  • I feel like a sucker. I bought an iPAD2 at Fry's where I was told by the salesman that the non 3-G version does have GPS. It does not have GPS.  Is there any way I can use the GPS on my Iphone or Garmin to display in my new mostly unuseable iPad2?

Is there anyway to input a live, real time  video feed into an iPad2? I would like to use it as a remote monitor for a microscope camera in electrophysiology. Our camera was designed to run off of an older Mac via a firewire connection.  The camera is SUPERB but the computers are dated.  The older  computers connected to an AC line are  electrically noisy.  I have worked out converting the signal from our camera to HDMI and/or USB2 but the iPad2 will not allow any input except via iTunes which is not real time, and requires several steps. Is it possible to use the only mostly useless iPad2 as the excellent portable DC driven display which it is?!!!  How do I get Apple to say anything but IGNORE, IGNORE IGNORE.  This would be a universal application in academics and all I think I need is permission from the iPad2. The original signal was designed for Apple hardware. They can have the patents. HELP?

My wifi only iPad 2 has GPS, and a compass/accelaerometer to determine which direction I am facing.  You need to enable location services.
Your wifi-only iPad does not have GPS. Read the specs for your device.

  • Does iPad2 have a GPS receiver?

Does iPad2 have a GPS receiver?

    Depends:
If its a Wifi only model, then no.
If its a Wifi + Cellular (3G) model then yes as the GPS chip is part of the Cellular hardware.

  • Does 2G have GPS ?

Does the iPhone 2G have GPS ?
The reason I ask is that in the Navigon Sat Nav app FAQ it says
it cannot be used with the 2G as it does not have GPS.
(I thought all iPhones had GPS ?)
    thanks
    Pete

    No.
The original iPhone is not a 3G network compatible phone and does not have a GPS receiver.
The iPhone 3G and 3GS have a GPS receiver.

  • Does ipad2 have a "show topsites" feature like the Macbook Pro?

Does ipad2 have a "show topsites" feature like the Macbook Pro?

No, Safari on the iPad is a fairly basic browser and with iOS 5 it now uses tabbed browsing and not the thumbnail/page view as on previous iOS versions (which only showed your open pages and not top sites).

  • Does iPad have GPS, or do I have to get an external dongle ?

Does iPad have internal GPS, or do I have to get an external dongle ?

OH, and by the way, do you know if the gps the iPads use is affected by the Wide Area Augmentation System (WAAS) ?
It would be nice to be able to get this info off the Apple web site, but I think it is the most user-unfriendly site I have ever seen.  Absolutely no answer to these questions, no matter what search terms I enter.  Hopefully, my first iPad experience won't be as user unfriendly as the people who manufatured it.

  • Does rezound have GPS

I am thinking of switching from a droid x to a rezound.
when i used GPS on droid x, it would ask if i wanted to use navigation or VZ navigator. navigation was free, I believe VZ navigator is a service you have to pay for.
I could also use google maps to star a location, the have GPS take me there.
can i do all this on the rezound? GPS, free navigation, google maps?
    thanks.

google nav (google maps) is pretty much free and standard on every android device out there
you can do that just fine on your rezound

  • Does ipad2 have any warranty for the screen?

Does ipad2 come with any warranty for the screen?

No if it was dropped Apple will replace it for half the price of a new one. Which thats good but at the sametime you pay all this money for their product and they still charge you. They should at least exchange it for a new one the first time for free.. Accidents do happen!!! But its still good that they do replace for half the price.

  • Does this have GPS or not?

I've been reading some other posts, all about the GPS and A-GPS or Assisted GPS, which basically assists the GPS receiver in aquiring your position quicker. So if that's the case, then how could a position be off by miles? That makes me think that it's not GPS at all, but rather going off cell towers and wifi signals. And what if I'm in an area where I have no cell covereage period? Can I find my position? And a side question, I'm asking all this because I want to be able to find my lat/lon at any patricular place. So I'm curious... if it is a true GPS, then why is there no way (that I have found) to obtain your lat/lon from a native iPhone app? I thought maybe the compass would, but I don't see it, unless it has something to do with the location arrow on the bottom left that does not allow me to select it. And if there is not a way to obtain this via a native iPhone app, are there free ones out there which actuall work? The one I tried was GeoMarker, but that gave me lat/lon at least 3 miles away.
A lot of questions I know, but any help is appreciated.

The iPhone 3GS has a true GPS. Normally, it uses local WiFi and cellular signals to help locate itself faster. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1975
A company called Skyhook Wireless maps WiFi and cell tower locations it scans. Apple uses this to help your GPS locate itself quicker. Here's how it works: http://www.skyhookwireless.com/inaction/apple.php
If there is an error in the Skyhook data, your phone's location may be off. You can turn off WiFi to eliminate the error. It will take longer for the phone's GPS to locate itself without WiFi, but it should be more accurate.
The built-in compass app (iPhone 3GS or later) shows which direction you’re facing, along with the geographical coordinates of your current location. You can choose magnetic north, or have Compass adjust the declination to show true north. Look for your coordinates at the bottom of the screen below the compass display. If you don't see the coordinates, check Settings > General > Location Services and be sure it's turned on.

  • Does Curve 8520 have GPS

I have a pink Curve 8250 the software has been updated and the faceook apt has been updated. However it wont let me log into facebook places it comes up with a message saying no GPS support. Iv been told many different stories about why this has happened. My network provider has told me its because its  there software in the phone and it  doesn't support this whist other networks do. The shop I bought the phone from has told me that this type of phone does not have GPS. I've also been told by the  shop I bought it from that I need to update the software but then I updated the software and now there telling me I shouldn't of done this as my phone doesn't work properly with this software. To add even more confusion my friend has the exact same phone only in Purple and with a different network but still a curve 8520 and they can use facebook places.
I would really appreciate if someone could give me an answer to if my phone does have GPS and why some phones work and others don't?

Thanks a lot for answering really appreciate it.  Your the first straight yes or no answer I've had.
