Does iMovie and iPhoto not come preloaded on the iMac

I thought these apps were preloaded as part of the software when i bought the computer

Contact iTunes Support (http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/) and give them your Apple ID and the serial number of the computer and they should be able to get it taken care of.
Interesting - I hope that works for the OP as the license for any app or OS obtained at the app store is not transferable and that includes previously/originally installed iLife apps. Once they've been accepted, the new/second owner needs to purchase them - did Apple change the terms (please post a link if you have one)?

my iphone 4 screen went black and will not show anything on it, the phone still vibrates and lights up but the screen is black, HELP.

I have a similar problem.  I restored my iPhone 5 to the latest available OS.  After completing the process the phone never restarted.  The phone was fully charged when I restored it but now refuses to charge past the red battery icon.  I have been able to get the phone in UFD mode several times and have been able to load the new OS on the phone.  The Apple logo does come on and the software fully loads.  iTunes tells me the phone will restart but never does.  I left it to charge all night but it never appeared to load the battery.  This morning I went to the Grand Central Terminal apple store for help.  A woman at the store plugged the phone in but it never charged.  She absolutely refused to believe that I got my phone in UFD mode and loaded any software on.  I don't think it is a battery issue.  The only solution I was given was to buy a new phone.  Repairing it was out of the question.  At this point the phone is completely useless.  Thanks in advance for the help.

  • Imovie and iDVD not come with Leopard?

My purchase of Leopard did not load iMovie or iDVD. I did an erase and install option.
I got iTunes and iCal, etc. but not the others.
Is this standard or did I load up wrong?
    anybody know yet?

This isn't a mistake. Leopard is the operating system.
iPhoto, iMovie, iDVD, and Garageband have always been part of a separate product called "iLife". When you purchase a new Mac, you get a copy of Leopard and a copy of iLife. If you choose to upgrade the operating system or iLife, you do so separately.
iTunes is distributed with the OS, but it's also free to download and generally treated as an independent product in its own right.

  • GarageBand, iMovie and iPhoto not accepted after reinstallation of Mac OS X

I have a macbook pro with operating system Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5. After I reinstalled mac OS X, I can't get back to my iLife apps. When I follow the instructions - going to app store:
Authenticate with your Apple ID and password.
    Select the “Purchases” tab.
You should see the iLife suite appear in the “Accept” section. You can download it free of charge.
At this point I get a message box with: "those apps cannot be accepted on this machine". What do I do now? Grateful for answers!

  • TS1702 I cannot open iMovie and do not want to reinstall the ap as I have five finished movies within it and would therefore lose about ten hours of work putting them together. The app crashes every time I try to open it. Any ideas?

I Cannot open iMovie ad the app keeps crashing. I don't want to reinstall as I will loose all of the work (I have spent about ten hours setting up five movies).

Try double-clicking the Home button to bring up the recent Apps tray. Touch and hold on the iMovie icon til it shakes and a "-" appears the the upper left corner. Touch the "-" to remove iMovie.
    See if it opens.
If not try restarting and/or resetting your iPad:
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after the iPad shuts down, then press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds).

  • I can't download garageband, iMovie and iPhoto because it says that the apps were already assigned to another apple id

I reinstalled the mac os and when I open the app utility, it shows that I have these three apps ready for download.  I sign in with my apple id, but the dowload is blocked because it says that they have been assigned to another apple id.  This probable refers to the previous owner.  Apple support (phone) stated that after the reinstall, the apps should be available to me.  Any ideas anyone?

It certainally is a mess.  The other previous owners Apple ID is associate with the Mac, and best buy just reboxed it without checking anything apparently.  I would call them and complain and see what they say.  Also, call AppleCare and tell them you recieved incorrect information last time you called.  They have a record of the last time you called and why.  They need to help you.  This is not your fault.

  • How do I update iMovie and iPhoto? it tells me "To update this application, sign in to the account you used to purchase it."

I have been trying to update imovie and iphoto but i keep getting the same message and dont know how to go about it. Help please!

You obviously haven't bothered to read the software license agreement that covers iPhoto.
    It states exactly what I have been explaining to folks that you now come along and contradict;
    http://www.apple.com/legal/sla/docs/iPhoto.pdf (underlining mine)
    B. If you obtained the Apple Software preinstalled by Apple on Apple-branded hardware, in order to use the Apple Software on more than one of the Apple-branded computers you own or control under the Mac App Store Product Usage Rules, you must log in to the Mac App Store and associate the Apple Software with your Mac App Store account. If you choose not to associate the preinstalled Apple Software with your Mac App Store account, you are permitted to install, use and run one (1) copy of the Apple Software on a single Apple-branded computer at any one time. Please also note that by choosing to associate the preinstalled Apple Software with your Mac App Store account, you will also associate any other Apple software applications (i.e., iMovie and GarageBand) that are provided to you as part of the same preinstalled application bundle.
You have been lucky, because they realized that you were not intelligent enough to work with logically or to understand the license agreement, the Apple employees likely gave you these redemption codes to get rid of you. I seriously doubt that Apple is going to make a policy and give every user redemtion codes because they fail to read the terms of use and fail to associate their iLfe apps to their Apple ID correctly.
There is no bug. It works this way by design.

  • Why can't I download iMovie and iPhoto?

    Hello,
After upgrading to Yosemite I found that Internet connection was slow, and dodgy, so I took it to the Apple Store and re-installed Mavericks
Internet worked fine, it was fast again, etc.
I tried to open iMovie and iPhoto
    Not there
    I checked in Launchpad
    Not there either.
I checked on the App Store.
    Yup.
    $19 for iMovie
What is this? I was using iMovie and iPhoto before Yosemite, but now I can't use it.
I shouldn't lose my Apps because Apple made a dodgy update

I don't think it's a dodgy upgrade, a handful report issues with their Mac and millions have no issues whatever. It works perfectly here.
If you had the iLife apps before, they should be listed in your account in the Purchases pane for download. However, the Mac App Store usually carries the most recent version. The most recent version doesn't run on Mavericks. You should always make a backup of your Mac, especially before something so major as an OS X upgrade. Then you would have the Mavericks versions to restore to your Mac again running Mavericks.
Not sure what you can do at this point.

  • The application called VirusScan that comes preloaded on the macbook will no longer open, claiming that it is corrupt and that I must reinstall it.  After looking in the app store it does not appear that said application is available for re-downloading.

The application called VirusScan that comes preloaded on the macbook will no longer open, claiming that it is corrupt and that I must reinstall it.  After looking in the app store it does not appear that said application is available for re-downloading. Is there a special, non-app store place where I am to go for this?
Also, I installed MacKeeper about two-three months ago and am questioning its performance. Looking for input as to whether or not this application helps or hinders my system.

I'll back up Csound on the MacKeeper thing.  In fact, I actually wrote the following about it:
    http://www.reedcorner.net/news.php/?p=245
Remove is ASAP.  Do not use the provided uninstalled, as there are widespread reports of pop-ups advertising MacKeeper on your system after incompletely removing it.  Try this:
    http://applehelpwriter.com/2011/09/21/how-to-uninstall-mackeeper-malware/
As for VirusScan, Barney is right on the money that it does not come preinstalled on any Mac shipped new from Apple.  However you have gotten it, your best bet is removing it.  See my Mac Malware Guide for more information that will help you understand and avoid Mac malware without relying on anti-virus software.

  • Imovie and iPhoto is not free!!!

I can't download the iMovie and Iphoto on my ipad air, i tried to register and erase my ipad air but it didn't work. any suggestion??

New devices activated after Sep 1, 2013 and running iOS 7 or later will qualify for the free iWork suite (Pages, Keynote, & Numbers). iPhoto, and iMovie (which are not part of iWork) are also free. If you activated your device before Sep 1, 2013, your device does not qualify.
    Try this:
Go here to verify your device registration (you'll need to login using your Apple ID credentials):
    https://supportprofile.apple.com/
You can view your registered device(s) here and if there are any you've missed registering, you can do that as well. You can also register new devices here. Afterwards, visit the App Store and your free apps should be available to you.
*IF* this does not work, continue as follows:
Log out of the iTunes Store on your device:
Settings>iTunes & App Store...tap your Apple ID, then select "Sign Out"
    Reset your device:
    Device Reset (won't affect settings/data/music/apps/etc)
    1. Press and hold (& continue to hold) BOTH the Sleep/Wake button & the Home button.
    2. Continue to hold BOTH (ignoring any other messages that may show) until you see the Apple logo on the screen.
    3. Release BOTH buttons when you see the Apple logo and allow the device to boot normally.
After the device has restarted, sign back in to the App Store as above. Try to download the apps again from the App Store.

  • TS3742 I have an iMac 24" system. I just recently installed MAC OS X 10.7.4 (Lion) on my system. Since doing so, my system consistently hangs. Particularly when using iMovie and iPhoto.

I have an iMac 24" system. I just recently installed MAC OS X 10.7.4 (Lion) on my system. Since doing so, my system consistently hangs. Particularly when using iMovie and iPhoto. I have to power off my system to get it running again. Any suggestions on what I can do  to address this situation.

I would first reset the SMC:
Shut down and unplug the Mac.
Keep the Mac unplugged for at least fifteen seconds.
Plug the Mac back in and do not turn it back on for at least five seconds.
Press the power button to turn the Mac back on.
Then I would reset the PRAM by rebooting the iMac while simultaneously holding the Command-Option-P-R keys until the machine restarts a second time.
Let us know if these  procedures don't solve the problems.
    Hope this helps

I'm not sure I can make sense of this but without asking too many questions, you can resolve your question by contacting iTunes direct.
Apple - Support - iTunes - Contact Us
But they will be wondering about the reference to hacking and you feeling bad about getting something for free.
Best step in my view is to make sure you don't get similarly involved in future.  You must know roughly what you were doing.   Then writie it off to a not to be repeated experience.
