparing old GoPro footage with the new GoPro2 and I believe I should be able to do this with iMovie'11

  • Does FCE HD 3.5 work with iDVD 06 which is in iLIFE 06?

I recently purchased FCE HD 3.5. My Mac is a PowerPC G4 which is a few years old. I need to purchase a new version of ilife because I just upgraded to Leopard 10.5 and need a version of ilife that works with leopard.I've been told that ilife 08 is too advanced for me computer and thus I will be purchasing ilife 06. My question is: Does Final Cut Express HD 3.5 work with iDVD in ilife 06? If anyone can answer this question, I would greatly appreciate it :O)
    Thanks!!

    Yes, it does.

  • Conversion App for mpg to avi (so it will work with iDVD' 08)

I need an app to convert my camera mpg movie clips to avi.
So it will work with iDVD 08.
    Not Quicktime Pro
( Can't upgrade without losing the pro features, so looking for an alternative )
Does any one know of an free app?
    Thanks

You might as well try MPEG Steamclip as it is free and often recommended here. Their manual says "Exporter features: from MOV, DV, AVI, DIVX, MP4, WMV, FLV, MPEG, MPG, VOB, (. . .and a number of others) to MOV, DV, AVI, DIVX, MP4"
I can't speak from personal experience as to whether it will work for your situation.

  • Does compressor 4 work with final cut pro 7?

does compressor 4 work with final cut pro 7?

WHile I'm not 100% certain (this has come up before and It's not convenient to test), I believe that purchasing Compressor will also allow you add additional codecs to your QT library.
    Russ
Yes, Compressor adds several codecs, which can also be used in FCE (decoding and encoding using QuickTime Conversion) and in QuickTime player. Most notably these are MPEG-2 and ProRes. The latter is an editing-friendly Intraframe-Codec useful for preprocessing stuff for importing clips to FCE, particularly if it has a different framerate from the FCE project.
I'm also still using FCE 3.5(*) and the "Export using Compressor" menu option remains grayed out, which is a pity, but the new codecs can still be used. I mostly use it to make stuff for DVDs, using my ancient and cumbersome iDVD.
(*) It really works on Lion, provided you have installed it on a previous Mac OS release and then migrated or upgraded to Lion: the installer is a PowerPC program, but the installed program is Universal and works fine and very stable. If you already have Lion, and no older (Snow) Leopard machine, it's going to be more of a challenge, since the Lion kernel no longer supports PowerPC binaries, so Rosetta won't work.

  • Does creative cloud work with windows 8

does creative clould work with windows 8?. I see windows 7 as a minimum requirement with no mention of windows 8

    lewis0,
    Welcome to Adobe Community .
Minimum requirements means that you have to have these as the minimum configuration to install the Adobe Products . You can surely go ahead and install the product on a windows 8 PC and it should work fine.

  • Does apple tv work with hdmi to VGA hd15 cable?

I have a Phillips tv and there is no hdmi to hdmi connection. But there is a VGA 15 input. Does apple tv work with it? I seem to be getting a black screen.

I tried hard. Four different manufacturers, including Belkin, none of HDMI to VGA works with rMBP. However, all of them work with other sources, like Dell notebook.
HDMI directly from rMBP to HDMI intput works fine.
