Does iOS 8 FaceTime have audio conferencing or not?
In my searches on the internet for the audio conferencing feature in FaceTime, I find unofficial claims that it was to be included in iOS 8. And I see a button in the FaceTime interface to merge calls. But I have not found any explicit instructions on how to use this feature if it is in fact available. Is it? If so, what is the procedure to make us of it?
Same problem. I have tried to test FaceTime audio conferencing with two other patient iPhone 6 users (brother and sister) without success in the following steps.
1. We each turned off cell data and insured we had strong wifi.
2. I connected to one party and waited until the + icon appeared to dial in the second.
3. After connecting to the second party, the swap icon (horizontal S) was available so I could switch back and forth between parties, but the Merge icon (inverted Y) would not activate to bring all three of us together.
Has anyone had success with a three way conference call using FaceTime audio?

Yes it does, the iPhone 4 had this feature but when the iPhone 4S was originally launched it did not. After upgrading to iOS 6 you can now turn off 3G and therefore just use 2G. This saves battery life and can also help with ensuring a more reliable connection in areas with poor 3G coverage (i.e. the whole of the UK ).
You can access this option by going to Settings - General - Mobile Data and then turning Enable 3G to off. Depsite the accompanying text implying it relates to only data this does complete turn off 3G mode since both voice and data use the same transmitter. -
I have audio working, but not the microphone on my toshiba satellite
Hi there, I'm a newbie to the arch way, but I'm not a newbie to linux, however I'm pretty stumped with this one (I'm not used to having to look after everything, but I'm loving it!) I have a Toshiba Satellite C650D-10W, and it has a very annoying soundcard built into it. I have the sound working, thankfully, however I cannot get the inbuilt mic to function. Some info here:

one stupid pdf-file found on hp.com sais that the codec is ADI 1984AJCPZ High Definition CODEC, but I can't be sure...
i tried different model= parameters to snd-hda-intel module, but nothin helps
i can capture external jack-in microphone only if external jack-out is free (which is completely stupid for home audio studio experiencing)
internal phones are not mute automatically until jack-in freed (but i can easily mute them in alsamixer instead)

As far as I can see it only displays on some but not all in iOS 6.
Mac has the option to display every message in the event the time is important to know in some cases.
Also can you upload a profile pic in imessage iOS 6?Since you have unlocked GSM iPhone 5S, you will get all GSM services on any network including LTE.

Why does iOS 7 have so many problems? HELP ME
So when I downloaded iOS 7, everytime I opened an app a message would repeatedly pop up saying something about push notifications and to connect to iTunes.
So I connected to iTunes...no help.
I read on here to restore my phone and that it would solve the problem and as much as I didn't want to I restored my phone.
Now that I've restored my phone I can't download my back up back to my phone because iTunes can't connect to the iTunes store.
When I try to activate my phone manually it says the activation is invalid and won't let me activate.
What is wrong with iOS 7 and why did apple even make it avaliable for download with all these problems?
My phone has never been jailbroken and has stayed 100% legal so I dont see what the problem could possibly be.
If ANYONE has any way I can get a hold of apple to get this problem solved please tell me. Since my phone doesn't work anymore I can't call, so phone numbers will be of no help.Look in your settings at apps that refresh in the background, and turn off ones you dont need. Also apps need to be updated for teh new OS so there will be bugs. Turn off location settings you dont need. get to know the new OS. Personally I am getting quite good battery life, but I did do some adjustments.

Are you talking photos or videos? For stills you can use the magic wand or quick selection tools to select the green background. Then invert your selection so that your subject is selected. You can then place your subject on any background. If you mean video, you will find best advice over on the video forum. Most of us here are photographers.

Annoying Bug ('feature'), requiring video to have audio (or not) to import!!
There are several occasions where I'm in the middle of a job and I wish to change, say, a video. I have some other video that can directly overlay it. Premiere Pro CS3 (as opposed to older versions) will not let me relink a video in my project to another video unless they both either have audio, or do not.
Why?

I think I can make my own decisions based on if they have audio or not. 99% of the time, I don't use the audio in the clip as it it, so please stop failing my re-linking of a video based on if they both have audio or not. That's for ME to decide if it's "ok" to replace.
Just remove audio off the timeline if the video I relink to does not have it. Vice versa, do NOT put the audio on the timeline if it DOES have it and my original video did not. This is not difficult, this is expected behavior, and having to re-create videos so they match audio-wise is insanely counterproductive.Not true. In fact most of what you describe I was able to achieve. I tested it now and it worked fine. What exactly are you doing to relink a clip?
I already explained this but, no, it's not working for you, you must be doing something different entirely. Once my machine is done rendering in after effects I'll post a screenshot, but I already explained this. To reproduce this problem the steps are simple:
1. Import a video with mono audio
2. Place on timeline in any sequence
3. Right-click on the video in the Project Library, Make-offline
4. Right-click on the video in the Project Library, select link the video, choose
some other video clip with stereo audio, or no audio
You will get an error that the source video has a mono audio channel and cannot be replaced by a stereo (or no audio) clip. It will fail. Every time.
Then hold down ALT and replace the audio/video with a track from your bin.
This is an entirely different thing than what I'm doing. Replace clip is not my solution, and is limited as I posted about earlier.
This is natural of course. You cannot expect Premiere to match and keep internal In & Out points for clips that have different total durations. Also each clip has a different timecode In Point seperate from it's duration.

This is not the case, all the time. My
videos are identical. That is, exact resolution, exact time (down to the frame count), etc. The only difference is in the content in the video itself (text and visuals). They are an
identical video as far as the computer is concerned,
only differing in audio. And premiere things this is a good enough reason to refuse relinking.
And honestly, even if the duration differs, there are better ways of dealing with it than just outright failing. So what if the in and out points are out of range for a clip I'm replacing it with? Just use the 'video offline' effect or create a new visual indicator that the timestamps are invalid for the range, but
work for the
valid timestamp ranges. Then I can wholly replace clips easily with other clips to see which I like better, without making me re-create my keyframing effects.
Again, this is not my problem, I don't like or care to use replace clip. I am trying to RELINK files, which as you said, is a completely different thing. I am not confused, I have been using premiere for as long as anyone else here. This is a valid issue that older Premieres did not care about, and rightly so. -
ITunes New Release - Printing a playlist to my printer the header prints, but the song list all print in the same place. I am able to print from any other source. Does anyone else have this problem? Not sure if I should completely uninstall my ITunes and reload from scratch. Sure would appreciate any help you could provide as I really need to get some playlists printed now. Thanks - Scott
There is another discussion of this problem under "can't print cd jewel case inserts"--about 20 people on that page have the same problem.--I have a "band-aid" fix for anyone is in a hurry. When you go to print, choose the option "large playlist" (I think it is the last option). You can then print at least the songs that are on the playlist. Then, you can print a mosaic copy to get the album art work. Then you get out the scotch tape & tape them together! This is UNACCEPTABLE but it will do in a pinch. Someone on the other page suggests we all write in "itunes" feedback & complain.

I updated my IPAD2 to ios 7 and now it will not connect wirelessly or recognize my blue tooth devices
Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

Does quicktime still have to be divisble by four to run well?
I am creating a multi-screen display using two sets of two 20" samsung 1680 x 1050 monitors. The system will run on a custom built PC. The Quicktime movies will play at full screen across the entire width and height of 3360 x 1050.
I want to make sure before I purchase the screens that quicktime will run well - even though the 1050 height is not divisible by 4. Does this ring a bell? I HOPE it's no longer an issue!

1. Because I will be using my older G4 computer as the Host ( is this the correct term ) will my internet or wifi signal have less throughput ( is this the correct term ) then say if I used my new iMac as a host ?
Technically any network client that will share a resource with others on the same network would be deemed a "host" device. With the G4 connected by Ethernet it will NOT affect the throughput of the wireless network. Both your G4 & new iMac have Gigabit Ethernet ports which are significantly faster than that provided by the Linksys router ... so it would be the Linksys, not the G4 that would limit the maximum throughput.
2. I have set up this network with the G4 right next to the iMac to see how it would work and all was well ( except for the drop wifi issue, that I hope the new update has fixed ), however when the G4 is asleep it was not recognized in the network.
The short question is does the host have to be running ( not in sleep mode ) in order for it to be recognized in a network?

If so is there a way to wake it over the network.

3. I am using an older router a Linksys wireless - G 2.4 Ghz, can I use the newer Airport Extreme with the G4- 10.4 ?

Has anybody created VIs for generating BCH (Bose-Chaudhuri-Hochquenghem) error correction codes? I need to generate the codes for a 16 bit data packet. I've found samples in C on the web (http://www.eccpage.com/) but nothing in LV. Thanks, -dave
