Does iPhone (4) take over Airport on eMac?

I'm totally confused about this so bear with me. My son gave me an iPhone 4 yesterday and connected it to my eMac Wifi base. Now I can't find any record of my eMac on my ATT Diagnostic Site and there have been four new access numbers added since I last looked including the iPhone on the next to last place. I'm still trying to connect my wireless iMac to my printer (again) The printer has lost contact with my Base Station (Airport) on my eMac.
I've downloaded the iPhone User's Guide but it'll take me weeks to absorb what I want to use from the Guide's 156 pages. I did find this which is what worries me. (edit -- I tried to paste the quotation but it didn't take.)

What concerns me is that when I used Disk Utility to check my eMac disk the permissions are OK but Verify Disk gives me the message: "invalid extent entry" then "The volume needs to be repaired -- Error: The underlying task reported failure on exit."
I read somewhere that I can use my install disk to repair this. If so, what keys do I use to enter the disk?

I spent the better part of an hour on the phone with ATT trying to figure out what has happened. They're sending me a new Router.

Tough to tell what it could mess up, but you must repair the Disk before anything else.
You must repair the HD, if Disk Utility or fsck should fail to repair it, your best bet is DiskWarrior from Alsoft, you'll need the CD to boot from if you don't have another boot drive...

or interfearing from other wifi networks which use the same channel

Is it possible that Internet Explorer takes over control of the settings of the cursor in Shockwave dcr files ?
Since a couple of months I have realized that the cursor in my dcr movies does not change anymore from the default pointer despite being instructed using lingo commands.
For example:
   on startMovie me
      cursor 280
   end
should change the cursor into a finger, but it does not.
I have also tried hiding the cursor (cursor 200) and using my own custom made custom but the default pointer refuses to disappear.
When using Google Chrome all works well.
Hower, this is not a proper solution since I cannot control the users choice using Internet Explorer or Google Chrome.
I would expect a lot of screams from all over the world but the lack of that makes me think there maybe a simple way to avoid this.
Any comments are very much appriciated.

IPhone G3 takes over an HOUR to sync!

I am VERY frustrated that it now takes an iPhone G3 a LOOOOONG time to sync because it makes a full back up every time. i am trying to back up to go upgrade to 16GB, and then if you get a phone call, you have to start all over. i finally put it on airplane mode, but i have a headache from not eating because ive been trying to back it up for over TWO HOURS so I can then restore to the new one.
a) a phone call should NOT cancel syncing, it should ASK you and you should be able to decline the call and continue sycning.
b) why can't backup be an option???
I am LOVING the 2.0 but HATING the syncing, this is ridiculously long.
am I missing something, please?!?!?!?

I am so flipin $%!&@^^#$&#@$*& mad! I upgraded to 16GB and after AN HOUR AND A HALF someone called me and it &^@#&^*&@#^$&^#@$B cancels ALL THAT WORK and how I have to ^@&^%%@$@#$@@ !! start all $!%@#&!*!#@ over.
this is STUPID!
It restores the applications on first install, but NOT your music/videos. Then it has to do a FULL BACK UP (which is what i was doing) BEFORE it will add your music/videos.
so now I have to REDO a 2 hour backup BEFORE it will even transfer my music and videos BACK on to my new 16GB.
I scared of how long it will take once I have 16 and not just 8GB of stuff on this thing!! almost wish i had stuck with an 8GB!
i am hating my iphone right now (though still in love with all my new apps) and missing my iPhone EDGE with 2.0 as it worked BEAUTIFULLY.

Does MacBook do AppleTalk over Airport?

I have a new MacBook which connects to the LAN via a graphite Airport Base Station. Everything works except AppleTalk. TCP/IP is fine, internet is fine. AppleTalk works from the iBook sitting next to it, both running OS 10.4.7. The Airport is set up as a bridge only (not routing). I have a Linksys router which is my firewall, NAT, and DHCP server. If I plug in an ethernet cable and switch Appletalk to that interface, everything works. If I switch Appletalk to the Airport interface, the MacBook disappears from the AppleTalk net (other protocols are not affected).
Does anyone know if this is confined to the graphite base station i.e. if I buy a new base station, will that fix it? I see the problem with MacBook Pro and Airport and AppleTalk is resolved in OS 10.4.6; does that hold for the MacBook as well?
I appologise if this is covered elsewhere, but a search didn't come up with an answer except a couple of similar questions were rather rudely answered with "Appletalk is obsolete, get new stuff!" and that is not an option in my case.

Doesn't anyone else find it ironic that third-party hardware will work better than Apple's using Apple's own protocols?
In my case, it's even wierder: I have a Windows desktop and a MacBook. The Windows Desktop (Win2K) will print fine over the wireless link to a LaserWriter 630, but the MacBook cannot. So Windows prints to an Apple printer via an Airport over Appletalk better than OSX does. That's so wrong on so many different levels!

Why does iPhone 4 take long time when finishing syncing?

I have recently started noticing, after upgrading to 7.0.3 that my iphone doesn't work as well, crashes occur in apps and it's a lot slower to process.
Then I went to back-up my iphone, to my Macbook Pro, as I always do and have recently done since upgrading to 7.0.3.
It goes through the first stages of back-up at a regualr speed.
But when it gets to 'Finishing Sync' .... well, it has been finishing now for over 30mins!
I have alot of Apps on my phone, but have never had an issue with using them before upgrading.
Can anyone give me some advice on what I need to do to prevent this or fix the speed of the sync.
Can I do a partial back-up/sync of importnat things like iCal - when im in a hurry?
My phone obviously won't back up properely if I eject it before it's finished? Love some assistance if anyone has any ideas.

Unless something has gone catastrophically wrong, you should never have to perform the uninstall/reinstall/reapply the patch hokey pokey. So that's just wasted effort. There is a simple way to perform what I call the "Factory Reset".

I might question why this is needed at all. Perhaps you are unaware of some things that help you avoid issues with Captivate.
For example:
How many slides are in your projects? We normally recommend keeping projects somewhere between 50-65 slides as a rule of thumb guideline for the upper limit.
Where exactly are your projects residing when you make edits? Frequently we see folks working with projects on a network drive. This is less than optimal and will often cause issues and slowness and project corruption. Work locally off your C drive and periodically copy the project the network server to be backed up.

If I have an iPad with 3g, and I am using 3g on the road, does wi-fi automatically take offer when I move into wi-fi range?

Data should be delivered by the first available service from Wi-Fi, 3G, Edge or GPRS. There will a symbol that makes it clear which service is being used. See pages 29-30 from the iPad manual.

I realize this is an old thread but I'm having the same problem after upgrading my software today. Kinda surprised there are no solutions at all with 88 views. I have an iPod touch btw, not an iPhone, but it prob wouldn't make much difference in this case.
The thing is, I get the screen(s) looking EXACTLY as I want on iTunes...just perfect (which is what I believe everyone else is experiencing as well). When we go to sync tho, it does whatever it wants to do. After syncing, all the apps are there, it's just that for me, it puts them in some type of random order. I have 72 apps and this is absolutely ridiculous!

The flash on a smartphone camera is tiny. It only lights up a very small area right in front of the camera. It won't light up the whole scene.
Have you seen the size of the flash on a professional camera? Even they can't light a whole scene in the dark.
Fact is, a smartphone camera is not capable of taking good photos in the dark, even with the flash.
You'll need to buy and learn how to use a professional, dedicated SLR camera to be able to take good photos in the dark. It is not easy.

iOS7 (iPad or iPhone) can't play music over airport? I don't see the little arro that let's me pick the airport for music to the audio system.

New way of doing this is to sweep your finger up from the bottom of the iPhone screen; you see a sort of control panel with things like airplane mode, bluetooth etc across the top. And 3/4 of the way down the little arrow thing you used to see beside in "music" to choose the AirPlay or Base Station.

The first thing to check would be your internet download speed, you can do this at www.speedtest.net.
1080p HD movies require a recommended speed of 8 Mbps, 720p HD movies require a recommended speed of 6 Mbps, while SD movies require a recommended speed of 2.5 Mbps.
Netflix uses adaptive streaming and can reduce quality right down to produce a stream as low as 0.5 Mbps.

You are right there as a weard issue try with the battery comes out and then try to connect to the itunes should be working properly, if not fix the power on/off button because are escential to do it.
