Does iPhoto '11 post to Facebook using its new High Resolution feature?
(I haven't bought '11 yet so I can't test it myself.)

In my test, yes a larger file was uploaded. However, if you call this "high resolution" when it's still compressed smaller than it was, and almost all the metadata - including colour information is stripped out - then you've a pretty low setting for "high" resolution. Put it this way, it will still print very poorly.
FWIW, I had none of the issues described above.

IPhoto not posting to Facebook; locking

Since I got iLife '11 (and iPhoto 9.1.1 in particular), I have had nothing but headaches with iPhoto.
I have the same problems listed in many other topics here including freezing, having to use force quit to close it, and terrible loss of function with places.
But very frustrating to me is the inability to post photos to Facebook. When I use the share feature, the program goes into an endless "pending" mode and nothing ever actually gets to my Facebook page. After a few hours of "pending" I go to stop it and get a message about how it is syncing photos and do I really want to stop. I say yes but it won't stop, the program won't quit and I have to go to force quit to get on with my life.
How can I get this to work?

I've been having problems to upload and sync photos to Facebook.
iPhoto 9.1.1 would just keep asking my e-mail and password to login to Facebook. I tried to delete my Facebook account, close iPhoto, reopen it and add my Facebook account again, but it didn't work. (At some point, iPhoto would even block with popup dialogs that cannot be closed, so I had to force exit.)
Finally, I found how to fix it: I went to my Facebook Account Settings page and disabled "Safe Browsing (https)" in the Account Security options. It seems that iPhoto fails to upload photos due to authentication errors when Facebook enforces secure connections via the https protocol, as described in: http://blog.facebook.com/blog.php?post=486790652130
At some point it's a Facebook issue related to latest changes, but Apple should fix how iPhoto handles these authentication errors. iPhoto gives no clues on what the problem is and, what's worse, the application can get blocked with the authentication dialog that keeps popping up or just failing in an odd way.

What is the best way to save and copy high resolution slide show?

Creating and saving/burning slide shows in iMovie or iDVD does not appear to give the same high resolution as playing slide shows directly from iPhoto. Resolution is also lost when exporting the slide show to iTunes. Is there a recommended technique to preserve resolution when saving a slide show?

Click the "Export" icon on the bottom of the application window.
Click the "Custom Export..." button on the bottom left hand side of the new menu that appears at the top of the application window.
At the bottom of the next window click the "Options..." button.
Under the "Video" setting, click the "Size..." button.
Next to "Dimensions:" click the "Compressor native" drop down menu.
In there you have "1920 x 1080 HD".
There are a bunch of other options, so explore and find what works best for you.

Get higher resolutions for extended desktop

We have a new iMac. We also have an older Apple Cinema HD display monitor that we're using with the iMac as an extended desktop. On the iMac, we're using 2560 x 1440 resolution; but the highest resolution we can get on the Cinema HD is only 1280 x 800. Does anyone know how we can get higher resolutions on our Cinema HD display monitor?

I've been looking for a way to have the screen resolution change for different Apps too. I can't find anything in Automator, but I hope there is a way.. Like you, I like my editing programs to be higher resolution and my finder, email and the rest to have a lower resolution.

Lightroom 2.1 slow at high resolution screen setup?

Does anybody have the same problem at high resolutions like mine 2304x1440.
Lightroom become extremely slow, at 1:1 you can't use any tools like crop, heel etc.
There is delay between mouse gestures and actual movements of tool or picture at screen. I checked CPU s only 60% loaded.
I have AMD Quadro core CPU and 4 Gig, ATI redon 3200 under WinXP.
Is it be because of graphic card or other reasons(CPU,OS,Mem...)?

I have had the same problem. I don't know why. Sometimes, when I go to make an adjustment and I click on one of the sliders, it will take seconds before it responds. This is not a problem that I had with prior versions of Lightroom. If anyone knows why this is happening, I too would like to know.

When uploading pictures from the Facebook website it gives you an option to upload pictures in high resolution.
My question is does iPhoto 11 upload pictures in high resolution or does it use the 'normal' Facebook resolution option?

I uploaded an album using iPhoto images although I uploaded them using Facebook.com and they look wonderful. Now I went the lazy route and used just iPhoto to upload to facebook and the images all look blurry and distorted. I think it doesnt upload it the way it should which should be High-Quality. When you use facebook.com it allows high quality but iPhoto doesn't even mention it sadly.

Why does iPhoto need almost all my private Facebook info?

I like iPhoto functionality of easy sharing photos on many services like Facebook. I know that there are some issues regarding it but something worries me a little.
Unlike any other app, iPhoto requires almost all information that is private for me on Facebook. I'm not oversensitive here - I gave access to my Facebook profile to hundreds apps, websites and services but they have never asked me for Work History, Religious views, Messages, etc.
Could any one tell me what is the point of such requirements?

Apple is not asking anything, but asking you to sign into Facebook. All other questions you are seeing are generated by Facebook and not by Apple. Signing into the account is necessary, because iPhoto will sync the published album with Facebook. Changes you apply to a published album in iPhoto will appear on Facebook and vice versa.
It is safer to use the uploader than to sync, if you are not using duplicates for syncing.

LR posted to Facebook is no longer working for me. Says album name cannot be assigned.

Before the last update to LR I could post to Facebook via LR with no issues.
After the update I get the message something to the effect of Album name cannot be assigned. I have tried with and without spaces in the name and same outcome.
Any suggestions?

How do I set the audience privacy for when I’m using Siri on my iPhone 5 to post to Facebook?
When I ask Siri to post a message to my Facebook Siri tells me what I have said and then asks tot post it, I then checked on my computer and the post is visible to "ME ONLY" I can change this on the computer and on my phone via the App but I do not want to be doing that all the time.
If I post to Facebook via Siri on my iPhone 5 I want it at the default setting of friends only.
So How do I change this?
I posted the first one 2 minutes ago then went into Facebook via the App and changed it but did a second one hoping that the default privacy had changed but it was again to me only. As you can see via the padlock. Please help. Thanks

How to fix lost connections to original high-resolution pictures in iPhoto and how to import an iPhoto Book from one iPhoto library to another

Hi there,
I am using a MBP Pro with 8 GB cache and 1 TB HDD from beginning of 2011 with OS X Yosemite and iPhoto version 9.6 (910.29).
I created an iPhoto Book to print which contains my best pictures of 2013 and 2014. Then I got an error message when I wanted to print the book, saying (translated from German):
Book could not be created.
With photo p233432343.jpg there was an error. The original version of that photo with full resolution could not be found or is damaged. Please replace the photo or delete it from your book.
When I enquired further, I found out, that many, many pictures in my iPhoto library have that problem - only the thumbnail picture is found by iPhoto, but not the one with the high resolution. When looking at the photos in detail one sees that they are not sharp because obviously the photo book only refers to the thumbnail. When I went into the iPhoto Library using Finder, I saw that the original high res photos are still there. As there are an estimated 3000 photos with a lost connection (some still have, it but about 1/2 of my photos don´t), it does not make sense to import those photos manually. This photo book is just the tip of the iceberg, so to say.
Then I looked for solutions in some forums. I had two lPhoto libraries, one on my HDD (120GB) and one on an external HDD (175GB). Assuming there might be problems, I have deleted (moved) the one on my HDD, because the "right one" is the one on my external HDD and started iPHoto again using the alt key. But that did not work either.
I then tried to repair my iPhoto library using iPhoto Library Manager, and merged and rebuilt libraries. The library that came out was crap - all folders that had lost connections to the high resolution pictures now have zero photos in it. Also it is lacking the projects, including the photo book I created.
Then I went to find out if there is a way to import the iphoto book project from the old, corrupt library into the new, repaired library but could not find anything. It can only be exported as a file structure or website. As the file structure is missing the high res pictures, that does not even solve the "little" problem of the photobook.
I would REALLY appreciate your help on the two questions:
1- Can you advise what I need to to do to to get the connection to the high resolution photos established again ? As it is more than 3000 photos, I use an automated way of reestablishing that connection. Probably an answer to this question would make question 2 irrelevant.
2- Do you know if there is a way to export and import a book project created in iPhoto from one library to another ?

1 - Select the thumbnail of one of the problem photos and use the File ➙ Reveal in Finder ➙ Original menu option. This will take you to the folder containing the original file with that file selected by the Finder.
You can also use Find Any File to search for that file (get the file name from the Info pane in iPhoto). You will find the thumbnail version and maybe an edited version also. Made sure what is found is the large, original version and note were it's located. Search all of your drives with FAF just in case.
If you don't fine the full sized version then the only recourse is to use a file recovery application like SubrosaSoft FileSalvage on your drives to see if any of your full sized photos can be recovered. If you find enough files to make the purchase of the software worthwhile buy it and recover the files. However, since it may have been quite a while since you discovered the missing originals it seems unlikely you'll be able to recover any due to being overwritten.
2 - book projects are just entries in the library databases and can't be exported to another library.

When trying to post to Facebook it won't from Safari. Worked perfect up until last night.

Yes, the same thing started happening to be at same time.
I wonder if it may be happening to everyone. Or just a certain group of apple iPhone id's.
I am guessing it is an issue on an Apple server somewhere. Or Facebook changed something and does
not know they broke this feature on apple.

When I edit photo's in Iphoto on my ipad2, it decreases the resolution. Why does this happen and does this also happen on a macbook air?

I have made pictures on high resolution with a Canon 100D camera, which means the pictures are 5-6 MB.
But when I edit them on my Ipad2 in Iphoto it decreases the size and resolution of the pictures to about 0.5MB
Does anyone know why Iphoto decreases the resolution of my pictures when I edit them?
And does this also happen with Iphoto on a macbook air?

Are the photos raw photos or jpeg? When you edit raw photos in iPhoto on your iPad, the raw image will not be processed, only the embedded jpeg. That will reduce the resolution of the image considerably.
But when I edit them on my Ipad2 in Iphoto it decreases the size and resolution of the pictures to about 0.5MB
How do you save he edited version after editing? That will determine, if the image will be scaled down,

iPhoto on a Mac has a lossless workflow. iPhoto will always store the original image file that you imported and compute an edited version from this stored original. The quality of the photo you will see outside iPhoto will depend on the methode you use for sharing. You can export at the original size or scaled down, depending on the purpose you want teh photo for, small for email and web presentation, full versions for printing, for example.

IOS 6 not posting to Facebook

iPhone 5 running 6.1 is not posting to Facebook in the photos app using the Facebook share button. I get the alert sound to indicate when the upload has completed, yet nothing appears on Facebook desktop or mobile sites. This stopped working a few days ago and is very annoying as I can't post into my "iOS photos" album on Facebook by going onto the Facebook app direct.
Does anyone else have a problem with Facebook share button not working in photos app?!

I have the same problem, more or less. When I post something using share button, the 'woosh' sound comes and no error comes. However, on my profile, it is not visible. Interestingly, it is visible on newsfeed though. Someone really needs to fix this.
