Does iPhone work with modified sine wave inverter?

Well, i have a modified sine wave inverter and i want to know of i can use this inverter to charge my iPhone. Thanks!

You mean to plug the wall charger into? It should be OK, but if you are using a 12 volt auto source you are much better off getting a 12V USB charger. Wastes less gas.

  • Modified sine wave inverter to power MyRio?

    Helllo
I am going into uncharted territory for my senior design project. I need to build an MPPT circuit to efficiently charge a 55AH or 75AH battery.
The design because of my lack of programming expertise is going to for the moment be based off of the MyRio. Unlike most controllers I've seen, the Rio needs a DC power supply to function so I need to be able to plug its AC/DC adapter to an inverter which would be connected to the battery
I went to my car today with this inverter: http://www.rosewill.com/products/1738/ProductDetail_Specifications.htm http://www.rosewill.com/products/1738/ProductDetail_Specifications.htm
I didnt seem to have any problems with my ThinkPad Yoga charging on it and the myRio plugged into it. that being said, I only intend to run stuff off this inverter for at most 3-4 monthswhich is the duration of the project.
Is there a big risk of frying my components? Also would using such a source introduce too much noise. I would buy a proper sinewave but those things are very expensive.
(note most of my work will be done in a lab or at home with utility AC). I will test the circuit prbly for 120 hours at most on the battery/solar setup which includes demo purposes.

    Edo101,
I doubt you will damage the myRIO by using a modified sine wave inverter. You may see some additional noise on analog inputs and outputs, but unless you need a very high level of accuracy, I doubt that would be too much of an issue either.

  • Can Mac Pro run off a modified sine wave inverter safely?

I was looking into getting a car inverter for an upcoming road trip.
The posts that I was reading said a pure sine wave inverter was the best. Unfortunately the cost is really up there. A modified sine wave inverter is about a 1/4th of the cost. Some blogs mentioned the modified version works with newer computers, however they were not specific.
    Needing some nerdy help!

If you are producing 110 volts to supply the computer's AC adaptor, then it should be OK.
I would verify with the inverter's manufacturer that it is suitable for use with computers and their power adaptors. Also, be sure the inverter provides adequate power.

  • T7900 and a Modified SINE Wave Inverter

    Just a quick question...
All I will be powering is the sub - Not the sat's !
Can I use the Inspire T7900's on a Modified SINE Wave Inverter ?
    Would a 50W (450W Peak) Inverter be enough ?
I would be led to believe that I can, but I would like to make sure first.
    Thanks lads,
    Ferret !

Well what i'm "trying" to do is see about putting my T7900 sub into my car, for abit of bass...
I would buy a sub for the car, but it's pointless because I wouldn't use it that often, only when i'm doing long distances which isn't very often.
If the sub works off the Modified SINE Wave inverter, then all I have to research is how to connect the headunit to the sub itself !

  • Does iPhone work with the Apple Hi-Fi speakers

Thinking of buy the Apple Hi-Fi speakers. Does it work with the iPhone?

Neil is correct, it does work, a previous version of the firmware had some problems and could trigger the warning message you refer to, suggesting airplane mode. In fact, airplane mode is a good idea because the GSM interference will be really loud on the HiFi.
The HiFi has been discontinued, have you been able to find one?

  • Will PFC power supplies work with SIMULATED sine wave inputs

Will PFC power supplies work with a SIMULATED sine wave input from a UPS unit?

Not sure whether you really meant "PPC" and have never heard of a PFC power supply, but if your question is whether a Mac PPC computer will run on a UPS, then the answer is definitely "yes" as my machine has shown twice in the past 12 months and several times in the past on the G5 tower and with a G3 B&W.
I haven't dragged the old analog scope off the shelf to see what the UPS output really looks like, but I suspect it is no dirtier than the mains power in my neighborhood.

  • Does iPhone work with Slingbox?

I know Slingbox works with the Treo -- anyone know if the iPhone supports it?

There is a very tricky slingbox thing being planned -- but is not sure if it will eventually work. It will involve linking to an Apple TV and then to your iPhone. It is not yet functional.
Slingbox won't work directly on your iPhone as it does not run on EDGE, even if they were to create a program for it.
Of course, the other work around would be for Slingbox to couple with Apple to figure out a way for you to use your internet to stream your Slingbox -- but for the most part, Safari on the iPhone doesn't WORK with streaming media.
I do miss Slingbox, but it's one more thing I can eBay...

  • Does iPhone work with Charter Cable?  POP problems

I am attempting to set up a friend's iPhone to use Charter.net and I am experiencing the same problem. The local Apple store rep told her that iPhone would not work with Charter. However, when she shuts down her home computer or Outlook, she gets her Charter email okay. Obviously, the solution isn't shutting down Outlook or leaving her computer turned off so she can get/send email via her iPhone. But how do I get around this POP lock? Once we reset her iPhone, emails came into her desktop? Surely there are other Charter Cable customers that are successfully using their iPhone for Mail, etc. How did you do it?
    Thanks,
    Barry Brown

"Obviously, the solution isn't shutting down Outlook or leaving her computer turned off so she can get/send email via her iPhone."
Actually that is the best solution for POP lock. If she is away from the computer, close the email client so that it is not constantly checking email.
There is no way to get around POP lock. If both devices (computer and iPhone) happen to check mail at the same time, the server will lock one or both of them out. You can try to lessen the chance of them checking at the same time by setting the interval to check mail to be a little longer or set one to check manually.
This article explains what is happening.

  • Does iPhone work with Jabra BT160?

I just keep getting the searcing message so I was wondering if maybe they don't work together.

I have tried iPhone 3G with several Jabra headsets and it seems it works fine, except from the issues I'm having as [described in this thread|http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1804116&tstart=15]. Mind you, that I am facing these issues with numerous headsets from different vendors, and I also have tried 3 iPhones. So, I have concluded that it's an iPhone-related issue and that [Apple should really fix such issues|http://pleasefixtheiphone.com/problems/view/6330>, software or not.

  • Does iPhone work with USB 1.1 on iMac 17 inches 1 GHz ?

My GF just got her iPhone and I tried to use it with my iMac but it wouldn't show up in my iTunes. I wonder if this was because there are only USB 1.1 on my Mac (5 of them). Please post a response if you happen to know about this and I will really appreciate it, thanks a lot. Nick

The iPhone specs are as follows
    Mac system requirements
Mac computer with USB 2.0 port
Mac OS X v10.4.10 or later
    iTunes 7.5 or later
Although it may work on some systems results can not be predicted if you go below those specs, it is a known issue that the iPhone does not like any USB below 2.0,
    hope this helps

  • Inverter--Modified Sine Wave

I just bought a Whistler inverter for use in my car, rated at 200 watts. The manual for the inverter says that "The AC output is called 'modified sine wave'"; it also says "Check with the appliance manufacturer for compatiblity with sine wave inverters if you're unsure." So, will the Mac's power supply work with an inverter producing a "modified sine wave"?

no problemo I say. My home power is run by an ancient Trace modified-sine 2012 inverter (off the grid). I also have a cheapo 300 w inverter in my car, very useful for miscellaneous charging. "Modified sine" just means the tops are not peaking like in true sine-wave inverters or grid power, with peaks @185v (rms, averaging 117-120v AC). The peaks (@60 hz) for "modifid sine" are stepped-topped at like 164v); valleys are likewise @ like 80v, too, so rms average is still 120v (over time). It is true that inductive loads, like battery charging, suck up peaks first. So one would think that modified sine would be bad. But they are fine! The magSafe battery charger is a huge cushion between basically any kind of AC power: browned-out 3rd-world legs or whatever, within specs, which are 50 - 60 hz, 110 - whatever volts. Modified, even square-topped sine wave is ok. That type of ac power may run clocks and turntables funny, by they are fine for charging a MBP IMHO.

  • I bought this iPhone from Apple Retail Store for the full amount, but  it does not work with my SIM card only works with AT&T

    Hello,
I have an iPhone 4S 32Gb White AT&T, product part No. MC921LL/A, Serial No. C39GMLPWDTDC
I bought this iPhone from Apple Retail Store (from Fifth Avenue, NY) for the full amount. Now it does not work with my SIM card only works with AT&T. I restored the phone several times, but I have not received "Congratulations your iPhone has been unlocked". Please activate my iPhone to work with different SIM cards
    Thanks,
    Best Wishes

    When did you buy it?
Apple did not begin selling an unlocked version of the iPhone 4S in the US until 11/11/11. I believe it went on sale only through the online store at that time. I'm not sure if it's available at retail yet.
What you purchased was a phone without a contract commitment. It is still locked to AT&T. AT&T will NOT unlock iPhones for any reason.  Return it and get your money back, then use that to purchase an unlocked phone.

  • Is it possible to have your whole family on one apple id or is it better to have each person have there own? If each has their own does each id have to buy their own music and apps? How does find my iphone work with one apple id or two?

Is it possible to have your whole family on one apple id or is it better to have each person have there own? If each has their own does each id have to buy their own music and apps? How does find my iphone work with one apple id or two? also I am going to be going off to college soon should I make an itunes id for my self and how will I get all the music from the old id?

Is it possible to have your whole family on one apple id or is it better to have each person have there own?
Yes, it is possible. 1 apple ID can be associated with up to 10 devices.
If each has their own does each id have to buy their own music and apps?
    Yes, all purchases are non-transferable.
How does find my iphone work with one apple id or two?
Every device associated with one apple ID through Find my iPhone is tied to that Apple ID; Find my iPhone will work in the same way with up to ten devices associated with one apple ID. You cannot enable Find my iPhone for one device across two apple IDs
I am going to be going off to college soon should I make an itunes id for my self and how will I get all the music from the old id?
If you have authorized a computer with the old apple ID, you can transfer old media purchased through the old to other devices via iTunes. This doesn't mean the media purchases through the old apple ID it transferred to the new account. If you plan to make future purchases and don't wish to share them with others, make your own apple ID.

  • IPhone (3,3G,4) does not work with Apple Universal Dock.

I have a 3rd generation iPod Touch that has been upgraded to iOS 4. My iPod Touch will no longer sync via the Apple Universal Dock. Also, my new iPhone 4 also will not sync via the Apple Universal Dock.

Trust a geek not to give up. I decided to get to the bottom of the "iOS device does not work with the Apple Universal Dock" problem. I noticed that the iPhone 4 and iPad came with slightly different USB-Dock adapter cables. I wondered if that might be the issue. My Apple Universal Dock was connected to my Mac via the original dock adapter cables which are slightly larger. I connected the newer cables between the Mac and the Apple Universal Dock and .... voila! Both the iPod Touch with iOS 4 and the iPhone can now connect via the Apple Universal Dock. Apple changed something in the way the adapter cables function.
Of course I still have the problem with the car head unit dock adapter ... Sigh. I'll have to call Best Buy ( uughh! ) and find out if they'll do the update for me. The were the vendor authorized installer.
