No it doesn't. You need to purchase it from Microsoft.

  • Why are some of my apps that are supposed to come already installed on my Mac (like IMessage and IBooks) missing?

I have a new Mac. I've had it for about 3 or 4 weeks but when I got it, some of the firmware (apps that come already installed) are missing. Some of these include: IMessage, IBooks, Keynote, Numbers, Pages, IMovie, IPhoto and Quicktime. They are all missing. My Mom recently got the same Mac as me (same year, model etc) and she has all of these apps on her Mac. But I don't... HELP ME ?! I really miss IMessage especially.

Did you try to deselect all apps, sync to remove them all.
If you where able to remove all of them, sync them back.
Resetting the sync history in iSync may also be helpful.

  • Software update in mountain lion offers updates for iPhoto and iMovie that will not install

Updated my iMac 2011 to Mountain Lion. Software Update now operates through the App Store. Third Party apps are OK but Apple's native Mac apps eg iPhoto, iMovie offer updates for installation that do not install.
Get this error eg for iMovie but similar for iPhoto and maybe others:
"We could not complete your update.  iMovie is already installed on this computer. Choose Software Update from the Apple menu to check for available updates."
If you do as suggested, it reloads App Store software update and goes round again...
If I go to "Check for updates" in the iMovie menu it tells me it's the current version.
"This version of iMovie (9.0.8) is the current version."
The badge showing the count of apps requrining an update is also wrong.

Hi, just wondering, were any of Apple's Apps moved from there default location?

  • I've already paid for iPhoto but i got a new hard drive put in my computer so do i have to pay for iPhoto and iMovie again?

I've already paid for iPhoto but i got a new hard drive put in my computer so do i have to pay for iPhoto and iMovie again?

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
Of course not. You already purchased iPhoto and iMovie, so you can reinstall them for free.
If you purchased them from the Mac App Store or you got your Mac after July 2011, open the Mac App Store, log in with your Apple ID, go to Purchases and redownload them. Note that the latest iPhoto and iMovie need OS X Mavericks.
If you purchased them in a DVD, insert the DVD and install them. Then, open  > Software Update, and install the latest version.
If you got your Mac before July 2011, use the Applications Install Disc to install iPhoto and iMovie.

My dad bought a new retina macbook pro over a year ago.
The pre-installed iPhoto and iMovie applicaitons get this error when trying to download an update:
"to update this application, sign into the account you used to purchase it"
We are logged into the only account that he has ever had.
    He has mountain lion.
It's very annoying and there's no way we know of to get around it. Searching and searching online led nowhere.
    Please help!!!!!

    You cannot.
As requested... You need to use the SAME Apple ID that Originally made the Purchase of whatever Application you are trying to Update.

  • Can't get iPhoto and iMovie to download and install

I upgraded to MacOS 10.7.4 and purchased through iTunes the latest versions of iPhoto and iMovie. I'm not able to download them, much less able to install them. Help!

What is happening when you try and download them?

It says 'To update this application, sign in to the account you used to purchase it.'
However I only have one account. I've tried to sign out and in several times. But it doesn't work. I do remember changing my password recently. Secondly I'd like to add that I got this macbook air 3 days ago. I'm a first time mac user. It had three updates initially. Mountain lion 10.8.2, iphoto and the imovie. I updated the mountain lion, thinking I'd get the iphoto and imovie done later. However now this problem has come up. Thanks for responding. Hoping to hear from you soon again regarding this.

  • Does AppleWorks come already installed on new apple comps?

I'm thinking about buying an Apple laptop and i was just wondering if AppleWorks comes already installed....thanks

In addition to what Yvan said, it's maybe worth noting that while Appleworks is always included with the machines he mentioned, it's not always pre-installed. You may need to install it from your DVD, but it will be there, if you get an ibook.

  • Free alternatives to iPhoto and iMovie

    I would like to do,
simple photo editing: Resize into 4'X6', change contrast and brightness, crop, etc.
simple video editing: crop small videos
    Thanks for your suggestions.

Since when is updating your software a bad thing?
When the Software Maker mucks up and pushes out a bad update. It happens. Some folks on here had their Faces processes bunged up by an update, others have graphics issues induced by upgrading to 10.6. These things happen to every software manufacturer at some time or other. And that's just two current examples. It is impossible to test every bit of software on every concievable hardware and software scenario.
I agree there should be an on/off switch, but I do think that ppl are stubborn when it comes to updating their software. I think that this is meant to benefit the vast majority of users who don't bother to update their software, than the minority who do.
And that's where forums like this are invaluable. Before you apply an update you can come here and see if other folks have an issue and then decide for yourself if you want to apply the update.
Unless, that is, you use Picasa (or Chrome, or their Search Utility). In these cases you specifically give Google the right to update the software on your machine with whatever they think fit whenever they think fit. And you cannot install Picasa without agreeing to this.
    Correct. Moving along...
Why on earth would a software maker want this unlimited access to your Machine?
They're not getting "unlimited access" to my/your/anyone's machine. They're updating a piece of software installed on your machine. You agreed to let them update the software when you installed it--this is hardly a bad thing letting the developer update their software.
Don't believe me? Read the EULA or see here:
    http://www.google.com/support/forum/p/Picasa/thread?tid=27117d0828181bf3&hl=en#a ll
This is a forum link, not a direct link to the EULA. The EULA is in the software upon installing it, and on this link:
    http://picasa.google.com/intl/en_US/web/tos.html
Other oddities when in that Licence agreement:
You give Google unlimited rights to use your images as they think fit:
By submitting, posting or displaying the content you give Google a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free, and non-exclusive licence to reproduce, adapt, modify, translate, publish, publicly perform, publicly display and distribute any Content which you submit, post or display on or through, the Services.
Correct. I've read the Picasa EULA and your quote is correct, yet incomplete. The EULA also states....
"You retain copyright and any other rights you already hold in Content which you submit, post or display on or through, the Services." << In other words, Google is stating, clearly, that you own the copyright to all of your content and Google is not trying to take that way from you.
....it is very clear what is considered"content" and what is "services". You do not give up any rights to your content, period. The quote you mention above has more to deal with the online portion of the Picasa software, not with the Desktop app itself--it'sunder the Picasa EULA under sec. 1.1 (the very, very top), as stated...
+1.1 "Your use of Google's products, software, services, and _web sites_ _(referred to collectively as the "Services" in this document and excluding any services provided to you by Google under a separate written agreement)_ is subject to the terms of the legal agreement between you and Google.+
Now, when you read it up close, it is saying that anything you transmit to Picasa that is public may be used in the front page advertising (just like Flickr does, _see below_). Moreover, they put this in the EULA...
+In addition, by submitting, posting or displaying Content _which is intended to be available to the general public_, you grant Google a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to reproduce, adapt, distribute and publish such Content for the purpose of displaying, distributing and promoting Google services. _Google will discontinue this licensed use within a commercially reasonable period after such Content is removed from Picasa Web Albums._ Google reserves the right to refuse to accept, post, display or transmit any Content in its sole discretion.+
    Here's Yahoo/Flickr's EULA....
    http://info.yahoo.com/legal/us/yahoo/utos/utos-173.html
+Yahoo! does not claim ownership of Content you submit or make available for inclusion on the Yahoo! Services. However, with respect to Content you submit or make available for inclusion on publicly accessible areas of the Yahoo! Services, _you grant Yahoo! the following worldwide, royalty-free and non-exclusive license(s), as applicable_+
If you read either of them, they are both telling you the *exact same thing*--make it public, we'll use it. You can post to either service as private or unlisted, but what's the point? Plus, they are not going to use anything that is not intended for the general public (as Google's EULA specifically states) for their own advertising.
I think ppl have this misconception that Google is going on your computer, ripping your photos out from under you, and showing your kid's 4th birthday party photos all over Google Ads. Bottom line, it is only saying that if you make something Public, it's possible that it will end up as part of a gallery advertisement just as it would on a Google or Yahoo Image search.
Perhaps you're a trusting soul and I'm a jaded cynic. But I wouldn't give that right to anybody.
Hey, don't get me wrong....I've got my tin foil hat right here but there is a lot of misinformation out there and ppl take things out of context. Plus, if you think Google's EULA is "scary", read Facebook's EULA sometime. I can sooner understand people's concern over privacy than I do over the concern over copyright.

  • Installation of iphoto and imovie

    Panther experts!
My ibook is currently running Mac OS Tiger. How can I install iPhoto and iMovie from the Panther installation disk onto my ibook? Is it possible to run Panther apps on Tiger?
    Thanks.

You can try to install the iPhoto and iMovie from your old Panther 10.3.x restore-install
disc set into your computer that is running Tiger 10.4.x now. This may be best done by
the use of the shareware Pacifist. This will run in a demo mode, so it can be done now.
The download can be updated to a fully functional utility for a relatively small fee.
The hardware in your computer would limit you to older iLife versions, due to the
graphics processor and other old hardware in that computer. My older iMac G4 800
with 17" LCD and superdrive, worked well with iLife '06; but would've been marginal
with iLife '08 or later. You could get the iLife '06 installer disc set inexpensively, used.
    Panther in your install-restore disc set has an even older iLife assortment of apps;
and these create or produce old-style versions of files that may be incompatible
with the newer versions out there now. Or, shared newer content would not work in
the iLife version from that long ago. Some upgrade (convert/save) may be likely so
an older version iLife item could be used in a newer iLife, but that is speculative.
{For image editing, I prefer a freeware download application that does many things
well and inexpensively; and I recommend it. Look up ToyViewer. To be familiar in
    how it works and all of what it can do for you, takes some time. It is quite able.}
You can move your old AppleWorks from your Panther restore install disc into the
current OS in your computer (Tiger) by the Pacifist method; if you do not wish to go
the full route of upgrading a new installation from Panther then overlay upgrade to
Tiger. Some of the older restore install disc sets also allow you to install OS 9.2
from the install-restore disc set. Since your computer can dual-boot, be sure the
drivers are installed in the formatting process; even if you don't install OS9.2 that
does cover the possibility should you ever wish you could boot from OS 9 to fix
an issue in OS X. And you own the discs that came with the computer, already; so
your license to use their content in one computer should remain intact.
Pacifist can be a fun challenge, for info & download: http://www.charlessoft.com/
There are a few ways for it to work; sometimes, it does not do what was expected.
ToyViewer now has a version 5.0, see info and download from the home page:
    http://homepage.mac.com/t_ogihara/software/OSX/toyv-eng.html
    Good luck & happy computing!

I am having the same problem.  I even changed my password and updated all of my security information.  Now it just gives me an error and retry message, which of course also does not work.  Went to support and was going to open a chat (seemed the simpler option) and received a message that my support has expired for this serial number unless I want to pay $29.00.  So I chose the option to call later, which was the exact time suck I was trying to avoid.  Why wouldn't the new operating system also update the apps that were already part of my old platform?

  • HT4623 Why can I not get the iPhoto and iMovie apps for free on my new iPad air

I have an iPhone 5 but just got an iPad air for Christmas. I didn't realize I set my iPad up under another Apple ID until my phone was not syncing with my iPad so I erased all content and reset the device to put them both on the same Apple ID. The problem I'm having now is the apps that are supposed to be free like iPhoto and iMovie are saying I have to pay 4.99 for them how do I fix this problem. Cause I did have them installed when I had it set up under the other Apple ID name :(
    Thank you

  • I have a 2008 iMac. Can iPhoto and iMovie process 720p HD videos?

I am shopping for a megazoom camera. They are mostly built for still photos, but also shoot HD videos.. in either 720p or 1080p formats. I have a 2008 iMac. I have not upgraded to Snow Leopard or a more recent version of iLIfe.
Can my version of iPhoto and iMovie process either format of HD?
A guy at the local Apple store said the video files have to be in AVCHD format, but I have found no info to back this up, so he is probably wrong.
A Canon online rep said 720p could be used, because my mac uses a 1080i format.  ??  Something about up-sourcing.
I am eager to buy a camera, but want to be VERY sure I can use at least a 720p HD format.
As I am a computer neophyte, please explain in layman's terms.
    Thanks very much!

iMovie from '08 iMac.. which makes the iMovie # 7.0
Thanks for the advice! I just found this: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iMovie/7.0/en/15202.html.
As far as I can tell it says 1080i will work with iMovie 7.0,  But I could be wrong.
I think your advice on using 720p is excellent. The camera I am most inclined to buy at the moment is the Panasonic Lumix FZ-100. I think it has optional .. what do I call them.. resolutions? Possibility of shooting in either 720p or 1080i... or maybe not.
A rather rude apple tech support guy I spoke with yesterday.. if I remember correctly, said 720p or 1080i or 1080p.. wouldn't matter.. for '08 imoive.. but this might not be correct. Besides being unpleasant, he didn't explain things very well..
He also said it is best to find a camera that shoots in AVCHD, and that if I didn't find one, I would have to convert the video file to AVCHD.. I am wondering how to do that, and I am wondering if he is correct.
You have a Canon.. I got an email from a Canon rep who says none of the Canon cameras shoots in AVCHD.. maybe this is not a problem? Do you have to convert your video files to AVCHD?
And.. If I have been shooting in 1080i..or 1080p for that matter,  if I understand you correctly, I can process that video in 720p instead? I don't know if there is an option for this in iMovie '08 (which is version 7.. GRRRR.)
This is all too @#$% complicated! I've been doing research for almost a week.. many hours a day.. trying to figure out what camera to buy, and whether or not it is compatible with my mac. I thought I had it figured out.. but maybe not..
If I need to, I'll get the iLife '09.. but have been reading bad reviews of iLife '11, so probably won't get that one.
Besides the Pan. Lumix, I am checking out the Canon SX20 and SX30.. both shoot in 720p.. I think..  If I can convert these to AVCHD easily (or if I don't have to convert them) maybe the Canons are a better choice.
Lastly.. will these videos process with iPhoto? Mostly I just want to put videos on youtube without any fancy editing. I've been doing this with an older but excellent point and shoot Canon (that does not shoot videos in HD), and have had no problems uploading to youtube.
Thanks VERY much for the help!

iphoto and imovie and garageband will not reinstall, but they worked after upgrading to mountain lion, but have had to do a clean install and i can't get them to install now, any suggestions please?

    I have the same probleme
Nevethless, I just tried the following scenario :
On my Imac (OS X Lion), I have two user accounts, mine and one for my daughter.
    1. If my daughter send me an email from her account and her Iphoto using iphoto template, I receive her email on my accouint perfectly. I do not have  the message "plug-in missing".
    2. On the other hand, if I send  an email from my account and my Iphoto using iphoto template to my daughter, she receives my email on her account with the message "plug-in missing".
It seems the probleme comes from either my iphoto or my domain an dnot from my mail application. But no idea to fix it.
