Does Intel iMac read/write the mini DVDs

I just want to know if the slot loading DVD/CD in the Intel iMacs handles the small 3 inch Discs? I don't want to insert the small disc and then find out that it can't handle them like the tray loading drives.
Thanks

A friend wants to send me several DVDs worth of files on "double-layer DVDs". Can I read them?
    I have a Intel iMac (dual processor) with a MATSHITA DVD-R UJ-846 CD/DVD Drive.
I don't want my friend to go through this and then I can't read them. Especially since he makes it out like double-layer DVDs are maybe new or advanced?
    Huh? Anyone?

Can my Intel iMac read double-layer DVDs?
    Yes.
What are double-layer DVDs as opposed to regular ones, anyways?
These DVDs contain a second writable layer, which doubles the DVD's capacity.

How come I (the Admiistrator) can Read & Write the majority of my Pages archives but not write on random paragraphs?

So what happens when you try to edit this information?
    For example:
    You have a document...

  • Are intel iMacs compatible with the M9177B/A cinema display

Are intel iMacs compatible with the M9177B/A cinema display please?

That Display has DVI input. So if you have a 2009 iMac with MiniDisplay port output as your profile suggest's...?
Then you will need a > Mini DisplayPort to DVI Adapter - Apple Store (U.S.) and maybe a DVI cable if one is not with the monitor.

  • File transport does not have read/write privileges for receive location???

    Hi all.
I try to read an EDI-file from a file location.
In configured the receive location but when I enable it I get an error message in the log saying:
File transport does not have read/write privileges for receive location "Location"  (Event ID: 7183)
The location is correct (I used the browse option) and the folder is shared with all users (full access for everybody).
How can I get rid of this error

There can be many reasons for this error. First of all try the KB article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/888498 . Then try the solution on this link http://bluebiztalk.blogspot.com/2008/05/file-transport-does-not-have-readwrite.htmlAbdul Rafay

  • Destination u have specified does not have read/ write access- FCP 7 to Compressor problem!

    Hello everyone,
I finally got a video finished in FCP 7, and sent it to Compressor.
When I try to add a templete (any template, but particularly the Youtube), I get a red || Source    ! || message and when I hit the submit button I see: "The destination you have specified does not have read/ write access. Check to see if the folder is set to read-only, or check your write privileges."
    What the?
I'm using Apple ProRes 422 files.
I tried looking at the video files themselves, with Control + I. It looks like I have "Read & Write" access to me. I'm not sure what to do.
I also tried looking in my preferences for Final Cut Pro stuff, and it was empty, so nothing to erase. I also repaired disk permissions with the Utility application.
    Well, thanks for any help.

I haven't tried to save to any directory.
As soon as I send the sequence from Final Cut to Compressor, I am prompted to drag the settings to the destination... but it won't let me submit it for the "read/ write" reasons above.
So I never get the opportunity to save it, I just close out Compressor and go back to Final Cut Pro.
I'm wondering if it has something to do with the scratch disk files. I converted the MOV files into ProRes files and keep them in my documents, then I just dragged and dropped them into the browser. I'm wondering if somehow this is affecting things, because I can't even find a scratch disk folder with files inside.
I also tried to look at my Final Cut Pro preferences file, but I had no idea what I was looking at so I just left it alone.
I really appreciate this by the way.

  • How to programmatically read/write the range of a fieldpoint AI channel using LV

Is there a way to programmatically read/write the range of a fieldpoint AI channel using LV ? The example on NI site only permit you to have the name of the device and channels, not the actual set of the range of measure. Anybody has a VI (LV5.1 please)to share?
    Thank you very much

If you are using the FieldPoint VI's (Open, Create Tag, Read, Write, Advise), you do not have the ability to change the range of a channel. If you have a FP-1000 or FP-1001, you can use the Optomux commands as described in the FP-1000/1001 Programmers Reference Manual (FieldPoint Optomux VI's are available at ftp://ftp.ni.com/support/fieldpoint/LVFPOpto/ ).
Alternatively, if you have an ethernet network module and LabVIEW 6i or later, you can use the ethernet configuration VI's that ship with FieldPoint Explorer 3.0.1.

  • Can the iMac dvd drive read or accept mini-dvds/cds? thanks

Can the iMac dvd drive read or accept minid-dvds/cds? Thanks

Don't even attempt it. It won't work, and the disk will just get stuck in the drive's mechanism. If you want to use mini-disks, you'll need an external tray-loading optical drive.

  • 17" combo drive Intel iMac- is this the right external DVD drive to get?

Earlier in the week, I bought a refurbished 17” white Intel iMac from the Apple Store. It came without the Superdrive, only the combo drive.
As this will be a holiday gift for a niece with small kids, I thought being able to burn DVD’s using iDVD would be nice for her. I understand she can attach an external FW DVD drive to do this, and I just want to make sure to give her the right info for buying in case she wants it (she has someone that can put it together for her)-
DVD Drive: PIONEER DVR-112, from here, $32.90 (from ‘lakewoodlawnman’ in an earlier post) http://www.mwave.com/mwave/viewspec.hmx?scriteria=AA36700&RSKU=AA36700

Does this look okay? Do you think there will be any problems with it and the iMac 17-inch 1.83GHz Intel Core 2 Duo?
If you have any other suggestions, I’d appreciate it (these forums rock, btw!)
    Thanks!

I own 2 Pioneer 110-Ds that work with iDVD and over at ripdifferent.com there are several people that use the drive and enclosure I suggested and it works with idvd for them.
One of the 110s is in the same enclosure.

  • How do I use my Intel iMac to see the screen on my old G5

The screen on my old G5 is fading fast and I would like to connect it to my newer Intel iMac and use it's screen to be able to see what i'm doing. Is there a way to do that?

Fortunately I was just able to make out the Screen Sharing check box on my older Mac. As soon as I checked it and opened the file on the newer Mac there was the screen. Perfect. Thanks so much.

  • Does intel iMac ram have to be "matched" pairs?

    Hi,
I jsut got a 17" intel imac core duo and i have a 1gb memory module to go alongside the installed 512mb, my question is can i do this (1.5gb in total) or does it have to be 1gb x 2 or 512mb x2 as in the dual powermacs etc?

As others have stated, you would never notice the difference between matched 512s and the combination of 512MB and 1GB sticks. What you will notice is that your Mac will be able to run more apps at the same time, have more windows open, and run non-Intel native apps faster due to Rosetta's love of RAM.
Plus, you would have maxxed out one slot. If you add a single 512MB stick to what you already have, then the next time you go to upgrade - to get an upgrade worth doing - you will have to take that out and add RAM. If one slot is already at its maximum, then you will only have to replace the original 512MB stick.

  • Will an Intel iMac read transfers from a PowerMac?

I have over 3000 photos in iPhoto on my QuickSilver (2002). Can I transfer them to my Intel iMac? If so, how?
    Thank you

Yes. The easiest way would be to copy your iPhoto library to your Intel computer. You can do this any number of ways. The library will be located in your /Home/Pictures/ folder and should be named "iPhoto Library." In addition you may want to copy the /Home/Library/Preferences/com.apple.iPhoto.plist preference file as well.
    1. If you have an external hard drive or large enough USB flash drive you could copy the files to them and then transfer to your Intel computer.
    2. You can connect the two by Firewire cable and use Target Disk Mode to transfer the data.
    3. If you have a home network you can transfer the data across the network via File Sharing.
    4. You could burn the data to a CD or DVD to transfer from one to the other.
    5. If you have a high speed internet connection you could upload the data from the QS to one of the many online storage sites that offer some free storage (many offer at least 2 GBs without charge) then download from the same site to the Intel computer. You could do this via a .Mac account if you have one by using your iDisk.

  • How do I remove migrated PPC apps from Intel iMac that has the same apps?

Before I begin, please know that I've read a lot of previous posts but all the posts only had some of what I needed so I'm posting this as a new topic. OK, here I go:
My PPC running 10.5 just froze-up (that has since been solved) but in the process of solving that issue, I migrated everything as a different user (User B) INCLUDING my applications, to my Intel iMac - my iMac that also had the same applications on it - except they were intel versions and they were under User A.
So I essentially did an archive and clean install on my PPC.
Then, using Migration Assistant, I transferred User B onto my PPC. Now both of my computers have duplicates of most of my applications. In trying to fix this issue, I found out I should NOT have transferred my applications. So now I'm very confused as to which apps I should remove off my PPC and which I should remove off my intel iMac.
If I just delete User B from my intel iMac, that's easy enough but will that remove the dupes? I have a funny feeling it doesn't.
And then, which do I remove from my PPC?
AND THEN, are there other things I will need to remove from different places on my computer?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
And now, I've used migration assistant to move everything from user (B) back to my PPC. Now I have duplicate applications with "(from old mac)"

Normally application go in the Applications folder at the top level of the hard drive, not in any user folders. If you have applications in user folders that are the same as those in the Applications folder, you can delete them from the user folders. If you actually migrated PPC applications into the Applications folder on an Intel Mac, it would have replaced the Intel versions. To fix that, you would have to reinstall OSX on the Intel Mac.
The same thing would apply on the PPC Mac.

  • Why does my IMAC super drive recognize data dvd's but not movies?

My 27" Intel Imac recently stopped playing dvd movies. The drive still recognizes data disks but not movies. When I insert a dvd movie the drive makes noises for 30 seconds then eject the disk.

Have you changed region codes on movies?  It will only change for a total of 5 codes.
