Does Indesign CSS work on VISTA or not?

Does Indesign CSS work on VISTA or not?

By CSS, you mean CC? or CS6? or CS5.5?
The Indesign CC Tech Specs say only Windows 7 and Windows 8.
http://www.adobe.com/products/indesign/tech-specs.html
Indesign CS6 was not supported in Vista either (CS5.5 and earlier were OK)
http://helpx.adobe.com/x-productkb/policy-pricing/system-requirements-indesign.html
It may still be made to work on Vista but it's untested by Adobe and not a supported configuration.

    does McAfee siteadvisor work with Firefox - if not, why not? Is there a way to make it work?

    No, it is blocklisted by Mozilla due to that Site Advisor extension being the #2 cause of crashing the Firefox 5.0 betas. McAfee was notified of the problem long before that extension was added to the blocklist. Now it is up to them to fix it. <br /> https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/blocked/
    I have read that McAfee is working on a re-written version that is projected to be available in the 3rd week of July.

  • SanDisk ImageMate works on Vista, but not on Leopard

    I bought an iMac when my old Windows XP machine from Dell died last Christmas, and am mostly very pleased with it. I used Boot Camp to install Vista Home Basic on it also, because I still needed to run some Windows software.
    I recently acquired a digital camera from my daughter, along with a SmartMedia card reader by SanDisk (model SDDR-55 ImageMate). On the SanDisk website I found a driver for Windows that would work for 95, 98, ME, 2000, and XP. I downloaded it after not finding one for Vista listed. Similarly, there was a driver that would work for Macintosh OSX and OS 10.1. I downloaded it after not finding one specifically for Leopard.
    I installed both drivers under their appropriate OSes and plugged the ImageMate into a USB port on the computer. What I found was that it worked fine under Vista but was not recognized at all by Leopard. I contacted SanDisk and they had me verify that it was not a problem with the USB port. Also, they had me try to install it on another Mac (my daughter has a Mac laptop running Leopard) and it didn't work there either. So I know the ImageMate works and the USB port works.
    SanDisk then suggested I contact Apple. Is there anything I can do to get the ImageMate working on Leopard?
    One thing I noticed was that when I ran Terminal and went to /System/Library/Extensions and looked at a couple of files created during the install on the Mac, the owner and group were different from all the other files, so I made them match the others thinking file ownership might be the problem. Alas, it was not. (I did the install while logged in as admin.)
    Can anybody point me in the direction of what to do next?
    Thanks in advance,
    Sherry

    Many thanks to both of you for responding. My guess is that my ImageMate is getting old and SanDisk isn't going to help support it. I'm sure they'd rather I replace it by buying one of their newer models.
    One of my lesser attractive qualities is that I am cheap, and hate to throw away anything that still works. Since this little doobie still does (under Vista), I'll probably limp along with it there until I can't stand it anymore and buy a new one. I appreciate learning that some require drivers and some don't: that will help when it comes time to buy a replacement.
    Neither here nor there, but this is the 2nd device I've had difficulty with getting to work on Leopard but not on Vista (the other being my HP PSC 1315xi printer/scanner/copier).

  • UserChrome.css works on XP but not on Windows 7

    Hello.
    I have modified userChrome.css which mainly fiddles with tab widths based on if it is selected or not. This works fine on XP but does absolutely nothing on Windows 7.
    Any idea where to start looking the reason for this? What is different in Win7 regarding dealing with tabs?

    Nevermind, turns out that FF just didn't close properly when I was editing that file, after forcing it to close using taskmanager and starting again that userchrome.css worked just fine. Bug in closing the FF in this case.

  • Why does the counter work in MAX, but not Labview?

    Please help, I have been away from Labview for over 3 months, and I am quite rusty....
    Last year, I successfully configured NI9401 to measure period (seconds) by counting the rising edges of my sensor signal.  Since then, I have aquired a new PC, and loaded all my software into it, including the Labview VI's that successfully worked on the old computer.
    I can see the digital signal using MAX and the test panel for the NI9401, so, I know my wiring and my TTL signal is OK, but, when I try to run the attached VI, nothing happens except the error below..  How do I tell this VI to look for the signal on MOD3/CTR0 and channel 14?
    Thanks. I am sure it is a small adjustment...this worked fine a few months ago...not sure what is wrong now.
    Thanks,

    OK, now.  Resolved the issue. The vi is fine, but, some shaky wires were identified...worked in MAX but not in the vi.  Now that the connections have been tightened up, it works for both.  Sorry for the inconvenience.

  • ITunes sharing works for Vista but not XP on the same network

    So all the basic settings are right under Edit->Preferences to share and seek shared music on the network.
    Here's the topology:
    A - Vista Laptop (wireless)
    B - XP Service Pack 2 Laptop (wireless)
    C - XP Service Pack 2 Desktop (wired)
    A can see C
    C can see A
    C can see B
    A can see B
    B can't see anything
    Since the other machines can see B I'm lost... can you help?

    After digging and reading since I posted this question, I finally found the issue. My Cisco VPN client was set to stateful firewall (always on). When I turned off this setting, all machines worked for iTunes sharing. The Vista box was coincidentally working because the Cisco VPN client 4.6 didn't work on Vista.

  • How does this CSS work?

    I will admit I don't know a lot about CSS, but this has me
    stumped.
    http://www.csszengarden.com/?cssfile=186/186.css
    What I want to know is how do the graduating colour headings
    work - like the
    one that says Road to Englightment? It is text, as it can be
    copied and
    pasted, but there is also an image at work.
    Can anyone explain it to me in really simple terms :-)

    Youll have to expalin a bit more. Its a background image in
    an h3 tag:
    http://www.csszengarden.com/186/enlightenment.gif
    Heres the code
    <h3><span>The Road to
    Enlightenment</span></h3>
    Heres the css:
    h3 span {
    display:none;
    The span doesnt display in the browser but the image does.
    Search engine
    spiders can access the text but not the image, that why this
    technique
    is used.

  • Does Audigy 4 Work on Vista

    I can't get my Audigy 4 to work reliably on my Vista Ultimate 64 bit machine and I'm wondering if the problem affects everyone with this combination.
    I've tried all the different driver versions I can find and in every case I get the following problem.
    The driver installs OK and the sound is fine when it works. (i.e. I get 5. sound that sounds great with all channels working normally)
    At random intervals, the sound starts crackling. After a while the crackling gets worse and starts to sound distorted. The distortion makes everything quieter and echo a lot. Some time after this I lose all sound: there's just silence.
    Some things seem to reset the sound and the cycle starts again. e.g. reloading a save game or restarting a game.
    The problem makes games unplayable. e.g. in Medieval Total War II the sound will last from 5 to 20 minutes before dying. Restarting the game fixes the problem. Company of Heroes does it too but simply loading a game will fix it.
    The same hardware worked absolutely under Windows 2000. It doesn't matter whether the on board sound is disabled or not. The on board Realtek sound works just fine. (But sounds rubbish compared to the Audigy 4)
    I've been waiting for a year for a decent driver but no luck.
    My question for everyone is "do any of you run an Audigy 4 on Vista 64 without problems". I'm wondering if the problem is related to my hardware even though it all works under Windows 2000.
    I'm using a Gigabyte GA-K8N Pro-SLI mBoard (NForce 4 SLI) and an nVidia 7800 GTX graphics card. I'm using the latest nVidia drivers for everything. Please note that I'm talking about an Audigy 4 not an Audigy 4 Pro.
    Thanks

    None of the problems you describe here,
    A8N-SLI SE, x2 3800+ (@2600 Mhz), X950 Pro, Audigy 4 (same as yours), Vista Ultimate 64 w/SP
    using this driver (best one for me so far),
    http://forums.creative.com/showthread.php?t=2700
    never had anything like you describe both before and after installing SP. One thing that I do know about Vista is that when you uninstall drivers they are never truly gone, Vista keeps a folder with all previous driver versions. have a look through your "System32\DriverStore\FileRepository" folder for any folders named "wdma_emu.inf", and I will bet you will find several of them.
    If you find you have a few of them in there and want to try the drivers linked above (if you haven't already), uninstall your current driver and then delete all those wdma_emu.inf folders. One thing you will need to take ownership of them before deleting. The easiest way to do that is to copy and paste the following,
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shell\runas]p"
    "NoWorkingDirectory"=""
    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shell\runas\command]keown /f \"%\" && icacls \"%\" /grant administrators:F"
    "IsolatedCommand"="cmd.exe /c takeown /f \"%\" && icacls \"%\" /grant administrators:F"
    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell\runas]p"
    "NoWorkingDirectory"=""
    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Directory\shell\runas\command]keown /f \"%\" /r /d y && icacls \"%\" /grant administrators:F /t"
    "IsolatedCommand"="cmd.exe /c takeown /f \"%\" /r /d y && icacls \"%\" /grant administrators:F /t"
    into Notepad and save it as TakeOwnership.reg. Once saved double click on it to add it to the registry. Then go back to those wdma folders, right click on each and select Take Ownership, now you can delete them. Then install the drivers.

  • F4580 - WiFi works on Vista but not XP???

    Just bought a F4580 as needed WiFi (old PSC 1410 still working OK). Have installed onto Vista laptop, fine. Have failed 4 times to get it onto XP laptop despite reaching the stage of recognising the printer on the network and printing the test page, then freezing at 38% saying 'Hardware Problem' "The data is invalid"??? (it does install OK via USB, of course)
    I have been through all the 'fixes' on HP website and same result.
    Anyone any idea why it gets so close then dies on me? PLEASE.

    Let's add the printer manually since it appears the software is already installed for your USB connection.
    Verify that you can browse to the printer's internal web page by typing its IP address into a browser.
    1. Click "Start" button --> Printers and Faxes.
    2. Under Printer Tasks, click "Add Printer".
    3. Click "Next" button on the Add Printer Wizard window.
    4. Select "Local printer attached to this computer". Deselect "Automatically detect and install My Plug and play printer". Click "Next".
    5. Under Select a Printer Port option, select "Create a new port" and select "Standard TCP/IP Port" and click "Next" button.
    6. In the "Welcome to the Add Standard TCP/IP printer port wizard" make sure that the printer is turned on and connected to same network that your computer is connected to. Click "Next" button.
    7. Under "Add Standard TCP/IP Printer Port" enter the printer's IP address. Click "Next" then click "Finish".
    8. Now, select HP from the list of manufacturers, select your printer from the list of Printer models and click 'Next' button.
    9. If you can't find your printer, you'll need to find the install CD and use the "Have Disk" option to select one of the hp*.ini files. Alternatively, you can select another HP printer model from the same type.
    10. Add the print spooler name and click "Next".
    11. Click "Next"
    12. Click "Next" and then "Finish"
    Say thanks by clicking "Kudos" "thumbs up" in the post that helped you.

  • MPEG-2 playback audio syncing issue (works in Vista but not in OS X)

    My setup:
    - Mac Mini CoreDuo 1.83GHz, 1 GB RAM
    - Elgato EyeTV 410 DVB-T
    - Sony KDL-46W2000 FullHD LCD-TV (1920x1080p)
    I have a rather complicated problem with audio-video synchronization at MPEG-2 playback. I've spent a lot of hours on troubleshooting in the last weeks without coming up with a solution.
    I've installed Vista using Bootcamp on my Mac Mini, and in Vista everything works fine, so it's definitely a problem in OS X and not a hardware issue.
    I have a Mac Mini CoreDuo 1.83GHz 1GB RAM. I have done a reinstall of OS X and updated it in Software Update until Software update says my "computer is up to date". So it's completely fresh without any third party software.
    As display I'm using my brand new Sony KDL-46W2000 FullHD LCD-TV connected via a DVI-HDMI cable. I don't have to do any custom settings for this display. OS X outputs 1920x1080 progressive without me having to do any additional settings.
    The issue is that when I watch DVDs the picture is delayed on the screen about 200 millisec compared to the audio. This isn't the case on all DVDs, but on several DVDs that I've tested. I don't know the differences between the DVDs. It's the same problem if I use VLC to playback so it's not just Apple DVD Player. And it doesn't matter if I use the S/PDIF output to let my receiver decode the audio or if I use the internal speaker in my Mac Mini.
    Now to the most interesting part...
    In addition to DVD playback problem, I experience the exact same problem with Elgato's EyeTV. But ONLY when using their deinterlace method "Progressive scan". If I use "Always" or "Motion-adaptive" the audio and video syncs just fine.
    If I playback other media-files (in Quicktime or VLC) like mov, H264/x264 or XviD everything works just fine and as expected.
    As far as I can see the problem only seems to affect MPEG-2 playback. And judging on the troubleshooting with EyeTV deinterlacing and/or progressive scan seems to be involved in some way.
    I also tested EyeTV on a PowerBook G4 connected to my TV, and it shows the exakt same problem.

    I don't know what causing the problem, but if you play the files with VLC you can adjust the audio synchronization in its "Audio" preferences if you check the "Advanced" box at the bottom-left.

  • How does linked CSS work in Word 2010?

    I'm trying to figure out how to work with the "linked CSS" feature in Word 2010. Can someone who has used it give me advice?
    I'm somewhat hampered by being unable to find any documentation for the thing, but it seems to me that I should be able to use it like this:
    With a document open, select File > Options.
    Select the Add-Ins tab.
    In the Manage dropdown, select Templates, then click Go.
    Select the Linked CSS tab.
    Click Add, select a CSS file, and click Open. Word adds the CSS file to the "Linked style sheets" list.
    So far, so good. But now it seems to me that Word should be able to apply the styles defined in the style sheet, and that doesn't seem to happen.
    I've added a style sheet that looks like this:
    outrage {
    line-height:400%;
    If I set a paragraph to the style outrage, it should acquire the properties of the
    outrage style rule. But it doesn't.
    I tried labeling the style rule as p.outrage to clarify that it's supposed to be a paragraph style (actually I tried that first), but it didn't make any difference.
    Have I missed some necesssary step here? Or have I simply misconstrued what "linked CSS" files are supposed to do?

    Hi,
    If we want to apply an external CSS stylesheet to the current document in Microsoft Word 2010. We may save your Word document as 'Web page (*.htm; *.html) first. We can't apply a css stylesheet to a .docx file directly as it's not html.

  • How does renaming styles work...or not?

    I wanted to change my RoboHelp style names from the hodge-podge that has grown up over the years to something cleaner.
    I expected that when I changed the style name in the Styles dialog, RoboHelp would obligingly scan through all the html topics and change the old style name to the new style name.
    That did not happen. The name is changed in the list in the Styles dialog and in the Styles and Formatting pane, but remained the same in the HTML.
    1) I assume this is the intended behavior and that Robohelp somehow keeps track of old style name that corresponds to new style name? Is that the way it works? Or did I miss a step somewhere that would have triggered the scan + replace I was expecting?
    If the names are not replaced in html, I don't want to rename the styles, since that would mean I would have to mentally translate between old name and new name every time I wanted to work directly in html, an impossible situation.
    But assume that some day I will have plenty of time and actually be able to go through the entire project and change the style names both in the html and in the UI:
    2) Does that mean I would need to use find and replace to change all the style namess in html?
    Just trying to figure out how it is supposed to be done.
    Thanks,
    John

    LOL, nahhh. What could possibly go wrong?
    I once heard of a gentleman that was demonstrating all the wonderful new features of his new word processor. To demonstrate, he showed his guest how with a few deft clicks and keystrokes, all A's were changed to E's. And with another few clicks and keystrokes, he could easily revert by changing all the E's back to A's. (Including, of course, all the E's that were E's to begin with. )
    Cheers... Rick

  • Does InDesign CS3 work on Mac OS X Lion?

    I have installed the Adobe CS3 Design Premium (from original package discs) on my iMac but I am unable to open the applications (with an exception of PS) and get "the application has unexpectedly quit" notification. I was able to use all applications with no problem in my old mac laptop a few years ago. Does anyone know whether this is a compatibility issue with Mac OS X Lion 10.7.5 and if Adobe offers any solutions? The Customer Service says this is a technical issue (so they cannot help) and suggests that I seek help here but I had no luck so far. I already confirmed on another forum that this is not an installation issue and was suggested to seek help in program-specific forums. Thanks!

    You won't get any kind of official statement that CS3 works on Lion, but Rick says he has it running, so there is potential. The problem you face is there was no testing or program modification for CS3 in order to run on Lion, so you're on your own (with any help you might find here from someone who is successfully doing what you want to do). Your problems are most likely due to some other software you also have installed.
    As to why Windows has better OS backward compatibility than Mac, that's a difference in corporate philosophy -- Microsoft has a larger enterprise-scale customer base and they want programs to continue to run, and they're more likely to vote with their wallets.

  • Vision M 30GB works in Vista but not XP

    So, my Vision M no longer will detect in Windows XP SP3. I think it started happening after I upgraded the firmware it says version 0.22 in revovery mode, so I'm assuming that's correct. Everything works great on it on Vista still, but my main computer is running XP. Is there an easy fix to this problem other than upgrading to Vista?
    Basically, what happens is this:
    I plug in the MP3 player, the XP detects it and installs the driver, then it says there's a problem with the device it just installed. Afterwards, the Vision M shows up in device manager with an exclamation point next to it and I'm unable to access it through XP.
    Please help!
    Thanks in advance...

    I actually was able to fix it by installing the Microsoft User-Mode Driver Framework Feature Pack (I found this suggestion randomly on another forum since it seems to be a common problem), so thankfully I didn't have to format. Thanks for the help though.
