I recently got given an ipad 2 with wifi and 3G. I was wondering if I have to go out and get my own sim for the 3G to work?

Unless you were given a verizon model, which does not use a sim.

That depends on how you bought the phone. A carrier linked phone will come with a sim card. An unlocked phone usually does not have a sim card.
Sim cards can be bought from your Cell carrier's stores. Apple does not sell sim cards.

GPS signals are separate from and completely unrelated to both the Internet and the cellular telephone network. GPS signals come directly from the GPS satellites. They provide signals that allow GPS receivers to calculate latitude and longitude information. Navigation software then takes that latitude/longitude info and converts it to land mass, roads, bridges, highways, buildings, etc.
Most navigation software stores the maps right in the iPad/iPod/iPhone but a disadvantage is that the maps must be periodically updated (perhaps once every two years). The Internet is not required to use the system but it is required to update the maps.
Some navigation software gets the maps from the Internet and requires an Internet connection to function but an advantage is that the maps are always up-to-date.
The WiFi+3G/4G iPad and the iPhone both have a GPS receiver. The WiFi-only iPad and the iPod do not and these devices require an accessory.

Why does the EarPods not come with the iPad?

Cause apple doesn't put them in.
This is just a user to user forum so none of us would know Apple's thinking. However they do need to classify portable devices (ipods and iphones) differently from iPads.

rafasreds1, what error are you getting? You do not need any dependencies. Just transfer the sis file to your phone, and install it. You will need to disable "Certificate Check" though - go to App. Manager, Settings, and disable it.

I spent 100 bucks on this thing. It would be nice to know if i need the cable to watch my TV. This thing just stopped working. I'm going to return this and go get the chrome cast (35 dollars and it works). This is a major pain to have to go out and buy one.

Apple doesn't supply the cable because only a handful of people ever need one and of those that do the vast majority will already have one.
For the overwhelming number of users who don't need or already have a cable this represents a saving when they purchase their Apple TV which of course then doesn't include the price of a cable.
For the very few users who do need to purchase a cable, they have lost nothing because they are only paying for something they would have had to pay for when they bought the Apple TV, if a cable was included in the box.

You can't download FaceTime. It is a preinstalled app. If you live an a country where it is restricted - that is why you do not have the app on the iPad.

The iPads here take a sim card. We were advised by an Apple Store Employee at home that this model would work in Europe and that we could buy our service here. That does not seem to be the case. We have been told that we must invest in a modem at 200.00€ and then purchase a separate service plan for each country. We can use the free wifi wherever it is available but we cannot connect to the outside world when out of range. Is there anything else we can do?

apple is not a carrier so does not sell simcards or give them away
if you change carrier you change sim card
if you change phone and keep the carrier you move the sim card to the new phone

My Iphone 4 does not come with a SOFTWARE UPDATE option.

My partner bought my iphone 4 version 4.2 about two years ago from a well known store. He got himself one at the same time but i cannot update mine because it does not come with an option in settings, general that allows me to update it. All of my apps are useless as they need at least iSO5 to run. I cannot check my bank accounts or anything. I have rung and spoke to apple many of times and followed all the steps to try and update. Cheap shot, Phil. Up to now, Mac users got no Organizer but a special bonus: full Bridge, full access to full featured ACR. With this version, both platforms get the same stuff -- it's less than full Photoshop/Bridge CS5, at a small fraction of the price.
I admit, as a Mac user who shoots RAW, I liked the old trade-off...but I can understand the desire to make the two products consistent. If that makes PSE "inferior" for you than you should stick with Bridge CS4/Raw 5.7, or move up to the full-featured siblings, or switch to Lightroom.
