Does iPad 2 keep IOS 7.1.1 update file after updating

Hi,
I have a iPad 2 and it's running out of storage after the recent iOS update to 7.1.1. Before updating I was asked for 3 GB space, and was barely able to delete enough stuff to make that much space for the update. Now I only have 1.7GB available after updating. My question is does my iPad 2 keep downloaded update file in its storage? If so, how do I delete it to reclaim some storage space?

If it's been inactive and you have it set in settings to shut down after a certain period of time, it will.
Try going into settings and changing this to your preference. If this is not the issue, adjust the settings anyways, then put back how you prefer. Sometimes turning a setting off, then back on can help
Aside from this you can do a restart. Press and hold the home and sleep button at same time until the apple logo appears. Or in settings > Reset> Reset all.

My ipad mini won't install ios7 until I "make room". Why doesn't it remove the older version first? I've never had this occur with my iPhones- just the mini. I've got it down to bare bones and it still wants me to remove stuff. Suggestions???

In order to download the new iOS your iPad has to be running. What's running is the old version of the iOS. So that cannot be removed first.
Copy off photos to your computer and delete all stuff like that from your iPad. You can put some of that back after the update.
I also recommend having plenty of free space for the iOS to run efficiently. 15-20% free space is a good idea.

The folder that they are in is in the correct order but when i add them to Ipad they are all mixed up. This is so annoying when i am trying show someone there Wedding Album in the correct order

So you will need to amend the date modified field on your computer and re-sync to get them into the order that you want - or use a third-party photo management app instead of Photos e.g. Photo Manager Pro which allows more control of your photo sorting within it e.g. by name, size, date, or you can drag them into a different order

Battery drain in ipad 2 since iOS 8.1.1 update

I recently updated my iPad 2 and iPhone 4s to the new iOS 8.1.1. Have noticed a significant reduction in battery life on my iPad ever since. I have turned off bluetooth, all notifications, reduced brightness. I've pretty much turned off all that I can to save my battery life. When I checked usage, the biggest usage factor is Safari at over 50%. The rest of the apps are marginal in usage. Went into Safari and unchecked a bunch of options. Any other suggestions? At this point, I'm regretting doing the update. I've also noticed lag on certain websites and dislike the new way Safari is presented. I use to be able to just x out of all screen. Now I have to click the double box and swipe left to get a blank screen. The favorites bar on the side is always there too. One last thing, my bar at the top minimizes when I'm on a web page and I have to click on it to get the option to go back, print,forward, etc.

OK, I've done the rounds on this one, whereby I'm just adding to the list of complaints so that (hopefully) the powers that be, or not, in my phones case, might listen.
Since updating my just over 12 month old 5s to 8.1.2, it has turned into a bag of spanners in respect of its battery life. Its literally gone from 24 or so hours between charges to less than 8 !!
I have tried shutting all the apps down and even had it sitting in full airplane mode, where i've left it alone with the screen off, yet its dropping around 1% every 3 to 4 minutes, blinding!! Checked battery usage in settings after 30 minutes, guess what standby 29 minutes usage 1 minute.
Also tried the full restore, but to no avail, still a bag of spanners!
(slight update here) Even took the SIM out with it in airplane mode and deleted all apps and a full reboot - same thing!
Does anyone remember the good old days of a fixed land line, where the phone had to be plugged into the wall before you could actually use it? lol
Nothing like a bit of retro ay, but some how I cant see this one catching on Mr Apple. Thanks

IPad Air since iOS 8: Apps not updating and downloading no longer possible. Fix?

This problem only really started in the past couple days. I can no longer update apps, cannot download books from the store in the books app and cannot download newspapers in my newsstand. Also, my Adobe reader for iPad open but shows a blank page for 15 seconds before closing and returning to my iPad home screen.
Previous to this, the first few days of iOS 8 did not give me problems, though I had not yet tested all of the above items but apps updated easily for first few days (until 22 sept). Is there a fix?

I read somewhere that you cannot downgrade to iOS7. I sure hope Apple is reading these because it is frustrating that I cannot get the books on their very own books store that I have paid for! More frustrating is not being able to download or update anything new.
I will point out that this is specific to iPad because my iPhone has no updating issues nor downloading issues (it is a new iPhone 6, so not sure if older models have problem).
I hope a full restore will not be necessary. The only saving grace to doing that is that I did a full backup right before upgrading to iOS8 so should have relatively minimal impact for me.....I think.

Which means it can't be done over 3G if you're trying it that way. And if your other internet connection isn't fast enough it will time out.
People have also had issues with their firewalls or anti virus software....the software detects the update file as a virus or malware (incorrectly of course) and blocks it. So you can also try disabling your firewall or anti virus and give it a try and see if that helps.

is it worth updating the 3rd gen iPad or iPad Mini or iPhone 4 to ios 6.0.1? I'm concerned about battery life and wifi issues, sharing/apple tv errors.... that i did not even update to ios 6. So is ios 6.0.1 a yes or no for you? and what problems have you encountered? (Please state which device you have updated). Your answers will help many like me who are....
Undecided whether to update or not.....

She has no idea on what to do as she isnt a developer (I'm not going to disclose her exact position).
I've tried to reset the content and settings and it restores it to factory default but it unfortunately still gives me the error. I'm going to try and install a beta version of ios 8 (thats still signed by apple) and see if that may work.
I'm debating on bring it into the apple store or not as that may be my only option.

Only if you restore the iPad from a backup .... And if the Notes and contacts are in the backup. So... Backup your iPad before you wipe it and then restore from the backup when you set it up again.
